DDs Crafts Fabulous Fifty Birthday Blog Hop Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of DDs Fabulous Fifty Birthday Blog Hop.  If you landed here after visiting : Cheryl's Blog   then you're in the right place. If not, please go to DDsCrafts, to start from the beginning.  Today, I thought I would try to create something a little different, it's not a card and not a layout, but more of a display item to place on the table top (if you add a base stand) or on the wall.

Here are the items I used for today's project.

  • 2 Shades of pink card stock and one sheet of black card stock
  • A circle cutter, I used my Making Memories one, cut a circle at 7.5" out of the darker card stock
  • Glitter glue: I used 2 shades of pink from Studio g, found at Michael's and Gunmetal by Stickles
  • Cri-Kits Glitter pen in black as well as the pen holder/tool
  • ProvoCraft's Cricut Expression as well as the Elegant Edges and Rock Princess Cartridges
  • Sticky tape and pop dots

Using the Elegant Edges cartridge, refer to page 58 (circle 3). Press the "frame" button, set size to 5 1/4", P-Hi, S-Hi, B-6. Cut out of the black card stock and then set aside.  Using Rock Princess, refer to pages 32 and 37 for the numbers.  Press the "Heart Font" and cut the numbers out at 2.5" each, use the same settings as earlier.  Now, refer to pg 67. Cut (Butterfly2) at 2.25" out of the darker pink card stock. Then, press the "shadow" button and cut at same size out of the black card stock.  Next, press "shift" and cut in the lighter pink shade.  Assemble the butterfly, only attaching the body to the black shadow base. Use pop dots to attach the wings.  I forgot to show the Forever Young cartridge I used to write "fabulous".  Refer to pg 70 (flower7) and press the "word' button, you will "cut" at 1".  Insert the Cri-Kits pen holder and mini glitter pen in stead of the blade.  Make sure you drop the blade down about an inch into your circle so that there is enough space for the lettering.

Time to assemble! Pop dot the frame onto the pink circle, ensuring not to cover the sentiment. I chose to have the "fabulous" on top.  Adhere the 50 inside the frame against the pink circle.  Adhere the assembled butterfly to the pink circle, bend up the wings for that 3-D effect.  Stickle/glitter glue the butterfly, the 50's hearts, under each circle in the frame and the circles within the sentiment.

Next, take the a sheet of 8.5" x 11" black card stock and cut in 2" strips lengthwise.  Using your scoring board, score at (every) 3/4" and 1", so it you should be scoring at: 3/4, 1/ 1 3/4, 2, 2 3/4, 3, 3 3/4 and so on.Your last score will be at 10 3/4 for each strip.  Pleat fold.  Attach each pleat folded strip to the back side of your pink circle using sticky tape. NOTE: ensure that you are forming your strip to follow your circle's shape.    Once adhered, stickle a dot in the center of each pleat but onto the edge of the pink circle, all the way around except where the butterfly covers the edge.

Here is a close up of the gunmetaled hearts and the empty spaces of the sentiment.  You can see the stickles under each hole in the black frame.

Here is a close up of the 3-D butterfly stickled as well as the edge of the pink circle.

I hope you enjoyed this project.  Happy Birthday DD!

Your next stop is:   Shannon.  Happy hopping and thanks for viewing my project.

Fierce, Fabulous & 40 Project

Welcome all to Nicole's FIERCE, FABULOUS AND FORTY Blog Hop. There are so many talented ladies joining the party. The wonderful women in this hop were asked to make anything related to the theme - cards, banners, scrap layouts, posters, bulletin boards, magnets, crafty knick-knacks, bookmarks, home decor and accents and so on and so on . Now let's get on with the festivities! If you came from Meighen's Blog  then you are on the right track. If you want to start from the beginning, please hop on over to Nicole's Blog.

