Andy Martin renews his September 12th prediction that Benghazi is the “neutron” issue that will defeat President Obama for reelection

On September 12th Republican national security and foreign policy expert Andy Martin predicted “Benghazi-gate” would “doom President Obama’s reelection.” While “Washington Republicans” were undermining Mitt Romney on September 12th, Andy Martin stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the governor and predicted that the “Benghazi-gate” controversy would defeat Obama. In his provocative pre-election analysis, Andy now explains why “Benghazi-gate” is the “neutron” issue in the presidential campaign. Andy also defends Mitt Romney’s nimble decision to let surrogates and third parties carry the banner on Benghazi-gate. Andy says his prediction on September 12th was the “call of a lifetime.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican Party national security and foreign policy expert Andy Martin says his September 12th prediction that “Benghazi” would defeat President Obama is on schedule

Andy is a strong supporter of Governor Mitt Romney

In his latest detailed analysis, Andy explains why Benghazi has been a “neutron” issue and how Benghazi will bring down the Obama presidency

Andy says “Benghazi” has seeped into the election narrative without becoming a visible issue in the presidential campaign

Andy defends Mitt Romney’s decision to downplay Benghazi in Romney’s debate prep and closing arguments

Andy calls his Benghazi analysis the “call of a lifetime”

(Manchester, NH) (November 5, 2012) Republican Party national security and foreign policy expert Andy Martin was the first Republican to defend Governor Mitt Romney on September 12th and to predict the impact the attack on the U. S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya would have on the presidential election. His views:

I. The background to my September 12th prediction

I first went to Libya in 1971, soon after the Gaddafi regime took power. Over the decades since then, I have kept a close watch over developments in Libya. When the consulate was attacked on September 11, I immediately “connected the dots” and issued my presidential election prediction and public support for Mitt Romney on September 12th.

II. The criticism that the “media” are not paying attention

Partisans for an issue often believe they are receiving insufficient attention for their cause. That appears to be the case with regard to reporting on Benghazi-gate. But while others have criticized the “lack” of coverage I have kept my mouth shut.

I have been monitoring the spread of Benghazi-gate through the ether of the Internet. The spread of Benghazi-gate has been pervasive and ultimately lethal for the Obama campaign. If an issue has genuinely “not been covered,” then people should not know about it. But the people who need to know about Benghazi know all too well about the incident (see Part V below).

Benghazi has been both a highly visible issue and a “neutron bomb” that is exploding President Obama’s reelection without living any visible impact. Fox News has led the charge in exposing Benghazi-gate but other media have followed (see links in part [2] below for a small sampling). Jeanine Pirro has been leading the charge. Disputes with the CIA's version of events have been reported, as well as criticism of the “cover-up.”

A story does not have to be “front-page news” to have a dramatic impact, particularly when an issue has an esoteric appeal to a specific group of voters such as military personnel and veterans and voters focused on foreign policy. That’s why I now label Benghazi a “neutron” issue. I predicted on September 12th that the story would doom Obama’s reelection; that was the “call of a lifetime” for its prescience.

Since September Benghazi has seeped into every area of the presidential campaign. The attack and the aftermath and cover-up are mentioned constantly and, apart from the campaign itself, and the candidates’ own tactics, Benghazi has been a focal point of the last weekend of the election. What more can anyone ask?

III. Romney’s decision not to focus on Benghazi-gate

Governor Romney has come under considerable criticism for not making “Benghazi” an issue in the final debate, and for not raising the issue of Benghazi in his speeches during the closing days of the campaign. Instead, surrogates such as John McCain and Kelly Ayotte and others have continued to attack the Obama administration for its Benghazi cover-up.

Media often want a “fight.” That is why there were endless predictions Romney would fire back at Obama in their final debate after the confusion generated by Candy Crowley at the second debate.

But Romney proved a more nimble and disciplined campaigner than anyone expected. Romney has stuck to his positive views, and his economic arguments. In my opinion, Romney’s closing days of the campaign have been brilliant.

