Smeared and Smudged Freaky Freebie July & SoSS #13

One day left to get in some projects for July.  Can't believe that this month is almost done.  Well I hope that some of you are getting in some crafty time this summer!

For this post I have a card using the Freaky Freebie July 2014 image from one of the monthly challenges at the Smeared and Smudged Forum.

This card will also be entered into the current Challenge #13 - L is for Layers at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers blog.  You must use a max of 2 layers, no more.

This little guy has been sitting on my desk waiting to be finished.  He is just damn adorable and sending out hugs and kisses to all.

 2014 July
Design Team Memeber Roll

SHONI - Crafty Inknik - You are here

The last week of July, holy moly how the time flies!  Hope you are having a great time blog hopping this morning.  You should have just arrived from a super teamie, Kapree.  Up next with another fab creation is Creepy Glowbugg.  We all love feedback, so leave a comment and let us know how wonderful (or un-wonderful) we are doing.

This month the theme was MONOCHROME.  Hum....and another hum....but it all came together once my new sets of rubber stamps arrived.  Get in on the fun and receive a sheet of Smeared Ink original rubber stamps from the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.

I have altered a plastic case to make a little box to keep shells or jewelery, or what-not in.  I have used the set The Abyss (June 2014) and one of my favorite images, the larger seahorse.

More details below and have a great Smeared Ink Design Team Blog Hop!

Aurora Wings #5 and Punk You Girl #14 Challenges

A lot of fun joining in the challenges this month.  Today I have made a flower notebook featuring a wonderfully digi stamp from Aurora Wings.  This project will be entered into the current challenge, #5 Sprite Delight - Use an Aurora Wings Sprite.   I have chosen the Day of the Dead Marigold Sprite and was sooo happy with how she turned out.  I only hope that my coloring is acceptable since the inspiration and talent of the Design Team over there is beyond fabulous.

I have also decided to enter this notebook into the Punk You Girl Challenge.  I was not sure, but I do believe that they are now accepting all kinds of projects and not only cards.  If I am mistaken, please forgive.  The Challenge #14 is Skeletons and Secrets.  I may be reaching with the Day of the Dead sprite, but hey if you don't enter, you don't win.  Please check out their Design Team, who also have put out their best for the rest of us.

HDH and ASiD #6 Challenges

Haunted Design House Macabre Monday Challenge is Alien Abduction/Invasion.  I was sooo excited and then had to leave town.  But thankfully I was able to get a project in this week.

One of my favorite top 5 SciFi is the 1956 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.  One of my favorite parts is when the human faced dog is shown on the street.  Awesome.
Then, a movie called Mars Attacks came out in 1996, and I again loved another human headed canine.  So with the wonderful use of alien pods and technology we have some fabulous new creatures.

My card for this challenge and the Anything Goes #6 Challenge over at A Step in the Dark blog was inspired by these two movies.  You all know I love cats, so had to adjust.

Check out the inspiration and get your creativity flowing by the out of this world Design Teams on HDH and ASiD.

Back from a week away from the fam.  Such a great time at the Stampin' Up! Convention and so nice not to cook or clean.

Home now and ready to enjoy the second half of the summer.  Okay, on to the post!

Today is my Weekly Smeared Ink Project which was inspired by the Very Sketchy Card sketch for July over at the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  I had colored in this image before I left and have been thinking on how to use it.  My layers are a bit different but the base structure is there.

The third week after school was out, I kept hearing from my kids that they were so boooorrrreeed.  Well I gave them plenty of options, but always "no."  So this card is for all those kids who have absolutely NOTHING to do during the summer.  =)

Oh! The Horror! July 2014 AJpage

On a roll today and was able to get another challenge done over at the Smeared and Smudged Forum.

Oh! The Horror! Challenge this month is based off the 2012 movie Sinister.  Ekk...the boogie man.

I was inspired and so created an Art Journal Page using Black Gesso.

Shhhhh.....or he'll hear the Deets

I started by applying Black Gesso to page in the form of the image from the movie.
Sprayed with water and then smushed the two pages together.  Will think on it some more and hope to get another entry in this month using the second page.

I added some color with inks and Aqua Painter.
Frame around page is with a stamp from the NYMPHS (Feb 2014) from the Rubber Club Past Offerings over at Smeared Ink.
A balloon stamp from Little Buddy Birthday (SU!) was used in lower left corner to make nooses.
Last is a background stamped called Netting (SU!) over entire page.

Black journaling pen to help define features and draw longer noose ends.
Spritzed water over page and smushed again with other page.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Smeared Ink Weekly DT Project and ASiD #5

Hope everyone had a wonderful fourth of July!  We were busy camping all week and now I finally get to play with some new wonderful purchases that have arrived while I was gone.  Woo hooo!

For this post I have created an Art Journal Page using Smeared Ink stamps an oldie but goodie technique that involves Clorox Bleach.

A Step In The Dark now has Challenge #5 - Dark Fantasy or Anything Goes up and ready.  Please see the fab inspiration done by their DT this round....WOW!

Sure...these are the Deets....
My Smeared Ink stamps are from the set called FRINGE (May 2014 #2).  You can get this rockin' set in the Rubber Club Past Offerings.  Join the Smeared Ink Rubber Club and receive a unique set each month.

Page was created by using Dylusion Spray inks, two colors.
Once dry, a Dyan Reaveley stencil was placed on the darker side.  With paint brush and bleach, I used a stencil as a guide to take away the darker color.
Again, once the bleach was dry, I used ink that kinda matched my lighter color and colored in with an Aqua Painter.
Placed stencil back over finished leaves and used a black journaling pen to help define shapes.

White Gel pen and black journaling pen to make vines/swirls, and highlights on leaves.

Stamps were inked with Versa Mark Ink and stamped onto dry page.
Black Embossing Powder over stamped images and heat set with gun.

Paint brush and Clorox Bleach once more over embossed images.
Re-painted images with inks.

Orange and leaves more vibrant in real life.
All materials used are current Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
