Timeless Flutterbies

I’m tellin’ ya’ right up front.  I almost forgot to finish my Flutterby Wednesday card.  Shame on me!!!  I painted the image on Sunday!  If you remember, I had a migraine on Sunday and the best thing to deal with them is to watercolor something.  I pulled out this stamp and then the light bulbs lit!  10-3-31 timeless flutterbies This image is perfect for the FBW’s blue and green challenge!  Yay!!!  But then I didn’t remember to put the card together until about 1:00 am today.  Ya Wednesday!  So I finished what I was doing and then put this card together.  Now that I’ve taken the photos, weeded through them to find the best one and compiled this post, it’s after 3:00 am.

What’s my point, you ask?  You ain’t gettin’ any details ‘till tomorrow!!!

Anyway, the challenge at FBW is to use the colors blue, green and white on your creation, as well as a butterfly, fairy or angel.  That’s it, pretty easy so there’s no reason not to play along.  Unless you don’t have blue and green paper, pencils, markers, etc.  But I betcha’ do!!!

Now head on over to the Flutterby Wednesday blog and see what our lovely guest designers came up with and then click on the links in the right sidebar  to see what all the other lovely Flutterbiers made!  They are all so wonderfully talented so you won’t want to miss out on a post.  Leave ‘em some love while your there, ‘kay?

I think I channeled my inner hillbilly tonight so I’m goin’ to bed and I hope she’s gone by tomorrow.  I have a couple cards that I haven’t gotten around to posting yet so, hopefully I’ll get to those tomorrow.

See ya’ later, alligator!!!  After awhile crocodile!

Blessings,

Christine

Dutch Tulips

2nd Post for today.

Please scroll down to see the Squigglefly Challenge.

The moment I saw this stamp plate in the Artistic Outpost email newsletter, I went to their store and ordered it.  I’m in love with every image on the Lovely Day plate.  You’ll be seeing more in the not to distant future!!!  Dutch Tulips You must agree!  Isn’t this image gorgeous!!!  I can’t wait to get some more of the images inked up!

It was a nice and quiet weekend at my house.  I had a major migraine on Saturday.  I took pain pills and went to bed with a heating pad wrapped around my head.  That’s the only thing that would make it feel better.  I think it’s gone now!  Yay!!!  The best thing for me to do when I have a headache is to watercolor a beautiful stamped image!  Once I got this one colored, I just had to put it into a card!

FantabulousCricutAd001 I don’t have a Fantabulous Cricut project for you today.  With the headache, I couldn’t think about the sizes and where to put all the papers.  I designed a card in Design Studio using different shapes, sizes and paper all on one cutting mat.  I’ll try to get that done tomorrow and post it then.  It looks good from the design standpoint.  I sure hope it translates well to paper!!!

The Fantabulous Cricut challenge this week is “Bling it On.”  Use some sort of bling on your project along with at least one Cricut cut.  Be sure to go to the Fantabulous Cricut blog to check out all of the other creations by the rest of the lovely DT.

Blessings,

Christine

I’m sorry I haven’t been around this week.  My car is fine!  When the tow truck driver came by, he jump started it so it was only the battery!!!  Yay!!!  Plus, insurance pays for that!

Also, I’ve been having some migraines (so much for the treatment I had) and Friday and Saturday it was pretty bad so I just wasn’t on the computer much.  As a matter of fact, I’m not staying on long today.

Now on to the battle.  FriendlyFarmers_Week1The card that our team, Friendship Farmers, submitted for the contest is by 1LuvnMama.  It was a retro color challenge this week.  Would you all please take a minute, and go over and comment on this card.  You can find it right here or just click on the photo and you will be transported their!!!  If you are not a member of the Greeting Farm galleria, you can join now.

So head on over and leave a comment on our card!  While you’re there, you can vote for two other cards that you like.  If we get enough votes, we will move on to next weeks round.  The prize is awesome!!!

