HOT in February...?

HOT for you
Hey!

Happy sunny (well, it's sunny here today anyways), Sunday!

I'm popping in today super quick, with a card that was super quick to make, that you can find in the super Jan/Feb issue of Papercrafts.

This card was originally intended for my guy for Valentine's day (if you're interested, he got this card instead). I'm telling, ya, this card was so easy, it's almost criminal! The longest/toughest part was waiting for the ink to dry on those sparkly Thickers :)
tips and tricks
  • Customise your own chipboard letters (Thickers) with an alcohol marker. They do take a while to dry depending on the finish so be prepared to do some waiting!
  • Card size. This design looked lost on your average 4.25 x 5.5 card so I simply trimmed my card to a smaller size. Experiment with different sizes to compliment your design.
Right, I've got a lot of boring stuff to do today. When that's done though, I have the rest of the week to ink it up! Hooray for half-term! :D

Thanks so much for popping by today!

Not freshly stamped but freshly published...

Hey!

Really? The weekend has flown by already? It's true what they say: time flies when you're having fun! Although my fun didn't consist of much inky therapy this weekend, I do have some projects to share still from the February 2012 issue of CARDS magazine.

I was fortunate enough to get three projects picked up so without further ado let's kick it off with a lot of Hero Arts goodness:

Let's Talk

Next pairing a sentiment from PTI with a cute felt embellishment from Maya Road:

All Things Grow With Love

And finally, my attempt at a shabby-chic/vintagey love card:

I Love You So Much

I guess it doesn't hurt to ink up outside of your comfort zone after all! A huge thanks, CARDS for featuring my work, and as always, thank you for stopping by today! I'll be back later this week to lift the trap on some exciting news I've been sitting on for what seems like ages - can't wait! *grin*

Catch ya later!

A rainbow of buttons...

Hey!

I hope you've had a fabby weekend. It's been a soggy one here and normally that would be my perfect excuse to stay indoors and ink up, but by the time I've done those things that 'need' to be done it's late on Sunday and I've run out of time!

So here's a little card to finish off the weekend in some kinda crafty style:

You Color My World
Picture courtesy of Paper Crafts Magazine

Granted, this card wasn't rustled up this weekend but is one you can find in the Jan/Feb 2012 issue of Paper Crafts. I have to 'fess up that this interactive Valentine's card is one that made my own heart skip a beat; simply spin the disc around to view a rainbow of buttons to colour your world with :)

I was lucky enough to have two cards featured in the interactive Valentine's section but this one is by far my favourite (don't tell the other card that though!)

Huge thanks Paper Crafts for the publication and as always thank you for stopping by today!

Leafy Gratitude

Hey!

Hope you've all had a super weekend! Mine is nearing the end, but it's been a super crafty one - what else can one do when the weather is dull and foggy?! *wink*

I'm just popping by to share a card with you that you can find in the special issue of Paper Crafts, 365 Cards:

So Grateful

I love that in the magazine, this card is known as 'Leafy Gratitude'. Those leaves sparkle so much IRL as they've been dusted with shimmer chalks after stamping my leaves in Versamark.

The sweetest thing about getting my inky mitts on this issue is not only the amazing inspiration I've got from just flickin' through it, but that this particular card is sat right next to my bloggin' buddy, Lynn's card! How fun! Her card also features a good dose of leafy gratitude - it's fabby!

Well if you haven't got this issue already, you *need* it! It comes jam-packed with 366 cards; one for every day of next year so you'll never find your mojo stuck for inspiration!

Right, that's enough from me - I must go pack my school bag..It's like I've never grown up really! Ha!

Missing: Party Invite!

Hey!

Happy Tuesday! (It's pretty late over here but it's still Tuesday!) hope you all had a super duper weekend! Ours was pretty fabulous filled with some fun memories to treasure from a fantastic wedding we attended down in Devon (yup - that's one fun road-trip to endure from Sheffield! Good job I can read whilst travelling and can even read a map when needed after taking the wrong turn on the motorway *wink*)

After such fun, I'm now playing catch-up on all the things I normally do at the weekend including catching up in Blogland and also finding time for an inky session. But seeing as we're already on Tuesday (nearly Wednesday!) I figured I could cheat a li'l and share a project with you that you'll find in the August 2011 issue of CARDS:

***Click picture for a larger version where you can read the text***

This project was yet another naughty li'l one that decided to dictate its own destination once it was in the post - I wonder if some random, confused stranger ended up with the original party invite - ha!

