Free Pattern Friday: Mama and Baby Foxes

Are foxes still trending? Whatever. They're super cute, trending or not. When I was little I always loved those stuffed animals that had a mother and babies, like puppies or kittens, that cuddled up next to the mom. Remember those?

Mother and Baby Fox

I originally wrote this pattern for Michaels. Simple stitches and soft wool-blend yarn in earthy colors make the project perfect for a Mother's Day gift (you've got so much time!) or a baby's nursery.

Materials List
Tapestry needle
Polyester fiberfill
Embroidery Needle
White felt
White thread
Black embroidery floss

Notes:
The pieces are all crocheted in the round in unjoined spirals. Use a locking stitch marker if necessary to mark the beginning of each round. When you complete a round, move the marker to the loop on your hook and continue crocheting.

Thank you for being a friend.

I have a running list of "dream projects" in my Erin Condren Life Planner. There's things I might never get around to, and there's things I'm working on right now. One of the projects that has been on there the longest is to do a full set of The Golden Girls.

I used to watch it when it came on in prime time. Truthfully, I wasn't killing myself to never miss an episode, and many (many) of the jokes were way over my head. I thought it was funny, though, and my sisters and mom and I still reference it to this day.

You know how you like a show when you're a kid, and you go back and watch it as an adult, and it is sooo different from what you remember? Either it's WAY lamer than your 4th grade mind imagined it (I'm looking at you, "Silver Spoons" and "Three's Company"), or it's so much better than you remember ("Good Times", "The Jeffersons", and yes, even "Murder, She Wrote").  Golden Girls is a prime example of that. If you haven't watched it in a while, PLEASE, watch some clips right now. It is hilarious.

SO FUNNY!

Anyway, I finally got to mark the Golden Girls off my list! Yahoo! Here they are:

Golden Girls crochet amigurumi set

By now you are ready to make your own, right?! The patterns are available in my Etsy shop and my Ravelry shop. Make them for yourself or give them to a friend. They use simple crochet techniques and the set is 31 pages long with lots of photos and illustrations. Each pattern includes a comprehensive list of materials, with a list of yarns I used for each example. Let me know if you have any questions!

So, are you a Dorothy, a Blanche, a Rose, or a Sophia?

The Beatles! New Amigurumi Pattern

Always wanted to do the Beatles, and I got a special request from a fan that was actually in attendance at one of their concerts in the 60s! It was a treasured memory and he wanted to immortalize the guys in cuddly yarn form. Who can blame him? So I made him these:

The Beatles crocheted amigurumi, Hard Day's Night era

And just because I have always wanted to, I also wrote patterns for them. They are 10" tall (except Ringo, 9.5"), so a little shorter than the dolls in my BOOK, and they are pretty quick to work up. My favorite thing about the pattern is that each Beatle is the same except for the length of the legs and the hair, and of course the face. The pattern gives you all the alterations you need to make each of the Fab Four unique and special with all the little details.

K-9!

Since I started doing Doctor Who amigurumi, I have gotten requests for K-9. He presented a challenge to me, and I love doing people, so I kind of put him off. But if I could make a big boxy TARDIS, I thought I could definitely handle doing a little robotic dog.

I used several of the same techniques in making K-9 as I did for the TARDIS. If you own that pattern, you probably will see what I mean. I have to get really technical planning these out! There is a ton of measuring, sketching, really mapping, to get it how I want it. I can crochet in the round for days and not even give it a second thought when it comes to writing out a pattern, but the geometric shapes I have to do for these guys gets a little complicated.

Lucky for you, you don't have to do any of that math. I wrote up the pattern for K-9 and took tons and tons of photos so he should be relatively simple. I hope you like him. I think he's pretty cute, for a robot.

Download the pattern for K-9 from Ravelry or Etsy!

Planning stage, measuring and mapping...

Done!

Sniff. Sniff.

Tiny details count!
K-9!

And the original K-9, with Doctors One, Two, Three, Five, and a kinda creepy Tom Baker wax figure...!

Twelfth Doctor Who

When I started sketching out my second set of Doctor Who dolls, the costume that Peter Capaldi would be wearing as the 12th Doctor had not been released. In his first appearance he had been regenerated from Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor, so had the same clothes. Last week the BBC released photos of the new Doctor's wardrobe and I have to say, I'm really digging it. Although there's no fun knitwear for fans to recreate, there is a real element of cool to his simple Crombie coat and brogues.

I made the Twelfth Doctor and the pattern is now available. Take a look.

We don't know much about this Twelfth Doctor yet. Are you looking forward to see him in action or are you missing Matt Smith?

Purchase the Twelfth Doctor pattern here. Have you seen my War Doctor? Here's the first set including the TARDIS in case you missed it.

The War Doctor is Here!

Last year around this time, I was releasing my huge set of Doctor Who patterns. I took a custom order for Christmas and was thrilled to make a complete set of Doctor Who dolls, starting with the First Doctor way back from the 60s, to the then-current Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith. Together with the TARDIS, the patterns have been really fun for lots of Whovians!

Starting out the new year, I've been commissioned to make another epic set of Doctor Who dolls! In no specific order, they will all be releasing one at a time in the coming months and will include:

Susan (First Doctor's granddaughter)
Sarah Jane (in her red and white overalls)
K-9 (because how can I the collection be complete without a robotic dog, I ask??)
Rose (so many requests for her!)
Captain Jack (and so many requests for Captain Jack Harkness, from Torchwood fans too!)
Donna (and fans of The Office can pretend she's Nelly)
Rory (planning to do his Roman Centurion outfit)
Amy (short shorts and boots of course)
River (and I'm excited to do her hair!)
Clara (I am in love with her wardrobe)
Weeping Angel (can I blink at all while I make this??)
Ood (this will creep me out the whole time I'm crocheting it...)
Cyberman (from the "distant future")
Dalek (what color should he be??)
The Master (there's a few, but mine will be blonde...)
Twelfth Doctor (hooray for the new photos! Can I crochet Doc Marten brogues? We shall see...)

and finally, the War Doctor!

Spoiler alert! I've already made him! The pattern has been released today, and he was really fun to do. John Hurt is an amazing actor and I love how this Doctor has so much character, from his faux hawk down to his half-gaiters (did you know those boot cover thingys are called half-gaiters??). He's got a lot of detail which is really fun to do (my favorite part of making AmiguruME dolls...) and I can't wait to see people start posting pictures of their War Doctors on my Facebook page or Ravelry.

Here's lots of photos of the new Doctor...

What do you think? Will you be making a War Doctor yourself? Which Doctor Who doll should I make next?

So after months of preparation and weeks and weeks of work, I finally finished the set of Doctor Who dolls and Tardis I was commissioned to make! I really truly enjoyed making these guys and I swear, I almost teared up when I packed them all up and shipped them to Washington state. There is a lucky husband out there with a wife who loves him (and Doctor Who) a lot!

I posted before about the previous doctors I've finished, but I'll go ahead and show them all in order and then show off the massive Tardis they can fit inside!
