Paper Piecing

Come and join us at I ❤️Promarkers, our challenge theme is

'Paper Piecing'

I hardly ever do paper piecing so had a lot of fun with this challenge :) The image I used from IkeArt is African Man from AFRICA - World Tour Series Set of 5.  I coloured the man with Promarkers and then cut his had and clothes to be paper pieced.  The background was created digitally and I got it from Vecteezy.  I am pretty sure this gentleman is a Nigerian, as growing up in Nigeria this was pretty much the regular clothing of the day :) :)

Krayzee Katz

The challenge this fortnight at I ❤️Promarkers is
 'Add a Ribbon'

and the sponsor for this challenge is IKEsART with $15 prize to spend in the store

For this card I have used an image I love and have used quite a few times, KRAYZEE KATZ, so much fun to colour especially on a day when I really did not feel like anything detailed.  The image was coloured with Promarkers, both alcohol and metallic and then fuzzy cut.  I then decided on a 'strong' background and opted for the burnt orange paper with added black trims.  Had a boo boo here, just when everything was going so well too hahahahaha.  I love the black die cut border and really don't use it enough so today it came out the packet to be played with, just a shame I did not engage my brain.  Grabbing some black paper I used a double sided glue sheet to line the back of the black paper which would make the laying down of the die on the card easier.  Sent it off through the die cutter and then set about trimming the edges expecting the lovely pattern without a border and not even thinking that without the border all the bits would fall out and the border would end up being just a bunch of loose shapes.  Oh I could kick myself for being such an idiot.  Well everything happens for a reason I guess and once I got over my hissy fit I weeded all the bits I did not need out of the die and replace the pieces I did want.  I then peeled off the backing of the sticking paper on the top piece and positioned it still in the die, on my card - perfect.  The process was repeated for each section and it was lovely and easy to line it up perfectly as the die slotted into position on the already placed sections.  Next I stamped my sentiment and cut it out using a tag die, attached it to the card and placed the cats in position.  Finally onto the bow and everything was done.  I just love the way this card has turned out so a happy bunny in the end :) :)

Warp Clock

The challenge this fortnight at I ❤️Promarkers is
'Use a Die Cut or Punch'

and the sponsor for this challenge is IKEsART with $15 prize to spend in the store

For this weeks challenge of 'Use a Die or Punch' along with Promarkers of course I decided to have a bit of fun during play time.  Honestly, I did not really feel like any detailed colouring, my head would not settle down enough for that so instead a bit of experimenting. The other day I did a background using felt pens and water along with a plastic bag and that was such fun to do so I decided to do something similar with my Promarkers to make the backing paper.  Obviously I could not use water to spray on them but alcohol blending solution works perfectly (Isopropyl Alcohol and glycerine).  Instead of long explanations here are a few pics :

Place the paper on top of the plastic bag and allow it to soak up the ink. I did this 3 times.

The finished piece of A4 paper to be used for the card base and cut out layer.

With the backing paper ready I then stamped and die cut the egg timer and pocket watch, printed my sentiment and Warp Clock digi.  Instead of detailed colouring I air brushed the sections and put to one side while I sorted the cut out layer.

OK, I know this card is a bit off beat but just now I have no idea what the day of the week it is never mind what the time is - everything is out of kilt so to speak.  Think there are a lot of folks who feel the same, we don't know if we are coming or going lol.  Hang in there folks, all will be well in the end.

Just a quick pick to show the tools used to make this card :)

Zebra

The challenge this fortnight at I ❤️Promarkers is
 'Anything Goes'

and the sponsor for this challenge is IKEsART with $15 prize to spend in the store

For my DT inspiration I have used the zebra of Ike's images KRAZY KRITTERZ #1 - SET of 7.  Now I have to admit just now as much as I love colouring I am finding there are days where my concentration levels fly out the window and I just want something simple to play with and not have to think about blends, shading etc.  This image was just perfect, a really fun guy that brought lots of smiles while creating with him :) :) After the colouring and sentiment were sorted I used Pan Pastels for the background added some Flower Soft for a bit of texture where the zebra is standing.  The design paper was a fun and games, I knew I had some zebra backing paper which I bought years ago and after a few hours of hunting for it I found it was totally wrong, much too grown up and detailed for this card.  My little thinking cap needed to be put on for a few minutes to find another way to make my zebra card base backing paper.  In the end I placed a sheet of white paper on top of a piece of black paper, drew some zebra stripes and then cut both sheets together.  I then used the white sheet with the stripes cut out as my backing paper and placed this on my card then used the cut out stripes from the black paper to inlay and fill in the gaps.  Rather like how it turned out and had a lot of fun just cutting and sticking paper hahahaha.