Candy Alert:  If you come back here and leave a comment that you voted, I will enter you in a giveaway for a Greeting Farm stamp of your choice.  No, I’m not above bribery!!!  Each week that you vote will get you one more entry and I will pick a winner after the contest closes and we win!!!  Okay, if per chance we don’t win, I’ll still pick a winner.  Remember you have to vote on the galleria and then come back here and tell me that you voted.

Now I’m beggin’.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, go vote for our card!!!

Blessings,

Christine

P.S.  I made a card as well which I will be sharing later.

Arghhh! Car Problems

100_2659 I love my truck, but if there is one thing I hate is car problems!  I feel so helpless.  When something breaks in my house, I know a  little bit about things and can tell if someone is taking me to the cleaners.

But with cars, I know NOTHING!!!  I feel vulnerable and helpless.  My truck will not start.  My neighbor thinks it might be the starter.  I’m hoping it’s just the battery.  But I have a secret weapon this time.  Well not secret so much but my neighbor used to work at an auto repair shop.  He gave me their card and hopefully, since I know him, they’ll do a good job at a reasonable price for me.

Once again, arghhh!!!  Thanks for listening; I really needed to vent.

Blessings,

Christine

PS  I won’t be posting much this week.  I’m heading to Utah next week and I need to get some DT work done and schedule posts.  If I get done with my DT projects, there are a couple of things that I really want to make.  I sure hope I have time!!!

Buttoned Up Tilda

Do you know what today is?  Why it’s Flutter By Wednesday!!!  Yay, we love Flutter By Wednesday!  And here is what I have for you.

10-03-24 button up tilda I love this little Tilda in her sun hat and top.  Isn’t she just adorable in her sneakers?  There are a couple of wings back there but you can’t see them very well in the photo.

The challenge this week is open.  Just be sure to include a butterfly, fairy or angel on your project.  If you'd like to play along with Flutterby Wednesday, go check out all of the other lovely DT blogs by clicking on their links on the right sidebar and then go to the Flutter By Wednesday challenge blog to link up your card.  While you’re there, be sure to check out the lovely GDT creations.

I’m All Shabby and Pink

I had some fun today playing with doilies.  No, I wasn’t crocheting; I was stamping!!!shabby doilies both See what I mean!!!  The challenge at Moxie Fab World this month is to make a creation with lace or doilies as the focus.  Why did I make two you ask.shabby doilies yellow?

I started off stamping the beautiful Hero Arts doily on Papertrey Ink Sweet Blush paper with Versa Mark ink and embossing with iridescent powder.  It wasn’t what I really wanted (more on that later) so after cutting it out and distressing the edges, I sat it aside.  After completing the pink and green card, I decided to go ahead and make a 2fer but this time yellow.

6a00d83451de2169e201310faa6dac970c

When I saw Melissa Phillip’s inspiration photo, I new that I wanted to make a card using this inspiration photo for the Moxi Fab World challenge.  See the doily up there under the pen and paper.  I’m sure I’ll be using this photo for inspiration again since this is my favorite color combo!!!

shabby doilies green Since I was going for the shabby style, I wanted to emboss and sand some Core’dinations cardstock.  That’s why I changed my mind in using the Papertrey cardstock.  It gave a much softer design but other than that, they turned out pretty much the same!!!  I like the comparison though.

That’s it for tonight.  See ya’ later alligator!!!

Christine

Fantabulously Late

For some reason, I cannot remember to post for my Monday projects!  I have already set windows calendar to remind me to schedule a post on Sundays.  That said, it’s a Fantabulous Monday!!!

10-03-21The challenge this week at Fantabulous Cricut is to create an Easter project in pastel colors.  I used Design Studio to weld mirror images of the blackout water can from the Stretch Your Imagination cart to make a card base.  I then cut the regular water can in DP.  Cute card, huh.  Oh, I cut the little birdie of the top.  I think this is one of my favorite techniques using Design Studio.  You can make a card out of any cut using DS.

