Announcing....

A couple of months ago I blogged about how we were starting the invitro process all over again. I decided that I wasn't going to update it afterward because of what happened last time (the whole miscarriage) so I haven't really spoke about what happened this time. Well, it went incredibly well! They were able to retrieve 14 eggs and 12 fertilized. After three days all twelve embryos were still growing, which is almost unheard of. So we continued to day 5, the blast o cyst stage, which would give us a better chance. At day 5 all 12 were still progressing! We decided to implant two blasts and wait one more day to see what happened to the other ten. Well, five ended up not surviving, but the other five thrived! We now have five frozen. Anyway, two weeks later, while I was in Utah, I had my blood drawn and we got a positive pregnancy test!
I have to post about the retrieval day. I had the best nurse who did my IV...I didn't even feel it. I wanted to keep her and take her with me to all of my blood draws! Then there was the anesthesiologist...Dr Swayze. He told us that he was a bartender to put himself through medical school and the only difference between that job and this one is he is allowed to let me leave in an inebriated condition! He was great!
Anyway, a couple of weeks later we discovered that we are having one baby, due the end of February. So excited!
