Shannon's Sentiments #30-Sketch

It's Saturday which means another challenge day over at Shannon's Sentiments and this week is a sketch challenge from our hostess Michelle.  I decided to keep exploring the digital world and try my hand at a card this week. I used Paint.net to create my card and got all my design elements from Digi Scrap Depot.  The patterned paper from here is and the black background paper/ribbon/frame around sentiment I got from Pixel Scrapper. The sentiment is from the "Lots of Thanks" set, head on over to the Shannon's Sentiments to join the fun and check out rest of DT's creations!

Shannon Sentiments #29-Graduation

For all my faithful followers, you may wonder where have I been?  Did I fall off the face of the planet? I discovered a couple weeks ago that I had a very large kidney stone, after many tests and being in ER for hours it was decided I had to be transferred to another hospital.  So I get to ride in an ambulance to other hospital and diagnosis is surgery next day.  So I have been recovering ever since and am now ready to get things rolling again, ook for me to be posting more often as things finally get back to normal!

It's Saturday so that means another challenge over at Shannon's Sentiments and this week it's all about Graduation! Well I have really decided to try my hand at digital scrapbooking as I think it might be a great way to keep up with all my kiddo's activities and help me catch up (lol). I decided to try the CTMH Studio J digital program, which is pretty easy to use. This is my Lucas as he graduated Kindergarten just last week, his teacher let the kids plan their graduation celebration and they all wanted to wear their pjs.  After creating my layout, I then opened it in Paint.net and added the diploma and cap images from the Follow Your Dreams set. Come join the challenge here and check out the Fabulous creations from rest of team!

Shannon's Sentiments #27-Birthdays

It's time for another challenge at Shannon's Sentiments this week and the theme is "Birthdays."  I decided to try my hand at a digital layout this week, since I actually have pics of myself from this year. I got this cute quick page from here and I have added the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Independence Day set. I have designed my entire layout using Paint.net, super esay to use and FREE!

Shannon's Sentiments #25- Get Well

As Shannon mentioned in THIS POST, this month Michelle is sponsoring Cards for a Cause to send cards to bring smiles to the faces of those deserving at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.

In honor of this sponsorship, Shannon has graciously created a FABULOUS new set called Get Well, and not only that, she is donating $1 from each set sale to the USO. That's 25%!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for your generosity, Shannon!!!!

Our challenge this week is to make a Get Well Card, or something else that would bring a smile to someone's face who is recovering from an injury. Hopefully, you will send that card (along with some others - hint hint!!!!!) to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, but that's not required. If you DO choose to send it there, PLEASE be sure to follow the guidelines you can find HERE. We want to bring smiles, not tears.

I have created 2 very simple cards for the challenge using the sketch from Clean & Simple, however I have turned it on it's side.  I love how versatile this sketch, it's perfect for using up all those scraps of paper we have lying around. Now head over to Shannon's Sentiments to check out the rest of DT projects!

365 Cards Sketch Sunday

Shannon's Sentiments is sponsoring the challenges this week over at 365 Cards and I have created a samples for Sunday Sketch.  I have been wanting to use this Sizzix texture plate I had called "Encouraging Phrases" from the Cancer Awareness set my friend picked up for me some time ago. After I embossed my paper, I inked it a little using CTMH Hollyhock ink.  The cute little ribbon image is from the "Awareness Ribbons set" and I have colored it with Copic RV14 and then added some Ranger holographic embossing powder to make it sparkle!  Check out the challenges this week and come join the fun!

Shannon's Sentiments A-B-C Challenge

What is an A-B-C Challenge you may ask?  Well it's "Anything but a Card" so today I have created a bookmark. I made this bookmark using the banner from the "Shout Out set" and added a quote I found online, so I thought what would be more perfect for ribbon at top but the tape from "Days Gone By set."
Head on over to Shannon's Sentiments to see what other fun creations the design team created this week!