The actual project photographed is another one I had to create during the chaos of moving house. I actually started to debate whether it was worth the effort of rooting through all those boxes again trying to find my supplies and working on the world's smallest workspace to create it again followed by sitting with everything crossed that it would not only reach it's correct destination, but would reach it on an extremely tight deadline when posting from the other side of the pond...

....but, now I see it in print it was definitely worth the effort :) Thanks so much to CARDS magazine for not only publishing my work but for being super understanding when yet another one of my projects was naughty in the post!

That's all from me for now - this gal's got a lot of catching up to do and not only on Google Reader but in her crafting corner studio too :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

If at first it doesn't get picked up...

Hey!

I'm B.A.C.K! Did you miss me?! I missed you! Sad to think how much influence modern technology has on my daily life; gimme a week in Wales without a phone signal and I break out in a cold sweat! LOL! Our time by the sea-side was fun - albeit a bit soggy *wink*

My fingers have been itching to get inky since setting foot through our front door. As you can imagine, I have a mountain of unpacking and washing to get through first so I figured I could cheat and share a card with you that you can find in the July/Aug 2011 Issue of Paper Crafts Mag. (Photo courtesy of Paper Crafts btw!)

Love You

Now I only wished the skies were like this in Wales last week LOL!

Li'l story about this card: I was smitten with it once I'd made it (I hope I'm allowed to say that!) and was secretly happy not to part with it when it faced rejection for the first call I submitted it for. But it was so sweet that I dared to submit it again about a month or so later for a different call (creative use of die-cuts) and BINGO! The start of my card's adventrue beings....and ends up with someone who wins it from the Paper Crafts Connection blog. Hope they love it just as much as I loved it :)

Moral of the story: sometimes a card may not be destined for one call but is worth submitting again if it suits a future call even more than the original call (FYI: I wouldn't submit a card more than twice - I'd have definitely got the message then that it's just not what they're looking for! )

Before I dash to tackle the mountain of upacking to do, I've also drawn a winner from our CASE Study Blog Hop Party. What a party it was - thank you for joining in with us! Here's who random.org picked

which means that Indy is the winner of a $20 Gift Certificate for Snapily and secondly a $15 Gift Certificate for the stamping company of her choice (provided the company offer GCs!) Congrats! Send me an email (click on the Contact me tab) with your deets and who you'd like your Gift Certificate from and I'll organise it for ya!

Hopefully I'll be back soon with something new to share with ya!

A misbehaving card...

Hey!

Happy Monday! Ooh and Happy 4th of July to my American buddies - hope you're having a fab day celebrating!

I've been a bit MIA in Blogland recently. My main excuses have been celebrating my birthday way beyond its day; the chaos leading up to the end of the school year and squeezing in as much Wimbledon viewing as possible (shame Murray couldn't make it to the final but boy oh boy what final it was yesterday!)

So needless to say, I haven't really had any inky time in my inky corner. So I'm gonna cheat instead and share some recent publications of my cards you can find in CARDS magazine:

Do you recognise it? This was the card I made from ribbon scraps ages ago and it got picked up by CARDS for their May 2011 issue.

I was relieved to finally see this card in print, as at one point it looked like I wouldn't: y'see this card went on a postal diversion didn't reach its destination. Eeek! Cue a mad dash to make another identical card (hard to do when under pressure!) and send it off again. End of the story? Well in a word, nope! What returns to me with some goodies and two copies of this issue? Yup, you guessed it, the original card I'd sent! So out there, somewhere version two of this card is on an adventure...hope it's a goodie :D

And before I leave ya, here's a card you can find in the June 2011 issue of CARDS that I haven't shared with you here:

I found it hard to part with this mini-card; I think those jewelled brads were calling me to keep it *wink* No drama or shenanigans with this well-behaved card though. It's typical that the easiest of cards to make are the ones I never need make another exact replica of in a hurry, eh?!

Super big thanks to CARDS for publishing my work and for being super understanding when my cards misbehave in the post :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy, Happy, Happy

Hey!

Happy, happy weekend! It's a soggy one here today, but the optimist in me is thinking it's the perfect excuse to stay in and get inky *grin*

I'm sharing a card today that you can find a much better picture of in Card Creations 9! If you haven't got a copy of this issue it's a must have - so much inspiration on every page!

Happy Birthday

I was so happy when this special issue arrived on my doorstep to find that I'm sharing a page with Carly Robertson! I love her style and she's a super sweet person too. It's such an honour to see my card next to hers and on the pages of an issue that's oozes fabulous cards by some of my favourite designers!

Before I go, it's my final day as a featured artist over on Inspired by... Thanks so much to Jill for inviting me over! I've had so much fun! Be sure to check it out if you can: Jill's cards are fabulous!