Here is the complete hopping list just in case you get lost:
1.  Nicole
2.  Ashley
3.  Lynne
4.  Lynda
 5. Susana's
 6. Gina
7.  Barbara
8.  Zenita
 9.  Jearise
10.  Sam
11.  Shannon
13.  Meighen
 14.  You are here- CraftyLam

Did you know 40 is the new 20? Well, it is in my book. ;)

What a fun opportunity to come up with a project for Nicole who is turning 40!

Here are the items used for this project.

  • ProvoCraft's "Cursive 101" Cricut cartridge for the "40" cut from scrap fuchsia card stock at 1.75" as well as my Expression machine, the numbers were adhered with Scotch brand Quick Dry Adhesive glue.  Using the Studio G's pink glitter glue, I "blinged up" the numbers.
  • Memento "Tuxedo Black" ink pad along with Studio G's clear stamps found in the $1.00 bins at Michael's Craft Stores (series 24 is the "Party Time" stamp and series 14 is where I got the "glasses" from). Using the Bic 36 count "Mark-It" markers in: Fandango Pink, Pink Flamingo, Stone Grey, and Cloud Nine Grey, I colored the wine/champagne glasses in and then Stickled them with: Gunmetal, Magenta, Silver and Studio G's pink glitter glue, for that extra bling. I then used Stampin Up's "Large Oval" punch for the "Party Time" stamp, adhered it with Scotch brand Pop-Up Foam Squares (I also cut a square into thin slices and used the pieces to adhere the glasses).
  • Brilliance "Moonlight White" ink pad used with Hero Arts' CG144 "Time to Stamp" large cling that was stamped onto black card stock from recollections at Michael's.
  • Using white curling ribbon and fuchsia  Essentials brand Narrow Satin Ribbon in 1/4", I tied a knot in the ribbons and glued the knot down using the Scotch brand glue, then I cut the ribbon ends at an angle for effect.
On final inspection, I decided the card needed a little extra bling, so I used the Silver Stickles and dotted the "Party Time" oval and then the center dots to as many clocks as I could.

I hope you enjoyed this project and it inspired you.  Happy Crafting!

All About Boys Blog Hop

Welcome to the "All About Boys" blog hop.  If you've landed here after visiting Mindy E, you're in the right place.  However, if you've just stumbled across my blog but would like to see all the projects created for this hop, please go to Mindy's Blog and start off there.

As a mother of 3 boys (and 1 girl), you would think that crafting for a boy or with a boy in mind would come easy, but NO! It took me almost a week to come up with a boy-themed project.  Here is what I came up with....

Main Ingredients:
Stampin' Up's Watercolor pencils, RavenHead Manor Scrapbook Paper Pad by Recollections, "Tuxedo Black" ink by Memento, Roll Call Stamp set (and the "Edward" single stamp) from The Greeting Farm (I wasn't sure which one I was going to end up using so I took a pic with both), ProvoCrafts "Just Because Cards" cartridge and my Cricut Expression

.

Using the ink, stamp your image onto quality white paper, if you choose to use blender pens the water could weaken the paper & it will rip.  Color in & cut out your image.  Cut ou the "Cute as a bug" saying from page 48 of the Just Because handbook. Use the "word" function and cut at 3".

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to pop on over to
Haidee's Blog to see what great project she created for this event.