Benghazi would have diluted Romney’s economic message and muddled the stream of positive comments Romney is delivering. As a clear example of shrewd marketing and candidate “positioning,” Romney’s team was totally correct and the media and others were completely wrong. In fact, Romney’s clear and consistent positive message, when juxtaposed with Obama’s negativity and querulousness, is a prime justification for my belief Romney will win on November 6th.

In retrospect, Romney’s team’s counterintuitive strategy of assigning Benghazi-gate to surrogates will prove to have been a brilliant decision. Benghazi-gate will be on November 6th what I predicted on September 12th, the issue that doomed President’s Obama’s reelection campaign.

Indeed, Benghazi has infiltrated the media to such an insidious extent that people ignore the obvious. Saturday’s New York Post “Page Six” had a cartoon that showed President Obama pursued by a Frankenstein “Benghazi.” (I can’t find a hyperlink to the cartoon; if you find one, please send it to me.) All aspects of the controversy have received more than adequate analysis (see links below in part [2]).

But the article that crystallized the pervasiveness of the Benghazi issue for me was an editorial written by Jac Versteeg raising doubts about Obama’s handling of the Benghazi aftermath (see link [3] below). The Palm Beach Post is a liberal newspaper in a very liberal part of a liberal region (South Florida).

Any Democrat should know that when Obama’s judgment is being challenged in the Palm Beach Post, the president “has a serious problem.” Anyone and everyone for whom Benghazi would be a decisive issue in voting is now fully aware of what happened and how Obama evaded responsibility for his feckless behavior in allowing besieged Americans to be denied any relief.

IV. Andy Martin’s lifetime of national security predictions

Dan Balz, who is now the national political correspondent for the Washington Post, was my editor at the Daily Illini at the University of Illinois. At the beginning of 1968 I walked into Dan’s cube and handed him a commentary based on my knowledge of Viet-Nam. I predicted Khe Sanh would be a critical battlefield in 1968, and that the A-Shau Valley would become a renewed focus. Both predictions proved to be correct. Balz did not run my column because he did not trust my expertise. Balz was not the last person to ignore my work.

During the 1979-1980 Iran hostage crisis I was the only American allowed into Iran in 1980. President Carter’s staff ignored my analysis then.

In the run up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, I predicted the invasion would weaken Israel and strengthen Iran. While living in Baghdad I became an early, if not the first, critic of Paul Bremer. I predicted the insurgency when the opposite view in Washington was that the capture of Saddam Hussein ended the conflict. So while my September 12th Benghazi analysis was the “call of a lifetime,” I have made many similar “calls” during a national security and foreign policy career that goes back to the 1960’s. Now you know why my views and analysis are respected around the world. I have a proven track record of getting the call right.

[Andy has over forty years of national security experience with Asia and the Middle East; he is regarded overseas as one of America’s most respected independent foreign policy, military and intelligence analysts. His analysis of the terrorist threat in Iran during the 1979-80 hostage crisis, and again in Iraq in 2003, were leading-edge predictions of what Americans faced in the future.

Andy first went to Asia in 1967 and since then he has been in Israel, Jordan, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Viet-Nam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Burma and Hong Kong. He was in Iran and Afghanistan in 1979-80, and has regularly returned to Southwest Asia since then. Most recently he lived overseas in Iraq in 2003.]

V. The bottom line: Benghazi undermines Obama’s reelection

President Obama thought his “killing Osama” meme would encourage military veterans and retirees to vote for him. Benghazi has turned the military and the veterans’ community against the president. Retired veterans are concentrated in swing states such as Florida, New Hampshire, Nevada and Ohio. The manner in which besieged Americans in Benghazi were callously denied any rescue efforts has disgusted our military personnel and veterans. Veterans’ votes will prove to be the margin of victory for Mitt Romney in several swing states. Count’em. Ironically, and surprisingly for many, Benghazi “grew” into a lethal weapon against Obama, a self-inflicted fatal wound to his reelection. And I predicted that on September 12th.

