Andy Martin: President Barack Obama is an unwelcome guest in the Middle East

Andy Martin, Barack Obama’s original critic and one of America’s leading foreign policy and intelligence analysts, says President Obama may be an “unwelcome guest” in the Middle East this week. Obama has alienated Israelis and Palestinians. Even our closest ally in the region, Jordan, is impatient with Obama’s endless prevarications.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Obama critic Andy Martin calls President Obama “President/Emperor Ozymandias”

Andy sides with Israeli intelligence chiefs on how to deal with Iran

Andy surveys the Middle East and says Obama is an “unwelcome guest”

Andy speaks highly of Jordan’s King Abdullah, who is an American ally-in-fact and not just in rhetoric

(MANCHESTER, NH) (March 20, 2013) Republican foreign policy expert (see bio below) and corruption-fighter/conservative blogger Andy Martin says Barack Obama’s trip to Israel, Palestine and Jordan may end up reflecting that Obama is an “uninvited guest:”

Four years ago Barack Obama made sweeping statements about the future of the Middle East, Arab nations and the Muslim world. Today he begins his “first trip” to Israel, and moves on to Palestine and Jordan. I suspect that President Obama may end up being an “uninvited guest.” I have good friends and have spent a fair amount of time in Israel, Jordan and Palestine.

[In separate remarks later today I will present my views on the 10th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. But today we deal with Obama’s trip to Israel, and his ongoing stops in Palestine and Jordan.]

Unlike 2009, on his current trip Obama is not making predictions or promises. He claims to be “listening.” Listening tours usually precede a campaign or candidacy, or perhaps even adoption of a policy. Obama is admitting that in the fifth year of his presidency he has no policy in the Middle East. I am indebted to Amir Taheri for the timeline of Obama’s visit (please see link #1 below).

There is a sharp cleavage in Israel – which Americans rarely see in our own media – concerning policy towards Iran. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu favors attacks on Iran. He shows all of the bravado of George W. Bush before 2003, when Bush was laying the foundations for the invasion of Iraq.

The Israeli intelligence community on the other hand has come out strongly against an attack on Iran (please see group link #2). Unsurprisingly, I stand with the intelligence chiefs. They have the better of the argument.

I am not a fan of PM Netanyahu but I respect his intelligence. Netanyahu knows that when Obama says he has “Israel’s back,” Obama’s promises are worthless. The American people are sick of foreign adventures and have no desire to trigger what could become a mini-World War III. It is very unlikely that the United States will ever launch an attack on Iran. Netanyahu knows this.

Adding to the instability there is no personal chemistry between Obama and Netanyahu. In fact, I cannot think of any foreign leader who has personal chemistry with Obama. Obama is cool and remote both to our allies and our enemies.

Columnist Amir Taheri suggests the scheduling of Obama’s trip “is a downgrading of the US relationship with Israel (link #1).”

If Obama is giving the cold shoulder to Israel, will he be welcomed in Palestine? Taheri suggests Obama may also be excoriated during his visit to Palestine. Obama has managed to anger both the Israelis and the Palestinians.

In the past Obama has made extravagant promises to Palestinians. But he has delivered nothing; in fact, he has delivered less than nothing. Palestinians find themselves fighting the US at every United Nations General Assembly. The New York Post predicts Obama may be jeered in Palestine (see group link #3). Rather amazingly, Obama has managed to alienate both Israelis and Palestinians. Could matters get worse for the visiting president?

They could.

Our closest friend in the region, King Abdullah of Jordan, admits that the days of his unbridled monarchy are ending. Abdullah’s “kingdom” is the last vestige of the Hashemite kingdoms that were established by the British after World War I in the 1920’s. (Iraq was another.) In a pessimistic interview Abdullah basically says “a pox on all your houses (see Link #4).”

In the past Abdullah has put his nation squarely behind the United States. The CIA operates its largest station in the region, perhaps even in the world outside the US, in Amman. The US Government has created a sprawling diplomatic and intelligence plantation in Amman – the command and control center of our Middle East operations. So, yes King Abdullah is a true friend and a real ally of the United States. He is a former special forces officer.

But Abdullah also realizes that in the long run the United States cannot save Jordan from the march of history. Abdullah predicts that in the future Jordan will become a constitutional monarchy, a nation state totally unlike Saudi Arabia today, where an absolute monarch reigns and where that absolutism shows few signs of flexibility and respect for the future sweep of history.

Before the 2008 election I used to get cautionary messages from my agents in the Middle East: “don’t criticize Obama, he’s one of us,” they would say. I told them they were mistaken. I knew better. Obama never confuses religion with policies. But after the 2008 election in 2009 Obama began to present himself as an Islamic savior.

In reality, there was a brief moment when Obama could have taken dramatic and drastic action. A substantial American force was still in Iraq and he was a new president. He could have insisted on a continuing US presence in Iraq, and cut the Gordian Knot of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But instead of taking action Obama only made sweeping speeches, and then did nothing, not unlike his way of dealing with his domestic “base.” Obama makes aspirational but vacuous speeches, and then fails to deliver results (as this is being written the Senate has torpedoed Obama’s signature gun control goal, an “assault weapons” ban).