Christmas is For Kids Banner Blog Hop

Welcome to Day #2 (Sunday) of the Christmas is for Kids Banner Hop!  Did you remember to set your clocks back one hour early this morning, when Daylight Savings Time ended?  So you've got an extra hour to spend with us on this hop, YAY!  Grabba cuppa coffee and enjoy!!
It is my pleasure to host the CHRISTMAS is for KIDS BANNER HOP, where fantastic and generous crafters donated their talents, time and holiday banners to the children at Pediatric Specialty Care in Bucks County, PA. (See www.PediatricSpecialty.Com
I work at Pediatric Specialty Care as Admissions Coordinator. The children (ages 0-21) we see are medically-fragile and technologically-dependent -- many are tethered to a ventilator that runs through a tracheostomy; most are wheelchair-bound, and cognitively impaired. They are all delightful children who face life with optimism and hope for a better tomorrow. On this hop, we have 34 generous hoppers who have created fabulous banners. I've split the group in half so you're not overwhelmed with completing the hop in just one day. So DO stop back tomorrow to visit the second set of unique and precious banners.  Please scroll down for the full list of today's hop stops. And there's BLOG CANDY to be had!!  THANK YOU to our generous sponsors who have provided prizes to those who hop along. Here are our sponsors and their prizes:
One winner will receive four free digi-images of their own choosing from www.MeljenDesigns.com!
www.HappyScrappy.us will provide one winner with a code valued at $20 toward your purchase from their terrific site!
Beautiful ribbons, embellishments, charms and more are on the http://meiflower.co.uk site.  They'll be giving a voucher valued approx $32 USD.
All hoppers are eligible to win.  Here's how: Follow the blog and comment on as many projects as you choose -- the more blogs where you comment and follow, the more chances you have to win. There's just one catch: please actually comment on the project, which shows you've looked at the project, not just cut/pasting random comments ("CUTE! TYFS") only to win the prize. Random.org will choose the winners, subject to verification that winners have met the above-stated criteria. Without further ado, here is my banner:
I used Meljen's Designs for the digi-art Santa's sleigh collection. I colored each image using Copic markers, and mounted each member of the herd on a snowflake cut from American Crafts glitter stock, using a Sizzix die.  Here is detail from each of the reindeer:
No matter their limitations, the eyes of the kids who reside at Pediatric Specialty Care light up when given a handmade banner or card. They love the bright colors, and knowing that there are so many people from around the world care enough to send them these decorations for their rooms. Thank you (!!!) to each of the crafters who has made a Holiday Banner. Please stop by each of their blogs to send them some love.  Today (Sunday, November 6), please hop to the following blogs:

Thank you again for visiting today. I hope you're inspired to make your own Holiday Banner ... let your inner Elf emerge!

Hi there! This is Lisa from "CraftyLam". I am so honored to be part of this special blog hop.  Below is the banner I created.  If you have visited me before, you will know I like to make things fairly simple.  Enjoy!

For the trees, using "Album, Christmas Tree" by Sizzix Bigz Die and a olive colored card stock from the Earth Tones Textured card stock 12x12 pack from Best Occasions. (The olive papers were cut to 5"x5" to fit the tree base adequately.)  Cut out 14 trees. (I used my Epic Six die cutter.)

Using the Cricut Expression, Hannah Montana cartridge and random sheets of decorative paper from DCWV's "Christmas Combo 180 stack", cut out the letters for "Merry Christmas".  The letters were cut at 2.5".  I cut the patterned papers into strips of 3" wide by 4" long to accommodate each letter. (Note: some of the letters cut really low and wide so have extra paper handy in case of mistakes.)

Using Stickles and Studio G brand glitter glues, I bling'ed up the letters.  Colors used, Studio G: red, peach, brown, purple and yellow.  Stickles brand: Holly, Goldenrod, and green.  These are the ONLY colors used across all the letters.

Using the same Stickles & Studio G glitter glues, I decorated the front of the trees.  Let them dry.  I flattened them over night since the glitter glues like to warp the papers.

Using mini brads and a mini hole punch, attach the letters. Then using curling ribbon, loop & knot the ribbon through the holes in the tops of the trees. (I used tape and folded it slightly to make a faux needle tip to thread through the holes.) Keep the ribbon ends long so you can try to match them up & curl them.  Attach the top layer ribbon (going through "Merry") ends to the bottom layer (going through "Christmas") and knot. Allow ends to dangle.

Below are close ups of the letters and the final project.
;

Sorry, this is as close as I could get to the banner without cutting the ends off in the picture.  My banner ended up measuring 39 1/2" in total length.  I also added an extra strand of ribbon to each end just to add a little oomph. Enjoy!

Thanks again for stopping by and enjoy the blog hop.  Your next stop is Janet S.

