Whimsical Wednesdays Color Challenge

Morning everyone!
It is time again for another Whimsical Wednesdays Challenge!
This weeks challenge is a Color Challenge!

Your inspiration for this challenge is to use the colors Red and Yellow and you can choose another color or colors from the photo.

Isn't this such a fabulous craft room? Wish mine looked like this :)

So for my project I made a "sweet" card
My card is a standard A2 size and I used paper from Jillibean Soup~Chilled Strawberry Soup Collection in Whipped Cream.
I just LOVE this paper and the fun polka dots.

My cherries were cut at 4" using the Preserves Cartridge. There are 2 different red papers for the cherries and 2 different green papers for the stems/leaves. Both were scrap from my stash.

The sentiment is from Emma's My Creative Time ~~This and That~~ stamp set. This is such a great stamp set with great everyday sentiments.

Not too long ago I watched a video on how to make your own skittles. I gave it a go and made a bunch in different colors using Tim Holtz alchol ink.
I used some watermelon ones for the embellishments on this card.
I also used my favorite white gel pen for some added details on the cherries.

Hope my card, the DT's projects and this great craft room photo gives you lots of inspiration to join into this weeks challenge. Remember you have 2 weeks to link up and join in on the fun!

Make sure you check out the Whimsical Wednesday Challenge Blog for all the other great ideas!

Have a GREAT day and happy craftin' :)

~~" Enjoy the Simple Things in Life"~~

Go Morning Everyone!
I want to say thanks to everyone so far who has entered my 300 Follower Giveaway. If you haven't yet you have until next Friday 6/17/11 to enter.
~~IF~~ I get 30 more followers~hit 350 I will add to this giveaway. Yummy!!

So before I show you my card for today's post I want to share some GREAT news!
Yesterday my son's baseball team~The Nationals had a game. They play so well together but have only won 1 game and have lost the other 4. The kids are so fine with not winning (even though they want to) what makes it great is they are such a great bunch of kids. Very encouraging and always complementing each other on a job well done.
So last night before the game my son tells me he is going to hit the ball (they use a machine and it is his first year on the machine) and catch the ball in outfield.
I said great..go for it!
Well wouldn't you know he did hit the ball...a GREAT hit non the less. But wait it gets better!
He is playing 2nd base and wouldn't you know a fly ball comes his way....the bases are loaded and the other team has 2 outs. They are also up by a run. We all watch the ball as my son not only catches it...tags the runner coming to second with the ball and tags the base getting the player on second going to third out also.
~~A TRIPLE PLAY~~
We are all screaming...I have tears in my eyes..it was the most exciting minute of baseball their team has had.
To make it even better the coach comes running out, picks him up and twirls him around... all the while his entire team circles him and high fives him.
It was truly an amazing moment for him and such a proud moment for us!
And yes they ended up winning 9-4 :)

More good news....my Memorial Day card I made for the Kraft Journal was chosen as a top 3 challenge winner...Woo Hoo!!

Ok so now onto my card for today.
I made this card for the Papercraft Star Challenge #49- Sketch

I used kraft cardstock for the base and Jillibean Soup Pattern Paper. The Flowers are from the Paisly Cartridge and they are cut at 2.5"
The sentiment is from My Creative Time~This & That set.
I used my white gel pen for some details around the flower petals
Memento ink in rich cocoa for the sentiment and Tim Holtz distress ink in peeled paint for some sponging around the pattern paper and flower petals
Also added are some pop dots to the sentiment to give it some wave.

I hope you like my card!
Thanks for stopping by and see you all later!

A "Sweet" Birthday Card

My wonderful husband bought me some copics for Mother's Day. You ask how he knew what colors to pick..well he took a picture of the copic color chart I have hanging above my workspace and took the picture into the Stamp store to have the ladies there help him choose some colors.
He did a GREAT job picking out colors but a few I already had that you really couldn't see on the picture. I took the markers I had doubles of a went to exchange them for colors I didn't have.
While I was at the store I found this super cute strawberry stamp from Unity Stamps that matched the Jillibean Soup paper from the Chilled Strawberry Soup collection. This paper is AWESOME! It cuts nice, is thick and has beautiful patterns. I knew exactly what I was going to make when I saw it.
So this is the card I made for a friend and fellow PTO member who celebrated her birthday yesterday. She also makes the most delicious strawberry jam that we all wait for :). My son always asks when we can go visit the jam lady who sets up shop in the summertime at our local farmers market. Her jam is the only one my son and husband prefer. So Melissa...Happy Birthday and I know I told you tonight but we cant wait for your jam!
The base is Kraft card stock cut using George and Basic Shapes welded together at 4.75". The inside layer is cut from the same cartridge at 4.5". The paper is Fresh Lime Juice. (cute names right..love it)
The strawberries are stamped on red card stock and green card stock and paper pieced. Another fun technique! I added stitch lines and strawberry seeds using my white gel pen. The sentiment came with the strawberry stamp. Such a cute saying!
Hope you like my card as much as I do. Have a great night and see you all tomorrow!