Lilac

The challenge this fortnight at I ❤️Promarkers is
 'Anything Goes'
and the sponsor for this challenge is IKEsART with $15 prize to spend in the store

For my design creation I have used the IKEsART image Lilac, I have had this image for quite a while and loved it from day one but shamefully, this is the first time I have coloured it.  I had such plans for this card in my head and grrrrrr they fell apart when I tried to pull them off but never mind, I had fun really and sometimes it is good to have an experimental day lol.  I did want to have a yellow and orange alcohol ink background with the image printed on acetate and coloured from behind but the Promarkers were not dark enough to stop the inked layer below it shining through.  So I opted for a clean and sharp card instead hahahaah.  This card has several simple layers with a white layer behind the mauve vellum gingham layer to keep the clarity of the colour.  The sentiment is stamped with Hero Arts white stamp pad, the addition of a few gems and a wee butterfly were all that was needed to complete the overall effect.

All about 3's

The challenge this fortnight at I ❤️Promarkers is
 '3 Different Embellishments'
and the sponsor for this challenge is IKEsART with $15 prize to spend in the store

For my design creation I have used the IKEsART image  Surprise Pug.  I have had this image for several years and shied away from colouring it until now.  Anyway, a bit of Google searching to get a better idea of their colouring and face markings got me going lol (I am a German Shepherd lover haha)

The image was coloured with Promarkers and then fussy cut and added to the background then a brown mat was added.  I cut the die cut out of the same paper used for the mat added to the top layer.  To finish the card I created my sentiment added my next two embellishments, the bow and some pearls.
3 embellishments - die cut corner, bow and pearls.
Promarkers used - Black, Umber, Warm Grey 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Cool Grey 4, Tan, Putty, Almond, Satin, Antique Pink, Cocktail Pink, Pink Carnation and Pale Pink.

Blossom Shoe

The challenge this fortnight at I ❤️Promarkers is
 'Anything Goes'
and the sponsor for this challenge is IKEsART with $15 prize to spend in the store

For my design creation I have used the IKEsART image Blossom Shoe (one of a set of 4)  I love this image and have used it a few times, always colouring it in. For this Promarker challenge I thought I would try something different and use my Promarkers to colour the background and use the colours to only colour the flowers and leaves on the shoe.  There was a bit of experimenting going on lol, to begin with I just used a ruler but soon discovered although my lines were straight there was a positive lean on the left side of the card and at the rate this was happening it would soon be a steep mountain effect :).  Next I tried adding the lines in Photoshop using the colours I would be colouring in, that looked like a good idea but my brain cell didn't really think how small the areas to colour would be once I had printed, anyway I completed the background with in this case Flex Markers and then coloured the leaves and flowers.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was heat foiled in gold and the flowers on the shoe have two coats of Mod Podge Dimensional Magic although the scanner when I scanned the image has not picked this up.

So I was not totally happy with drawing in the faint lines so for a second attempt I added a wee grid to each side of the image and printed again.  Using a ruler to give cleaner, sharper edges I drew my lines in the colours I was colouring with using my Promarkers then coloured in the areas that needed filling.  Much better, just needed to remember to clean and dry my ruler after each line draw :) :) Just a shame here the lines look squint but that is my fault with the scanning and straightening of the image.  Can I blame that on my glasses hahahaha or maybe tired eyes after a long day :) :) Again I heat foiled the sentiment and finished off with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic.

Oh Poe!!!!

Challenge 113
Oct-POE-ber - Celebrating Edgar Allan POE / Halloween

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

For this card I went all arty lol.  I started by getting a copy of the poem, The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe and using it to create my design paper using Photoshop.  I also added the IKEsART image, Lenore and reduced the opacity of this to make it more of a watermark.  Once printed I coloured the background with Distress Inks and and for Lenore I used water colour pencils.  This layer was mounted on black card and then some Tim Holtz Crackle solution was smeared around areas of the background and put to one side to dry well.  For the raven I used Ike's image Raven Poe an printed twice on two different types of black card, one matt and the other a little shiny.  With the shiny printed raven, I used the lines that would normally be used for shading and fussy cut them so, once the matt raven outline was fussy cut I could place the shiny layer on top.  With the Lenore layer dry I added so DP to the base of my card, added the Lenore layer and then the raven with his wiggly eye.  To complete the front of the card I added a Happy Birthday die cut.

Close up of the raven -  I have played with the image colour settings so the layers are clearer..

I then used the DP and black paper to create a decorative edge inside the card.

Ingredients:-
  • image - The Raven and Lenore , by IKEsART

Oh what fun making this card, I so love Ike's female images, not OTT but they scream seduction in the most beautiful way LOL.  For this card I went with a totally different colour combo, browns, olive and burgundy.  To start with I found some burgundy paper and embossed it with a key design, this was then used to back my card blank.  I then used Distress Inks to do the background then ran this, when dry, through my laser printer to add the text ready for foiling.  Such fun adding the text with foil and great when you don't have a suitable sentiment stamp.  The background layer was then mounted on gold card.  The image was coloured with Prismacolour pencils, again not the usual skin tones as I tried to pick up some of the colours I used in the background.  Simple die cuts in gold and burgundy along with a metal embellishment completed the card front.

