Fragments in my journal

My habit tracker from April uses the fragment "J6".

And the beginnings of my May calendar focuses on "E4".  Am I a few days late starting my calendar? Or just showing you how it's structured? Maybe a little of both.

Thanks for stopping by!

New BuJo pages and the "Bluebird of Happiness"

I'm starting a new bullet journal.  I thought I'd share my calendar pages. I use my BuJo as an art journal, writing journal, to do lists, and just about anything else that I used to write on scraps of paper including trying out new tangles.  As with everything else in my life, Zentangle® has permeated here.  :-)
Ciceron creates my calendar

For more information on bullet journaling, check out this link.  There are tons of examples out there, but my advice is to just start one....you will adjust it to meet your needs, no matter how much you plan.  Their beauty is that you make them into what you like and need, not someone else's version (tho inspiration is always good).

Here I've used MoFins as a divider.

I've noted all the tangle names under each border.

Check out the lower left.  I had intended to draw Coil but I got the curve "wrong". In true Zentangle fashion, I let it have its own life.  I tried Coil again lower right. :-)

And, check out this blue bird of happiness.  Yes, I know, not a blue bird...Art Impressions has some of the best stamps.  Anyway, I wanted to point out just how much Zentangle has inspired this card.  Absolutely no Zentangle patterns, but.... I have learned so much about shading, contrast and making something appear 3D from my Zentangle practice.  Pretty awesome right?  I stamped onto white cardstock with rich cocoa Momento ink, masked the image and then worked on the background using a combination of Distress and Distress Oxide inks.  Then I colored in Mr. Bluebird a/k/a buzzard with Polychromos colored pencils.

An inclusive heart

When drawing lines, it's possible to follow your heart and include others.

Wishing you a loving Valentine's Day.  For more Valentangle inspiration, check out the Diva Challenge.

My string was created by making a stencil from a die, and tracing it onto my paper.  I used Strathmore multi media 140 lb cut to postcard size.  The die (shown) is from Impression Obsession.  I had intended to send the original art as a thank you to one of my awesome Senators.  It turned out so well that my husband talked me into making prints from the original so I can include many more recipients.  I loosely had Oblique and Isochor in mind as I drew and Static showed up on his own!

My art, both Zentangle® and crafts such as card making, helps me to keep moving forward, eventually.

Here are some additional "therapy" examples:

An inlay technique made lovely cards using that same die.

A card made using a gorgeous stamp from Penny Black.

Valentines made using Lawn Fawn dies and stamps.

Another die set from Impression Obsession.  I also used a dotted rectangle die from Lawn Fawn.

And my February calendar in my bullet journal.  Turns out, Oof filled in looks like Bales!

ZI(P)A or PIZA?

ZIA, stands for Zentangle® Inspired Art.  I'm thinking this might be a new category, Zentangle Inspired Practical Art.  But then after rearranging the letters, I'm thinking Practical Idea Zentangle Art or PIZA has a tastier ring to it!  What do you think?

My calendar was inspired by a pin using W2.  (I believe you need to have Pinterest to see the link). My calendar is in my bullet journal.  I use it as a journal, calendar, notebook and also practice new tangles or sketch out card ideas. The great thing about a bullet journal is that you use it how it best suits your needs and you can continually change it to do so.  If you're interested in bullet journaling, check this out.  I used Cadent for my calendar, but you could give a try to any grid based tangle.  For more Cadent inspiration, check out Margaret Bremner's Cadent, and then some post which inspired my previous post.
I hope you have a Happy New Year!