Obama lives like an emperor in the White House. Truly he is a “king” in the same vestigial manner that King Abdullah views his own declining prospects. But Obama may not even achieve the legitimacy of Jordanian King Abdullah. Although the American president is obsessed with his “greatness” and “legacy,” Obama may turn out to have been a king of a different nature: Shelley’s King Ozymandias.

That’s why Obama is likely to be an unwelcome guest in the Middle East this week. The American people may have made a mistake in reelecting Obama; but our lives don’t depend on the outcome of his foreign policy. In a region where our foreign policy really matters, The Middle East, sadly for the United States Obama is just an unwelcome guest today.

ANDY MARTIN: Mark Kirk is defaming Greek-Americans with his efforts to smear Alexi Giannoulias

Illinois corruption fighter Andy Martin says Mark Kirk’s efforts to link Alexi Giannoulias to the financial problems of the European Union are scurrilous. Martin says Kirk is engaging in “ethnic McCarthyism” by seeking to link Alexi Giannoulias to economic difficulties in Greece.

ATTENTION DAYBOOK/ASSIGNMENT EDITORS

ANNOUNCEMENT OF SUNDAY NEWS CONFERENCE IN PALM BEACH

Andy Martin says Greek-Americans should send Mark Kirk a message: The Republican Party will be boycotted as long as it is led by racist drunks and punks such as Pat Brady and Mark Kirk

Martin says Kirk’s attempts to demonize Alexi Giannoulias by connecting Giannoulias to economic problems in Greece is nothing but ethnic McCarthyism.

Martin says he is taking the lead in “taking down” Kirk because Illinois’ Greek-American leaders are afraid to stand up and condemn the bigotry of the Republican Party

(CHICAGO)(September 5, 2010) Internet Powerhouse Andy Martin will hold a Palm Beach news conference Sunday, September 5th to accuse Mark Kirk of being “racist, repulsive and repugnant” for attacking Alexi Giannoulias based on the financial crisis in Greece.

“Mr. Kirk and his slimy patron, the drunken brawler Pat Brady, have been attacking Alexi Giannoulias as a Mafioso. They have now begun to demonize Giannoulias for problems in Greece having nothing to do with Giannoulias:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/02/
alexi-giannoulias-mark-kirk-greek_n_703230.html

“I do not support Alexi Giannoulias, have never spoken to him, and have no connection with his cmampaign. But my mother’s parents immigrated form Greece, and they came to the Chicago area about a hundred years ago to work on building the railroads. My fmaily was invoved in foundng some of the earliest community association of the Greek-American commnity. F mylate Uncle Bill Vasiliou was still alive he would be outraged by Kirk’s demagogery.

“Where are Illinois’ ‘usual’ Greek-Ameircan leaders? Are they afraid to stand up for Greece? Are they political hypocrites? If so they are cowards, and they are no better than Mark Kirk.

“I am not an ‘ethnic’ poltiican and I usually run away from appeals based on parentage. But I was baptised in the Greek Orthodiox church and I will not allow Kirk to conduct his slimy polticis and to denigrate Greek-Americans with his malignat campaign tactics.

“If anyone should be consdiered an agent of a foreign governent, it is Mark Kirk. Kirk takes campaign cash to be a mouthpiece for the Israeli military junta in Tel Aviv. It is Kirk who sabotaged Ameirca’s foreign policy interests for campaign cash, not Alexi Giannoulas. Kirk is the one who lied about ‘weapons of mass desrtruciton’ in Iraq the same way he lied about his own military career. Kirk drew us into a war that virtually bankrupted ordinary Americans, damaged our economy and cost thosuands of damaged and dead troops.

“Kirk has a lot of nerve bragging about his Navy service, where he has spent two decades doing little more than enjoying buggery. Kirk’s attempt to link Giannoulias to the financial problems of the European Union are laughable. Kirk’s compaprisonof his disgracvefuil embarrassment to the nacvy, with Giannoulias’ basketball playins is a complete non sequitur. Kirk is a disgrae to Ameircan to the navy uniform, and to the republican Party.

“Kirk’s anti-Greek smears are desperate acts by a desperate man who was exposed as America’s greatest liar, and the biggest embarassment to the U. S. Navy in years.

“Spain has similar financial problems to those in Greece. I don’t see Kirk insulting Hispanics. Ireland is a financial mess. Should we blam Pat Brady for being a drunken fisticuffer and hold him accountable for Irelands economy? Not at all. Even I won’t blame Brady for Ireland’s prblems. Brady has enough problems of his own. He’s in bed with Mark Kirk.

“The bottom line: bgoh Kirk and Giannoulias have been rejected by Illinois voters. Both men are flawed in different ways. But they should make their cases to the voters without engaging in ehtnic smears. Kirk’s anti-Greek behvauior is an embarrassment to the Republcian Party, locally and nationally.

“If Mr. Kirk expects to continue to represent the reopublcian party, ansd e may decide to step down ater we dump more dirtonhim in a few days, he should not inslting Greek-Ameircans and stop tryignto link Giannoulias to the naitonof Greece. If he keeps it up, Kirk is going to be very unhappy whenI expose his unsvaiorty links to Israel.

“Greece has been aloyal friend to Ameircan, through Wirld war II, Krea and in the Cold war. Tyo see Kirk smearing Greece to gain a few votes from neanderthanl voters tells you what kindof a senator Kirk would be:” divisive, coirrupt and totally withotu nay moral scruples.