Right, I've gotta grab some dinner - I'm starving!

Boxes, Boxes, Boxes.....

Hey!

So I've totally remembered why I don't move so much - I hate it! LOL!

I'm itching to be settled and unpacked, but with being back at work it looks like we've got a few fun weekends planned ahead emptying boxes and finding places for things to go. Mind you, I'm taking a trip to the Hobbycrafts event at Birmingham NEC on Saturday, and we're off to pick up our shiny new car on Sunday so I guess that really is a fun weekend ahead for me! I suppose I've no idea when I'll get around to unpacking boxes then; but don't worry though - I've got my eye on my inky supplies box to be unpacked first *wink*

So what can I share with ya if my supplies are still imprisoned in boxes?! How about a card that I was fortunate enough to have published in the February issue of CARDS magazine (Thanks, CARDS!)

This is a super mini-card and probably uses the most buttons I've ever used on such a small card!

I hope this card will suffice for now! Here's hoping that I can get those inky supplies freed sooner rather than later!

Apologies for being slightly MIA in Blogland, I'll be back as soon as I can! Thank you so much for still stopping by here :)

Stamp It!

Hey!

So it's the first day of half term - a whole week off and what do I wake up to? Yup, SNOW! Man, I thought we'd had enough of this white stuff for one winter...guess I'll just have to stay indoors and ink up some new stamps then *grin*

Speaking of stamping (see what I did there?! Smoooooooth transition of subject lol!) have you checked out the special Paper Crafts Stamp It! Techniques issue? Whether you're an expert stamper or just starting out, it has something for everyone! It certainly reunited me with a few techniques that I hadn't tried out for a while.

I was very excited when this issue landed on my doorstep (thanks, Lynn!), not only for all the inspiration I was gonna get from it, but because I had a couple of cards in it myself! Thanks so much for the opportunity, Paper Crafts!

Here's one of 'em you can find on page 41

Enjoy the Journey

This was to demonstrate paper piecing. Used all my DP scraps on this baby and yes, it was kinda fiddly to cut out but totally worth it :)

My other card demonstrates heat embossing and features lots of.....green! Be sure to check it out on page 12 along with all the other amazing creations!

Right I'm off to pretend to do some chores but really get off to get acquainted with some new Hero Art goodies that landed on my doorstep this morning! I wonder how they got there? Tee hee!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Party Time!

Hey!

Hoooooooray for the weekend! :)

I'm in a party mood not only because it's the weekend, but if you didn't know already - and I think you must have been hiding under a rock if you don't know! - but it's party time for one of my favourite stamping companies. One of the factors that had me hook, line and sinker for my downward spiral into my inky addiction: Papertrey Ink!

I urge you to join in the celebrations too! Today, Nichole Heady (one of my stamping idols!) is asking us to share our very favourite project featuring PTI goodies from the last year and I fancied joining in the fun.

Can you guess which project I picked? Well I'm impressed that I kinda narrowed it down to one: I love different projects for different reasons but this one really made me squeal with joy:

chairish cards

And of course - I couldn't resist making a green version *grin*

Chair-ish trio close up

....and I was even lucky enough to have one of these picked up by CARDS magazine for the Jan 2011 issue - thanks CARDS Magzine!

Why on earth did they not pick the green one?! *wink*

Right, I'm still catching up on my Google Reader after a crazy, super busy week so I'm hoping to get a good mojo boost from y'all for my inky time that I've scheduled in for tomorrow. Yup - so busy now that I actually have to pencil inky time in my organiser *sigh* Here's to counting down to half-term in a couple of weeks time :D

Nov 2010 CARDS Publication

Hey!

It's still snowy here and I'm stuck inside, but I'm not complaining. I've never had so much inky therapy time during what should be a working week!

Today I'm not sharing a card I made during my bonus inky sessions, but a card that has become very dear to me (even though it's not with me now). My first published card - ever! Yup, that's right, I can now share my very first publication from the Nov 2010 issue of CARDS (check it out on page 49!) Thanks CARDS Magazine!

And because my photography is pretty pants in comparison to the magazine's, just check out how sweet the set up was for it:

Could you find a more perfect home for this card?! :)

And by total, freaky, pure, coincidence - do you know what came through the post today? A copy of the magazine itself! Thanks so much to my super sweet Canadian buddy, Maureen (or Diva as I like to call her after her Verve Guest Diva fame!) - you're a star (and a Diva!)!!! It was a total surprise and I still can't stop stroking the glossy pages :D

Thanks so much for stopping by! Now I've got to figure how I'm going to get to the post office to post some cards in time for Christmas....wish me luck!
