May

Just as I begin to wonder if the seasons will change, all of a sudden the days are shortening, the afternoons are decidedly chilly and I'm shutting up the house early to trap the warmth and light the fire. The trees have turned golden yellow and are starting to drop their leaves, a little later than last year but lovely none the less. May is a beautiful month, and has always been one of my favourites - up north it was a gorgeous mild month of perfect weather, and here it signals the final month of Autumn before winter truly arrives. L M Montgomery might have been glad to live in a world where there are Octobers, but I will always be glad of May and June.

I've been wearing my handknits more and more, sometimes layering them together. Have you heard of "Me Made May?". (If not, there's some info here). It's not something I've participated in, and I'm not this year, but I can't help but think about it whenever I have donned something I've made this month. There's something immensely satisfying about wearing 'me made', don't you think?  A new favourite of mine is my Doocot jumper, it's so perfect in so many ways, I can see it getting a lot of wear over the coming months.
I'd normally be knitting another garment by now, but instead, I've got a big, cosy shawl on my needles. It's really nice to have something large on your knitting needles at this time of year, it acts as a bit of a blanket while you work.
I did have the crazy idea that I might be able to get another jumper knitted before Knitfest, but knowing what I've got coming up in the next 7 weeks before Knitfest, I know that's absolutely not going to happen.
My shop has been busy behind the scenes lately as I work on new things, including organising more knitting classes. I was feeling like the time to Knitfest was ages away, but after consulting a calendar was shocked at just how close it is! There is now a countdown calendar on the wall to remind me to stay on track, and tomorrow it will tick over to 7 weeks! I can hardly wait, I had so much fun last year and hope this year will be just as fun. As well as having a stall, I'm also teaching a workshop at Knitfest this year which I'm very excited about!

What's been happening in your world lately?
Are you participating in Me Made May?

Happy new week!

    1. Hi Mary,
It's a pattern I'm working on, so it hasn't been released yet. Hoping to have it out sometime this month :-)
And the yarn is Nettle Sock yarn https://saylittlehenshop.com/collections/4ply-fingering/products/nettle-sock-yarn-4ply
