Put Your Feet Up..."cheater" wine crate ottoman...

I bought this old wine crate at an occasional sale a couple of months ago.

No real plans, but I liked the mix of black and red topography.

Then, while sorting through my "To Paint" pile in my garage, I came across some of these wood candle holders...and I realized that upside down, they looked like short "spindle-y" legs.  I just happened to have 4 of them...imagine that?  So I painted them up...and screwed them on.

At first I just added a burlap tree bag...thinking I'd go for that "messy"look...

...but it wasn't quite right.

So I grabbed an empty bin from the basement...and "tossed" a pillow into the burlap bag...

...and tucked it in around the bin.

Much better :)
I know this kind of a "cheater" ottoman...but I like it because then when I get tired of it, I can use it for something else.  Fun for books, plants whatever...
What would you use it for?

"Angelic" Makeover...

So you might remember these...

The candle stick finials I made a while back...you can see that post HERE.

I just thought they were pretty little "set abouts"...and after carting them to 2 stores and a couple of shows...and selling one or two...I decided maybe they needed a new life, a change, a fresh start...been there :)

I roughly cut the wings out of cardboard...using my hands as a template...just like I did my Springy Angels.

Remember these?  If not...see more HERE.

I adjusted the pattern a little bit for the smaller ones.  If my kiddos would have been home I would have used their little hands...next time :)

Wrapped the base in twine...and added a little vintage sparkle.

The wings are just clipped on with little mini clothes pins in the back...simple and sweet I think.

And now these little "lovelies" are going to head out to one more show...

Wish them luck :)
