Halloween Thursday Thunks
Another fun week with Thursday Thunks!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Berleen, the color Blood red and the number 31.
1. So Halloween is this weekend, if you haven't heard. Are you gonna open your doors up or not? Just until it gets dark.
2. You better open 'em cuz I'm coming... what are you putting in my treat bag? Snickers and peanut butter cups
3. Since October is the bestest month for television (well for cable & dish subscribers it is) and there is a horror movie on at any given time of the day - are you sick of them yet? I’m always sick of them. I don’t like horror movies.
4. Which one of those movies can you watch over & over again? Since I’ve never seen any of them, I don’t think there’s one all watch over and over. Ya, I know …. booooring!!!
5. Tell us about a Halloween scare you've had.... Okay, if you haven’t guessed by now, I don’t like to be scared. I did scare someone once. I was dressed in a great witch costume complete with gray/green matted hair, spider earrings, green and black makeup, the works. I walked behind a friends desk while talking and when she turned around and so me, she screamed. I went to my old boyfirends office dor and he didn’t even recognize me!
6. Did you watch the old Casper cartoons when you were a youngin? Well, back then they weren't old I suppose, but I'm sure you still understand my question. Don’t remind me that they weren’t old when I watched them. Since he was a friendly ghost, I like watching Casper!
7. Have you ever found a four-leaf clover? What’s this have to do with Halloween? Yes, I’ve been very luck!
8. Haunted Houses... you know, the kinds you pay to get in and they chase you with chainsaws and severed heads.... do you like 'em? I went to a haunted house with my five year old niece once and I was scared to death. I was glad when she wanted out because I could blame her for not wantint to continue!
9. Do you use cute cartoon type wrapping paper for Christmas presents or the not cutesy paper? Or are you one of those gift card and/or gift bag people? I like wrapping presents and I usually use the cutsie paper!
10. How long do boiled eggs need to stay in the boiling water before they become hard boiled eggs? I start them in cold water and turn on the timer for 25 minutes.
11. Jason is coming in through your front door... Freddy is coming through your back door... zombies are at every window of the house and Norman Bates is calling to invite you to dinner... what do you do? Who are those people? Remember, I don’t watch scary movies!
12. Did you know that the scariest part of Halloween is giving all of your Reeses Peanut Butter Cups away? Definately! I’ve been eating them all night. Maybe I won’t have any left for you on Halloween!
13a. If you were to play a part of a haunted house (not the ghosts in the attic kind), what would you want to be? Glenda the good witch! Give me a break, that’s the scariest movie I’ve ever seen.
13b. Have you ever played a part in a haunted house? No.
14. If Thursday Thunks had a Halloween party, what do you think Kimber & Berleen would come dressed as? Twiddle Dee and Tweedle Dum! Sorry, it’s the only funny thing on thought of.
15. Do you cook a turkey for Thanksgiving? Not usually; I always do dessert.
16. Have you ever read a book that scared the pants off of you? Nope, my pants are still on.
17. Whats the predicted high temperature for today? 42 degrees, Brrrr!
18. Have you ever howled at the moon? I have. We were camping on a river with the next camping spot about a mile down. We started howing at the moon and then the other campers kept howling back and forth. I remember the full moon was so bright that it was almost too light to sleep!
19.You are in an alley and a werewolf and a vampire are coming at you - one of them has to win. Which one do you want to bite you? Since I’ve been bitten by on the neck several times in the last couple of years, I think I’ll take the vampire. (For those that want to know more, if you don’t know already, check my post from Sunday.
If you’ld like to play along, go to Thursday Thunks to get the questions. It’s fun; you should try it some time!!!