I tied a little corsage at the top – Isn’t that cute?

I’ll make this quick because I just got up.  I know, I know – Why so late?  Well, I didn’t go to sleep until 4:00 am.

Talk to you later!!!

Christine

Willow’s Birds

Katharina at Whiff of Joy is having a guest designer and I just thought, what the heck.  You won’t get it if you don’t try.  And I’ll be trying and trying and trying again if i have to.  I love the Whiff of Joy images and would love to have the chance to be her guest designer for a month or two!!!

willows birds She issued a challenge for her guest designer call.  It’s to use one cardstock, 2 design papers, 1 ribbon and 1 button.  Easy peasy for me!!!

I used one of my favorite new mediums, Twinkling H2os.  I got them while I was in Utah last time and now I just need some more colors!!!  They were on clearance so I sure hope they still have some!

My sister and I spent some more time in the yard today!  We now have almost everything ready for spring.  I’m going to keep spraying the little weeds that come out so that when I’m ready to plant, everything will be pretty and clean!!!  I can’t wait to start eating fresh tomatoes, lettuce, eggplant and peppers.  That’s about all I plant; I don’t have much space.  I do have some strawberries as well and the plants really multiplied this year.  Maybe I’ll even have enough strawberries to make myself a strawberry shortcake or two!!!

That’s it for now!  I hope you have a great Sunday.  The weather has been so beautiful here.  I hope yours is as well!

I {Heart} Inky Fingers

Remember yesterday when I told you about my migraine? Remember that I said that I designed a card while I rested in my dark bedroom?

inky cowboy

I LOVE how it turned out. Finally, something good to come out of a migraine!!!

I first saw this image from Artistic Outpost last summer and immediately went to their website and bought it. But it sat there laughing at me and saying “You can’t handle me,” ever since. Now, I’m just not sure why it intimidated me so much. I love it!!! It really reminds me of being part of the Old Time Fiddlers. I even play the mandolin which is the instrument this cowboy is holding. The quotation is the chorus of “I See the Light” by Hank Williams.

I watercolored the image and then used lots of distress inks and Walnut Ink spray to get it to just the right distressed look. Hence, the inky fingers!!! There’s not a surface on this card that doesn’t have Distress Ink and/or Walnut Ink on it, including the buttons. I also used the embossing powder cracked glass technique on the image.

I’ve been on quite the creative whim this week. I already have another image stamped and ready to color so I gotta’ go!!! I’m doing dinner and a movie with my sis tomorrow night so I might not be back with my next card ‘til later. Night all!

Blessings,

Christine

Squigglefly’s Bicycle

I’ll tell you what!  Things are just a hopin’ over at Squigglefly.  Not only are we having a mini release this weekend to introduce a new artist, but we are introducing a whole new concept in card making next weekend.  I haven’t seen anything from this release yet but love, love, love the idea behind it.  You’ll be able to see some sneek peeks at some of the DT blogs next week.  Diane's bicycle I have an image to showcase today drawn by the new artist, Diane Carubia.  I love any image with a bicycle in it and this one is no exception.  Isn’t she the cutest carrying her doggy on a bicycle ride to get some flowers for her mother.  This image would be so cute for a Mother’s Day card!  This and other images by Diane will be in the Squigglefly shop on Saturday!!!

Just a quick budget tip.  This daffodil is part of a floral stem.  I disassembled it and put it back together with glue dots and the pearl in the middle.  The stem had a couple of dozen of these little daffodils for just a couple of bucks.  And I think it’s really cute!!!

Warning-grouchy woman ahead!!!  Remember how I told you about the treatment for my migraines.  Well, I’m thinking it didn’t work.  I had one heck of a headache today.  My sis came over to pick out a couple of cards she needed and it really helped to have someone to chat with though.  Sometimes the headache will subside a little if I can just divert the attention away.  It started full force again after she lef t so I laid down and while I was laying there, I designed a card and then got up and started it.  Thankfully, I’m feeling a little better now.  It always helps my headaches to do a little water coloring.

