Free Hugs Cactus; Printable Cuttable Creatables

Hi there. I'm here to share a fun project I created for Printable Cuttable Creatables Design Team. Free Hugs Cactus cut file can be used for anything, but I decided to put it on a red t-shirt for my granddaughter. Because of the small size, I was able to use all HTV scraps for this project!

Once I cut out all the pieces (don’t forget to mirror the image if you’re using HTV!), I layered the pieces so I could determine which piece to iron on first.

Then, before pressing onto the shirt, I needed to find the middle of each section so it would be centered on the shirt. I folded the sections and used my fingernail to add a crease at the middle.

Folded & pressed the shirt at the center as well. Then you just have to match the crease line on the shirt to the crease line on the different sections.

Originally, I used the Mini Press but switched to the Easy Press as the layers were building up since I needed more coverage.

Press each section for about 5 to 6 seconds and cover the entire image with teflon or parchment paper between presses. This will ensure that the iron doesn’t burn the vinyl and honestly, protect your iron!  On the final layer, press the entire image for the full 30 seconds (or whatever your press time is.)

Look how fun the glitter needles are!

It wasn’t intentional but since I was determined to use scraps, they were in my scrap pile and worked perfectly! And here’s the final project. I love this image on the red t-shirt. It really makes everything POP!

Bee Kind; PrintableCuttableCreatables

My daughter-in-law asked me to personalize some items for two of my granddaughters but I didn't want to leave the baby out. I used the BE KIND SVG cut file from PrintableCuttableCreatables for this cute addition to a plain white onesie.

The thing I love about working with PrintableCuttableCreatables images is that there are multiple choices to use depending on the type of material you plan on using.

I selected the image group suitable for HTV and the one with open wings.  So easy to cut, weed and apply!

I used the mini press to apply the image to the onesie. The mini press is perfect for small projects like this!

And here's the final project!

From Hulk to She Hulk; Costume Change

My kiddos wanted their youngest daughter to be She Hulk for Halloween, but they couldn't find a costume for her. They purchased a cute baby Hulk onesie costume and asked if I could make changes to it.

Of course I can! Here's my cutie patootie granddaughter in the completed costume with the changes:

The onesie went from this:

To this with just some quick changes:

Check out the YouTube process video to see how it was done.

I know Halloween is over, but this can be done anytime of the year if you need changes to something you bought that isn't just quite right.

A quick explanation of why they wanted to dress her as She Hulk...my granddaughter is the sweetest and mild mannered baby except when she wants something RIGHT now. She tenses up, turns bright red and just wails. It's almost comical and definitely changes her from Jhene to She Hulk!

My First Boo; Printable Cuttable Creatable

It’s my granddaughter’s first Halloween so I had to create a cute ahem, I mean spooky Halloween onesie.  Luckily Printable Cuttable Creatables has many images to choose from.  I used the My First Boo T122 cut file since it really is her first Boo!

There are lots of layers with this one, but once everything is pressed, you get a super cute onesie for your loved one!

T-shirt Fun

I needed to make some shirts for our "13 going on 30" themed birthday party for DD and GD1 this weekend. We put on the invitation that you should dress as either your 13 year old or 30 year old self.

I chose my 13 year old self which meant 1977 and hubby decided to go with his 30 year old self which was 1990.  I ran out of black vinyl which actually worked out since his shirt looked so good with the white vinyl. And thank goodness for scraps, because I had enough of a scrap to make the letters for my shirt.

And after placing an order on Wednesday for vinyl (since they were 50% off), I received it Saturday morning - pretty impressive Cricut!

Here are our shirts and a photo of us together. I couldn't take a good picture to save my life, but it's all good.

Fun! I just love the tube socks and we realized that Converse was a staple in every decade!

If you decide to make yourself a shirt, be sure to mirror your mats before cutting!

Retro Wear - 70's Style; Printable Cuttable Creatables

Hi there, I’m sharing a retro themed project with you that I created for the Printable Cuttable Creatables blog. When I saw all the retro image SVGs, I was so excited since who doesn’t love a fun 70’s project?!

I am attending a 13 going on 30 party next weekend and we are to dress as our 13 year old selves. I was not a fashion queen back in the 70’s but I remember wearing cut off jean shorts, T-shirts, long tube socks and Converse High Tops.  I thought it would be fun to add some Hand Peace Sign E728 SVG images to my jean shorts.

When you add the image to Cricut Design Space, you get two sets of hands.  I love that you get two different styles in one SVG file.  This gives us more options in one file!

I chose to use the hand with the outline for my project so I ungrouped the entire set and then hid the hand set I didn’t use.

After that, I adjusted the height of the remaining image to 3”. As long as the image is locked (you can see the padlock above the dimensions), you can change the width or height and the image will adjust accordingly.

From there, I duplicated the image six times to get the number I needed. I knew I was creating this image in multiple colors, so I changed the colors of each of them individually - lots of earthy tones for this project!

I placed the solid pieces all over the jeans and ironed them on using my Cricut Mini Press. Since these are a warm peel, I let them cool down a little and then peeled the backing.  Next comes the lined images which I placed on top of each solid hand.  (There is usually a little bit of shrinkage so it may not fit exactly.)

So cute!  What do you think?  I can’t wait to show these off and I know my 13 year old self would have loved these!

There are so many cool retro SVGs to check out on the Printable Cuttable Creatables website, I know you’ll find something you’ll love and be sure to check out the blog for inspiration!

Hello Summer Tote Bag; Printable Cuttable Creatables

Hi there, I’m super excited to share my first Design Team project with you!  Summer is here and I wanted to give a plain black nylon mesh bag an updo.  I used the Hello Summer T075 SVG and a variety of bright fun HTV colors I had in my stash.

After uploading the image into Cricut Design Space, I noticed that there’s an offset to the image.

I didn’t need the white offset since I wanted the bright colors to pop against the black tote bag. Therefore, in order to hide the offset while cutting the HTV, I clicked on the eye next to the portion that I didn’t want to cut. See how the offset does not show on the canvas now?  This is exactly what I need for my project.

After you click Make It but before you hit the Continue button, be sure to mirror each mat since this is an Iron On project.  This is very important!  So important that Cricut will also remind you to do it when your setting dial is on Iron On (aka HTV)!

After all the vinyl pieces were cut, I brought back the offset image to the canvas and hid the rest.  The reason why I did this is that I needed Parchment Paper or something similar to place inside the bag because of the mesh surface.  I didn’t want the HTV to stick to the back of the bag.  Instead of using a square piece of Parchment Paper, I decided to cut the offset with it.  This will help with placement of the different color HTV AND gives the extra protection.

I tucked the Parchment Paper offset inside the bag

And placed the HTV pieces on the front of the bag using the Parchment Paper offset as a guide.  This was a little tricky to keep in place so I used some heat resistant tape to help hold down some areas.

I hope you can see the Parchment Paper offset in this photo, it was really hard to photograph.

Here’s the final result.  I absolutely love how this bright image pops on the black bag and really gave this plain tote a big makeover!

I hope you decide to try something like this on your own.  One of my favorite things to do is to make something plain, beautiful!  Be sure to click over to Printable Cuttable Creatables site to see all the fun images and their blog for project ideas!

Faux Leather Earrings

I messed around with some inexpensive faux leather earrings to create these customized gifts.

I definitely learned a few things and am looking forward to creating some more soon.

Check out the YouTube process video:

I searched for earring holders in Design Space and found these cards. I did adjust the size to make it work for these earrings.
Of course I made a pair for myself. I can’t wait to wear them for the next game!

Hmmm…what else can I put on these?