Christine

A Chirper Recipe
Please Scroll Down for My Flutterby Wednesday Post
For the Chirper Challenge we are joining forces with a new challenge blog, Creative Cookbooking. Creative Cookbooking is the brain child of Debbie Sherman.
Here’s what she has to say. “Creative cookbooking is scrapbooking your recipies! It's about sharing and creating your own personal cookbook. The best part about doing this is, every recipe in your book has been tried and tested by you! The next best thing is you love every recipe in this cookbook!!!
Our Chirper / Creative Cookbooking challenge is to create a recipe page (any size you wish-mine is 8x8) featuring your favorite pumpkin treat. Please include a picture of the dish and the recipe on your page as well as a Cricut cut. The Creative Cookbooking challenge is to include any die cut, not specifically Cricut. So those who aren’t lucky enough to own a Cricut, you can play along too!
I shouldn’t have done this, but I tried a new recipe for my pumpkin treat. It turned out OK but not the best I’ve had.
Do you remember the day that I spent at the pumpkin patch with “the Aunt’s”? This is why I wanted to go. I wanted to personalize this page with a picture of them “hunting” for pumpkins!
I cut the title using the Lyrical Letters cartrudge. I used the George cartridge to cutout 5 ovals, about 6 “ each for the pumpkin. I chalked in red around the ovals and aranged them to look like a pumpkin. I’d seen this done but hadn’t tried it. I think it worked out great.
When you pull on the pumpkins green ribbon stem . . .
. . . the recipe comes out.
I made picks for the cupcakes using the pumpkin and spider cuts from the Doodlecharms cartridge. I tied a little yellow ribbon (that reminds me of a song-hehe) around each one for extra decoration.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look at my project. I love the Creative Cookbooking challenge and definately plan to participate again. However, I have to catch up on a few challenges – favorite soup and bread, favorite main dish and favorite Halloween dessert or cookie. I think I’ll just combine the favorite Halloween dessert with the favorite pumpkin treat challenge. It works for me anyway!!!
If you would like to participate in the Chirper Challenge, you can go to the challenge blog and see all of the DT projects before you get started!
Blessings,
Christine
Boo -- tterfly
I just had to end the month of October Flutterby Wednesday open challenges with a Boo – tterfly card!!! Besides the fact that I had three projects to do today and this was a quick and easy card. I lay in bed last night thinking about my projects for today and came up with this idea. It’s good that this one was so easy because the other two projects didn’t work out the way I thought they would. I like how they turned out but the planning wasn’t all there so it took a little too much time!!! I posted one just before this post and I will post the other as soon as I get done here.
The paper is from Debbie Mumm. I used the MS butterfly punch for the layered butterfly and the MS border punch (I think it’s called Drippy Goo) that I won in the Saturday Spotlight candy! I have to tell you that there was so much ribbon in that giveaway that I had to start a new box for all my ribbon!!! That’s a good thing!
If you would like to play along with the Flutter By Wednesday challenge, you can go check out all of the other lovely DT blogs by clicking on their links on the right sidebar and then going to Danni’s Dreams to link up your card. Danni has also mentioned that since the holidays are right around the corner, angels "flutter by" too so feel free to add angels to your creations for the holidays.
I didn’t think to look for a sketch for this card. I just used my go to quick and simple sketch. The Cute Daisy May challenge is Halloween.
Blessings,
Christine

Poinsettia Bugs
I finally got a chance to join in with the new Cricut challenge blog, Just Buggin’. The challenge this week is to use a card cut from any cartridge. I chose the Joys of the Season Poinsettia cut. This was a very simple but yet elegant card. I also cut the sentiment from the same cartridge. I chalked everything and glued the red poinsettia on the card. (Chalk is a Cricut girls best friend!) I then glued gold seed beads to the center and added some red jewels to the corners.
I think I’ll make a set of these to give to a charity event to raise money for the transplant support group in Utah.
The Winter Wonderland challenge is open this week. I’m pretty sure this foots the bill!!!
I’ll have my Flutterby Wednesday card up first thing in the morning and another surprise challenge for ya!
Blessings,
Christine