That’s it for tonight.  See ya’ tomorrow!!!

Christine

Penelope’s Flutterbies

2259792351_b4847b7a56 AN IRISH BLESSING

"May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun.
And find your shoulder to light on.
To bring you luck, happiness and riches.
Today, tomorrow and beyond."

How about that to start out a beautiful St. Patrick’s Flutterby Wednesday? This is my favorite butterfly quote. I’m working on a Modge Podge butterfly plaque with this blessing on it. It will hang right outside my front door.

Now, on to Flutterby Wednesday! 10-03-17 pennelope's flutterbies Our challenge this week is to make a St. Patrick’s themed project or to use green as the main color on your project. Also, of course, you must use a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation!

Paper Makeup Stamps is our sponsor this week and they provided each of us with a digi stamp for our creation today. I do have the shamrock digi from PMS but I chose to use Penelope. The photo didn’t come out very well. The colors are so washed out. IRL, the deep colors in the background bring out the soft colors on the image but not so much in the photo. This is also the first time I have ever attempted to color black hair and I think it turned out well. I started slowly with light grey and built up to a color I liked.

The sentiment is good luck in Chinese (according to the website where I got it anyway). I thought that was appropriate for a card made for St. Patrick’s Day. I don’t normally make cards for the odd holidays so I didn’t want to go strictly St. Paddy’s.

If you'd like to play along with Flutterby Wednesday, go check out all of the other lovely DT blogs by clicking on their links on the right sidebar and then go to the Flutter By Wednesday challenge blog to link up your card. While you’re there, be sure to check out the lovely GDT creations.

I have another card to finish up first thing tomorrow featuring a new artist at Squigglefly. I can’t wait to show you! Also, the Squigglefly Challenge blog reached 225 followers so all Squigglefly images are 25% off until April 1. If you’ve had your eyes on some, go get ‘em now!!! They really do have some great images and last weekend’s release was a don’t miss!

Lilacs and Lemons at Papertake Weekly

It’s my last week as guest designer for Papertake Weekly.  It’s been great this past four weeks and what a great pleasure to work with these ladies.  bird song willow The challenge this week is to use lilac and lemon on your creation.

When I first thought of this color combination I didn’t really know what I would do with it.  So I pulled out some lemon tart and lavender moon Papertrey Ink paper and decided I didn’t need anything else.  I almost ALWAYS use DP but I’m really happy how this turned out!

I used my brand new Willow image from Whiff of Joy and my Copics!!!  I picked up a skin toned Copic the other day so that I could use the Copics to color people as well.  I still do love my watercolors but Copics give a completely different look and they are a lot quicker.  And they are a lot of fun to play with!!!  I won’t be using them all the time yet.  I don’t have enough colors to do much shading.

Come back tomorrow for Flutterby Wednesday.  It’s going to be another great week!!!

A Fantabulous Day

The day is finally here!!!  The first challenge at Fantabulous Cricut!!!  birthdays buttons and baloonsOur first challenge is a pretty simple one!  It must include three things:

1.  A balloon
2.  The word birthday
3.  A Cricut cut

Now, your Cricut cut doesn’t have to be the word or the balloon but you must use at least one cut.

I do most of my Cricut work in Design Studio.  I like using DS for two reasons; first, I can design my project while sitting back in my comfy chair using my laptop.  Oh, you can adjust your images to the dimensions that work for you.

The tag is from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and I adjusted the dimensions to 2.724 x 4.37.  I cut the balloons out at 3 inches (Stretch Your Imagination) and then cut off the strings attaching them with rick rack instead.  The Happy Birthday is cut from Calligraphy Collection at 2.5 inches.  I discarded the star that is cut with the image.