This card is for my youngest daughter's birthday, she love scuba diving so this seemed a good theme for her LOL.  Thank you so much Ike for drawing all these wonderful fish for me, they couldn't be more perfect :).  I started by using Distress Inks to create the background which I then ran through my printer to get the black laser text to which I then foiled with gold foil.  I designed a border for each side of the card and printed this then coloured with Prismacolours, finally fussy cutting and adding to the card.  A super scuba diving die cut which was perfect for the card was finally added.
Simple stamping on the inside of the card completed the project, think she will like this one and will be pleasantly surprised it is not a rugby based card for a change :) :) :)

Anything Goes with an optional TWIST .... Relax

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

I have just retuned from the Middle East permanently so back in the UK now, at least the sun is shining at the moment but I am already missing our old life.  It is pretty hard to adjust to this very different way of life here but thankfully I was thinking in advance and already had some crafty items waiting for me in my UK house (nearly all my craft items are now in a relocation shipment, some will arrive in about 4 weeks the rest in the main shipment will be with me in about 4 months).  Can't say I am feeling very creative so have gone with a heavily coloured creation using Ike's 'The River', which certainly entertained me for a few hours lol.  So why this image for this challenge, well I like to try and follow the 'twist' themes which are optional and for me, the most relaxing time is when I can escape to nature with no phone, computer or other means of communicating with the modern world.  I find I can recharge my batteries in these peaceful locations and then sort of cope in the human world without losing my rag every 5 minutes !!!!!! :) :) :)

The bird is a polymer stamp and was coloured with S/N sparkle pens, the sentiment is also a stamp and stamped with Memento black ink.

Ingredients:-
  • image - The River by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - SN markers and Polychromos crayons
  • other items - clear stamps for bird and sentiment

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Ike draws the most beautiful women and here is another gorgeous one called 'Wind Fairy'.  She is so beautiful I wanted her to fill most of my card space lol and then add a simple cloud background.  The Wind Fairy was coloured with Promarkers and Polychroms and the background was created with Pan Pastels.  The rainbow was printed on acetate so the image would shine through.

My Mum is getting pretty old and struggling with Alzheimer's now so each week I make a card which I can send to her.  She can't cope with long letters anymore as as she and I are separated by many miles a card landing on her doorstep each week brightens her moment a wee bit.  So this card is a bit sentimental too, one day she will no be here on earth as the Wind Fairy is how I see my Mum in her next life.  As I don't know exactly where in the universe the next life it I chose to represent it with the sky background and yes, the rainbow, this represents that one day we will meet again, that goodbye on this earth is not the end, just the closing of a door in this dimension.  While Mum and I are together on earth she has, may a time, coloured my day with her unending love, her passion for nature, her belief in living by her good values and her respect for all around her.  She is and always will be a shining example of how one should live their lives and I love her so dearly, truly honoured to have her as my Mum.  I hope this card will make her smile when she receives it by snail mail :)

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Oh Ike, you are such a superstar, thank you for drawing the coffee cups for me :) :) :) Yep folks, I was not sure how to do the twist on this challenge and could only think of using Ike's images to make a background so I mentioned to Ike what I wanted to do and could she please draw me some coffee cups to work with :)

I used 3 of the coffee cup images from Ike and overlaid them to make a random background.  I then used distress inks to add the colour.  Next I digitally created my sentiment and again coloured with distress inks and added lace to the top sentiment also coloured with distress inks.  To finish off I used one of the coffee cup images and printed it very small, coloured it with Promarkers and fussy cut then added some gold sparkle varnish.  The final bit of my card was to add some ground coffee which is glued on with PVA.  Have to say, at this moment in time my card smell yummy, so much so I have had to go and make myself a posh coffee with real coffee, not the instant stuff :)

Ingredients:-

Anything Goes with an optional TWIST .... BE YOU

Welcome back to the IKEsWORLD challenges :)  do pop on over to IKEsWORLD to join in the challenge, it is always so much fun and  Ike produces the most amazing stamps, everything from off the wall to cute and fluffy :) :) :)

Today sees the start of the new IKEsWORLD challenge - AG with optional twist, Be You.  LOL - be me, where do I start, use a bed image as I love to sleep, use a horse image as I am in love with my horse and love being at the stables, use flowers as nature is always close to my heart and I marvel at the colours and textures of flowers . . . . and the list to go on and on.  However, I am really trying this year to make things that have a use as I find many of the items I put together don't really have a use and just sit there.  So my first question was not 'Be Me' but what can I find a home for hahahaha.  Not that difficult, a birthday card for my daughter, next question, what do we have in common as this is also following the twist - Be Me - well we are both Capricorns.  Now I have the outlet for my creation I am a happy bunny.  So how is this card me - well, as mentioned I am a Capricorn and the traits of a Capricorn pretty much sum me up (only putting the nice ones on the card though) :) :) and at this moment in time I do have blue hair!!!  When hubby saw me colouring this his first comment was "Ah you are doing your hair" so yep, the colours are pretty close to what mine is like but mine is longer than the image!!!!

