We went away for a week to a sunnier climate. It was nice, a place we had been to in 2008, and not a whole lot has changed. Our time there was fine, and was mostly for the purpose of thwarting husband's seasonal affective disorder which has been getting worse and worse every year.
When we got home, unfortunately husband started to feel like he was getting a cold (airport germs?) and then it hit him hard and I did everything in my power to not get sick, but now it has hit me, too. Blah!! Oh well, it was inevitable. I likely would have caught it from a school anyway.
Speaking of airports, did you know (in Canada) if your flight is delayed so much that your arrival time is more than three hours late, you can apply online for compensation? Our flight through Sunwing was delayed by five hours (yes, five hours) and we did get money back because of it. This does not count if it is due to weather (which it wasn't).
But here is what has really been happening at our place:
This started a little more than a day ago and it is still very much coming down! That's just snow on top of the porch railings, but it looks like a garland. It feels very Christmas-y but I don't have the energy or the inclination to start decorating for Christmas. I have to let this cold pass before I begin dragging out "the twelve boxes of Christmas". We are in a snow belt and always get the brunt of it. Our son, in a city a couple of hours away had a light dusting of snow. Daughter gets the same as us.
Oh my goodness, that's a lot of snow, will it go again or do you have it laying all winter?
ReplyDeleteAs I get older ((70) a cold feels like the flu! So sorry you're under the weather. Get well soon so you can enjoy the season!
ReplyDeleteWe had a couple of dumps of snow too. I don't mind a few centimeters at a time but that much at one time is too much!
ReplyDeleteHope you are both feeling better soon. Take care.
Incredible amount of snow. Lucky you got away. You'll need another holiday if that snow remains. Maybe a winter retreat, in sunny somewhere.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping your germs go away and leave you both alone... As far as germs are concerned
Sorry to hear your holiday ended in sickness once home. Hope you both feel better soon. And snow, glorious snow! Oh well, at least you'll have a white Christmas!
ReplyDeleteYour picture looks like a Christmas card! So pretty, but way too cold for me. Here in Texas we finally got some cold weather for Thanksgiving week (30's - 60's). It was nice enough to bundle up and take a walk down to the stables after Thanksgiving dinner. Hope you both feel better soon. Seems like almost everyone who travels by plane lately comes home sick.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you both feel better soon. That photo looks lovely. Mind you it was 26 degrees C. here yesterday.
ReplyDeleteDid you have a fun holiday in the sun?
ReplyDeleteYou live in a snow belt and are used to the impact on your homes and lives. But with a deep coverage of white over the home and land, do you enjoy outdoor sports and recreational activities in safety?
I hear you on the Christmas! I love to decorate -- love it. But this year it is such a challenge. I'm just not ready. Your snow is beautiful. We got a bit -- more than enough to cover but not enough to compare to other regions. That's terrific about the Canadian flight delay issue.
ReplyDeleteSorry you are both unwell. That photo is beautiful and would make a great Christmas card. Even so, glad it's not here though.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that, that is a beautiful picture! I love snow if I don't have to get out in it. Hurry and get well soon. Being sick is a bummer for sure. Hope hubby is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI am mad-jealous of the snow! That looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe snow is beautiful. I had every intention of decorating today. I even brought up the box of decorations. It didn't happen. I'm glad you got to go on vacation to somewhere warm. Too bad you got sick on return. Hope you get feeling better. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSome respiratory thing has been rampant in my family too. I REALLY had a bad dose of it but it finally seems to be on the way out! We only got a dusting of snow. I'm on the Eastern side, right on the doorstep, of Algonquin Park.