Did Barack Obama try to discredit foreign policy expert Andy Martin who blew the whistle on Benghazi-gate?

Republican foreign policy expert and New Hampshire corruption-fighter Andy Martin “blew the whistle” on Benghazi-gate on September 12th. Before anyone else in government or politics would come to Governor Mitt Romney’s defense, Andy Martin stood up and stood out and defended Romney’s criticism of the Obama regime. While “Washington Republicans” were undermining Romney, Andy Martin stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the governor. On September 12th Andy predicted that “Obama’s foreign policy collapse is now the paramount reason to remove him from the White House.” In response, President Obama’s lackeys may have used The Associated Press to counterattack and discredit Andy. The effort backfired. The record documents that Andy Martin was the first analyst to recognize both the military significance and the political significance the “Benghazi-gate” attacks would play in the presidential campaign.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican Party foreign policy expert and New Hampshire corruption-fighter Andy Martin was first to analyze and disclose the significance of Benghazi-gate – on September 12th

Andy was and is a strong supporter of Governor Mitt Romney

Andy says President Obama’s operatives may have tried to use The Associated Press to undermine and discredit Andy’s prescient commentary on Benghazi-gate

(Manchester, NH) (October 14, 2012) Republican Party foreign policy expert and New Hampshire activist Andy Martin was the first foreign policy analyst to defend Governor Mitt Romney and to disclose the domestic political impact of the September 11th attacks on the U. S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. His views:

I. The long history of conflict between Barack and Andy

In 2004 I wrote the first disclosure that Barack Obama’s “autobiography” was mostly fiction. I asked the publisher to put Obama’s book on the “fiction” shelves, not the biography section. Obama was very irritated that I had scored a bull’s eye on his credibility. During the 2008 presidential campaign I disclosed major new aspects of Obama’s “hidden history,” culminating in a national appearance on “Sean Hannity’s America” where I accused Obama of being a “socialist” (link below). I was the first independent investigator to go to Hawai’i to dig for the truth about Obama; what I discovered there has increasingly become accepted doctrine in the conservative community. The Obama campaign took notice of my criticism.

II. Obama’s long history of attempts to discredit Andy Martin

Obama’s initial retaliation against me took the form of cyber attacks. Later, in October, 2008 Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs went on “Hannity and Colmes” and accused Hannity of being an “anti-Semite” because Hannity had me as a guest on his program (despite George Soros’ relentless attacks on Hannity and me, neither I nor Hannity are anti-Semites; Gibbs’ attack was just another diversionary attack). Obama assets later attacked me in New Hampshire. On September 19th, 2012 Obama & Company may have used The Associated Press to discredit my exposure of Benghazi-gate and my prediction that the murder of American diplomats would doom Obama’s reelection.

Take a look at the facts and look closely at the time-line. Then you be the judge.

III. Andy Martin’s chilling predictions on September 5th

On September 5th I filed a column (links below) accusing Hillary Clinton of “undermining the war on terror” and calling for her resignation. I made my accusation during the same period when Clinton was denying adequate security to her diplomatic staff in Libya. I outlined how Hillary Clinton’s loyalty to the “Clinton Global Initiative” created a conflict with U. S. security interests overseas.

In retrospect, my claim that I sometimes “see over the horizon before our own diplomats do” proved to be tragically accurate a week later.

IV. Andy Martin comes to the defense of Mitt Romney

On September 11th Al Qaeda associates launched a terrorist attack on the U. S. Consulate in Benghazi. The liberal media immediately attacked Governor Mitt Romney for his criticism of the Obama administration’s response to the earlier Cairo "video" demonstrations. Obama & Co., through their media parrots, accused Romney or “undermining” foreign policy. I vigorously defended Romney and said that Benghazi-gate would “doom President Obama to reelection defeat” (links below; read the entire story). I expressly defended Romney against attacks by “Washington Republicans.” I further predicted “Obama's foreign failures are coming crashing down on him just as he runs for reelection at home.”

