Shadow Shot + House Update + Exhibition Excitement

While this shadow shot may not be a spectacular photo, it marks a very exciting moment.  My Curly Guy and I are standing together for the very first time, on the floor of our new home!

We have waited so long to see what it would look like up high in the trees where our home will be nestled.  It is spectacular!  We can’t wait to live here.

I am so keen to get around and check out some shadow shots… It has been so long since I played along…  I have been immersed in preparations for my exhibition.  It opened on Friday night and I had such a fabulous opening night.

I also had an online opening night so if you want to pop by and check out the show, just click here. There is still time for you to enter the “lucky door prize” on my Online Opening Night post, if you hurry, it will be drawn on Monday.

A star shaped, flower shadow, on our front path….

One of my Little Guy’s favourite songs is “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, so he was quite chuffed when we spotted this star shaped shadow on our path.  Want to see what the other shadow chasers are up to this week?  Then just pop on over to Hey Harriet for a shadowy journey around the world.

I have created the next generation of shadow hunter…

My Little Guy is still pretty intrigued by his newly discovered shadow, especially when it turns up in places like this!  He has been pointing out his shadow when we are out and about and asking me where his shadow’s Mum is – so darn cute!

Pop by Hey Harriet,to see what the other shadow chasers have captured this week. Something tells me you will be hard pressed to find a shadow shot as adorable as my Little Guy’s shadow though!!

Psssttt… Did you catch my fabulous news? I am still grinning like an idiot! Thank you very much if you are one of the many who had you fingers crossed for me.  With my hard work and your positive energy I have achieved my goal. What an exciting ride I am in for over the next few weeks!

Shadowy Ducks

Shadowy ducks – with two different looks courtesy of Picnik. Have you tried Picnik for photo editing? I love it and it’s a very rare photo that makes it to my blog without going via Picnik. Have a play some time, it’s fabulous and it’s free!
Another fabulous, free, fun, way to spend some time is shadow hunting. Check out what the fellow shadow chasers have caught this week over at Hey Harriet.

Radiant Red Shadows

A shaft of early morning sun captured my Little Guy’s shadow on the red couch. It offered the opportunity for me to take some great shadow shots and for a lesson about shadows with a fascinated little boy.
The light was beautiful, amazing, I haven’t played with these shots to make them glow like that, the only editing I have done is a little tiny bit of cropping and the rounded borders.
I have been so keen for Shadow Shot Sunday to come around this week; I have been itching to share these! I wonder what the other shadow chasers have found this week. If you’re curious, pop over to Hey Harriet, Tracy is a wonderful hostess; she would be thrilled to have you.

Country graveyard shadows….

I like to wander and explore in old country graveyards, on a recent visit I realised it was good shadow hunting territory…... William & Wilhemina Schulze rest together here, sharing shadows as the sun passes overhead.

To find out what the other shadow hunters have been up to this week head on over to Hey Harriet.

A shadow to celebrate!

I’ve been absent for Shadow Shot Sunday for a few weeks. Preparing my Expression of Interest has preoccupied me and no lovely shadows had caught my eye.  Since handing in my submission on Friday I have been spying shadows everywhere again! I even have a few up my sleeve in case of another shadowy dry spell.
This lovely shadow appeared on Friday evening, after a few glasses of red, to celebrate the handing in of my Expression of Interest,.  The empty bottle cast this beautiful shadow most of the way across the table.

To spy what else has been captured this week, by shadow chasers from across the globe, head on over the Hey Harriet.

Early Morning Shadow….

Not the fresh, beautiful, early morning shadow you might expect…. Our friend’s band played last weekend and I captured this shadow on the wall of the pub in the wee hours. Luckily after many years of taking their gig photos I can hold the camera still after a few drinks!!

This weekend is a lot quieter around these parts; I hope you are enjoying a peaceful, rejuvenating weekend. I’m off to catch up with the other shadow chasers, pop over to Tracey’s with me for a bit of shadow gazing.

Repetitive Shadows

I love the rhythm in the shadows from the bollards and the colour in the lens flare. I know it wouldn’t normally be considered a very photogenic subject, but I thought it would be appreciated by my fellow shadow chasers!

Pssst… did you hear I am celebrating a blogging milestone with a giveaway? I love you to pop over and throw your name in the hat.

Once you have your name in the draw, why not make a cuppa and check out some more shadows? There are heaps on offer at Tracey’s today.

S is for stars, swirls, shadows and Sunday.

Won’t you join me for a coffee and some shadows on this fine Shadow Shot Sunday?
I was thrilled to see the reflection of the swirls and stars on my coffee mug breaking up this shadow… oh the small things that bring delight to a shadow chasers day!

To check up what the rest of the shadow chasers have captured this week head on over to Tracy’s.

I hope you are having a fabulous weekend.

Painting Shadows

My shadow shot this week appeared during a painting session on Tuesday. I am so happy with the painting, I do hope you can spare a moment to pop over and see it.

Once again I must mention how grateful I am to Tracey for hosting Shadow Shot Sunday. It really has made me look more closely at every moment and take in beauty that I may have missed.

If you’re not already a shadow hunter, you really should pop over and play along, it lots of fun and a little bit addictive.

Shadowy self portrait with our puppy….

Our not quite two year old Akita pup joined us on our recent camping trip. He loved exploring around the creek and lazing by the fire. I snapped our shadows on the rocky creek bank as we wandered and investigated.

Check out what the other shadow chasers have been snapping for Shadow Shot Sunday over at Hey Harriet’s….

Strange Shadow....

My shadow today is lurking inside this seed pod. With the sunlight shining right through its transparent form, the shadow is created where the sun has shone on the unseen other side and is cast within the quirky pod.

Pop on over to Hey Harriet’s to see where everyone else has found shadows this week.

Sketchy Shadows…

While scribbling in my sketch book of nothing in the afternoon sun, this striking shadow presented itself on a crisp white page.
I was taken by the beauty and the rhythm and had to take a break form sketching to capture my shadow shot for the week.
It’s time to chase shadows around the globe again with the help of Hey Harriet’s Shadow Shot Sunday.  Pop over and take a look around, perhaps even join in. But be warned chasing shadows is addictive and will change the way you look at the world….

A Sheepish Shadow Shot Sunday……

Standing guard over the entrance to The Witches Chase these quirky sheep sculptures are photographed by the majority of people who walk in. If you’re ever in Mt Tamborine you really must drop in and visit them and while you are there pop in and sample the delicious cheese and beer made on the premises and enjoy a meal in the restaurant. You won’t be disappointed.
Share in the Shadow Shot Sunday fun over at Hey Harriet’s; it’s so much fun and more than a little addictive to chase shadows.

I am really enjoying playing along on Shadow Shot Sunday; it’s making me look around with fresh eyes. Pop over and check some more shadows, but beware it is a bit addictive!

Grasshoppers in the Garden on Shadow Shot Sunday

Not my garden, thank goodness! I snapped these little guys in a friend’s garden during the week.
I have a new custom made camera bag; it is making it so much easier to take my DSLR everywhere, so I am getting lots of great shots that I would have missed before. You really must check out this bag it is sensational and the artisan who made it is happy to take orders.

There are lots of great shadow shots to check out over at Hey Harriet’s.
