Georgia Mountain Fair

These area few pictures I took as we were traveling
back from our week in the Mtns , --THese are scarecrows in
Hoschton GA -- They are trying to break the Guiness
Book of worl records -- in town it says they have over
5,000 - they were everywhere , even some dressed as a
football team and cheerleaders -- I took these as we were driving lol
If you live near it is fun to see them .


This was a beautiful mtn stream near Helen
Ga -- It has become so commercial . while many go
there for Ocktoberfest -it is so crowded and lots of gimmicky
tourusty stuff -but this was so lovely . I love the mtn streams
that follow along the roadways


This cute little place -had darling things -have not uploaded
those pictures yet-Bought several small things .



THis was a fabulous display of quilts at the
N GA fair - love these fall colors -so much work
and love put into every quilt

THE STORY BEGINS -PART 1 - Faerie Houses

As we travel we are -always looking for an adventure .
My hub always wants to take the "road less traveled "
a sign or historical marker can send us off into the wild blue yonder
, on a country road with hairpin turns to nothing but laughter , a few
have brought us to amazing places -- If you do not know where fairies reside ,
I can tell you they live in the N GA mountains -- in Blairsville , outside Of Hiawassee -
WE saw a sign that said art items and fairie houses of "Sleepy Hollow"
and then the adventure began , -( click and the pics will enlarge )
Sleepy Hollow is the art studio of- ART MILLICAN- who worked for Disney for
15 years ,- He is featured in the magazine -FAERIE MAGAZINE -winter 2007-
He says-- " AS the story is told --that when the first baby laughed for the first time ,
it's laugh shattered into a thousand pieces ,and these pieces went skipping about
and that was the start of fairies " - His creations were a delight and we saw him working on a new creation in his studio -- Here are a few of his creations - will try to scan the mag tomorrow for Part #2 of the Fairy houses , Some a small and they also are some big enough for a child's playhouse . They are so amazing and quaint - Hope you enjoy

These were our daily visitors - they were so cute as they bobbed
down into the water with their back tail feathers
sticking straight up in the air .




WE were so blessed to have this campsite on our trip .


Our traveltrailer has a large picture window on the


back ,and this is the site that greeted us each morning .


A beautiful lake and the North Georgia Mtns behind it .


It was a fun trip to Hiawassee - to the Ga MTN Fair .


The leaves were not turning very much there , but it was still a beautiful
sight -- I have more pics - can't wait to share about the Fairies __ gotta run
to do some errands
who knew as I was having conversations about them last week ,I would end up finding their
homes - nestled in the woods ----

FAiries

Today i was visiting a blog reflectionsfromthestonenest.blogspot.com
and she had posted the sweetest poem and thoughts
about fairies -and it reminded me of the little ART fairy , I created .
It makes me smile everytime I see him . I don't know what it is about these sweet vintage pictures and wings that capture my heart . But i do love putting wings on things
-yikes , that is rhyming lol -- hmmm another accomplishment -
well I will add that to my list - Ya know at 61 ! yike -I have to
take any accolades and pats on my own back -especially if it has to do
with writing or rhyming ,. I am still working on my picture taking skills -
seems that one added to the list will have to wait . lol
Been working on a few Christmas things --but as we are leaving on a little
trip for a few days - guess that will have to wait . We are taking our -30 ft travel trailer
to North GA , to the MTN Fair - We meet my Hubs , Sis&Hub several times a year for fun .
We have never wound through mtns with the 30 ft trailer -so -i need to
get my nerves in order lol . Get to go through some areas I love to
shop in but parking this thing may be a trick lol and besides while hub backs up I am
outside co-pilot - scary huh !! We have been married 43 yrs -- HS sweethearts
married the Sept . after we graduated -but this can make for some shall we say tense moments lol -- AS for the gas -- it is abundant and cheaper that in months -- so crazy -- I think
some things are media generated -- but we are blessed with that or the trip
long ago planned and arranged would have to be cancelled .

Lavender and lace -oops !!-- SEE pics below !!

Well , very interesting , guess uploading pics from flickr
will not be my first choice from now on . Of course if I had understood
it, that might have helped LOL . These are a few piecesof my transfer ware
& a tole tray , along with a few teacups -- and while I got the lesson from
"NESTER " lol about fake flowers - I do love the violas in this rustic
silver vase tho . I love small vases scattered around the house . I do try to buy fresh
and can split it to have touches throughout the house , The last surviving bud
vase goes in a single bud vase -- I have collected several cut crystal ones from
yardsales and shops, but have a real weakness for the small silver ones .
Of course dried roses are a favorite of mione as well as the geraniums that are dried in this pic
They grow by my back steps and are blue and in the fall thay start looking green and
burgundy ,I pick them , put them in a small amount of water -and as it evaporates they dry like this . I don't think that is the conventional way -but it works for me -and the
green and deep red are a great compliment to my colors .
OK need to take flickr lessons again lol - as I hardly ever post there

It seems that I have a hard time with limiting my color choices .
I do not collect many types of lavender colored things -- Ole tole trays are one of my favs I don't think I have posted this before -- maybe just on the site when we were doing casabella with Ms Teresa . Need to snap a few more pics of my small collection of things in the wonderful soft violet color -- I have it all on one shelf and table -- Everything is going through a transition here -- cleaning out and clearing up . Of course , a cleared space ,means room for more
tchotkes -right !!

