Random Things I Love This Summer

Things I love, like.....

The beautiful shapes and colors the sea deposits on the shore for me to find.  As far as the sharks teeth go, Neil seems to have the eagle eye for spotting them this summer.

The bright colors and shape of colors of new clothes before the sizing has been washed out.

Being the first person to flip through a brand new magazine with it's crisp pages.  *I'm the lucky recipient of bag fulls of magazines from my neighbor, and hers are almost like new, heck sometimes I think she never opened them.

Giving my feet a paraffin wax treatment.

Playing with all the fun, bold nail polishes available this summer.

Dipping my colorful toes in the sea and sand.

Having a basket full of swimsuits to choose from. *Secret...I still want more. shh - it's our secret.

Giving things away.
Speaking of which, my Hapari Swimsuit giveaway is coming to an end.  One lucky winner will receive a $100 Hapari gift code!  You can enter here, but hurry it ends July 20th at 11:59 pm EST.

Most of all I love knowing I can look for all the answers in the book next to my bed. Gods word is there for me in good times and in bad.  He will never forsake me or you.

Now I want to know what is something that you love.  Tell me what makes you smile.  Is it your kids, maybe your fur babies?  Is it your new flip-flops or an iced coffee?  Lets hear all about it, don't be shy...spill the beans!

Happy weekend y'all...

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Everyone want's to be fit.  It's the hot topic of this generation.  But sometimes it's a catch 22. Getting fit doesn't necessarily mean going on a diet or losing weight. It's all about feeling better.  When you feel better you look better. Even your skin looks better when you're fit - it's a overall noticeable difference.
Of course, I want to look toned and weigh my idea weight, but even more than that, I'm looking for a boost in my metabolism. That little spark of energy that's going to get me going.  With a tagline like "Give us a few weeks and we'll give you a new waistline" I think it's a product worth trying.  I mean swimsuit tryouts are nipping at my less than tight butt!
How many times have you said "if only I had the energy to do something about losing weight"?  Well here you go:

Tuesdays Style After 30 On Wednesday

Do you ever look at magazines and wonder how your favorite celebrities look seem to always look so put together, even when they're just out getting their latte fix and dragging their perfect children behind them?

Well it's not magic and they certainly weren't born perfect.  They have something we less famous women have.  They have access to stylists.  Yes someone gets paid to make people look totally in trend and beautiful.

Even though most of us can't afford our own stylist, I don't know anyone who can, we can still learn a few simple rules that will help us become our own stylist.

Shape:  Colors and the design of the fabric always catch our eye but shape is really should be your first focus when shopping.  You should spend time learning what your shape is.  Once you figure that out and yes come to terms with what it is, not what you wish it was, then you can learn how to enhance it.  Most women wear clothes that are sized too small hoping that this will make them appear smaller or too big hoping to hide something.  Neither is flattering.  You clothes shouldn't pull or cling to you, nor look like you borrowed them  from someone twice your size.  Take the dress above which has been drawn in at the waist making a nice waistline.  I normally don't like chevron patterns, I know I'm probably the only one who doesn't, but I love this dress!!  My first chevron like.

Shoes:  Wear a shoe with a heel - even if it's a small one.  The higher the heel, the slimmer (and taller-lol) you'll look.  A heel elongates your legs and forces you to wall with your shoulders back, which creates a much more pleasing posture as you walk.  If you don't feel comfortable in heels look for a platform style instead.  Even a loafer with a slight heel looks more polished than one without.

Of course you can't wear heels with everything.  I just think these tennis' are adorable.  Lovin' that color!

More Shape Tips: If you have wide shoulders look for a V-neck shirt.  The deeper, careful girls, the V the more narrow your shoulders will look.  It's a trick of the eye.  By exposing a bit of skin below your neck, it draws the eye downward giving the illusion of a more vertical silhouette, instead of focusing on the width of your shoulders.

For a petite person, remember shorter tops will give you a longer look over all.  The last thing a petite figure wants to wear is a mid-thigh lenght top.

