Smudgy Antics SIDT Check Book Cover

The weekend is almost here and I do hope that you get some time to get crafty, inky, and creative!  I thank all of you who do visit to find out more about my SIDT projects.

My project for today uses one of the Smeared Ink Rubber Club Past Offering sets:  Danse Macabre and a bit of Jack.

If you happen to use Smeared Ink's unique stamps, we would love to see your project and get it entered into the Smudgy Antics Monthly January Anything Goes Challenge

I do not know about you, but for some reason the covers for my checks are all blue.  When reaching into my bag to dig one out I always grab the wrong one.  Well...NO MORE!  Here is my new check book cover:

Doop-da-doop Deets

Printed music is from ACDC Whole Lotta Rosie, which was a project that I never got around to making...sound familiar anyone??  But now it got used, woohoo!

Cut and adhered to outside of blue check book cover with Sticky Strip.

Stamped dancing skellies with Versa Mark ink, covered with White Embossing Powder and heat set.
Words and music notes were stamped with Black StazOn ink.

Smudgy Antics SIDT Project

Hello and wow, where in the heck did November go??
Lots of changes going on at Smeared Ink!  Updated and new Smeared Ink, the Smudgy Antics Anything Goes Monthly Challenge blog is back up and running, find out about Creepmas and more at Smeared and Smudged: More Smeared Ink blog, and get over to the Smeared and Smudged Facebook Page!

Very exciting that inspiration will be happening once a day by each of the Smeared Ink Design Team members.  I have done an Art Journal Page for you today using the Smeared Ink rubber set called Voodoo.  You can find this set and many more in the Unmounted Rubber Stamps section.

This page was inspired by this past season of American Horror Story - Coven.  If you know me, I LOVE this series and am well into this seasons...which rocks as well.  Quotes are from different episodes from the altered version of Papa Legba.

Day 23 - 31 Days

DAY 23 OF 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN

The Wicked Blogger Roll is on the left side bar <-------
Scavenger hunt rules and guidelines can be found HERE for 31 Days of Halloween.

You may have just arrived from the ghoulish Wicked Blogger Kapree and are now here at Shoni / Crafty Inknik.  The next frightful blog is Altered Pages.

I have decided to make some Spell Books.  I am still working on the covers so you will see those and more pages this next week, maybe even one finished book...kinda.  You know how it goes when you need to add more pages, or accumulate more stamps that need to go in.  Yes, another book that will never be quite "finished".

Now that I have made a couple, I am hooked.  Watch out after Halloween sales, I am  ready!!
Okay, on with the post.  I am showing two sets of pages from the altered phone book.

Section 13 - The Deets

Pages were found on GOOGLE, saved, and printed out on full sheets of copy paper.

Cut to measure phone book.

Pages are slightly thicker because when I Gesso-ed the outside, did pages as well and many stuck together.  So pulled apart the width that I liked.
Printed pages were Tombow-ed to the book pages.

Maya Red Mist Spritz in centers.

Morte (June 2013)
Haunted Places #1 (Sept 2013)
Jack (May 2014)

Raven is from SU! polymer stamp set, Paper Pumpkin October 2014 Kit.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

S&SJunkFunkSept Challenges

It was a good day.  Fingers are dyed and got three projects completed today.  Hope you get to get crafty this week.

This project I think I will label a Fat Book.  I was inspired by two challenges to make this and will be entering my project in each of the challenges.

The first challenge/Quest is at the Quoth the Raven, Nevermore blog.  Quest #36 - Tic Tac Poe.  I have used the row RAVEN/POE/BLACK.  All hail thine Master!  CRAP - missed the deadline.

Second challenge is this month's Junk Funk Challenge on the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  The junk we needed to use this month is coupons or advertisements.

I used a local advertisement flyer which has about 5 pages to it and is newspaper size.  The advertisement was already folded in half, and then folded in half again.  I folded it once more to measure around 5" x 5".  Trimmed off the folded sides and made into a book.  Got the idea to make 'fat pages' from a member on the Forum.

Lots of pics and info on how made below.  Thanks all!

FAT BOOK FRONT

PAGE 1 & 2 - LENORE

PAGE 3 & 4 - THE TELL - TALE HEART

PAGES 4 & 5 - THE RAVEN

BACK
Short Stories on Deets

When I folded my advertisement, I did staple one side to help hold the pages in place.

Separated pages into 4 groups and then glued together pages with Tombow.
Started by inking all pages with Archival Ink Jet Black.
Then used Walnut Stain Ranger Distress Ink on all pages and blended into areas that the first ink did not get.

Next, I stamped all images from the Smeared Ink set Quoth the Raven (Feb 2013), which can be found in the Rubber Club Past Offerings, in Versa Mark ink.  All images were heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.

