hexie blanket ta-da!

i do like to finish things, especially when i've been working on a certain things for nearly seven months!
but it's done, brianna's hexie blanket is finally complete!

the pattern was from here though i changed it a LOT! when i made it exactly the same as the pattern the hexagons wouldn't sit anywhere near flat. not sure if i was using the wrong wool or the wrong needle or just reading the silly thing completely wrong.
i like the way they all turned out though :D

i joined them as i went, using double crochet. brianna and i debated for a fair while about this but again, i'm quite fond of the way it turned out :D

13 colours. 31 balls of wool. 182 hexagons.
all done!
now i have to *sob* pass it over to brianna, it is hers after all. i'll definitely be sad to see it go though...

now to get back to this ol' thing...

my creative space.

after a little break, the hexie blanket is now fully and completely back on the agenda (there may have been a hiccup where i did not completely follow the layout brianna made originally and had to get her to come over again and re-lay the remaining six rows...).
however unlike my previous method of keeping track of the pattern (which obviously failed miserably), this method should keep me on the right track...

i'm off, crochet hook in hand, to watch some crappy tv and attach some hexies!

hexagons, as far as the eye can see.

after our jaunt to magnolia square, and about a zillion op-shops, miss rolling in fabric came back to my house and had a bit of a play with her hexagons.

look at her go, laying them all out like the amazing quilter she is ha ha!

and doesn't it look preeeeeeeeeeeeetty? much bigger than i was thinking actually, even with my horrible maths.

after much debate, and a fair bit of trialling (read: lots of frogging), we decided on double crochet for the edging. and i'm joining on the go! so much easier time wise, but a bit trickier brain wise.

i've even made a start to it! slow going at the moment though due to the mass amount of assignments currently being piled on.
expect to see it growing at northern craft bonanza on thursday night.

my creative space.

182 hexagons. all done.i was actually planning on 196 but i am apparently, VERY bad at maths. luckily i don't quilt i guess.

so brianna's blankie may be a bit smaller than previously planned....

now onto the blocking, only about 100 to do... this could take a while...

oh and then there's the cream edging on each hexagon, but should i do single crochet or double? and how should i join them? queeeeeeesssssssssstions...

i guess i'll have a play around and brianna and i can figure it out later, after we get back from magnolia square!
tell you allllllll about it tomorrow!

that is how many hexies i've made for brianna's blankie.
and that is about all i've been doing.
i've been having some family issues so it's about all my little brain has been able to focus on.
oh and i've had to do some of that awful study stuff. probably why i haven't blogged in a whole week! sorry about that ha ha!

good lord i need a new table cloth! or to clean up the table top...
maybe that can be my job for the rest of the day!
stay tuned ha ha.