I focused on the seriousness of the Benghazi attack long before anyone else would step up to defend Governor Romney. Belatedly, everyone is now supporting Romney. But on September 12th Republicans were wringing their hands at Romney's honesty and his forthright criticism of Obama's failed foreign “apology policy.” I defended the governor before it was safe and popular to do so. And I also provided the “first look” into both the political and diplomatic significance of Benghazi-gate.

IV. The Associated Press attempts to undermine Andy Martin

As though acting on cue for the Obama administration, on September 19th The Associated Press mysteriously ran a national story which appeared on every major web site in the United States calling me a “legend in my own mind” and referring to me as a “self-proclaimed Republican foreign policy expert.” There was nothing whatsoever that I had done to justify a national story. The Associated Press distributes stories locally, regionally or nationally based on their importance; a national or “A-Wire” story carries national importance.

What had I done to justify national attention by AP? Well, in the AP’s snide words, “nothing.” I was an “imaginary” expert. Why would AP be covering an “imaginary” and “self-proclaimed” foreign policy analyst? Makes you wonder.

V. Why is Andy different from “Washington Republicans” and liberal media “experts?”

I have not had a conventional career. I started out in politics, segued into political intelligence, was educated as a lawyer and became a foreign policy expert in dangerous places around the world (see listing below). I have a track record of accurate analysis. The liberal media’s “experts” do not. You can check my predictions going back to Iraq in 2003. My views were not popular then. I predicted the ultimate failure of the invasion.

I am a “classic conservative” critic, which means I take a conservative view of life. I am not a conservative weenie who swallows the conservative party line without question. So, instead of having “one” career, I have had several careers, sometimes simultaneously. And, my multiple experiences all provide me with a multi-dimensional or polymathic perspective on each new challenge. That’s why I claim to occasionally “see over the horizon.” Been there, done that.

VI. Andy against exposes Obama’s chaos in the Middle East

On September 23rd I again analyzed the growing chaos in Obama’s foreign policy (links blow), calling the “Libya-video” story a “canard” and again calling for Hillary Clinton’s resignation. Here is part of what I said on September 23rd:

“With every passing day the Benghazi disaster and the murder of our ambassador becomes the most serious foreign policy fiasco since Jimmy Carter’s Iran hostage crisis. Hillary Clinton has appointed a ‘committee’ to study her own incompetence. Wow.

“Obama’s U. N. ambassador claimed the Libya attack was due to a ‘video.’ Obama’s news secretary repeated the ‘video’ canard. President Obama went on Univision and said he ‘didn’t have all the facts,’ which is a form of paranoid schizophrenic defense mechanism.

VII. The bottom line: Obama lied; Andy exposed the truth

In retrospect it all looks so orderly. I predicted on September 5th Clinton was “endangering” Americans. On September 12th I defended Mitt Romney after the consulate attack. On September 19th The Associated Press mysteriously published a national story saying I was an imaginary expert and specifically referencing my own news story of September 12. On September 23rd I made new predictions which have been validated by subsequent events.

I am writing this column for two reasons: First, I would like to defend my own national security and foreign policy credentials as compared with those of other media that lack my experience in the real world. Second, the events of the past month reflect how the national media relentlessly seek to discredit and undermine critics of President Obama by ridiculing their qualifications and experience. Maybe that’s why Barack Obama’s own operatives have been using the media to attack me for the past several years. They are afraid of the truth, and they are afraid of me. You be the judge. (This should be the end of the story.)

OK, a column based on accurate predictions should make another prediction. Lawyers have an old rubric about clients that don’t pay their bills. The saying goes, “Clients should never refuse to pay either their lawyers or their accountants. They could run into “problems.” Here’s the prediction: Presidents and vice presidents should never dump on their diplomats and intelligence agencies. They could run into “problems.” Obama’s attempt to blame the clandestine services for his own failures in Libya will boomerang and backfire.

