PHEASANT

Challenge 129
M is for Men

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Men cards are always lovely to do but I really don't do enough of them.  For this card I cut a circle of water colour paper and stamped the scene.  The pheasant was coloured with Prismacolour pencils and fussy cut.  That was as far as I got with my planning and that is also when I became totally stuck, what background to use.  Could not go with patterns as that would be over the top busy grrrr.  In the end I opted for a sheet of Mulberry paper in brown, sounded great but boy did it look dead.  By now I was seriously confuzzled on what to do and in a moment of desperation picked up my fan shaped paintbrush and some gold paint and stroked that over the Mulberry paper - perfect.  I love the finish and will be doing this again, just enough texturing without being fussy.  The sentiment was cut out with gold vinyl and mounted on foam tape and the pheasant was attached last.  Do like the simplicity of this card and the 'nature' feel that is carried through all be it unintentional :)

Cross Stitch Rose

Challenge 121
FOLDS (more than one fold)

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I don't know what was in my head but all I could think of was black and white so I went with the flow for this challenge to keep my head quiet lol.  I tend to make all my cards square and buy them as card packs, not out of being lazy I don't think but more to do with having uniform cards for selling.  Making fun shaped cards if fun I agree but for the amount of time that goes into them and often having to make your own envelope too I am not sure they are fully appreciated by non crafters to the degree they should be and they are often hard to display too.  OK, so there is my reasoning for my card not being full of fancy folds hahaha, sorry Ike and Ginny :) :)

For this card I started by folding the right hand edge of the front of my card over a third of the way.  I then covered the left side of the card front and the right side of the inside of the card with a very old sheet of design paper from one of several pads I have kicking around that don't see the light of day very often.  The image was printed out in black and die cut with a black embossed die underneath it and finished off with black glitter sticky back dots.  This section was mounted on the front of the card with double sided tape.  A very, very simple and quick card to make so I feel a bit ashamed of myself but I do love the end result and hope you do too.

Embossing

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Oh what fun making this card and I loved the chance to use a digi Ike drew a while ago when I requested a coffee cup lol.  How cool is it to be able to use images from the past again and again.  For this embossing challenge I embossed my craft card base and then used Distress Oxides to enhance with colour the embossed bits.  The second bit of embossing was with the foiling where I used and embossing folder rather aptly with the birthday sentiment and turquoise heat active foil, love the way this turned out with just a bit of bling for the card.  The image was coloured with Promarkers, nice to have them out again, don't seem to have played with them much recently. I also used some stamps I have with a coffee theme and these were used for the coffee bean border and centre of the heart plus a sentiment for the coffee mug.  I finished off with 4 half pearls in a lovely chocolate brown colour.

    Die Cuts

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I have had this jigsaw die for absolutely ages, think I picked it up in a sale knowing I had got a bargain then never used it.  How fabulous is it for this challenge :).  To make my card I embossed some design paper and used it to cover my card blank.  I then printed Ike's digital image, Peony Corner and coloured it with Promarkers.  Using the jigsaw die for the cutting of the image I then mounted alternate pieces using 3D tape. onto pink pearl paper.   Finally a small happy birthday die which my daughter gave me last Christmas, Oh and another die cut lacy square which I used under the image layer.  I have no idea what was going on when I photographed this card, so squint and I apologies for that, must have been a bad day lol.

    CAS

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I love CAS cards but boy are they hard to do.  When I look at ideas for CAS cards for inspiration so many are just beautiful in their simplicity but when I try then look at the end product I feel it is so unfinished and it is such a temptation to add more but then it wouldn't be CAS would it :)

For my DT creation for this challenge I used one of the sock puppet images from the SOCKIES set, such a fun set of images that you just can't help smiling at.  I coloured the image with Promarkers then added a bit of shading and the knitted pattern with Prismacolour pencils.  The image was then cut out ready to go on the inside of the card.  Next I cut a couple of circular strips and coloured them to match the sockie dog and using the smallest of the circles I was working with cut the corner off the card blank.  Only a wee bit of stamping to do, the sentiment and then it was time to assemble.

