Junkers Unite with a Junky Memo Station, a Pin Board and a Linky Party!

Chipping with Charm: Kraut cutter turned turned memo station...http://www.chippingwithcharm.blogspot.com/

I am so very excited about all the things I get to share with you today!!
Chipping with Charm Blog...Laurel

If you are new here, my name is Laurel and I am a collector, decorator and "re-purposer".  As my profile says...I am on a mission to create a home that's "Chipping with Charm".

If you'd like to follow along with my "quirky" junk inspired ideas...you can find me here at Chipping with Charm as well as...

A while back Donna of Funky Junk Interiors gathered a group of some of my favorite "junkers" to pin to a new board she started called "Junkers United".  Today we wanted to introduce you to that amazing collection of our favorite junk ideas...and to do that we each came up with a new project to share with you to "kick" it off in Junk Style :)

So here's what I came up with...

A primitive kraut cutter turned junky memo station.

Did you recognize this?  I believe that box in the middle would hold the cabbage in place and the person would slide it side to side to slice it for kraut.  To me it looked like the perfect little shelf for a funky "Memo Station".

First, we screwed on this perfectly crusty hinge to hold the shelf in place.

Nice little spot for a few "necessities".

The background/blade is magnetic...the perfect spot to hold messages, photos...whatever.

Next we added some chippy little hardware "accessories".  Some functional...

...and some just for fun.

(That little magnet is a round piece of wood painted with chalkboard paint.  I used a chalk pen and little stamps to add the word...which could easily be changed based on "function".  In this case it holds a picture of my dad and most of his family...one baby brother yet to come.  My dad is the cutie on the far left.)

If you knew where this was going to "live" you could probably screw it right to your wall.  But since I like to move things around A LOT...we added this hinge to the back for hanging.

Works great!

So there it is living its "new life" at my house.  I just love the rustic wood with the aged metal.  It makes me HAPPY :)

Vintage Sprinkler Centerpiece...having fun with Fall...

A sprinkler centerpiece for fall...

I figure it's OK if it has apples and leaves...

...and a "fall-ish" word.

They all need water to grow....right?

This is the centerpiece right now on my kitchen table.  It stays there a total of about 15 minutes each day...busy spot.
I'll enjoy it when I can :)

A Couple More Drawer Shelves...and a "coffee station" gone crazy!!

It all started with a couple more drawer shelves...

...and turned into a coffee station gone CRAZY :)

I had my husband help me hang and couple more shelves today...

It started innocently enough...

A couple of drawers on the wall...add a metal pan and a cabbage slicer for photos.

Throw in a bottomless crate, a couple of clocks and some blue bottles and pitchers.
But it still needed "something"...

...enter a couple of license plates and a cool yardstick...MILK, CREAM, EGGS...perfect :)

And then the thought..."I've always wanted a "Coffee Station".

And then of course those little built in shelves needed a "tweaking" to coordinate.

Coffee time?

Or are you a "tea person"?

Remember my little K-cup stand?

Not coffee time?  Just close it up...

Does that ever happen to you??  "Snowball effect"?  I'm kinda "famous" for it at my house.  My husband's exact words were "Whoa, that's a lot".  He'll get used to it...and then I'll start "tweaking" again!!

Kitchen Drawer to Chalkboard Shelf...

This old drawer used to be a "junk drawer" in our kitchen...gathering paper clips and random things that didn't have a home.  Then when we did our little kitchen cupboard re-do...
10+ years ago now...I'm now "patiently" waiting for re-do #2!) ....it lost it's spot.  So then it gathered dust in our garage instead.

I recently "rescued" it from the garage...added a shelf...

...and some chalkboard paint.

Now it's moved up from storing hidden junk like rubber bands and pens without lids...to pretty "junk".  Like my lovely aqua SCRAPER PHOTO HOLDER.  Which by the way got a LOT of "love" on my Chipping with Charm FACEBOOK page.  Glad to hear I'm not the only one who can appreciate a pretty old tool :)

The wood on the bottom of the drawer was pretty rough.  I just used glue dots to attach a couple of book pages from an old cook book.  I didn't want them to be glued on permanently in case it switches rooms.  Things tend to move around here quite a bit.

And did you notice my chippy old paper towel holder?
Works perfect for holding rolls of "art" paper too.

Which is slick because my little artists keep their supplies right here in these old dairy boxes.

And I can't let you go with out telling you that these little cuties belonged to my grandmother.  She had a salt and pepper collection.  They make me smile...how about you?

Thanks for stopping!