“Kirkis a despciablehiman beign whio devastated and destroye dhis wife, andleft her an emotional basket case. Our investigaiton of the Kimberly Vertoli ragedy is continuing, as oa are out other forthcomign exposes onKirk;s unfitness to hold any publicoffice.

“I was theperson who expose Kirk’s milutary lies and I exposed him as a nacvy imposter long before thenaitonal media did so. Weer have more dirt, and we aimto see that the Illinosipubklic knows who Kirk really is. He is a sick, sick man,” Matin will charge.

Martin is on vacation visiting relatives in Florida and also meeting with supporters to plan the 2012 defeat of Barack Obama.

ANDY MARTIN: You must see the new Palestinian film “Salt of This Sea”

Middle East expert Andy Martin says the Palestinian-American production “Salt of the Sea” is a vivid portrayal of the complexities and contradicitons of modern Israel and Palestine. He recommends the movie as an amalgam of “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Easy Rider” and the “Three Amigos” all mixed into one. Martin, who has lived and worked in the Middle East for over forty years, says the film presents Israel and occupied Palestine as they really are on a day-to-day basis.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Andy Martin says if you want to know what modern Israel and Palestine are like, see this film

(NEW YORK)(August 14, 2010) Friday afternoon I received a desperate email from a woman who was promoting a new film just opening in Greenwich Village. I went. The movie, “Salt of this Sea,” is a Palestinian-oriented production filmed on location.

You must see “Salt”. I enjoyed it immensely. I love the Middle East and so I have a special affection for the setting. The film is both a sad and loveable tale of a region that is left increasingly barren by the legacy of historical errors orchestrated at the end of World War II.

The movie resonated on many levels. As I watched the opening sequences I thought, yes, the Israelis really are that abusive when you visit Israel. I have stories to tell.

When “Soraya” crosses from the “West Bank” into Israel, the clanking of the bars at the Qalandia Checkpoint is frighteningly real. People are treated worse than cattle. I was there. The film is so real I felt I was back in the West Bank. And in Jerusalem.

Some of my newer readers associate me more with local issues. But for parts of the past five decades I have been focused on Asia and the Middle East.

How to describe the film? It is a Palestinian version of “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Easy Rider” and the “Three Amigos” all rolled into one. Although the movie is deadly serious and very dramatic, you can’t help but laugh at the Erich von Stroheim accents of the Israelis who have created a miniature replica of the Third Reich on the Mediterranean. “Vhy are you here?” “Vere are you staying?” “Vere is your second passport?” They really talk that way.

People who support Israel should see the film to get a true view of the nightmare that Israelis have created for Palestinians; Israelis have also given birth to a self-defeating, self-destructive nightmare for themselves as well.

The movie is dedicated to the memory of an Israeli massacre at al-Dawayima.

Ironically, while the United States supports “two nations” for “two peoples,” and that is the popular mantra, the Israelis have gone us one better and created “three prisons (including Gaza) for two peoples.” The Palestinian prisons are more degrading and dehumanizing. But Palestinians have a spirit of survival that will ultimately triumph.

The Israelis, on the other hand, have also imprisoned and dehumanized themselves in the process of degrading their neighbors. The Israeli historical narrative is gradually dissolving as World War II becomes a distant memory.

Soraya is an American-born Palestinian who wants to reclaim her family roots in Jaffa. Her family was pushed out by the 1948 Israeli invasion of Palestine. She visits Israel to see a friend in the West Bank and finds that the Israelis have completely rigged the system against local residents. Palestinians live under a brutal occupation. [Full disclosure: when the Israelis “liberated” the West Bank in 1967, they really were greeted as liberators; so it wasn’t always this way. The Israelis worked hard to make enemies of their Palestinian friends, and with typical Israeli efficiency they succeeded.]

In a “Bonnie and Clyde” escapade, Soraya, her chaste new “guy” and a third friend decide to stage a bank robbery to reclaim the money her family left on deposit in 1948. From there we transition into “Easy Rider” as the three amigos pretend to be Israelis, dress like Israelis, steal Israeli license plates for their van and head for Jerusalem and Jaffa. Good Morning Jerusalem!

At the premier on Friday star Suheir Hammad, who portrays Soraya, was there to describe how the film was produced. The “Israelis” were all genuine Israeli actors. And yes, they do talk with that faux Germanic accent over there. The abuses Israelis inflict on visitors I have personally witnessed. The film is as real as real can be.

Parts of the film are so real they were recorded as they actually happened. When helpless Palestinians were climbing a fence to cross another barrier between Jerusalem and the West Bank, right in the middle of a shooting sequence, the cameraman captured the indignity as it was actually unfolding. That is why I say if you have not seen Jerusalem and Israel today, see this film.

Israelis themselves have freedom of movement, and a much more open society (which is why gay Arabs covet a pass to Israel). But no one can ultimately live free in a police state, and Israel is becoming the ultimate police state, controlled through political propaganda, military force and bogus “democracy.”

I have never seen a more vivid snapshot of the sadistic reality of modern Israel. “Your papers, please. For your own security, of course” could be the Israeli national motto. But the film also portrays Israel’s freedom and prosperity, for some of the inhabitants. Even if their Israeli government is evil, most Israelis are not. It is a great tragedy that Israelis and Palestinians have dissipated their energy and creativity in perpetual war. There is no winner.