Color:  When shopping try to get out of your comfort zone with color.  We all tend to get in a bit of a rut.  I bet if you look in your closet you'll find an overwhelming number of pieces in the same color family.  That doesn't mean you have to buy a color that just doesn't work with your skin tone, maybe you could add a pop of color in your shoes or hand bag.

Do try to look for brighter colors for your shirts and dresses that will brighten your face. You'll be surprized by the compliments and how much younger you'll appear.  Something that compliments your skin tone of course.  Sales people can be very helpful if you explain what that you're looking for something to compliment you skin.

Mix it up.  The old rules of your shoes and your handbag must match have been thrown out the window.  There are no steadfast rules anymore.  Pops of unexpected color, as in the orange loafers with the blue and white outfit above, are like a breath of fresh air.  It's says you're comfortable with change ( a youthful symbol).

As I said above there are no steadfast rules which means just because you have new options it doesn't mean that the old rules are passe'.  Classic never goes out of style. Pulling everything together with the same color family always gives provides a chic, elegant look like the one below.

I hope some of these tips help you next time you head out the door.  Spend a little time in your closet and see what you can switch around.  Mix and match and create new outfits with what you already have.

Do you have some tips you'd like to share?  I'd love to hear your idea's.

Tuesday's Style After 30 - Get Your Red, White and Blue On

I kid you not, the 4th of July is just over a week away! Do you plan what you're going to wear or are you just a fly by your seat kinda gal?

Well here's some Pinterest Red, White and Blue inspiration to get y'all started.  I adore this pretty patriotic frock!  I think there are so many different belt styles you could add to it.  Patent leather red or navy would be pretty.  Or what about a navy or natural rope belt with a nautical theme latch on the front.
Source: rstyle.me via Tracy on Pinterest

Here's another cute dress that looks so cool and summery.  Add a big blue beaded  necklace or earrings to set the 4th theme.  A belt would work with this one too.

I'm in love with this blue blouse.  The drape is so pretty and would enhance any ones figure.  It looks like it might be a crepe de chine fabric.  With the heat that we have during this time of year I would pair it with white shorts instead, take away the shoes and bangles, and add a red bag.  As far as jewelry, I'd again look for a red bauble necklace or something with stars to complete the holiday theme. Some pretty sandals with a metal starfish design would be the perfect footwear.

Another top that that accentuates your waist and bust line.  You may want to avoid the flare if hips are an issue for you.  It seems to be my problem as of late (well it may be more of a derrière thing).  I adore the simple all American red plaid design on the fabric but with a twist.  It also looks like it's crepe de chine to me. Again I would go with shorts or capris, or for a dressier affair a white pencil skirt would be impressive.  Of course you know what I'm going to say next... Be sure to add that touch of blue, it is all about the day! I'd go with a nature straw bag.  Change the shoes to sandals or a simple heel if your wearing a skirt.

Chambray is always in fashion and it's the official all American go to.  We American's love our denim. The bag is perfect but the shoes and earring have to go.  I'll let you have your way with those. My ideas would be seashells such as starfish again or possibly sand dollars or even a nautical look with an anchor or rope design.

I can't get away with the jacket here.  I mean when the fireworks are going off it's still in the 80's here.  But this would be great for any of you with cooler evenings. Love the snappy sandals.

Okay before you think I've lost my mind and decide to tell me about it, yes I know it's not Memorial Day.  Just go with me people - we're looking for a red, white and blue theme.  This blouse is more in keeping with my weather.  It looks like it's effortless and comfortable to wear.  The blouse is loose and the shorts aren't too short.  If I was going to carry a clutch bag I would chose a woven natural linen or straw. Add blue using different jewelry, sandals or even a tie in your hair.

I'm not sure about the belt with this top at least not in Patent leather.  Maybe it's because the belt looks hiked up so high too.  I'm petite at 5'3, so I'd have to hem this. But this top certainly has drape and a pleasing look.  I love this style on someone like my mom who was 5'9" tall.  (My son's 6'2" and yes I've got height envy). The earrings are a little too orange. Pair this with grasshoppers or deck shoes instead. Let's switch the pants to capris or shorts and call it done.