    Sitting Angel Child

    Challenge 117
    Blue

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Still trying to work on a couple of art journals for my kids, so far they have been occasionally picked up and added to over the past 3 years lol.  I am not in any hurry to finish them which is just as well.  Anyway for this Blue challenge I decided to use Ike's fab image Sitting Angel Child and create a soft blue background for her.  Since Mum died in August I keep finding white feathers everywhere, out on walks, in the garden, one in the house etc. as Mum always used to say a white feather was a sign an angel is near :)  So that pretty much explains this journal page.  I used Distress Oxides for the background which once the base layer was on over stamped with flourishes and bubbles.  The angel was also coloured with Distress Oxides and the skin coloured with Polychromes and so she had something to sit on I used white embossing powder to create a dense cloud effect then added gold and bronze mica flakes.  Using some white feathers, a lovely we wooden heart to which I added a blue heart gem blue flat backed pearls completed the right hand side of the page.  To finish off I printed my text bits and stuck them on.

    Animals

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

What a lovely challenge to begin the year, animals, mans best friends :)  For this card I used Ike's image DACHSHUND.  I have always loved this image but only used it a couple of times as I don't know anybody with a dachshund lol.  The creation of this card was a wee bit different.  I used a famous painting for the background!!! and then modified it a bit with blurring techniques in Photoshop.  Next I added the dachshund image and printed using acetate.  The image was then coloured from behind so the card top has a wonderful shiny layer.  The colouring of the image was far from easy, using several brown shades of my Promarkers but I couldn't get any depth of colour so I then added some Tim Holtz Distress Oxides applied with a paint brush to create the shadows, not a great success but the overall card turned out OK.  Once the colouring was done I mounted it on my matting and added a copper Thinking of You peel off sentiment.

    Hunky Potter

    Challenge 115
    Christmas Time

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

My youngest daughter is HP mad, even at the age of 36 she can't get enough - of HP that is hahaha.  She is also not into frills or lace or I suspect the types of cards I like making but I know she loves the effort that goes into them.  Anyway this year I went pleading to Ike to help me out with an HP based image so I could use it on Nicole's Christmas card this year and WOW, Ike, you smashed the idea with the wonderful HUNKY POTTER image.  I think this is one card my daughter is really going to love although her other half won't as she is into VW's :) :) Thanks Ike for helping me out, you know how much I appreciate what you do xxx

I created the card by first using a starry sky background to which I then placed the Hunky Potter image removing the white background. I also removed some text which Ike had on the image as I wanted the area left blank.  I then used the same starry sky to create the sentiment tag and added the text personalising it for Nicole and Meesh.  The colouring was done with Prismacolour pencils and Promarkers with the addition of gold and bronze pens here and there.  Once all the colouring was done I cut the sections out and matted both the coloured image and the sentiment topper onto silver card ready for adding to my card blank.  The sentiment topper was added with foam tape for extra dimension.

I do so love a colour challenge and this one was perfect.  I needed a decent sized picture to go in our spare bedroom and felt like a bit of experimenting.  We have a great printer here were I lived so after discussion with the company and working out which paper/card would be the best to try for mixed media painting and would also work with alcohol markers I set to creating the image ready for printing in A3 size.  I used a cat background and superimposed the image KRAYZEE KATZ, this was then fired off to the printers - Fantasy Prints, Berwick upon Tweed.  Great, only a day to wait and then I collected my A3 black outline image.  The background cats were then coloured with Promarkers and the main design a mixture of acrylic paint and stick-back fuzzy felt.  To create the shapes for the fuzzy felt I converted the Krayzee Katz image to an svg. and sent it to my die cutter.  To complete the picture I added a few gems and google eyes along with the sentiment which was also cut using fuzzy felt.

I just love this picture, so much fun and placed in an A2 picture frame it is just perfect size to go on the wall.

    Christmas In July

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Now if I am honest I don't know what mood I was in when I made this card, I don't do red very often and this card is SOOOOooo red lol and the thought of Christmas while it is only July, well no comment there :)  Anyway, a Christmas card or sorts has been created, I do like hot chocolate though and this awesome coffee cup image was perfect as the base for my Christmas hot chocolate.  I added some stamped holly around the rims of the cup and saucer and coloured the image with Promarkers.  After fussy cutting I placed the image on a die cut base and layered this onto red  shiny card.  I needed to add some foam to my chocolate so added some flower soft, nice bit of texture too.  The front of the card was finished with some pre cut holly leaves and red Stickle dots for the berries.  With such a 'loud' front to this card the inside looked very sad so I added a red die cut border to bring it to life.  I still had some red shiny paper left so added a section to the envelope and used my wee holly stamp to create a border.   I did have fun with this one and hopefully it will warm the heart of the recipient with being all red lol.