Israelis will retort that as a result of the Arab backlash to the expulsion of the Palestinians in 1948, hundreds of thousands of Jews who had lived peacefully for centuries in Arab lands also experienced the same expulsion and displacement as the Palestinians. One of my former girlfriends was Jewish, born in Alexandria, Egypt, forced to become a refugee.

And in case you didn’t know, Baghdad was once the greatest center of Jewish life in the world.

Bottom line. I love all of ‘em. I do not hate the Israelis (although I condemn their government) and I love the Palestinians (although I am deeply concerned by the increasing fundamentalism that has crept into their society).

One of the most racist, Nazi-like propaganda statements ever uttered was Israeli Prime Minister Golda (“who was born in Milwaukee”) Meir's claim that Palestine was a “land without a people, for a people without a land.” The movie dramatizes how Palestinians retain the memory of their homes in what is now Israel. Many of these residences have survived since 1948 and are still there. Joseph Goebbels could not have created a bigger lie and a grosser historical injustice than Israeli Prime Minister Meir’s false claim that Palestine was “uninhabited” when she arrived.

I’m not Jewish, of course. But I grew up in a very philo-Semitic home where the Holocaust was a topic of regular discussion. My father helped train the Jewish Brigade in the British Army. A London newspaper editor once described the Middle East conflict as one between “two wronged peoples.” But historical truth always triumphs in the end. Palestine was not a “land without a people.” You see the descendents of the people who actually lived in Palestine in 1948 portrayed in “Salt of this Sea.”

Where is the Israeli Gorbachev to make peace with the world? Israelis are mired in their own lies, a nation living on borrowed time. The hourglass is getting closer to empty.

Only when Israelis admit the injustices they inflicted in stealing their homeland from the indigenous population can they begin the process of reconciliation and permanent peace. That is what Soraya demands and what she does not receive.

The current householder of Soraya’s ancestral home is a sympathetic pro-peace Israeli. In a twist, when Soraya can’t stand the frustration of confronting the present, she leaves. But one of her copains stays behind with the Israeli girl, proving love knows no checkpoints and no ideologies. Or was it sex? Who knows?

Before departing Soraya vehemently demands that the Israeli occupant of her family home “admit” to the injustices of 1948 as the price of remaining in possession. But the Israeli is not mired in the surreal past. She has erased her history to avoid the painful reality of how her country was founded.

Still, the Israeli girl gets the Palestinian boy in the movie. That’s probably closer to the truth than either side wants to admit.

Don’t go to see “Salt of this Sea” to get angry or be hateful. Laugh a little, or even a lot. Remember that for one couple in the movie love triumphs over all. Reflect on the likelihood that if Israelis persist with their racist policies they will ultimately fail to establish permanent roots for their Reich-in-the-Desert. Palestinians may ultimately prevail, after enduring decade-after-decade of unspeakable and unnecessary abuses and injustices. All subsidized by your American tax dollars.

Time is not on Israel’s side.

This is a great little film. It conveys the sad truths of Palestine with a light touch and an occasional smile. Think Bonne and Clyde, Easy Rider and the Three Amigos all mixed into one.

[If you see the movie, whichever “side” you believe in, send me your comments and we’ll do a follow-up.]

U.S. policy towards Iran is nothing more than an Israeli charade

Internet Powerhouse Andy Martin blows the roof off the New York Times' refusal to disclose which "allies and domestic constituencies" are blocking abandonment of a failed Iran policy. "What are the identities of these 'allies and domestic constituencies,' that the New York Times refuses to print?" asks Martin. Martin, who was in Iran in 1979-1980 during the hostage crisis, is internationally regarded as America's most respected independent Middle East/Asia expert.

The article speaks of "positions that some allies and domestic constituencies won’t like." Who are these secret opponents that are blocking abandonment of a failed strategy? The "Israel Lobby," of course. The "Israel Lobby" became notorious after an academic exposé that in turn created a firestorm of criticism directed against the authors.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Israel_
Lobby_and_U.S._Foreign_Policy

What is the real policy agenda of the Israeli government? Do Israelis really want to start World war III by attacking Iran? Or is Iran just a foil? A charade? A distraction. I believe that "Iran" is only the latest in an endless list of diversionary tactics employed by the Israeli regime to delay and divert Palestinian statehood. Follow me on this.

Just before President Bill Clinton left office in 2001 Israel and the Palestinians were close to an agreement. That 2001 understanding ultimately will form the basis of a future Palestinian state.

President George Bush succeeded Clinton, and Ariel Sharon became head of the Israeli junta. Sharon focused on confusing Bush and creating a pretext for Bush to abandon the nearly completed statehood arrangements. Instead of preparing for the tenth anniversary of Palestinian statehood today, and peace, Israel still occupies Palestine and occupies the U. S. government's foreign policy as well.

How did Israel succeed? By using the same tactics in 2001 that it is using in 2009: creating a bogeyman as a "barrier to peace."

But there is a change in 2009: even Israel's staunchest supporters are beginning to see through the Israel game plan even IF they cannot publicly admit the fact:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/23/AR2009052301536.html

What did Sharon do in 2001-2003?

Sharon sent two types of people to the U.S. He sent professional intelligence people to discuss critical issues (all of which the Bushies ignored) about a potential invasion of Iraq; he also sent clowns to the White House, to scare Bush with claims of an "existential" threat to Israel's existence. 2002 was so 2009.