Chambray with red and white plus a nautical theme.  Need I say more?  Well we will have to find a longer pair of shorts.

This last outfit is all about the dress and belt.  Love them!!  The shoes are okay and I like the bag alot just not with this dress.  The bow and glasses must go unless you're dressing your 6 year old and then please don't give her these glasses.  Remember how I said a belt would go great with the first dress.  I didn't even realize it until now but this was totally the belt I was describing!  Serendipity!!

There you go with my picks for an All American Girl outfit.  If you put one together I'd love you to share so I can pin it.

By the way - Did you enter my Olay giveaway.  After all the sun you'll get on the 4th you'll be happy to win this!!  Just click HERE to enter or see the button on my sidebar.

I Use Pinterest More Than Google

Pinterest is really addictive. I pin way more than I ever get around to doing. Here's some of the ways I use it:
Isn't that the cutest faux snowcone garland!

  • Decorating Pin all those inspiring ideas you love.

I could live in this bathroom!
  • Holidays I have a board, i.e. folder for every holiday.  It contains crafts and decorating ideas for that specific holiday.  I even have separate Holiday Food boards, there's just so many creative foods to create for holidays.

Geraniums are one of my favorite summer plants. With a patriotic table setting like this you're bound to have a blast on the 4th
  • Recipes It's like having a cookbook with only your favorite recipes.

This looks easy enough, even for me.
  • Gardening/Outdoor Design It's time to start making everything look nice outdoors.  This is the place to start.

I love this Tybee Island Porch.
  • Fashion Keep up with the latest and pin your favorites.
Source: polyvore.com via Tracy on Pinterest

I love the pieces that were chosen for this outfit.
  • Giveaways and Reviews It's a way to let all my followers know what's going on. And when they share it multiples like rabbits. Good for bloggers.

  • Beauty tips

Perfect summer blonde (the hair color not her - duh)
  • Homemade Recipes for cleaning, beauty products, everything.

  • Blogging tips, camera, learning tutorials all on one board/file. It's so helpful.

  • Places to see All the places I want to visit go into a file. It never hurts to dream or have goals.

 Bora Bora, French Polynesia
  • Hobbies Any hobby can have a board/folder.  Again it's like having the best magazine ever. It's full of only the things you like.

I love card making.  Even when it's just admiring someone elses.
  • Secret files are great for keeping things you want just for yourself. It can be really helpful for gift giving or getting.
Come on, you didn't really think I was gonna show you that one!
  • Gift Idea files You can create a folder for every person you have to buy for. It makes shopping so easy. You can even allow others to pin on your board, so your loved ones can add what they want. Next time someone asks what you want tell them to go to the board where you've added all the things you're dreaming of.

Here's a nice little something for me.  You know just in case you were looking.

When ever I'm looking for something I want to create, whether it's a craft or recipe or even if I need fashion tips, I search on Pinterest first. It's easier than google and much more visual.

Finally Pinterest is much easier to use than you think. You'll be an addicted pro in no time. Hope this gives you the courage to try Pinterest if you haven't already.

Have a fun weekend Y'all

It's Been A Busy Month of Kittens, A Birthday and Surgery

I've completely destroyed the house.  Sorry but I don't have the guts to show that picture.

Kitty, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty.....
Source: etsy.com via Denise on Pinterest

Source: etsy.com via Denise on Pinterest

Yep, we've got 5 new kitties and a mama in the house.  Try adding that to a house that already has a dog and a cat.  Nope, the above picture is not of my new temporary kitties.

Source: etsy.com via Denise on Pinterest

Those precious kitties were found late in the afternoon on the 13th.  Only half a day before my birthday.  I can consider that a birthday present can't I?
Then I spent 2 days cleaning up the mess I'd made in my house.  I felt like I was about to give birth.  I had that huge, nesting burst of energy.  So I did lots of dusting, vacuuming, washing, and trying to make everything that I have spread out over the house generally better.  Tip - that's not really possible when you've started a half a house job, of prepping walls to paint but get surprised by surgery.  But it's clean - sort of.