Ike, you are a superstar, thank you so much for drawing this wonderful digi for me to work with for this challenge :) :) :)

For the background (I meant to do music but got carried away with the flowers hahahaha) I used a leaf stencil and Distress Oxides, blitzed with some water and left to dry. Using Photoshop I placed the Hydrangea bloom three times, resizing and rotating each time.  Once I was happy with the layout I printed the image on to the background paper.  The flowers were coloured with Prismacolour pencils and the centre of each finished of with Liquid Pearls. The butterflies were cut using acetate and coloured with Promarkers, I love the translucent look this gives.  To complete the card I added a simple sentiment and then decorated the inside of the card with my leaf stencil and Distress Oxides again.

For the Monochromatic challenge this month I have taken myself right out of my comfort zone by using yellow as my theme colour, I tend to head straight for blues and purples and avoid red, orange or yellow lol.  Somehow, yellow seemed to be the right colour for these adorable stitchy cats, just looking at the wonderful smily faces made me think of summer sun :) :) :)   The cats were coloured with Promarkers for a change, have not used them in a long time as have a passion for my pencils at the moment.  They were then fussy cut and added to the circle layer with foam tape.  I was a bit stuck on the background so designed a footprint stencil and cut it with my Silver Bullet, I also made the fish bone circle in the same way.  The background was coloured with Distress Inks in a couple of shades of yellow and then the paw prints and fish bones in a darker orangy yellow shade.  I kept the off cuts from the fish bones and coloured them with Promarkers and added them as an embellishment in the top right corner.  To finish off I added the sentiment and attached it with a couple of brads.  I had so much fun with the Distress Inks I decided to colour and stencil the envelope too hahahaha.

    Photo Inspiration - Spring

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

My final canvas for a while (need to buy some more hahaha), it has been a super fun journey creating the canvas creations so will have to do some more.

This forthnights challenge at IKEsWORLD is Photo Inspiration - Spring and I have used one of my all time favourite digi's - Spring Fairy, she is so full of movement and beautifully proportioned I keep coming back to her.

I used a 20cm x 20cm canvas for this creation.  The background was created digitally using a photo, the Spring Fairy image and the sentiment and printed.  I then used Pan Pastels to soften the background image some more and coloured the image with Polychromes.  With the colouring done I trimmed and stuck the paper to the canvas using a permanent adhesive spray.  I tried using SN glitter pens for the leaves but did not like how that turned out so went over them with my go to Stickles.  For the flowers I used a very small flower die to create all 50+ of them hahah, each was then finished with some purple Stickles and a tiny orange seed bead.  My grandson, who is 8, rather liked this canvas so I offered it to him, his reply was ' it is a bit girly for my bedroom' hahahaha so I get to keep it myself :)

Ahhh, what a fab challenge to end the year, to be able to make a vintage looking card and incorporate one of my favourite textiles - lace :) :) :).  For this card I used some old digital music sheet paper and distressed the edges with Distress Inks. For the second layer I added a page curl and edge the layer with lace trim.  The sentiment was stamped on and the image which was coloured with Polychromes and then fussy was attached with foam tape for a bit of dimension.  To finish off a wee lace bow and a white rose which I coloured pink.

    London cake box

    Challenge 102
Anything Goes With an optional twist Cakes

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Cakes, cakes, cakes - should one bake for this challenge or, should one buy a cake and decorate it, possibly, I don't know hahahaha.  I think I opted for the easy option here and decided to make a box of a slice of cake to go into, it saves cooking which I hate.  I had planned on one of those old 99p frozen cream sponge cakes but could not find one in good old Tesco so ended up with a lemon flan thing that looked edible.  Apart from it having sat in my fridge for a week as I seemed to have been caught up in family stuff and only had time now to take the photo so the pastry base is somewhat soggy the topping was quite nice, tasted like a good quality lemon curd, perfect for a late breakfast hahaha.