[Andy has over forty years of familiarity with Asia and the Middle East; he is regarded overseas as one of America’s most respected independent foreign policy, military and intelligence analysts.

He lived in Iraq in 2003.]

Foreign policy expert Andy Martin: Mitt Romney is right to criticize Obama

Republican foreign policy expert Andy Martin will hold a New York news conference today, Wednesday September 12th to strongly support and endorse presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s critical remarks concerning the foreign policy failures which culminated in the murder of U. S. diplomats in Libya and the storming of the U S Embassy in Cairo. Andy says “Washington Republicans have it wrong, and Romney has it right. The American people will instinctively grasp the correctness of Romney’s criticism of President Obama’s foreign policy failures. Now is the time, not after the election.” Andy will go even further, and call for the resignation of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton because of her foreign policy conflicts with Bill Clinton’s “Global Initiative.”

ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW YORK NEWS CONFERENCE

ATTENTION NATIONAL AND NEW YORK DAYBOOK/ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Republican foreign policy expert Andy Martin backs Mitt Romney in Romney’s fight with liberal media, Washington establishment

Andy says Secretary of State Clinton should step down because of her obvious conflict of interest with the Clinton Global Initiative

Andy says the Obama/Clinton foreign policy is a complete failure and Clinton’s endless stream of “mush words” are viewed with contempt in the Muslim world

Andy says the “October surprise” arrived early, in September, and dooms President Obama to reelection defeat

Andy says we need a president who will stand up for the American people, not a president who has promised to “stand up with the Muslims” in the event of a crisis

Andy has been to Southwest Asia, Afghanistan, Iran and many other countries in the region where Muslim fanatics are raging against America

Andy accuses liberal media of trying to “muzzle” Romney to protect Obama and to avoid a vigorous foreign policy debate during the presidential campaign

(NEW YORK) (September 12, 2012) Republican foreign policy expert and conservative blogger Andy Martin will hold a New York news conference today to strongly support Governor Mitt Romney’s criticism of the Obama Administration’s foreign policy. Andy will also call for the resignation of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“First, a brief apology to Governor Romney,” Andy will note. “I have wanted to issue my formal endorsement of Governor Romney for about a month, and because of all of the other news events and our own special operations seeking to defeat President Obama for reelection, I dilly dallied issuing my formal statement in support of Governor Romney. Mitt, my apologies. I will be issuing a formal endorsement of Governor Romney next week in Manchester, New Hampshire when I announce the formation of an independent PAC, “Romney’s Rangers” to work as hard as humanly possible to elect Governor Romney to the presidency.

"Today, September 12th, we learned that on a day when our nation was mourning and memorializing the attacks by Muslim fanatics on September 11, 2001, more Muslim fanatics were storming our embassy in Cairo and killing American diplomats in Libya.

“Predictably, the liberal media have tried to drive a wedge between Governor Romney’s criticism of the Obama administration and the expressions of regret by ‘Washington Republicans’ in Congress (see link below).

“Every American of whatever political view mourns the loss of our diplomats. We are indeed united as a nation as we respond to the deaths of our fellow citizens. But mourning and memorialization are not the issues here. The issue is the total, abject and complete failure of Barack Obama’s foreign policy. Obama's foreign failures are coming crashing down on him just as he runs for reelection at home.

“Unlike other ‘foreign policy experts,’ most of whom are glorified desk jockeys and cable TV talking bobbleheads, I have actually been in Libya, Egypt, Israel and Iran (see final paragraph for details). I have a foreign policy track record you can go online and read. That is why I am uniquely qualified by experience to endorse Governor Romney’s foreign policy remarks and to enthusiastically encourage Romney to vigorously criticize the Obama/Clinton Administration’s failures.

“The liberal media are now trying to suggest there is cleavage between Romney’s aggressive response to Obama’s failures, and the more muted way congressional Republicans have responded (link below). The media are trying to muzzle a debate over Obama’s foreign policy failures by demanding national ‘unity.’ There is no national unity in failure, President Obama. None. President Jimmy Carter taught us that painful reality.