I like to add some kind of dimension to letters and sentiments.  Since this particular cut doesn’t have a shadow or blackout feature, I added a few dots of Liquid Pearls.

Now it’s your turn.  Head on over to the Fantabulous Cricut challenge blog and have a look at all the wonderful creations by the DT.  Robin has chosen some very talented ladies for the DT.  I know a lot of you ladies that come here regularly have Cricuts so I want to see you start using them.  Okay?

Christine

Shiny Squiggleflies and Turtles

I finally remembered to post my Squigglefly challenge card before I go to bed.  Yay!!!  Aren’t you proud of me?  10-03-15 The challenge this week is to include shiny embellishments on your card.  I just love this cute Groovy Gus.  I’m such a hippy at heart so these things always speak to me.    Don’t ya’ just love that peace sign sun?  The shiny sequin flowers were a rak from my good friend Nancy

The other ladies have made some great cards for you to all to see so hop on over to the Squigglefly Challenge blog and have a look.  All you need to do is use a Squigglefly image (there are several freebies in the store) and use a shiny embellishment!

Thursday Thunks

rodin thinker

Welcome to my Thursday Thunks.

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen, the color of opals, and the number a thousand more than last week.

BG4642

1. What is your favorite kind of cookie?  My grandmother’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.  Yumnumnumnum!!!

2228691677_0504f13d3e 2. If a birds wing falls asleep, does it hurt when it tries to flap it's wings or does that make it feel better?  If he flaps it hurts, but if he has is sweetie rub them, the tingling goes away.

0007874214323_150X150

3. Water - tab, bottle, filtered or....???  I think you meant tap?  I drink tap with Wal-Mart brand Crystal Light peach flavored.  And yes, I drink it with chocolate chip cookies!

4. Would you (or do you) have a stripper pole installed in your home?  Not even!

make-match-aluminum-christmas-tree-800X800 5. Do you still have any Christmas decoration up?  I didn’t put then up this year.  But at about this time last year, my family staged an intervention to help me take them down!!!  Sadly, it’s true!

Kodak_Logo

6. What brand of camera do you have? Kodak.

colour-chips 7. Why do paint colors have weird names?  And I wanna’ know who thinks up those name?  Back in the day, when I worked at Sears paint department, they were numbered.  Now they name them after everything.  It kind of scares me when they name them after foods.  What if some idiot sees it and tries to eat it?

long_toes_blue_nails 8. Which toe is your favorite and which foot is it on?  My  fave is my second toe because it’s longer than the others and that’s a sign of intelligence.  (No, I’m not the idiot that would eat paint.)  I have middle toes on both feet!!!

sneeze

9. What would you do if a celebrity sneezed in your face?  Yuck!  I’d give them a nasty look and ask if they had a tissue.  Being a celebrity doesn’t excuse bad manners.

images 10. If a stranger came to your door and asked for a glass of water, would you give it to them?  No!  That’s just weird.  Every time I answer the door without checking to see who it is first, I regret it.  I need a camera at my door so I can know if I want to answer it or not.  (Is it weird that the picture makes me need to pee?  I’ll be back in a minute.)

Camping%20site 11. The government has asked that you pick the newest national holiday - what is it?  We need another long holiday weekend in the summer so I’d say National Camping Day.  But there’s a twist.  You only get it off if you go camping.  Oh, wait.  That means EVERYONE would be camping and I don’t want that.  We’ll call it National No Camping Day!!!  The I’ll be the only one in the campground.

Buttoned Up Birdhouse

buttoned up bird house Love, love, love this cute 3d house template designed by Lauren Meader in her shop, My Time Made Easy.  I made it in to a cute little birdhouse with a LOT of buttons.  I’m going to have to order more yellow buttons from Papertrey Ink.

I’ve been wanting this template since it came out but the reason I decided to finally decided to purchase it is that there is a giveaway on Katie Cotton’s blog.  She is giving away a copy of SCAL (Sure Cuts a Lot), a program that is used with your Cricut machine that gives you many cutting options including Lauren Meader’s templates.  I wouldn’t have had to cut this out by hand!!!