Israel always has to have an "existential" threat because this "threat" is used to justify delaying statehood to Palestinians. Lacking any foreign policy expertise of his own, Bush turned to his advisers, who were mostly Israeli sympathizers. These men served Bush badly and ultimately betrayed his administration. They launched the invasion of Iraq.

In 2001-2003 Israel was trumpeting that Saddam Hussein was "paying money to suicide bombers." Saddam's behavior was proffered as a pretext to invade Iraq. Bush was buffaloed with false claims of an Al Qaeda-Iraq liaison, and "terrorists" receiving medical care in Baghdad. WMDs anyone? Many of these claims had superficial validity. But none of them individually and none of them collectively furnished any basis to invade Iraq, to squander a trillion dollars, to demolish Bush's presidency and to endanger America's economy.

I am not suggesting that Israel is ultimately responsible for the Iraq mess. I blame Bush and his junta of jerks for invading a nation that was no "existential" threat to anyone. Iraq had been effectively contained with an American policy that had cost only a handful of lives and pocket change in the federal budget. The Israelis may have duped and deceived Bush, but I hold Bush, not Israel, responsible for his own stupidity and incompetence.

The invasion/occupation imbroglio Bush created served as a basis to delay Palestinian statehood and to perpetuate the Israeli occupation and terrorization of the Palestinian people.

In 2009, Benjamin Netanyahu is again making the same "existential threat" claim. This time the "threat" is Iran. He came to Washington saying "no action in Palestine until Iran is solved." People laughed at him. Once again, Israel is making noises about unleashing bombing attacks on Tehran the same way it previously threatened Baghdad. Once again we hear Israelis boasting in the house organ of Israeli propaganda, the Wall Street Journal, that the regime is committing kidnapping, murder and arson in support of its national policy.

Only this time, while Israelis are selling the same "existential" hokum, Americans are not buying. In a curious reversal of reality, the "pro-Israel" Democrats are refraining from self-destructive action where the previously "pro-Arab Bush Republicans" stepped into the Iraq mess. Maybe someone has learned something.

As David Ignatius of the Washington Post put it, there is no "magic bullet" solution to the Iran situation.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/22/AR2009052202591.html

Iran can read the newspapers just as we can, and see that Israelis are boasting of kidnapping, murders and arsons all directed at the Iranian people.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124243059842325581.html

Likewise, the U. S. has been undermining the Iranian government:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/11/washington/11iran.html

The U. S. has appointed an Israeli supporter, Dennis Ross, as "negotiator" to Iran. He's not neutral. Ross works to advance Israeli interests.

In addition, Obama is repeating another one of Bush II's major mistakes: "secret agreements" with Israelis. According to the Washington Times, the U. S. and Israel are creating a clandestine "working group" to "assess the progress" of U. S. Policy.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/may/20/
us-israel-forming-working-group-on-iran/

Since when does the U. S. need Israeli assistance to evaluate U. S. foreign policy? And they wonder why people ridicule us and hate us in the Middle East. Despite this cloak-and-dagger drama, however, Israel is still employing Iran as a foil to delay and disrupt Palestinian statehood.

The bottom line: Israel is using Iran the same way it used Iraq, as a charade to delay Palestinian statehood. The increased secrecy may indicate that the "allies and domestic constituencies" who cannot be named by the New York Times, namely the "Israel lobby," may finally be losing influence within the executive branch while they visibly continue to impound the U.S. Congress.

Is Iran a "threat" to Israel? No more than Israel is a threat to itself. Israel's forty-year occupation of Palestine, after a concocted 1967 war based on phony claims, including the murderous attack on U.S. sailors aboard the U. S.S. Liberty, is the greatest threat to world peace.

I am not suggesting choirboys lead Iran. Obviously that is not the situation. But Israelis focus on Iranian rhetoric rather than Iranian deeds. Iran has never attacked any of its neighbors. Israel constantly does.

Do Iranians have a reason to dislike Israel? Well, yes. Israelis are world-class experts in torture. Israelis tutored the Shah of Iran's Savak on how to torture Iranian citizens, and especially mullahs. So, yes, if someone had tortured me, and I knew who that person's teacher was, I would not be friendly towards the torture teacher. Anyone disagree? Iran clearly has a basis to hate Israel. Just ask the Iranians who were tortured under Israeli supervision.

What about the bugaboos of U. S. politics, "Hamas" and "Hizballah?" Iran does indeed mentor and supply and finance these anti-Israel institutions. There is no doubt of that fact. But these organizations will diminish when the occupation ends and peace begins. These organizations have never targeted Americans and represent a local, homegrown response to Israel's occupation of Palestine.

Over the past decade I have sketched how "peace" will come to the Middle East. Once peace is formally approved, hostilities will not end all at once. Extremists on both sides—Israelis who claim a mission from God and Muslims who claim an equally God-given mandate—will continue to snipe at each other. "Peace" in the Middle East will not immediately look the way it does along the streets of Chicago or New York or Washington. A level of violence and terrorism will persist.

But as both Israelis and Palestinians recognize, and they will, that they have more to gain from peace than war, Israelis and Palestinians will take control of their own destiny and eventually wipe out their own extremists, the military warmongers in Israel and the resistance in Palestine.