Best Foot Forward

Ingredients for this fun little card:
  • craft card stock, cut at 5.5"x8.5", folded in half
  • Stampin Up inks: Mauve Mist, Caribbean Cool
  • Distress Ink in Antique Linen, Tea Dye, blending tool from Ranger
  • Ivory card stock
  • Background paper for the dress (sorry, I no longer have the packaging for this paper. It came in a blue box at Jo-Ann's around Spring 2010, it had 180 sheets of patterned paper.)
  • "Art Philosophy" cartridge for Cricut. Use "shape 2" on pg 36 of hand book, cut at 1.5"
  • Crystazzi crystals in ss20 (you'll need glue to adhere these)
  • "Celebration" stamp set from Close to My Heart
  • "Old Letter Writing" (#S4878) large stamp from Hero Arts
  • "Autumn" stamp set from Close to My Heart ("best foot forward" sentiment), hand cut

Lightly ink the "writing" stamp for a faded/weathered effect.  Using the blending tool, use the Mauve Mist & Antique Linen inks to give character to the background. Do the same to the dress, printed paper piece & the sentiment. Using the Caribbean Cool, ink up the edges of all the paper pieces.  Use pop dots to adhere the dress to the printed paper, then glue down the other pieces.

Here is a close up of the card, showing you the slight coloring from the blending tool/technique.

Thanks for looking.

Sweet Stamping Treats

This is Lisa of http://craftylam.blogspot.com and today I created a Halloween door sign, "Boo Crew".  I hope you like it. I need to state that I have NEVER, I mean NEVER done a Halloween project. Nor have I ever participated in a Blog Hop! So here I am stepping out of my comfort zone not only once, but TWICE! Eeek!

Here are the items used for this project:
  • The frame is from the new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge that was offered from Close To My Heart. It was cut at 6" using the "Butterfly2", "shift" key, and "decorative layer" function button from "Black Tie" glittered cardstock found at Michael's Crafts.
  • The vellum paper was 8.5"x5" that was then cut down to fit the backside of the frame. I used Tombo Mono Multi Glue to adhere it to the frame and then added the letters.
  • "Boo Crew" letters are from "Cursive 101" cartridge cut at 1 1/2" on purple cardstock and then Stickled with Gunmetal for extra oomph! (The purple wasn't making as much of an impact as I was hoping for, hence the Stickles.)

The pumpkin is cut using the ProvoCraft "Designer's Calendar" cartridge from page 37 using the "shift" key & the "October" button using orange design paper. This pumpkin was cut at 3".  I used Orange Stickles to add a little sparkle to this pretty pumpkin, she needed a little bling!

This cute little spider (x2) was from ProvoCraft's "Doodle Charms" cartridge at 3" from page 121 of the handbook using the "Black Tie" glitter paper found at Michael's Craft Stores.  Luckily, this little guy won't bite.

Here's a pic of the project full-length, it measures about 18-20" in it's entirety.  The black string is just black sewing thread I had on hand. Using a mini hole punch, I marked where I wanted each figure to hang from and the punched the figures where I wanted them to hang at.  I just looped the thread through the holes 2-3 times just to ensure the creature will hang on for a while (we get stromg winds in October where I live.)

Here's the final project, just shortened a bit, so you could see it well in one shot.

..... Thank you again for checking out my project...  Now hop on over to Deb and remember to visit all the stops for more chances to WIN!! Below are links to BOTH days of the hop so you'll be sure not to miss a THING!! DAY ONE (October 15):

DAY TWO (October 16):

Happy hopping!

Autumn Sign

I wanted to paper craft,     BAD! I haven't had the chance this week with life and all the cleaning that comes with being a mom of 4 young kids. (I'll probably say this a lot in future posts, sorry. I love my kids a ton, I just have to make time to craft after caring for the kids, housecleaning and getting my fledgling candy business going.)  Anyway, I wanted to make a sign to put inside my house. Here is what I have put together so far......