I coloured the image DayDream with Polychromos and then used Pan Pastels for the background.  Next I used a Tim Holtz stencil and airbrushed with Promarkers to get the texture.  A silver birthday sticker was coloured with a black Promarker and added to the card, the rest of the text was written by hand.  For the dark green layers I used backing paper, the top layer was embossed with a Crafter Companion Hessian folder then both layers were sprayed with some gold glitter varnish also from Crafters Companion.

Ingredients:-
  • image - DayDream by IKEsART
  • colouring medium - Polychromos and Pan Pastels
  • from my stash - Tim Holtz stencil, green backing paper, birthday sticker, Crafter Companion gold glitter spray and hessian embossing folder.

Oops thought I had the clock face straight when I took this picture (should have put my glasses on hahaha) - anyway, sorry it is a bit off centre.  Most of this project was completed digitally.  I first positioned 12 of the digital image 'Pathanon Horse' in the correct position and then added the numbers and hour points.  Next I added another layer to my design for the background which I embossed and then added a gradient.  The horses were then coloured on two separate layers, one dark for the manes and bases and the other light grey with a texture added.  Once the digital designing was completed I printed the design and mounted it on thick card then cut it out.  Onto the clock which is from Ikea.  I dismantled the clock and covered it in black vinyl then attached my printed clock face.  Next I finished off the centre of the clock with some pearls and metal beads and finally added the perspex top layer of the clock with the red hand already marked onto it (part of the original clock design).  To finish of I die cut a couple of corners in grey card using a Tattered Lace die.

Now I rather liked this image Ike has just drawn and so perfect for this challenge but I had to and find out what this Ground Hog thing is all about as it is somewhat new to me.  I guess living in Saudi we pretty much know what the weather will be, Summer all year long although we do have a sort of winter when the winds pick up and the temperatures drop and then in the Summer it is rather like an over lol but a true winter as I know we have in the UK, well I have not seen one of those for a wee while now and don't really have any desire to see on in the near future.  I guess I am a sunshine lover through and through :)  I know the digi image has snowflakes but the nearest we get to the wet stuff is a wee bit of rain so I am going to pretend the snowflakes are big drops of water sparkling in the sun hahaha.

To finish off I used white Liquid Pearls on the flower centres.

Fashion, ummmm, fashion, ummmmmm - yep, you get the idea, I had to put my old brain cell into action for this one.  I seem to have fallen out with cards at the moment so a bit of die cutting on the agenda I think.  I don't do fashion and I don't do handbags lol (I do do girly shoes when I get the chance though hehehe).  However, a bag it is :)

For this challenge inspiration I have used a great pattern from SVG.Cuts - Luxury Handbags.  I cut the bag sections using white card and then embossed the card with a Crafter's Companion leaf embossing folder.  This is a cracking embossing folder, just a section of a large leaf concentrating on the veins and blemishes found, total gorgeousness :).  Next I airbrushed with a couple of shades of pink and finally rubbed over the embossed sections with an oil pastel to pick up the textures.
Next I assembles all section of the bag adding lace to the overlay sections and pearls. With this all done I now set to colouring the carnation from the Spain Bundle, I printed two one of which I reversed.  The carnations were then fussy cut and glued to the bag.
Finally I added leaf brads to attach the handle to the bag and a pink tassel plus an opal brad to the front fold over section.
And there we have it, a pretty pink box bag ready for some goodies to be placed inside :)

Ingredients:-
  • Image - carnation from the Spain Bundle available from IKEsART
  • Colouring medium - Promarkers, Polychromos, oil pastel
  • Die cut - Luxury Handbags from SVG cuts
  • From my stash - Lace, pearls, brads, tassel

Another candle from me for this challenge but I think it will be the last for a wee while as I seem to have made so many recently.  The song I have used for this creation is Spanish Dancer by Patti Scialfa - you can read the lyrics here and the image very fittingly is also called Spanish Dancer.

To begin with I designed the background on Photoshop and added another of Ike's images, a map of spain.  The next layer contained the lyrics from the song Spanish Dancer and on the final layer I placed the Spanish Dancer image with the white background removed.  The wrapper is now ready for printing and then I can finish the rest of the colouring.
The image was coloured with Faber Castell Polychromos and then attached to the Ikea 9" candle.  If you would like to see how I decorate my candles please have a look at the video :)