Today racists and extremists who support ethic cleansing as Israeli national policy manage the Israeli government. Avigdor Lieberman is "foreign minister" for the regime; he wants to eject Arabs and seize Palestine as "God-given" Israeli land. He lives in an illegal settlement on occupied land. The "regime" (and I call it a regime for that reason) does not condemn racism, or ethnic cleansing or occupation or torture. The United States tolerates thuggish claims in the Israeli government that it condemns in the Iranian leadership.

Mr. Lieberman, meet Mr. Ahmedinejad.

Torture and occupation have become part of Israel's national DNA. No one can disengage from his or her DNA without external actors. Israel needs a big dose of international chemotherapy before it can legitimately be called a civilized state. Symphony orchestras in Tel Aviv and Nobel Prizes are used to mask torture and occupation. No one is fooled, except American politicians who have their palms out and pretend not to see the Israeli atrocities while scooping up pro-Israel campaign donations.

In the meantime, writers and editors at the New York Times live in fear of naming the unmentionable "allies and domestic constituencies" whose names cannot be printed. Why is the Times afraid to name these unmentionables? Fear of being branded "anti-Semitic." False screams of anti-Semitism are used to silence America's media.

Please do not be intimidated by or misled by Israeli propaganda masquerading as U. S. Government policy. Israelis are the existential threat to Israel, not Iranians. The U. S. should settle the Palestinian question, which the United States crated in 1948, and peacefully resolve its differences with Iran. As for the Israel lobby? You be the judge of what punishment fits the crime of having tortured U. S. foreign policy for over sixty years.

Pro-peace Israelis believe Obama represents a break with past U.S. policy. In'shallah. On this issue, I hope they are right.

U.S. policy towards Iran is nothing more than an Israeli charade

Internet powerhouse Andy Martin defends Dubai’s quarantine of Israeli athletes

ANDY MARTIN
Executive Editor
ContrarianCommentary.com

“Factually Correct, Not
Politically Correct”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ANDY MARTIN SAYS THAT IF THE UNITED STATES COULD BOYCOTT RUSSIA IN THE 1980 OLYMPIC GAMES, EVERY NATION SHOULD BAN PARTICIPATION BY ISRAELI ATHLETES UNTIL THE SIEGE OF GAZA IS ENDED

EVER SINCE THE NAZI THIRD REICH, “SPORTS” AND “POLITICS” HAVE BEEN IRRETRIEVABLY INTERTWINED

“THREE CHEERS FOR DUBAI,” SAYS ANDY

(NEW YORK)(February 17, 2009) The “sports world” (which must be something other than the real world) is in a kerfuffle because Dubai has banned an Israeli player from participating in a tennis tournament, and may ban other Israeli athletes from participating in Dubai sporting events. Three cheers for Dubai

Unlike the despicable Mubarek dictatorship, that grovels at the feet of its Israeli masters, tiny Dubai has struck a blow for sanity and international responsibility.

The entire world, except for the Israel lobby in the United States and its valets on Capitol Hill, is aghast at the Israeli rampage and slaughter in Gaza. Gaza continues under siege, thanks to the misguided policies of George Bush and a rotating cast of Israeli thugs. Barack Obama has largely rubber-stamped Bush’s policies.

But, because most of Israel’s critics (including myself) are nonviolent, all we can do is protect and condemn Israel in the courtroom of public opinion.

Thus, a complete quarantine of Israeli athletes would be advisable as a peaceful and nonviolent protest against the military junta in Tel Aviv.

For the athletes to claim they are “nonpolitical” is rubbish. Have they condemned the Gaza slaughter? Or did some of them dutifully vote for the Russian mastermind of a new fascist regime in Tel Aviv? We have a right to know.

Forty years ago, Cassius Clay was demonized because he stood up and opposed the Viet-Nam war and said he had “nothing against them Viet Congs.” He changed his name to Muhammad Ali. He paid a horrible price in public condemnation and financial deprivation. But few questioned whether the sporting world had a right to condemn Mr. Ali’s politics.

Likewise, no one seriously questions that boycotts of repressive regimes are an appropriate response to participation in the Olympic Games. China escaped an Olympic boycott last year only by falsely claiming it would respect human rights, and then violated human rights. Many Americans called for a boycott; we were right to do so and had every right to do so.

If we can boycott China and Russia, why can’t Dubai boycott Israel? No nation should be forced to welcome any citizens of a savage Israeli regime that murders women and children and holds an entire people hostage to enjoy the fruits of a stolen homeland. Quarantines are a humane way to impress on the Israeli people that they have no future in the civilized world, and that the same asphyxiation Israelis are directing at Gaza will now be directed at Israel by civilized nations.

Even the Turkish Prime Minister recently called for the expulsion of Israel from the United Nations. Now that’s a boycott.

So, please, Israelis, and please, athletes, do not engage in self-serving breast-beating about Dubai’s peaceful protest. Instead, direct your energies at condemning the genocide against the Palestinian people, and perhaps Dubai will relent and allow you to compete as private citizens and not as citizens of the racist regime in Israel.

If there was any doubt about the violent and racist nature of the Israeli nation, that country voted overwhelmingly a few days ago (in free elections) to place a fascist mastermind who was born in Russia at the pinnacle of power (Avigdor Lieberman).