Using random sheets of paper from "The Uptown Paper Collection" by Corina Nielsen, I cut 1', 2" and 3" strips of 12" paper.  For the 2" & 3" strips, I had to cut 2, since a single strip glued end to end will NOT connect and then flip to make the rosette.  Next, using my new MS score-board, I scored using every other line until I finished each strip. (Note: to save time, I was able to double up these papers when scoring, but it won't be that easy if you use card stock.)  After all the strips were scored, I glued the strips to their own ends, making a ring, remember the 2" & 3" strips need to have 2 strips glued to make larger rings.  Once the glued ends dry, working on a flat surface, stand the ring upright, carefully push the top edge down into the center towards the table, don't crush the fan folds. Now, take a circle punch (2" seems to work real well) and punch out several pieces from scrap paper, it won't matter, these aren't meant to be seen once completed. Take a circle punch, add adhesive, I used Tacky Glue, generously to the surface of the punched circle. Now, taking your fan-fold rosette, carefully center your circle to the backside of your rosette and hold in place for about a minute, applying light pressure.  Once the glue starts to set, you can set it aside and place a light weight on it to ensure it will hold while you work on the rest of the rosettes. I let mine dry over night.

Here is a view of the backside of my rosettes, I ended up using 1" circle punch, which was a bit too small, that's why I suggest the 2" punch, or even a 3" if you've got it.

Next, using an Olive sheet  from "Earth Tones Textured Cardstock" by Best Occasions, I cut out the word "Autumn" from the ProvoCraft "Cursive 101" cartridge.  The "A" is cut at 5" and the rest is cut at 3".

Clean up the letters and decide how you want them to lay out among your rosettes. Once decided, glue the rosettes together accordingly, so as not to squish the letters too close to each other.  Then, adhere the letters to your rosettes. You'll need to apply light pressure again to get these letters to stick. I used a couple of  small yellow notepads across the letters.  Let dry.

Next, you can put these rosettes on card stock in a layout fashion, but I wanted mine on the wall and since my walls are a white-ish color, I stuck them onto vellum with glue dots.  (The vellum will blend into my walls.) I trimmed off the excess vellum, just in case and added the rest of the rosettes for added color, besides, they were already made. Buttons, which I never use, but have on hand, were threaded using white mercerized crochet cotton from Creative World Traditions purchased at Michael's and then double knotted. The buttons were then adhered using more glue dots.  (The thread was cut at varying lengths to go along with the varying sizes of the rosettes.)  Lastly, Lime Green glitter glue from Studio G (found at Michael's) was applied to all the letters for a little bling.  You know I can't do a project without bling, hahahaha!

Here is the finished project.

(Sorry about the lighting, my iPhone decided it was too bright to flash.)

Happy Crafting!

Boutique Display I Created

I just wanted to share with you all really quick a display I just finished creating for a Boutique event happening this weekend. Mainly, I wanted to show you the versatility of the CTMH's Art Philosophy cartridge.Do you see the business card holder right up front? Yup, the one made out of vellum, that's it.  I used the AP cart to cut out the door hanger box from page 25 of the handbook at 9.25". I added glue dots to hold the box together and added 2 more to the backside just to keep the box in place (centered).  I also hung the loop around some ribbon I have hidden under the damask napking and then taped the flap shut.  That's it. Just wanted to share.

Happy Crafting!

Art Philosophy Boxes

While going thru my Art Philosophy cartridge looking for a project to do for an upcoming blog hop, I decided to play with a few of the boxes that are offered in the cart.  Here are the ones I cut out.
The paper used is from American Crafts, Bookshelf is the oval-dotted one and Amplified is the multi-colored striped one.  Each box was cut at "fit to page" which ended up being 11.5" or 11.75".

Below, is the box you can find on page 24 of the handbook using the "shift", "font layer" and "square6/ dragonfly" keys.

The next 2 pics are of the box found on page25 of the handbook.  Again, you will use the "shift", "font layer" and "rectangle4/star2" keys to cut this out.