I’m Home …
…and so happy to be home. It was a long week in Utah but everything turned out great. First of all, my tests were all normal. No sign of rejection which is always the best news. As transplant patients, we take our small victories!!! I got two this week.
First of all, I don’t have to go for another appointment until April. When I first got out of the hospital two years ago, I had twice a week appointments. Now I have twice a year appointments! The next stop is annually.
And the second eventful thing is that they decreased another one of my medication levels. If you have normal exams for the first two years (which I have), they decrease the Prograf level. This may be the medication that is causing my migraine headaches so that’s good news!
However, everything didn’t go perfectly. They did a right heart catheter as part of my tests. They use the catheter to “take a little piece of my heart, now baby” to check for rejection. After the test, they had problems getting the bleeding to stop. All that meant was that the nurse had to put pressure on the incision on my neck for 20 minutes – 5, count them, FIVE times! That means almost two hours – with a nurse leaning on my neck!!! That left my neck is quite sore. It feels better each day and it doesn’t really keep me down but it does hurt!
My sister, my niece and I had a great time on Friday evening and Saturday. We went to Hobby Lobby Friday night. I don’t have a Hobby Lobby where I live so this was a treat. I didn’t spend much but found some great stuff. We also went to the S.E.I. store and I didn’t spend too awfully much there. They were having a special day with a bunch of stuff on sale for $1 and some giveaways and door prizes. I got a call from them on Saturday and I had one a door prize. It is one of the kits from their monthly kit club. I can’t wait to see what I receive!
On Saturday, my niece was kind enough to push me around the zoo in a wheel chair. My niece worked at that zoo during high school and college breaks so she has a lot of “back stage” knowledge about the zoo. She even interned at one of the nations best zoos, Henry Doorly in Omaha, while in college. (Can you tell that I’m proud of her accomplishments?)
The zoo had a baby elephant that was so cute. I’ll post some of those pictures later this week.
Saturday evening, I met my good friend and fellow transplant patient, Jim, and his wife for dinner. We talked so much that they had to kick us out of the restaurant because they were closing. It’s so nice to see them and I can’t wait until they are able to return home to Boise.
That’s it for now! I’ll be working on some DT stuff at the beginning of the week but hope to check in with a new creation tomorrow.
Blessings,
Christine

Distressing with Bee Crafty
It’s time for another wonderful Bee Crafty Challenge. This weeks challenge is to use some sort of distressing.
I used the Birthday Cake image for my distressing challenge. I colored it with water colors and added some stickles. I then cut it out with a round nestie, mated it with the next size of round and then a scalloped nestie. I distressed the two round cuts with brown chalk. I then cut some K&Co. DP to size and used a Tim Holtz distressing tool around the edges. I punched the edge of another piece of K&Co paper with the MS doily lace punch and distressed all those edges. Glued everything together and added a few itty bitty buttons and some trim.
If you'd like to play along with the distressing challenge, go to the Bee Crafty blog and check out what all the other DT created and make your own project using any digi image.
I scheduled this post since I am in Utah right now. Hopefully, I will be home sometime today!
Blessings,
Christine

Flutterby Tea
I’m hitting the road this morning to go to Utah for my testing and clinic appointment for my annual exam. This one won’t be much fun but I trust everything will turn out okay. They always have! I’ve been a very lucky girl!!!
So today is Wednesday so that means it’s Flutterby Wednesday. I got my card all ready early so I could have a creation for you this week!
When I saw this image on another blog, I went straight to Mo’s Digital Pencil and got it. I think this is so cute!!! The adorable little girl feeding her cat.
I watercolored her and then cut her out with my nesties. The DP is from the DCWV Far East stack. The sentiment is Hero Arts. I added some MS butterflies and Kaiser Crafts gems and used the MS doily lace border punch.
That’s about it. I hope everyone has a nice week and I’ll be home as soon as I can! They won’t let me drive for 48 hours plus I might be a little sore anyway.
Blessings,
Christine

Victoria’s Bee
I’ve had this card envisioned for quite some time. My friend, Nancy at La Chambre Rose, sent me a bunch of trims and embellishments from her online shop, Linens and Laurel. She has some beautiful vintage and vintage looking trims and tassels in her store. Go check her out!!!
Anyway, back to my card. When I saw this bumble bee and the pom pom trim I knew that I had to make a black, white and yellow card using this adorable free image from Victoria Case. I few weeks ago, Victoria Case had a black and white with one other color challenge. I didn’t have time to play that week but when I saw the sketch this week, I knew it was perfect to show off the pom pom trim.
The ABC challenge is flying.
I’m off to Utah again this week for the appointments I missed while I was sick on the last trip. I’ve got my FBW card and my Bee Crafty card done and I’ll have the posts schedule for while I’m away.
It was a beautiful, warm weekend here but it sounds like our last for the season. Luckily, I love fall weather so I’ll still be very happy with the cooler temperatures.
Blessings,
Christine