So with that, I’m going to leave you now.  I’ve got lots to do today.  If you have some time today, you to can play along to win a copy of SCAL!  The contest ends today!  Oh ya, I almost forgot, Lauren is picking her fave project and giving that person her entire April release!  How great is that!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Mountain Retreat

Today is another Squigglefly challenge. Do you want to play along? You could win a free image-maybe you would choose this one. 10-03-08Sorry for the photo quality. I only got two shots off before my camera’s battery ran out.

This image reminds me of summers when I would go to my uncle’s cabin in Grand Jean, Idaho. It was so beautiful and peaceful with hot springs near by. I love camping and driving around in the mountains -- one of my favorite things during the summer!

The challenge at the Squigglefly Challenge blog is to make a scene using Squigglefly images. I took the easy way out and used one of Squigglefly’s scene images. This one is definitely one of my favorites.

I finished my tags for the swap I told you about a few days ago. They are great and I can’t wait to see what the others have done. I will share mine when I receive my tag book back!

That’s it for now. Have a great Monday!!!

Christine

Spring Wellies

Just (what should be) a quick clean and simple card again.   spring welliesIt seems that I really struggle with CAS sometimes.  When I started thinking about embossing the kraft, I remembered that I had this border Swiss dots die which I love but seldom use!  Now, I really like how it turned out!

6a00d8341c64e753ef01310f4a36b1970c I made this card for the Papertrey Ink spring color challenge using these colors.  I don’t have Papertrey kraft (Provo Craft) or vintage cream (Bazzill) so I substituted something close.

I’m working on a tag swap that I joined late in the game so I won’t be working anything except challenges until probably Monday.  I hope you don’t miss me too much!

Blessings,

Christine

Thursday Thunks

rodin thinker

Welcome to this week’s Thursday Thunks.  We will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Bud, the color of Australian Money, and the number 333.

Did you see that? We have a guest blogger this week!!!!

1. Someone knocks on your door. You have not seen this person in years. You were once great friends. Who would you like it to be and why?  I would still like to be me but from about 15 years ago!

2. What do you think would be a great song title that isn't one? Who do you want to record it?  I have thought and thought about this and can’t come up with anything.  I do know that I would like Jimmy Buffet to sing it!  I’m just not very creative today.

3. You are having a party. If I'm invited, what should I bring?  This!

4. If your spouse or s/o cheated with a one night stand while away, would you really want to know?  Probably not.  But if there’s is any chance I might find out, he had better tell me.

5. How long does it take for a house guest to drive you bonkers?  It would totally depend on who it is.  But for the most part, about a week.  I’ve stayed a lot longer that a week at my sis’ house though.

PinkSky

6. If you could pick a new color for the sky, what would you pick?  Did you not get the memo, I love pink!

7. What did you think of the Olympics?  I always love the Olympics!  U SA!!!  We had several Idahonians (as one of our skiers said) win medals as well!

8. Could TT have thought of a lamer blogger that me to guest host?  You’re the perfect guest host.  Although when I saw that you were guest host, I was a little worried.  My mom reads this blog you know!

lie

9. What's the stupidest lie that someone really thought you'd believe?  Lie?  No one would ever lie to me.

graduation

10. What was the best day you had in high school? Tell us about it.  Good days in high school?  Gradualtion!

11. Name something that you have in your home that you are sure most people don't.   An antique suitcase.  I know that’s lame but I couldn’t think of anything else.  I told you I wasn’t very creative today.

12. Why haven't you at least tried to play The Dating Profile Meme?  I told you, my mom reads this blog!

13. Do you think homophobia is a choice?  Never thought of it that way.  But working in theatre for a number of years, I’m definately not homophobic.

Great questions Bud!!!

Blessings,

Christine
