What's up, witches?

It wasn't the best lighting situation when I snapped these photos on a rainy day recently, but I had to share my latest witchy creations, Agatha and Kitty! These poor dollies had to wait a long time before they got their hair and hats. I tried something new for Agatha (the witch with the orange hat), creating her hair by sewing a knitted rectangle of purple yarn to her head. I like the way she turned out! Both dolls stand around 16 inches tall from hat to toes.

Well, I was going to link to the posts of my other witch dolls creations from over the years, but it seems I've never posted any of the other witch dolls that I've made besides Winnie! I will just just go ahead and upload past Halloween dolls I've made here, too.

I hope you find these dolls as BOO-tiful as I do! Happy Craftoween!

Caidence the Doll

Meet Caidence!

She is the latest of my handmade dolls, and a custom order for a special little girl on her birthday. I was really excited about using this hot air balloon fabric for her outfit. I had been saving it for a Kentucky Derby Festival craft for next year in honor of the balloon race, but I am glad that I had a chance to use it sooner.

I also used some adorable polka dots fabrics in yellow and pink for her sleeves and leggings! Who doesn't like polka dotted leggings, right?!! Caidence the doll has hair made from a fun wool yarn that has a neat twisted texture to it. I also had to add a homemade bow to her hair, and add some lace fringe to her sleeves and skirt.

She already went home to her new owner, and the family shared some sweet photos with me of the birthday girl kissing her new doll! It made me so happy to see. Sharing my crafty talents is the best part about this hobby. It makes me feel all fuzzy inside, which must be what it feels like to be a stuffed dolly! :)

I really enjoy making handmade dolls, although I have less time for it these days. Dolls were once the major focus of this blog, but I am glad that I have branched out into other craft projects and tutorials. It is nice to be able to share a new doll face every now and then, so I hope that you enjoyed meeting her.

Custom Doll: Albie the Alpaca

Shortly after giving this custom doll to its new owners, I learned that they had named him Albie. How sweet! I like the alliteration of his name (as in Albie the Alpaca)!

Alpaca 1

When they first approached me about making this custom doll, I didn't even really know what an Alpaca looked like. I learned that they are similar, but not the same as their cousins, the Llamas, and are much smaller.

I used a very soft, rosette style faux fur fabric for this toy, and I love the way it turned out! From his big eyes to his sweet face, and the little heart on his chest, I hope that he makes his new family very happy.

Alpaca

What sort of fuzzy friends make you smile? I've always been partial to kittens and elephants myself. Is there a certain animal you would like to see as a doll? Let me know by leaving a comment or sending me a message on facebook

Ellie Doll

Meet Ellie! She is the newest Craft E Magee doll to hit the scene. She was a special request for a new baby! I hope they are fast friends.

Ellie 2

Ellie has the sweetest blonde pigtails, and a cute pink outfit, complete with pockets!

Ellie

One of her pockets even includes a special surprise, a froggy inside! I love custom dolls because there is so much opportunity for me to personalize the doll and make them even more meaningful. There is something so special about a handmade gift, and I just love being able to create that joy for others!

Cloud Plush

Cloudy by E. Magee
Cloudy, a photo by E. Magee on Flickr.
Meet Cloudy! He's a little plush I made for J based on a sketch he did when we first started dating.
See, little Cloudy is hungover, and he's throwing up rainbows! The sketch made me laugh, so I tucked it away. It has since inspired me to make this plush!
It is really capturing my mood lately. To me, bright colors are happy, and I am pretty excited for the Buy Local First Fair this Sunday.
But Cloudy is also a little sad and feeling sick, which is sort of how I feel today because I lost a special former co-worker this week. She was only 31. I am feeling more than a little blue. She was so spirited and enthusiastic, and brought lots of Sunshine into my life. I know that she supported my crafty endeavors, and probably would have come out to the show Sunday! I will definitely miss her.
I hope little Cloudy makes you laugh. Even though he's a sad little cloud, he makes me smile, and that is so important right now.

Hannah doll

Meet Hannah! She is the little doll I posted a teaser photo of, but couldn't share fully at the time because she was a birthday present, and hadn't been delivered yet.
Hannah has beautiful auburn hair, blue eyes, freckles, and porcelain skin, just like her owner!

She is dressed for Spring, perfect for a March baby! I love the dress colors and the crossed lace in the back.

Hope this counts as my craft of the day, because I wasn't able to really do much today. Hope you enjoy the newest doll!

The Walking Dead

Being that Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore both have connections to Kentucky, my boyfriend got hooked on "The Walking Dead" comics early on. Now that the series has become a hit show on AMC, he has me hooked as well! We are both excited for the return of season 2 tonight at 9:00PM EST! So, I thought tonight would be the perfect time to surprise J with a present, both for Valentine's Day and in celebration of tonight's episode of "The Walking Dead."

Meet Mr. Walker. He has been a member of the undead for 2 days now.

He enjoys long walks in the park and eating organs, especially hearts.

Don't let his little smile and calm expression fool you. Like most of his kind, he is ferocious!

If you are a fan of the show, enjoy tonight's episode! And if not, maybe it's time for you to check it out!

Harper & Iris

I had the pleasure of making some custom sibling dolls for one of the Creators of D.I.Y. Louisville. She wanted to give her children some cute little mini-me plush for Valentine's Day! They're names are Harper and Iris, and I hope that the owners will love them!

Harper is the first boy doll that I have made with yarn hair! I'm thrilled with the way that he turned out!

Hear her roar!

I don't believe that I have blogged about one of the most fun dolls that I have made so far! Last year, one of my very good pals from my day job got a new position with a new company. I created a mini doll of her as a going away present! I was so sad to see her go, but very happy for her new opportunities!

Lady Viking

My friend is a true warrior woman, so the viking hat and sword were fitting. She also is my number one source for book recommendations, so I had to include a little book! Giving her an "action figure" was awesome, and she was touched by the gift.

This weekend, I have a pair of custom sibling dolls to create. Their Momma is giving the dolls for Valentine's Day! How sweet!

Erin

Here is the second of the four custom dolls that I have created lately. This is Erin!
Erin3

Erin loves animals so much, hence the dogs and cats on her jumper. Because of this, I had to be sure to make her a special friend- a little kitten named Caramel.
Erin

I hope Erin and Caramel will make a little girl very happy on Christmas morning!

Olivia

I have had 4 orders for custom dolls for Christmas. Today I wanted to share one of them.

This little doll is named Olivia. She is the sweetest little ballerina, dressed in pastel colors. I just love her facial expression!

I hope the little lady receiving her thinks she's special!

Today I put the finishing touches on a ballerina doll! Her name is Amelie, and she will soon have more little ballerina friends. The dancer dolls will be headed to the Fall Registration at The Vision Dance Center on Sunday, August 28th, where I hope to sell them to a few good homes!

I have to say that I think that Amelie is my best work yet! Plus, her little ballet slippers crack me up!