Hanging out with - Southern -"WiLD WIMMEN "

Well this is about as wild as it gets for me !!! lol

Last year we had a 24 hr - no sleeping -just creatin -

snacking- laughing- sharing - shopping -swappin '-

Scrapbooking Benefit at one of our local churches for

one of our families that had been tragically injured

in a horrible accident - I had this picture of these

wild women of the west that I brought with me .

among enough "stuff " to load up my suv - too

crazy lol - This cheap metal tin box was something

I brought some clear stamps and blocks in ,

So since I am not a scrapper --I thought I would

use this and the idea for these crazy wild women -to

decorate it , ( it was not just another day - and we were feeling pretty frisky lol -

I am still trying to figure out if these guns and fishing

pole were ever used by these ladies ??? Pretty funny -

' thereby everyone had to come and see what I had made Also ya gotta read this-

sayin -- gals ,with your mouth held just right and with a slurred and drawled

southern or western twang - rofl .

A few ladies comments had us rolling , when they didn't get the idea behind the

saying and the ladies with guns and scrappin (fighting or cutting up paper )-- Their

faces after an explanation made me laugh all the harder .

You must remember we had been up for 24 hrs straight

and the silly quotient by then was over the top .

Guess the world of scrapbooking and multi media -does not

always meet . Well hope this gave you a laugh -as it did us

then, and has me again today when I found it in my 'Stuff '

OOPS _ SEE PART 1 and 2 Below - not quite up to speed Today

She has been shopping as you can see , but is missing a
crow for her shoulder and bats on curly wire flying above her head
and a sparkly hat with a headband ,


But after all , as my daughter says - It is "ALL " about the shoes .
do we say shoe fetish here -- she loves all kinds and has MAny -uh too many
lol - She has little blingy brads and jute bows .
and of course her little gathered ruffle , suited her just right !
She started out small , and I had to enlarge then layered and elongated her
on cardstock - I love to cut things apart and layer
and of course all my girls gotta ' have buttons !-- Kathy - GA

Life Happens along the way -

I had so many good intentions to get all my Halloween things finished -because as much as I like them -- Christmas is my favorite time to create . So here I am , when I was ahead - now I am behind lol . SO , I am going to post my little halloween girl , even though her special stage etc never got finished -- and It was gonna be so cute too !! If that gets done , eventually I will post it . MY brother had a mild heart attack last week ( no real damage the dr says - thank Heaven )and had a stint put in . He is home and doing great -- it truly is amazing -- but of course God has blessed him so much - he is a wonderful man .


So my plans have changed -- other things have been priorities -- and next week we are


supposed to go to the Mtn FAir -- for several days -- So my blogging will be sparse - I wish I could make myself post daily - but don't want to just blab -always want to have pics etc --


Ok enough whining . Here are a few pics of my finished -( Gracie -Lou -) after all she is a southerner-lol -

Halloweenmania- we are a little out of focus Houston !

It seems like I am gripped by Halloween -

mania -- the only thing that will help - is realizing

that Christmas -gasp - is just around the corner .

It seems like ever since I started the Bella-zine

I am loving creating halloween goodies -for moi-

as never before -- This (sorry about the blur )

is a sneak peek at what I have been working on

for a couple of days -- she really is a cutie --

and dressed in all her finery -- Then last night as I

finished her up around 2p.m.- I realized she needed a backdrop

and props and of course a cat and bat or two - So after all ,

she is not ready for prime time . Then Istarted thinking

about signage -etc and was so tired -So she is still at this hour

languishing in L A-LA -land with no place to call her own -

lol -- Working the details out in my head -been running all day

- and now Survivor and the "Debate ' so she -MY Pretty -

will have to wait til tomorrow - Of course my other Project

-ya know the great organizing of my craft room -is on hold

I keep saying like the little engine that could -I THINK I CAN -I THINK I CAN !!

rofl -- well they all will have to wait for another day -

Happy Fall Wishes !!!

Well it is feeling a little like fall her in the south in the early mornings .
By noon it is in the 80's usually .. So the days are beautiful, Wanted to do a quick post and put up my new banner
. .. I am
asking for prayers her e--and for much of the south -- We are in a serious gas shortage
here -- We are all pooling our driving as much as possible --But yesterday most service stations here are out of gasoline -- My family works in Atlanta- 40 miles away -- some stations that had gas yesterday had a $1o limit - that was a little over 2 gallons -- I am staying positive ,
and still think this is the greatest place to live in the world --. Sorry on my soapbox here !!-
not talking politics -just the common sense and right and wrong values "our MAMA's " taught us
and things we learned in kindergarten , and that the Bible teaches us . - tell the truth - be kind
be thankful - work and play well with others - work hard - Just basics and what I have always
valued -- "the good ole American way -- Thanks for letting me vent a little -
which is usually not my way -- You guys are the best !! _ BLessings -Kathy