The day that a neo-Nazi such as Lieberman legally enters the Israeli government, every nation should suspend diplomatic relations with the now formally fascist state of Israel. Maybe that gesture will send a message. Dubai has taken the first step. Who will follow in that tiny nation’s footsteps?

The world has every right to condemn Israel. It is a moral failure that civilized nations have failed to do so.

Three cheers for Dubai.

Andy Martin says the Israeli Rape of Gaza will go down in history alongside the rape of Nanking and the attack on Guernica

American television is beginning to convey more graphic images of Israeli atrocities in Gaza, Andy Martin says. Martin, who was Barack Obama's first and strongest critic and remains so, says he now "grieves" for the man who will inherit the Israel-created chaos in the Middle East. The Gaza bloodbath marks the beginning of the end for the Israeli regime, Martin predicts; the Zionist dream has been hijacked by Nazi-style military murderers. Obama will inherit the madness of Israeli government policies, and may be helpless to undo the damage inflicted on the past few weeks.

Internet powerhouse Andy Martin says the rape of Gaza could become a historic turning point in American foreign policy

American media are gradually awakening to the reality of Israeli troops drunk on Palestinian blood

Will America pay? No one can predict the future, but Obama appears doomed by the Israeli slaughter in Gaza, and maybe so are we

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ANDY MARTIN PREDICTS THAT THE ISRAELI BLOOD LUST IN GAZA WILL EVENTUALLY DESTROY ISRAEL AND ENDANGER THE UNITED STATES

"TODAY I GRIEVE FOR BARACK OBAMA," SAYS MARTIN.

(CHICAGO)(January 12, 2009) The Japanese Rape of Nanking, the Nazi attacks on Guernica. You can add the Rape of Gaza to the senseless slaughters that will be remembered as turning points in history. Pictures in the N. Y. Times of "chanting" Israelis before they spill Palestinian blood are spine chilling.

Israel is doomed; will America follow? Will America be dragged down by Israel's bloodthirsty insanity? Very possibly.

Barack Obama's "dreams" for "change" are being destroyed by Israeli leaders. He is not enough of a man to condemn this villainy, and he will pay as well. How they all pay, and when, remains to be seen.

When graphic pictures of Israeli savagery start turning up on local New York City television stations, you know that a serious calamity has been triggered by Israeli arrogance and greed. WABC-TV Channel 7 was unable to avoid the reality that the majority of causalities were innocent civilians, mostly women and children, not "Hamas fighters."

This "war" of the American-armed against the unarmed has been a relentless torrent of Israeli atrocities, and Israeli disinformation about those atrocities. Making war on a civilian population, historically condemned today at Guernica and Nanking, when there were obvious alternatives for peace in the Middle East, will doom the Israeli state just as much as the end of Nazi Germany and the end of Imperial Japan were foreordained by their attacks on unarmed cities.

Why, then, is Israel engaging in a senseless slaughter of women and children in Gaza?

During the Middle Ages anti-Semites created the "blood libel" that Jews captured children to slaughter them. These claims were outrageous lies, but the viciousness of the concepts persisted and led to the insanity of the Third Reich.

Today is it not a lie or a libel, however, to state unequivocally that Israelis are indeed slaughtering children, despite Israeli denials to the contrary. Are we witnessing a blood libel, or a blood reality? The pictures of Israeli troops "chanting" before they went in to spill the blood of women and children were chilling; nothing like this has been seen since the Nazi storm troopers of the Second World War. Chanting what?

Israelis, of course, claim they are merely "protecting" themselves. They are doing no such thing. Over the past week even the New York Times and Washington Post have been forced to print op-ed commentaries that document the gruesome realty and mendacity and the crass political motives behind the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people. Israel abandoned a working truce in Gaza to launch blood-soaked attacks on innocent civilians. Why?

In an earlier column, I made the point that the real target and the true victim of the Israeli slaughter was Barack Obama. Obama has terrified Israeli leaders with claims that he wants peace. Israel was created in the wake of a war and can only survive through endless war. Israel cannot exist at peace with its neighbors because the very existence of the Israeli state has become an anathema to every civilized nation in the world except the United States.

And, yes, Channel 7 also showed pictures of Palestinians congratulating Americans on their weapons of mass destruction. American bombs and American planes are spilling Palestinian blood. Israelis have tied us to their homicidal policies. People know where the Israeli torture chambers and killing machines originate: in the good old U S of A.

Those of us who tell the truth about Israeli aggression are smeared as "anti-Semites" and worse. We are nothing of the kind. We are civilized human beings who condemn the blood soaked leaders of the Israeli state and their insatiable hunger for Palestinian blood. In a ritual so sick it is frightening, Israelis hunger for Palestinian blood to slake their own thirst for legitimacy as a nation. They will never succeed and never satisfy that thirst.

I am no friend of Barack Obama; indeed I have been and I continue to be one of his harshest critics. But today I feel pity for Obama. I have a deep sympathy for Obama and his supporters. Israeli leaders are destroying Obama, and Americans will be the ones to get the bill.

There is never a one-for-one relationship between outrageous acts by nations, but sometimes we come close. During the 1980's, Americans tragically destroyed an Iranian airliner. The incident was a mistake, but we paid with the subsequent Lockerbie attacks on Pan American Airways. Blood for blood.