Autumn Leaves
I made a few cards for my mother to give to some ladies at church. I made them very simply, I used a free word art digi stamps from Paper Makeup stamps. I painted a yellow wash on the leaf and then dotted bits of orange and red onto it. The DP is Debbie Mumm. I kept things simple because she will be mailing them.
I thought I would share a couple of pictures of Chloe with you.
Here’s my cutie pie the day she came home with me!
And here is a picture I took tonight. When she still had her baby teeth I didn’t know that she was going to have an overbite. Everyone keeps telling me to have her fitted for braces but I love her just the way she is!!!
The funny thing is that I have the same shirt on tonight that I did 2-1/2 years ago. I’m surprised it’s not in threads. I do where it a lot!
Blessings,
Christine

A Day at the Pumpkin Patch
I took “The Aunts” to the pumpkin patch today. (Don’t you like how I put a bit of the Walton’s in there? If we’d only had John Boy with us!)
It was such a perfect day to go to the pumpkin patch!
Wasn’t it gorgeous out! Such a beautiful day to spend with the people I love.
Here we have “The Aunts” and my mother.
From L to R, Sharon, mom, Ruth, Lorna, and in the back, Mr.. Scarecrow – Ruth’s boyfriend!!! Aren’t they beautiful!!!
I took this one just to prove that we were on the farm. Since it rained yesterday, it was a muddy farm!
And, what’s a pumpkin farm in October without a corn maze? Can you see the corn stalks in the background? This is a huge corn maze. I don’t do corn mazes but if I did, this would be the one. It’s a testament to Boise State University sports.
Have I mentioned that our non-BCS, not even close to being in the BCS, small University football team is #5… IN THE NATION!!! Just had to mention that!!!
I don’t know when they took this picture but I can tell you that NOTHING, and I mean nothing, I saw today was green!!! Well, except some squash I bought. I’m working on my Autumn decor for my deck tomorrow so I’ll probably be showing off the goods I got today very soon. I got almost 43 pounds of squash and pumpkins! Oops. But I thought they’d all look cute on my deck, not to mention taste yummy!!!
Now, can you guess why I had to go to the pumpkin patch to get photos for the Cricut challenge? I bet’cha can’t! Well, except the obvious that I’m going to do a scrapbook page.
I hope you had as great a day as I!!!
Blessings,
Christine
Thankful Tilda
I received Fall Tilda in the mail today and had to color her right away. I love the Midnight Madness sketch not to mention that they are having a great prize this week so I knew I had to play along. More about all the fun at Midnight Madness later.
I colored Tilda with watercolors, of course. I used Debbie Mumm DP, Prima flowers and ribbon and buttons from Wal-Mart.
Midnight Madness is having a blog hop this weekend. It sounds like a lot of fun with a lot of prizes! So mark your calendars and go hop, hop, hoping this weekend!!!
I used the sketch from Midnight Madness, the Pink Elephant challenge is fall, Creative Belli is fall with a leaf and Crazy 4 Challenges is Thanksgiving.
I don’t know where my family will be spending Thanksgiving this year. I’ll probably be giving this card to the host/hostess!
I’m going to the pumpkin patch tomorrow with my mom and my aunts from Missouri. I need to get some pictures for a project I will be working of for an upcoming Cricut challenge. I think we’ll have a lot of fun and find some nice pumpkins!
I hope you have fun tomorrow. I’m sure gonna!!!
Blessings,
Christine
Thursday Thunks
Welcome to the October 15th version of Thursday Thunks!
This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by
Kimber, the number 32 (as in only 32 people played last week) and the color of dog poop on your shoe.
1. Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses,
And all the king's men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
Why was Humpty Dumpty sitting on that wall? He was waiting for the bacon!
2. If Mother Goose and Father Time had kids, what would they look like and what would they be named?
They only had one girl who was named Tise. What do you think she looked like? A toose!!!
3. Does Barbie have kankles? ‘fraid not!
4. Have you ever been featured in a magazine? No, but I hope to some day.
5. Did your parents keep a baby book for you? If so, how often have you looked through it? Yes, they did; but since I was the last child, there’s not much in it. I look at it when I come across it. It’s kind of fun!
6. If someone dropped off a case of candy bars at your front door, what kind of candy bar would you want? (Berleen's question from Insanity Cafe.) Snickers with Almonds. When are you coming by? I’ll share!!!
7. Rub-a-dub-dub,
Three men in a tub,
And how do you think they got there?
The butcher, the baker,
The candlestick-maker,
They all jumped out of a rotten potato,
'Twas enough to make a man stare.
What happened to the rotten potato? Further more, if they jumped out of a rotten potato, do you think they stink?
They tried to use the rotten potato as a life boat but it started to sink too. Potatoes don’t float, you know. And yes they stunk. Pee-U!!!
They let us off easy today. If you want to play along with Thursday Thunks, click on the link and have fun!!!
Blessings,
Christine