“President Obama, you are a failure and both Governor Romney and the American people have every right to raise that issue during the course of the presidential campaign. The liberal media have it exactly backwards.

“The Houses of Congress are hallowed places where we can mourn and memorialize our lost diplomats. But the political arena, and a presidential campaign, are the proper forums to aggressively attack and debate Obama’s foreign policy failures.

“I was in Iran during the 1979-1980 hostage crisis. I was in Libya and Egypt during earlier turnovers in power in those countries. I went throughout the Middle East in 2003 and was the first person to criticize George W. Bush’s foreign policy failures in Iraq.

“I am well known overseas as someone who calls them as I see them, and I often see over the horizon before our own diplomats do. So while I am supporting Governor Romney’s attacks on President Obama, I am doing so on the basis of a lifetime of professional experience in foreign policy and not as a partisan.

“One of the burdens of being a political analyst and columnist is that I have to go through regular periods of watching the weirdoes on MSNBC. I must admit they are entertaining. But MSNBC’s hosts could not be more wrong when it comes to politics and foreign policy. It was just hours ago that MSNBC’s hosts were drinking a toast to Obama’s reelection and declaring the Romney campaign dead-on-arrival.

“Even before I could write my first round of critical comments, the ‘October surprise’ arrived early this year, in September.

“Everyone believed ‘the economy’ would defeat Obama for reelection. The economy will still be a major contributing factor. And the economy is not helped when viewers see chaos on their TV screens. I will have much, much more to say in the days ahead about the disgraceful way Muslim extremists murdered our diplomats and stormed our embassy. But Obama’s foreign policy collapse is now the paramount reason to remove him from the White House.

“Obama has always been perceived as a weak leader by Americans, even those who personally ‘liked’ Obama and wished him well. But this is no time for a weak leader who intimated in his bogus autobiography that he would ‘stand with the Muslims’ if a crisis ever arose (see FactCheck.org link below for their analysis of what Obama wrote, and Andy's response). FactCheck.org says Obama never said ‘stand with the Muslims’ in haec verba. But the context of Obama’s remarks was very clear. He would ‘stand with them [Arab and Pakistani Americans]’ in the event of a crisis.

“We need a president who is going to stand up for the American people, not ‘stand with the Muslims.’ It’s as simple as that.

“No one is suggesting a return to the mistakes of internment camps in World War II. No one is going to repeat the errors of that conflict. But Obama’s self-professed bias is pro-Muslim.

“Reasonable people can debate Obama’s religious heritage; I have been a leader in that colloquy. But no one can debate the fact that since Obama became president he has indicated in his Cairo speech and elsewhere that he is overly sympathetic to the Muslim perspective. Obama’s presidential words are carved in stone. The Cairo speech will live in infamy in American history. So yes, Obama’s lifetime of pro-Muslim bias can and must be debated.

“But, as they say in the late night TV infomercials, there is more.

“It was just a week ago that I caused a foreign policy community fracas when I exposed how Bill Clinton’s ‘Global Initiative’ had become the source of a competing, alternative foreign policy which created a conflict of interest by undermining Secretary Hillary Clinton’s independence as chief foreign policy maker. Just a few days later the conflict of interest I identified has burst into the open. Hillary Clinton has been flying around the globe, bragging about her frequent flyer miles. But her Clinton/Obama foreign policy has been an abject failure.

“And matters are going to get worse. Much worse.

“We need Mitt Romney in the White House. Mitt needs to ignore liberal media criticism, and ignore the meanderings of the Washington establishment. Romney needs to criticize Obama’s foreign policy failures. The American people want Romney to take off the gloves and show he can lead the nation in a time of crisis. If I may be so vulgar as to snatch another phrase from history, President Obama’s foreign policy failures ‘are chickens coming home to roost,’” Andy charges.