Are Palestinians going to launch attacks on the United States? Not on your life. Palestinians have never attacked any nation. They have been defending their homes and land for over sixty years, nothing more. They have had to defend against a relentless blood lust of the Israeli people to "defeat" the Palestinian people. As recently as last week an Israeli leader looked down on Palestinians as "defeated." Defeated by whom? For what?

It is Israel that is defeated. They just don't know it yet. Their endless game of "blood for land" is over. Israel's latest treachery and slaughter will be internationalized in ways that we can't yet see or predict. Most likely, the Palestinians will not even be the ones to extract the revenge. But in Afghanistan, and Pakistan, in Iraq and throughout the Middle East, America will be an increasing anathema. To play on Obama's own words, I don't think he can "reboot" the jackboots of George Bush's policies. The images are too embedded in our minds.

The hypocrisy and impotence of Arab leaders is also sickening. The Mubarek dictatorship is moved closer to its deathbed because of the Palestinian slaughter. Egyptian perfidiousness has reached sickening proportions. An Egyptian "ambassador" sits in Israel while Palestinians are slaughtered. What is the ambassador doing? Sipping tea with Israelis? The American puppet Mubarek, of course, has contempt for his own people, and treats them like hogs. Why would he not treat Palestinians even worse?

In Jordan, the British puppet monarchy will probably fall as well, and sooner than we expect.

All of these catastrophes for U. S. policy are not going to happen next week. But they have become as inevitable as the disintegration of the Israeli state. In seeking to exterminate Palestine, and to "defeat" Palestinians, Israel has triggered the timeline for its own extermination and defeat.

We like to condemn the "holy warriors" of Islam, and indeed Islamic fanatics are a negation of everything we believe in the civilized west. In accusing Israel of bloodthirsty tactics I am not doing so to endorse militant Islam. Unlike Israelis, who try to shoehorn their critics into a "for us" or "against us" routine, I am against both sides. I find both extremes odious and self-destructive.

But the holy warriors of the Israeli state, who today chant on their tanks as they go in to the spill Arab blood, will be chanting different melodies in the years ahead. They may not be so arrogant and racist as they are now.

Israel committed a classic, colossal blunder. Israelis feared Obama; I did not. On Al-Jazeera in November I predicted that Obama would be Bush III, more of the same mindless support for Israel. In reality, Israel had nothing to fear from Obama. But they were consumed by fear anyway, irrational fear. Obama would have liked nothing better than to let the Middle East slide for another eight years; but the rape of Gaza has made continued American support for Israel untenable.

Politicians, of course, will still seek money from the "Israel Lobby," and loudmouths such as Senator Chares Schumer will still glory in the spilling of Arab blood. No doubt.

But from the Rape of Gaza forward, America's support for Israel has become toxic and fatal. Americans will now have to decide whether they want their own nation destroyed to endorse and support the blood lust of the Israeli military junta.

When the Obama voters and Obama himself wake up and see the reality and mendacity of the Israeli bloodbath, directed at America as much as at Palestinians, there will be a reaction and it will not be a pleasant one. Israelis, of course, being a sociopathic society, think they can drink a little Palestinian blood, stop the spilling, and then play "pretend" and go back to normal relations with neighbors and the U. S. I don't think so.

If Americans die, and they probably will as a result of and in the wake of the Israeli pogroms, we will no longer be able to ask "Why do they hate us" when the answer has been splayed across local TV stations in the United States: because we pay taxes to Washington to support politicians who support bloodthirsty Israelis in their holy wars against Islam.

This is a strongly worded column, but not one that is ultimately anti-Israel or anti-American, or pro-Palestinian and pro-Arab. Individual Israelis who favor peace are as helpless as individual Americans who seek peace. We have been hijacked by maniacs in our national leaderships. Ultimately, however, senseless slaughter advances no agenda. Blood-soaked policies only reverberate, sooner or later, on the perpetrators, not the victims.

Once, a helpless baby, an "Obama," was born and he went on—rightly or wrongly—to assume power in the United States. Perhaps today somewhere bleeding in Gaza is a helpless child that will grow up some day to slay the bloodthirsty Israelis. I wouldn’t be surprised. History has a way of playing tricks on us.

We began this century drunk on our own "superpower" status and were later consumed by a bloodthirsty hunger to unleash our weapons of mass destruction on Iraq. The American blood that we spilled has been wasted. We accomplished nothing but our own destruction. The world is not a safer place today.

America is much weaker in 2009 than we were six years ago in 2003. We destroyed ourselves through our own blood lust. Today the "superpower" has become a laughingstock, and we are stymied by a supposedly "dead man," Osama bin Laden, and a handful of irregulars in the Taliban forces. Saddam Hussein was an unspeakably evil man but he posed no threat to the United States. In removing Saddam we created a fissure that we may not be able to close.

Obama promised to change this toxic status quo and to end the stalemate. I never believed him. But today I pity him. George Bush has left him mountains of Palestinian corpses that will be avenged by someone, somewhere, on Obama's watch. It won’t be a pretty sight when it happens.

Obama will be blamed of course. But while I am an Obama critic second, I am always an American patriot first. I am not happy to predict such a glum future for our nation and its foreign relations. I am not happy at all.

As much as I dislike Obama and oppose his political views, today it is hard not to grieve for him. Israel is destroying his future, America's future, and its own future by the Rape of Gaza. Once again, we are blinded by our own stupidity and our own blood lust.

Nanking, Guernica, and now Gaza. When will they ever learn?
