LOOPY

I love the look of a bare wooden chair but aesthetics aside, they can be pretty uncomfy.
I made the washed out pastel seat cushion last year, and yesterday I finished the cranberry one to switch out for fall.

PINK & GREEN

Creatures of Comfort tank / handmade skirt and tote bag / Ariana Bohling sandals

Funny color scheme in my summer sublet. Check out my CVS plastic "laundry" bag. I'm all about those temporary housing solutions.

BOXY

NARS HEAT WAVE / HANDMADE TOP / BDG JEANS

Year old project ideas finally seen through. This one is done in boiled wool and a bit too heavy, but I plan of making a variation on this theme in shirting material for summer.

PLAIN WEAVE

It seems as though weaving has become the blogger hobby du jour and I'm the latest to hop on the bandwagon. This towel was my first project after a sample towel and although it's almost completely done in plain weave, I keep peering at it up close to marvel at the fact that I made fabric with thread. Kind of a similar (but distinct) feeling to knitting.

UNFINISHED

Stayed home with the flu for a couple days last week but I can only handle laying about and perusing the Netflix catalog for so long before I get antsy, so I dug this fabric out of a box and got to sewing. I left the edges unfinished mostly out of laziness, but I'm enjoying raw hems more and more as a deliberate design choice.

BASIC BLACK

A few days ago, I quickly put together a basic tote bag to refresh my sewing skills for a couple sewing projects I've been meaning to get to (for like, a year). I think I got the proportions about right, but it could still use a little tweaking. Even so, I'm always surprised and thrilled by the high of filling a functional void by making something useable for myself. Joy in the small things. And of course, all done with a little help from resident napping dog, Toby.

IN PROGRESS

Even though I'm taking a relatively manageable course load this term and finals week is turning out to be completely harmless, it's still difficult to remain actively creative when most of your time is tied up in reading articles, doing fieldwork and learning a new language. As much as I love school, I miss making things, so recently I picked up an old knitting project just to keep from feeling creatively stagnant. I think I started this scarf back in March, but had only made a couple inches worth of progress. The best thing about knitting is that I can put a project down and pick it up again whenever my hands get antsy.