This next pic happens to be of my favorite box so far!  I believe it's called a "Gable Box", but I could be wrong.  This one is found on page 22 of the handbook using the "shift", "font layer" and "oval1/snowflake1" keys.  This box has 2 openings: exterior ones have the ribbon pulled thru and tied, the interior one has a set of flaps that interlock. Too cute! I may be using this particular box for my handmade truffles.

Here is a picture of the "Gable Box" opened. You can see the notches for interlocking the interior flaps into place.  Cute, right? I am loving this cartridge more and more!

When I get a little more time, I will add the other 6 boxes onto this blog.  Have a wonderful day and Happy Crafting!

40th Cupcake Birthday Card

Sweet Birthday card for my DH's 40th Birthday!

What a milestone to hit. DH wasn't exactly looking forward to this birthday, but I thought I would make him a fat-free treat, this card.   LOL!
The cupcake is cut out of light grey cardstock using the "card" function at 4.5". I used the layer functions for the "icing" and liner.  The icing & liner and the number 40 (candle version) papers are from the "Glitter Sweet Matstack" from DCWV.  "Waterfall" blue stickles was used to add a little bling to the cupcake base.

Happy Crafting.

Mini Word Book Album

Mini word book album for a Birthday Gift

My nephew Dylin was celebrating his First Birthday on April 9th, so I decided to make this mini book for him to have.

Ingredients:
6 toilet paper rolls
coordinating paper (I used "All About Boys" from DCWV in the 4x6" paper pack)
adhesive (I use my ATG gun)
random scrap craft paper
hole puncher
Cricut Machine & Plantin Schoolbook cartridge

Recipe:
Flatten the TP rolls at least 24 hours prior to starting the project, use heavy books or pans.  If you don't want to wait, use your hand-crank die cutting machine (Epic 6, cuttlebug....) to flatten them all down.  Be patient, it takes a while to get them really flat.  Choose your 6 pieces of coordinating paper to decorate the tubes.  I can't give you exact measurements here (each TP roll varies slightly in size), but you want to cut your paper down to be able to cover the whole TP roll.  You should have a little excess paper at the seam to ensure the roll gets covered completely.  Using your favorite strong adhesive, apply glue/tape to the TP roll, especially the edges (you don't want the paper to lift).  Next, I used my Cricut Expression to cut my nephew's name out at 2.5" using blue card stock I had lying around.  Then I used the "Bags, Tags, Boxes & More" cartridge to cut out the "scalloped edge" tag on page 91 (of the manual).  I cut out the tag at 2.5" and cut each tag down (in length) to fit into each slot.  I also applied each letter to the TP rolls accordingly.  Once dried, I hole punched each roll for the 1" rings to slide into.  Embellish as desired- I used stamps and die cuts I had lying around.

Robot Father's Day Card

Here is a Father's Day card I made for a contest held by Robyn from My Pink Stamper. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to enter the contest because I couldn't figure out how to upload my pic to this blog. The prize was a Cricut Expression from Provocraft, how cool, right? Nonetheless, I already have my Father's Day card all done for my DH! Enjoy.

The full card measures: 6.75" wide x 12" long.
I creased it at : 3" and 8" to cover the body of the card for presentation.
The robot paper came from DCWV's "All About Boys" paper stack.
The Robot was an SVG image I found and cut using SCAL at 3".
The font was used from SCAl too, but I don't remember the font name, sorry.
Enjoy.

My new blog

So I thought I would start this blog strictly for my crafting ideas. I've been trying to set it up, but uploading pics has been a pain. Hopefully, I can get it right.

You Make Me Melt

This is an Anniversary card for my DH.

Yellow card base measures7.5" x 5.5", folded in half.  I had some scrap paper I used for the front, it measures 2.5" x 5.5".  The "You Make Me Melt" is cut at 2" from neon green cardstock and I used the layer button for the "make" and used my DCWV glitter mat stack paper.  I used the same papers & measurements for the popsicle and the drippings.  Inside I wrote a handwritten sentiment to my DH.

Happy Crafting.
