Day 12: Visit to Victory women SHG table banking group

Today the team headed out to another table banking group the SHG Victory women...

Breakfast kicked off with Pastor P's bright blue socks

The bus ride

The women's group was located on the site of a primary school
We watched the banking group in action before we were introduced to the group...

Mario addressed the group

After the team was introduced, the leader of the group talked on how the group works how it was formed and then we headed out and spent some time with the kids before heading back to the center...

Mario played game of Aye-Aye Captain with the kids

Back at the center, we had having a relaxing time some went on a walk around the area and they came back with thorns ...

The team then spent the rest of the evening preparing for the Brainstorm and reflection tomorrow with the board of directors.

The following was extracted from one of the diaries of a cloverleaf missionary:
" Today was very nice, we are getting so close to the end and well everyone is starting to realise that in a couple of days we wont be in Kenya any more...
Mario's speech at the table banking group was very inspiring the people here must understand that money is not everything Jesus is everything. It was great to see the joy in the children today as we spent some time with them even though they all kept calling Suzy 'Sooo-sie" and apparently Mario means woman in Kimeru.
I am really looking forward to the reflection tommorow, there is much work that needs to be done and the early we set a plan out and commit it into God's hands the better."

Day 4: Street Kids Home Visit

Our day started with the now typical breakfast and chat among the team then we headed out to meet Mr. Dickson’s full team with at their office Solidarity House in Meru. It was amazing to see the greatness that comes out of the little office they had.

This is the office where all they meet and come out
with great work

Waiting to head to the market

Both parties where able to discuss and share points and ideas needed to move forward and work together. Ideas put forward for development included table banking within the community, GIRL education action and many other projects.

After the meeting we headed out to the Mujwa street kids home. On our way there we made a quick stop in the markets of Meru where we put our bargaining skills to very good use.

Our last stop was the supermarket, unfortunately no bargaining here

On arrival we had a tour of the home.…

The girls bedroom

This is how they turn on the light in the girls room

The tour continues

Mr Dickson and the boys in the boys room

The classroom

The kids in the chapel

We got to see some of their farm  animals as well

Then the kids welcomed us with songs and poems

We then carried out a couple of activities with the children, the inner child in many people was kindled as we sang and danced...

After our activities we prayed and presents gifts to the home owner before we headed back to the center.

The following was extracted from the one of the Diaries of a cloverleaf missionary......................

" We got to meet the rest of Mr Dickson's team today and it was great to see the unity in moving forward and towards the same goal, the priceless investments these people put into their work carrying on through it all and no matter what... It is quite inspiring...

Many were moved to tears today at the street kids home, Yet we were all deeply convinced of God's love to the children. The live and joy He gives them even though they are in the midst of nowhere near enough, He still watches over them and sends them helpers from any and everywhere... I can only pray that He continues to do so, that even as we left them there He watches over them as always and that He helps them break free from mental and physical barriers they face day in day out.

We finally bought roasted corn today!!! "