The Fairy’s Tales
Guess what? It’s another Flutterby Wednesday!!! When I saw this image at Dulemba Coloring Pages, I new I had to make it into a bookmark for a Flutterby project. Isn’t she adorable!!! This is a corner bookmark. I have a tutorial on these here.
The Flutterby Challenge is open this week; just include a butterfly or fairy on your card. I colored her with watercolors. The DP is from the DCWV sweet stack and the the ribbon is from Michaels. I used my Martha Stewart edge punch and and a small butterfly punch on the bottom.
If you would like to play along with the Flutter By Wednesday challenge, you can go check out all of the other lovely DT blogs by clicking on their links on the right sidebar and then going to Danni’s Dreams to link up your card.
I used the sketch from PaperPlay. The Cute Daisy May challenge is fairies, the Whimsy challenge and the Everybody Art challenge is punches, and Creative Card Crew is scallops,
I won’t be around for next weeks challenge but I have already painted the image and I’ll make the card and schedule a post for next Wednesday. I have my rescheduled test at the University of Utah next week.
My two aunts is here from Missouri this week so I might be missing from my blog for a few days. I’ll try to remember my camera so I can post a picture of the two lovely ladies later in the week.
That’s all for tonight. I’m going to hit the sack early tonight. I know, it’s 10:30 and I’m already thinking about going to bed.
Blessings,
Christine

Bee Crafty Autumn Flowers
The challenge this week at Bee Crafty is a sketch challenge.
Loved working with this sketch. I turned it on it’s side but left the embellies where they were. It worked better for the paper I chose.
The image is Bee Crafty’s Flower’s in a Vase. I’ve always used this image in pastels or traditional flower colors. When I was thinking about what I was going to make as I was trying to sleep last night (do you do that), I pictured this in fall colors. I think it turned out really nice.
I watercolored the flowers. You can’t see it very well in the picture but I put a goldish-brown wash over the whole paper before coloring the image to give it the autumn feel. The DP is Debbie Mumm and the flowers are Prima. Brads and ribbon are from my stash.
The Cupcake Craft challenge is “thanks a bunch” and Tuesday Taggers and Secret Craft challenges are autumn colors. Stamp Something is to use the color brown plus any other colors and Stamping for the Weekend is a color challenge.
So go to the Bee Crafty blog and take a look at the other DT members creations. They’re beautiful and you won’t want to miss out. Since I wasn’t around for challenge 14 to tell you about this, I’ll tell you now. Bee Crafty released some very cute new images. Check them out while you’re there.
Blessings,
Christine
Yummy Candy Corn
I was going to say “another fun Halloween card” but I think this is my first fun Halloween card. This was a free image from Inktegrity. One of my favorite things about Halloween is the candy corn. I do eat it a little but I mostly like how it looks and I sprinkle it around here and there in my Fall decorating. I think it’s the cutest candy!!! I colored it with BIC markers and used Debbie Mumm DP. I added some ribbon and buttons to match the dp.
I used the sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You. They always have a great sketch but I’m not always able to play along.
Well it’s time to start getting ready for bed. See ya’ in the morning!!!
Blessings,
Christine