Release Day @ Shannon's Sentiments

It's New Release Day today and I hope you have enjoyed all the sneak peeks over the last 3 days.  Today we are hosting a blog hop that will be starting at 6am EST and your 1st stop is "Shannon's Sentiments" blog. If you came here from Michelle's blog you are one the right track, if not head back over to
store blog to start hopping.

For my card above I have used images from the "Follow Your Dreams Set" which is just in time for all those graduations coming up.  I chose the inspiration quote above and then paired it with the "Class of 2011" sentiment as well as the diploma image.  I have used the sketch from 4 Crafty Chicks this week as well.  Don't you love that Tiger paper? I picked it up at Archiver's a couple years ago because it just so happens our school uses the MU Tiger.
For this card I have used two images "Floral Frame" and have added a sentiment from the
"Mother's Day"add-on set. I have paper pieced my image and then added some sparkle using my Spica pens.

I hope you will join us tonight for a chat at our CDAC group page at 8pm EST! Also we are having a Special Release Sale, just use sale code: AprRel20 for 20% off -- Good from the 15th thru the 22nd.

It's time for the "Shannon's Sentiments" April release preview day #2!!!

Today we're featuring the Lighthouse, Pier and Floral Frame images along with the Mother's Love Add-On set and the Father's Love Add-On set. The full sets with a blog hop will be starting at 6am EST on April 15th at the "Shannon's Sentiments" blog. We will also be hosting a chat at our CDAC group page at 8pm EST on the 15th as well.

I am having a FABULOUS time combining the new Shannon's Sentiments images, I love how they compliment each other so nicely.  Today I have used the "floral frame" image and combined it with a sentiment from the "Mother's Day add-on" set.  I have once again paper-pieced the flower image to add layers.  Now I know you cannot see it in my photo because My camera battery is dead and I cannot find where I put the charger, so I had to take this with my phone and lighting is horrible.  So you cannot see the extra detail I added using my spica pens (clear and black) to add a little sparkle to my image!

Check out what some of our other design team members have created using these images.

The one thing I love about Shannon's Sentiments is the pairing of images with a saying/sentiment, which I have once again done on my card.  First I combined 3 images to create my scene- chaise lunge with umbrella, sun, and saying using Paint.net I decided to paper piece my image, both the umbrella and cushion/pillow on chair are done this way.  I then used my sponge dauber and CTMH juniper ink to ink edges and soften the area behind the image.  Lots of layers and some more inking to make this wonderful card complete!

Check out what some of our other design team members have created using these images.

Shannon's Sentiments Challenge #21

It's challenge time again at Shannon's Sentiments and is our hostess this week Kapree and she would like us to an animal on our projects.  I just love this chick image from the Easter Time set, it is so versatile and can be used for all kinds of occasions.  I have done something a little different this week and combined 3 images together.

I started by opening my Paint.net program and inserting the pocket banner from Shout Out set, I then added the next layer which was my chicks.  I resized them and flipped the smaller one, then I added my sentiment (also from Easter Time set). Once I saved my new image together, I inserted it in to a word document and colored the image yellow.  I then changed the color to blue so I could paper piece my chicks, added a little Copic YR04 for beaks.  The paper is new stack my friend Heather got me for my birthday, she got it at Big Lots and it's from G.C.D. Studios.  Some ribbon and a little bling to finish it off!

Now head on over to the blog here to see what rest of team has done! Don't forget to sign up for our customer blog hop on the 22nd, all the details can be found here. We also have a design team call going on. You can find all the details at this post.

It's challenge time again at Shannon's Sentiments and is our hostess this week Cindy and she wouled like to an oval on out projects.  Can you find my oval (s)?  I did something a little different as I wanted to use this sentiment from the Spring Time set, so I created my little flower using ovals.  I punched ovals with my Stampin' Up punch and then folded them in half to create a half flower.  Added button for center and "ta da" we have a flower.  Now head on over to the blog here to see what rest of team has done!

Shannon's Sentimenst #19-Spring Colors

It's challenge time again at Shannon's Sentiments and Michelle is our hostess this week with a fun color challenge.  We want to see those projects using yellow, pink, & green- what a great color combo!