Anyway, I used the image London and coloured it digitally.  It is a great collage image of what London visitors like to see, have to admit I have not been back to London for 36 years and have no plans to return !!!! I hate the place, give me open space, countryside, wildlife (not the 2 legged homo-sapian sort) any day :) :) :).  Once the image was coloured I then used another piece of software to make it into a 'tile' and then using Photoshop created my tiled London paper.  Great fun and certainly kept me quietly occupied while in my relaxing chair watching TV one evening.

This is the image I used - London by IKEsART

And here is my made digital paper having coloured the image and created it into a tile.

The paper was printed and used to cover a die cut cake slice box I made.  A flag was made to add to the top of the box with a suitable sentiment which in this case is suitable for the challenge option them and not in the least suitable for the contents of the box. Oh well, I think this is the perfect time for the old saying - You can't have your cake and eat it Ike!!!!!!! hahahahaha

In my happy place with this bag I created just in time to fill it with some special gifts for Christmas. Oh I love birds so much and often wish I could be like them, wings to fly and explore the world with no need for all the hassle at airports and no need to apply for visas to travel :) :) :) I have used this image several times, a real favourite of mine and I think he looks wonderful on the front of the bag.  I created the Let It Snow sentiment in Illustrator and then exported as an svg. to my die cutting program.  The background paper was also digitally designed with the image of the BlueTit super imposed and then coloured with Polychromos crayons.  I bought this very odd snow stuff for my Grandson last year so pinched that back, have to admit I was rather surprised to find when I opened the bag it was all clear plastic chopped up, yucky to work with but has the right effect. I finished of with a good old tartan bow to pick up the red of the berries and represent my Scottish roots (yep I am proud of them, I originate from the Highlands north of Inverness through my great grandfather's side.

For this very special challenge, so hard to believe we are on our 100th Challenge, time just flies by these days - the first challenge went live on 11th of September 2013!!!  Ike has a wonderful pile of goodies to be won along with other gifts from friends and sponsors.  CONGRATULATIONS IKE, you are an amazing lady and it is a privilege to have been on you DT over the last couple of years :) :) :)

    Ike's Candy Pile

And now for my DT Inspiration for this challenge :)

I pondered about this card and which route to take to celebrate the 100th - should it be a congrats card for Ike, and Ginny too who does so much behind the scenes with the DT, should it be a favourite image or what.  In the end I decided to use the freebie image from the first challenge that went live - FASHIONISTA'. The background graffiti paper was printed digitally after I had created the text which was white so I could colour it by hand later.  The image was printed, coloured with Polychromes and then fussy cut and attached to the background.  I coloured the text with a gold pencil and then added 3D dimensional on top to give it a nice touchy feely finish.  Finally I added three plastic dots.  A pretty simply card technically but fun to do :)  Just for fun here is the card I created for Ike's first challenge, a totally different look lol :-

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Another challenge I was a bit stuck with as I never feel comfortable working with these colours, I am a blue and purple gal hahaha.  I know so many folks love Autumn but for me it means the onset of winter with super short days and long long nights, lots of rain and wind and altogether a totally rubbish time of year weather wise so it is something I certainly don't celebrate.  I do have a good friend who loves Autumn so this card is winding its way to the USA to adorn her mantlepiece :).  Ike very kindly drew me a bunch of leaves to work with which I used both to create the collage background paper and also printed tons of leaves in a reduced size and fussy cut them to make the pile of leave which have fallen off the tree.  The background paper was designed in Photoshop and printed out with no colour, I then used my Distress Oxides to add the colour.

Rather like the outcome and throughly enjoyed all the fussy cutting of the leaves, maybe I am an oddball but I do find fussy cutting rather relaxing, maybe it is because I can have a lethal weapon (my super sharp scissors) in my hand and can snip away at my non feeling paper to relieve the pent up annoyance with society hahahaha and at least this is a legal way to relieve my frustrations hehehehe.

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I just love this image and it is a wee while since I last used it, this challenge is the perfect chance to use it again.  The background was coloured with Distress Oxides and then I used a stencil and silver ink to add some more texture.  The image was coloured with Polychromos and then SN glitter clear pen on the scales to add the sheen.  To finish off I used some underwater themed stamps.

    Ingredients:-
    • image - Bride set of 4 by IKEsART
    • colouring medium - Polychromos crayons
    • other items - stencil; silver, blue and green stamp pads; clear shells, coral, fish and sentiment
