A Little Shab & a Little Chic by Chrissy Mac

3:30 AM 0 Comments

Hello beautiful people!  Chrissy Mac here with a "Well Wishes" custom card in a style I have dubbed "A Little Shabby and a Little Chic."  This one is full of yummy textures with knitted lace, corrugated paper, dyed twine and regular card stock.

I used Cheery Lynn Design's french flair which is such a great building shape as it has a nice outside shape that is decorative, but clean at the same time.  I wanted to play with some lace edging.  I staged it under my already cut circles and I knew instantly that I had to use it.  This drove some later design decisions such as using the corrugated paper (an unlikely candidate normally) for building a dimensional flower and creating a flower center through repeatedly knotting the purple twine.

Another technique I used to help give it that shabby chic vintage like styling is using a die cut using the Cheery Lynn Square Deutschland Doily and carefully flipped it and removed only some of the outer most cutouts so it had a rougher more imperfect look when layered over the grey french flair.  Perhaps others will like the end result.  I almost want to just frame it as it is so layered and has a sturdier look than the average card, but someone should receive these well wishes!

Beautiful and Sweet Girl 8x8 Layout by Amy Voorthuis

3:00 AM 5 Comments
Good morning lovelies.
Today I am back again with another 8x8 layout I made using a bunch of my favorite dies. Yeah I am back making layouts again ;-) Oh and I used the uber pretty "Gilded Lily' collection by Graphic 45.  This collection makes me think of my grandmother every time, because she was such a fan of Princess Sisi and since I can remember she was watching those movies over and over again. I found a picture of such a pretty girl on Pinterest that I had to use and it's a perfect combination with that collection.

Beautiful and Sweet Girl:
The flowers were cut out multiple times.  Then I whetted them with a little water and squeezed them to give them a wrinkly look {kind of shabby chic}. For the center of my bigger flowers I used some Graphic 45 brads. Also on the upper right flower cluster I used a metal key of that same manufacturer and also one of the CABD-90 - Keys

To make the words pop a little more on my background, I used some green card stock! I cut out the words to later on cut them out again with the patterned paper. Then I placed them on top of each other slightly moved about two millimeters.

Cheery Lynn Designs dies used:

This is one of the layouts I will use to enter the Graphic 45 Design Team Call this year,
wish me luck!