Went over images and randomly on page with Copper Inka Gold Metallic Rub, for each of the pages.
Once again went over pages with Archival Ink, using fingers to apply.
Repeated again with Rub and then Walnut Stain and last the Archival Ink once more.
Heated images again - this seemed to help bring out images again and burned the Rub a bit to give more definition to stamped images.

Used Washi tape for spine and used same inks and Rub to help blend into front and back covers.  I think Washi is Holtz.

Stamps in background from same stamp set and a background stamp called Hardwood (used on pages 3 & 4) all stamped with Black StazeOn ink.

Black Sharpie to write in bits of quotes from each of Edgar Allan Poe's Short Stories.

Note:  Metallic Rub and the treated wrinkled pages made it hard to read some of quotes in the pictures.  Below is a picture taken at another angle to help you see what is written.

Topping off the Details

Main image is a Smeared Ink Rubber Club set.  This stamp is from the set Morbidly Adorable Tarot (Jan 2014) and can be seen in the Rubber Club Past Offerings.

I inked the stamp with Versa Mark Ink.
Stamped onto foil, found in my kitchen drawer.
Used Pearl Ex colors and paint brush to color in image.
Used Crystal Effects over entire image.

Once dry, I inked up stamp again with Archival Black Ink.
Re-stamped over first image on top of dried Crystal Effects.
Used Butterscotch Alcohol Ink and Blendabilities (alcohol markers) to go over areas in image to help stand out a bit.
Adhered finished foil piece to Basic Black card stock.

Adhered ribbon (from Michael's) to back.
Once done adhered finished piece to top of lid.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Yes, it is the last Monday of the month of April and we are at it again with the monthly
Smeared Ink Design Team Blog Hop.

Shoni / Crafty Inknik - YOU ARE HERE
Theme this month is DO YOUR OWN THING.

I have made a Tag book to show off Smeared Ink's rubber stamps.  Check out the Smeared Ink Rubber Club for more information on how to get your crafty hands on these wonderful sets.  There are 8 pages and each have pockets to hold tags.  In the folding of this, there are also 2 extra pockets that are in between pages.  A total of 10 tags have been completed for this project.

There are a lot of pictures for this project so I will not keep you reading long.  That will be saved for after the picts.  You all know how much I like the deets!  Enjoy and happy hopping.

Hello again!
I wanted to keep the front and back pretty plain since there is so much going on in the inside.  I was going to try to stick to one stamp set, but as the theme was, Do Your Own Thing. So, I tried to use as many stamps from as many sets as I possibly could.
I love to layer and had so much fun mixing and matching sets.

I am going to give the gist of the deets and then the supplies and stamp sets listed below.
Thanks again for hopping and hope this was some inspiration for you for the week.  Now, go get crafty!

Smeared Ink Weekly DT Project

A busy week and headed out this weekend for a little get away.  Hope you all have a great weekend and be sure to stop by on Monday for the Smeared Ink Design Team Blog Hop.

For this project I am going to show the first page in a book that I have created using the Smeared Ink digital set Framed Rhymes.  I love nursery rhymes and just had to have when I saw Smeared Ink style nursery rhymes!

The first of four is Mary Mary Quite Contrary.

Growing the Details

Besides Framed Rhymes, I also used a Smeared Ink Rubber Club set called Killer Bo which is one of this months offering.  It has some great plants and skellie plants.

The edging around each page is masking tape, scrunched and wadded.
I then used White Gesso over the entire page to cover the original book.
Silver Metallic Inka Rub over edging.

Images was printed out onto card stock and colored in with markers and Blender Pen.

Random things from stash added to make page floral.

Sayings were printed out onto copy paper.

Inks, sprays, markers all used to make background colors and for stamped images.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Smeared and Smudged Forum - Very Sketchy March Challenge

New month, new challenges at the Smeared and Smudged Forum, in The Challenger Group to get your creative fingers and mind going.  I was inspired already and have a card for the Very Sketchy Challenge using March's sketch:

I started with an 12" x 5 1/2" piece of card stock.
Place card stock in scorer with 12" (long side) so that it is on the top and bottom.
Score @ 2", 4", 8", and 10".
Fold mountain, valley, valley, mountain on each scored line.
When folded, card measures 5 1/2" x 4".

Stamps used are a set from the Past Offerings of the Smeared Ink Rubber Club, Quoth The Raven (February 2013).  I also used a background stamp from SU! called Hardwood.

Images on side panels are stamped with Black Staze On onto acetate.
Framelit from Apothecary Accents set for the windows.

Inside panels are a Smeared Ink printed digital page from the set Poe Boy.

Mixture of 2 reds and grey acrylic paints for blood on inside panels.

Basic Black, Whisper White and Pool Party card stock used.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
