Bundle of Joy - 123 Challenge Blog

It's busy out there folks... sheesh! I'd rather stockpile the fridge and hide indoors, only venturing out after the crowds have worn themselves out for the day! ;)

If you have some time for fun (or to de-stress!) why not join us for the December 123 Challenge. This month's prompts are:

* COLOUR = METALLICS
* WORD = JOY
* TECHNIQUE = BOWS

I'm ashamed to admit, but I am one of those people who has possibly the worst newborn photos ever. With my first child, we went to the labour ward and forgot the camera! So the first moments of my son's life were captured on a disposable one, bought hastily in the gift shop. Tragedy! I tried to get better prepared for the second... packing the camera in the bag days before I went in. Erm.... not thinking about where my arms were going to be during a c-section, these precious moments were entrusted to a less-than-enthusiatic nurse and well... the rest is history I guess. I wish I could have a rewind button where I wasn't looking like death, or the baby was sleeping beautifully, or I took those annoying sales people up on their offer for a free portrait of your bundle of joy. It's like the first few weeks of my children's little lives didn't happen! This is one of a precious few (that after heavy retouching) is just about passable...

Bows... this was a challenge for me. Not a lot of flowers or 'pretties' on my layouts as you know, but I was totally inspired, having just experienced 'The Power of Heidi' after her class here in Brisbane. I've created a little mixed tag with a Crate ticket, a Heidi mistable camera and a clear heart from the Mixed Company ephemera pack. The seam binding was then tied through the die cut shapes of this Pink Paislee 'Color Wash' paper.

I've used some super cute bow pattern Mixed Company paper to back the triangle die cuts as well as a gold Crate doily for the metallic aspect of the challenge. Still enjoying my Epiphany Craft tool, I've teamed it with this gorgeous #love Greastest View flair.

Entries for the challenge close at 11.55pm 31st December.

If you want to get your hands on some Heidi Swapp or Pink Paislee goodies, there is plenty available in the Sassy Scrappers store. As a bonus, all orders placed between the 16th and 25th December, go into a lucky draw!

Have a great day!

Cool Customers - 123 Challenge Blog November

Posting to my Facebook page can be a right pain in the bum sometimes!

Unable to link to the 123 Challenge blog (and giving up before I threw a tantrum) I'd like to share my DT example for this month's challenge

The prompts this month are: teal; 'cool' and stamping

There has been so much going on lately, I'm glad I didn't forget to post this as I've been looking forward to sharing it.

Title is a mix of silhouette cuts (glitter... love!) some cheeky stamps and alphas

I have inverted the colours of the photo I've used and repeated them multiple times with one black and white. They have been sewn down on top of a background of gesso and mixed stamping.
The last photo has been made into a pocket by not applying any adhesive to the top of it. It holds my journalling.

It's been a fun challenge, getting to use loads of stamps on one layout - I'm keen to try this a bit more!

*You have until 11.59pm 30th November to link your entries. I've said it before but please remember that your entries CAN NOT be used for any other Challenges, it must be created solely for this site and challenge...

Thank you for stopping by x

Heartbreakers!

Scrolling through the photos on my phone sometimes leaves me in stitches! Look at these crazy kids, entertaining us through glass... Beautiful little piggy noses!

They are debuting in my layout for this month's challenge at 123 Challenge blog with the following prompts:

* COLOUR = Yellow
* WORD = Heart
* TECHNIQUE = Mixed Alpha Title or Journaling

I'm using a delicious sheet of Glitz Wild & Free 'Chevron' which is in store at Sassy Scrappers now. Love the ironic touch this little Greatest View flair brings to the layout ;)

Some little arrows... I've stitched my journalling to one - almost looks like a medieval scroll

I've mixed some simple black alpha stickers with a cut that I've made in the Glitz paper using my Silhouette. I've backed it with some red for a bold title and dotted a few heart embellies to play it up.

Hopefully you get to play along this month - You have until 11.59pm October 31st to enter your creations to the link tool on the sidebar, please remember ALL entries must be created and use for this challenge ONLY!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sweet Stack

So have any of you ever had pneumonia? I was finally diagnosed last Wednesday, after weeks of being really ill. I'm finally on the mend, but the going is slow. Too slow for an impatient person like myself. Ten days since my last blog post is totally unacceptable! lol

Thankfully, I had a layout ready to go for Sassy Scrappers on Friday. I'm loving the new Cut & Paste 'Adorbs' collection by My Mind's Eye. I didn't have the energy to post about it here, so if you fancy a little nose, this is the link.

Another layout I've been keen to share, is for this month's challenge at 123. You've still got a whole week to join us for some fun!

These are the challenge prompts for September

and this is my DT example

I've been sitting on a couple of very sweet Heidi Swapp mini fotostacks for a little while. This layout is all about Erin's first bath and this gorgeous Serendipity one came in handy for lots of precious photos.

To create the textured background, I have used a 6x6 Heidi Swapp doily template with some texture paste. It dried to a semi opaque finish which gave lovely definition without going overboard.

I must say, I did get a little lump in my throat looking at these pics. I don't remember her being so tiny.

I've just created a very simple cluster so the stack is not sitting alone in the middle of the page. A couple of Petaloo blooms and a 2Crafty Dandelion which I've primed and misted.

Entries close on the 30th September, and you can link your entry via the blog here

Thanks for popping in today

Three in a tub

Hello again!

I hope you are enjoying this fine Tuesday. The weather is Brissy has been amazing! Spring will be calling soon :)

I'd love to share this layout with you today that I have popped together for 123 Challenge blog this month. The theme for August is

This is my take

After too much drama and moving over the years,  I have precious few photos of my family or my childhood. I do, however, have one photo album that holds some gorgeous photo's of my mother and her siblings. Here she is with her sister and brother in an old tub!

I've scanned the original photo and printed it off, cutting the edges by hand, to recreate the original. I've added a lot of foam tape to get it to really pop out of the frame!

** OFP**

Yes, your eye are not deceiving you.... that is a doily. One one of my layouts... lol! I've given it a light spritz of Color Shine to jazz it up. I also love these gorgeous light bulb chippies from 2Crafty. I've kept this little guy plain.

So I'll let you in on a little secret. I love woodgrain paper. But I'm too stingy to use it. I just buy it to look at! I wanted to use some woodgrain for the title, so I Googled a picture of a wooden background. I printed it off onto some card stock and cut the title with my Silhouette. Ta da! To finish it off, I covered it with some Glossy Accents.

Materials used: Paper: Crate; Heidi Swapp; Simple Stories. Embellishments: Greatest View flair; Heidi Swapp banner; 2Crafty chippy; Crate stickers & Instaframes; Jillibean Soup journalling spot; Glitz & Hambly washi tape; Doilie; Color Shine; resin flower; rhinestone; Silhouette Cameo

Hopefully you can find the time to join us this month over at 123! You have until the 31st August to link up your entries.

Thanks for stopping in today. I'll be seeing you on Friday.