I have been just itching to use this cute lil' chick and sentiment from the Easter Time set and this challenge gave me the perfect opportunity.  I immediately grabbed that sparkly fluff for my lil' chick. I printed my image twice, so  I could pop up his wing for added dimension. I added some fun embossing using one of my Cuttlebug folders, papers are from 6x6 Bazzill stack I got at Archiver's, and  pearls are from $1 section at Michael's.  I inked the edges of my sentiment and embossed papers with CTMH tulip ink and then added a little ribbon bow.

I'm trying to use up all these scraps I have piling up and found the sketch at
Card Positioning Systems to whip out a quick, fun card.  Papers are My Mind's Eye which I have inked edges with CTMH Crystal Blue ink.  The sentiment and peace sign are from the March release set called Peace, Love, and Stamping over at Shannon's Sentiments. I added the peace sign to the center of the o and it with Copic BG09 and then added some Smooch to it to make it shine.  Distressed the edges of the sentiment and added a few brads to complete!

Shannon's Sentiments-Unusual Fold Challenge

I very excited as today I am hosting my 1st challenge as the March guest designer at Shannon's Sentiments and boy do I have a fun one for you!  I typically just make either regular A4 size or 6 x6 cards, however I am always intrigued by the many fancy folded cards I see. So this week I challenge you to incorporate an unusual fold on our card. Yes that's right I want you to step out the your comfort zone and try something new - make a project using a fold that is new to you or that you rarely ever use.

Last weekend I was at a scrappin' retreat with my fave local gals and we did a card swap.  My friend Darla came up with this pretty card and when I asked where she got directions she indicated she got them out of a book somewhere.  Well I LOVED the final result so I grabbed my ruler and measured everything out to be able to re-create the card for this challenge.

For my card I grabbed this CTMH paper pack called along with my coordinating inks and cardstock in Juniper, Creme Brulee, and Sorbet.  I inked all my papers using the ink that matched cardstock.  My base is 4 1/2 x 11 and is scored at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2, my layers are cut as follows:

Creme Brulee (yellow/orange) layer- 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 for left/inside panel and 4 1/4 x 5 1/4 for larger panel.

Sorbet (peachy color) layer- 2 1/4 x 4 for left/inside layer and 4 x 5 for larger panel.

Patterned paper- 2 x 3 3/4 for left panel only and 3 3/4 x 4 3/4 for larger panel.

I chose a wonderful sentiment from the Spring Time set, which you can pick up in the store for $5 and it has all these wonderful images.  I also used the flowers in the set, but only wanted to tops to add to my card. I printed the image out 3 times on Sorbet cardstock and then cut them out.  Then I inked the edges of flowers, grabbed my black Spica pen for a little sparkle, and some CTMH pearls for centers of flowers. Added a little matching Juniper ribbon after puches slots with my ribbon punch!

Head on over to Shannon's Sentiments to join the challenge and see rest of AMAZING projects from rest of team.  Also check out the Design Team call here, the store is growing and looking for more talented designers so come throw your hat in the ring!  Also Shannon's Sentiments is sponsoring the challenge over at Aly's Sunday Challenge and the theme is spring, so am entering my card there too!

I am entering this card in following challenges:
Scrap -Creations- anything goes
Sweet Stamps- spring
Aly's Sunday Challenge- spring

Life is Lived.....

I am having so much fun playing with the new releases from Shannon's Sentiments and this wonderful saying is from the Peace, Love, and Stamping set. I decided to use the sketch over at The Pixie Cottage and the color challenge over at The Color Dare- Basic Grey, Cherry Cobbler, and Marina Mist.  Well since I don't have those colors, I raided my paper stash to come up with something close.  The polka dotted paper is from CTMH jingle paper pack, the red strip I embossed is CTMH tulip, and the pearls are also CTMH.  I am loving my new die from Die-Namics that makes this cute lil' flowers so you will probably be seeing lots of these!