I even managed to get a new rose bush planted and a tomato bush as well as transplanted some plants and raked up about 8 wheel barrels full of leaves.

My feet have been hurting since November.  I finally saw the specialist on the 11th and he said we need to do surgery the next Wed.  Knock me over with a feather.  Two feet - Four Places - All At One Time. EEKKK!

The most fun part had to be getting there at 9:30 for an 11:30 surgery only to have to wait until about 2pm to go back to get ready.  Then they decided they needed monitor me for an hour and to consult with others about my others about my heart before going through with it.  No food, tired, not real happy.  Surgery got underway around 4 and I got home close to 7pm.  We were both exhausted by then.  Why did I even need to go the day before?

Now my feet look similar to the ones below without the heel attached.  Does Givenchy really call this fashion?

These Givenchy heels don't look much bettered than my bandaged feet but.  I can't image buying these, especially at Givenchy prices.  I'd be more than happy to get rid of mine.  From looking at the above photo, I'm pretty sure the model on the right isn't a foot model but what do I know...

We did pause in the middle of my home destruction to go over to my cousin's house and hang new sheet rock in his kitchen several days.  He's a lot of fun to be around and he's always eager to help us when we need it.  Even in the middle of his construction zone he baked a wonderful ham for Easter and hosted a nice outdoor diner.  We've always been more like brother and sister than cousins.  There were just 4 of us but it made the day so special being together.

Now that you know what I've been up to.  What's been going on with you?

Hugs...Tracy ♥

Purex Crystals and Jockey Sports Bra Giveaway

It's January again and one of the first things that comes to mind when is new years resolutions. Being women, I think pretty much everyone of us has added "get fit" or "lose weight" to our resolution list at one time or another. I don't even think of making one about joining a gym but I do think I can manage to walk in my neighborhood once a day. Here in Florida, heat and moisture are two of our big concerns. That's why I'm happy to share these two products with you, Purex Crystals and Jockey. After reading more you'll understand why these two are connected.

We all know that you don't want to use the normal liquid fabric softener on towels because it inhibits their ability to absorb moisture. How do you dry off if you can't absorb moisture, right? That's why Purex Crystals are so special. For years I've missed being able to have that super soft feel and the wonderful scent that comes from fabric softener on my towels. Not anymore.

Welcome back delicious smelling towels Purex Crystals is an innovative freshening product that doesn't use oil for softening, so it can be used on all types of laundry. Purex Crystals is the more natural way to freshen your clothes for weeks not days.

Purex Crystals are 92% natural crystals that go in at the start of the was so they spend more time with your laundry infusing them with long lasting freshness. And no more softener balls and messy liquids that can sometime stain you laundry.

Purex Crystals do not contain oil, so it can safely be used on all laundry including:
  • Athletic wear
  • Towels
  • Children's sleepwear
  • & everything else!

That brings me to my letting know about the 2012 Jockey Tech Terry Performance Sports Bra. Just the thing to help me with my Get Fit new years resolution.

Just seeing the Jockey active wear sitting there is incentive to get me going. Just check out these features:

  • Moisture-wicking sports bra helps keep you cool & dry
  • Convenient key pocket so you can take your workouts anywhere!
  •  Reflective logo at the back
  •  Breathable mesh panels
  •  Soft bottom band for comfortable support

With Purex Crystals it's safe to use on performance sportswear. You couldn't do that with traditional fabric softener because the oil content would prevent the wicking process. Purex Crystals are also safe use on flame retardant fabric like children's pajamas.

Having your choice of three difference scents is an added plus. The hard part is deciding which one to get.

  • Fresh Spring Waters
  • Lavender Blossom
  • Tropical Splash

Purex Crystals are priced just right for my budget at $3.99 (pricing will vary by location and store).

Buy it now: Click here to sign up for a 20% off coupon for a Jockey sports bra.

Thanks to Purex and Jockey one lucky Cotton Pickin Cute reader is going to win a their own bottle of Purex Crystals and a Jockey Sports Bra.
