Give Me A “Y”

Y bannerI can’t believe the wedding is only nine days away!!! It has always seemed so far away and now we just have a week to finish things. Wow!!!

Today, I’ve been working on a banner for them to use on their thank you notes. After the wedding, they will hold it up and have the photographer take a picture. That picture will be on the front of the thank you card. Oh, I guess I should tell you what the banner says – “Thank You.” I can’t take credit for this idea. They gave it at the Archivers Bridal class that we took. I’ll show you the completed banner when it’s finished. I’ll hopefully get it done tomorrow.

My sister and niece are coming over on Saturday to help me finish getting my house ready for one of the out of town wedding guests. She is the same lady that I stay with when I go to my doc appts in Utah.

Then, at the beginning of the week I have to make some bows for the decorations. I won’t go into details, but starting on Thursday evening, we will be working on wedding set up non-stop. Decorations, chairs, tables, meat trays, pies (yes, she wanted pie), and on and on and on. A lot to do but it will be a lot of fun.

All of my siblings will be at the wedding!!! We don’t get all of us in one place very often. The photographer has agreed to also take a family portrait for us. It’s been quite a while since our last one. Maybe I’ll actually be able to update my profile pict.

Well, I think I better work on the banner now. I’ll probably run out of adhesive before it is done but I’ll do as much as I can. Do you like how the “Y” turned out?

Blessings,

Christine

Thursday Thunks

rodin thinker

Click to participate in Thursday Thunks.  You should – it’s fun!

This week we will answer some crazy questions brought to you by Kimber, the number 14 and the color of life. (2 questions by Ber, figure out which 2.)

10100809A~Elevator-Posters[5]

1. You are in an enclosed space with a group of friends. Elevator, auto, small room, etc.. You fart and it really stinks. Do you take credit for it or do you play along with the questioning of who did it?  Who me, fart?  It wasn’t me!!!

2. You are locked in a room sitting at a desk with just a piece of paper and a purple crayon. What do you draw?  I’m a doodler!

3. Do you ever pee in the shower?  Ick!

4. Have you bought, sold or got rid of something on Craigslist?  No!  I put in a request for a treadmill but nobody answered.

1243430323 5. You are in a convenience store. In the line in front of you is a drunk guy trying to purchase more alcohol. The cashier tells him they cannot sell it to him because he is obviously already intoxicated. He gets belligerent. The cashier is scared. What do you do?  Leave.

grapes

6. While shopping for produce, do you "sample" before you buy (i.e. grapes)?  No, they’re dirty.  Ick!!!

ST4010

7. You are walking down the street and there is a toddler sitting on a bench by themselves in front of a store - do you just keep walking?  No.  I'd talk to her to see if I could find her Mommy or Daddy.

8. Have you looked up an old friend and/or lover online?  I’ve tried but couldn’t find him.  Dr. Ian McLaren from Scotland (just in case he reads this).

9. You are nearly in a car/auto accident. Do you freak out, follow the person who nearly caused it & talk to them or just keep going?  Start screaming about how big an idiot he is but keep going.

Y’all come back now, ya hear!

A Vintage Card Just for Me

I told you I was going to make something just because I wanted to and not for DT cards or challenges and stuff (or weddings). Well, here it is and I did get a few challenges in on it.
Vintage ButtonsI got the idea for this card from my friend, Penny Duncan. She gave this black and white image away on her blog and had colored it with water color pencils for her project. I’ve been wanting to use it and do something similar. I used water color paints. Everything is the same color just more saturation. I really think it turned out lovely except I wish I would have made different flowers. I really do love it though. What do you think?

I started with the sketch from Crafts 4 Eternity and they have an extra challenge of vintage. The challenge at Color Throwdown is rose red, blue and pink. There’s not much blue but it’s there.

All the paper is K & Co. and the buttons are vintage buttons that my Mom gave me. They were priced at 25 cents and marked down to 13 cents. That is for a card of five! I don’t buy new buttons much but I think they would be at least a couple of bucks.

That’s it. I hope you like it!

Blessings,

Christine

Flutter By Pond

Guess what? It’s once again, Flutter By Wednesday!

flutter By bond

Simple card this time, but I think I like it.

This weeks challenge was set by Ann and I think it’s the one we all dread. NO DESIGNER PAPER – yuck! Well, actually, I was kind of looking forward to a no DP challenge after I came up with this idea. I made my paper with water colors and salt. It didn’t turn out exactly like I thought it would but it looks good! I’m really happy with it. I thought I had taken pictures of the process but they’re not on my card. Anyway, I wet my watercolor paper down really well and then dotted large spots of yellow and of lavender paint here and there. Then I sprinkled the whole thing with salt. That’s the part that didn’t really turn out. Next time I do this, I’ll do it a little tutorial with pictures so you can see how I do it and and how it should have turned out. Or maybe how it shouldn’t turn out depending on if it works that time or not.

Another thing about making paper like this is that you can exactly match the image!!! Speaking of the image, it is a Pollycraft digital image. I bought the whole set because I couldn’t decide which one I wanted. They were all so cute!

If you would like to play along with the Flutter By Wednesday challenge, you can go check out all of the other lovely DT blogs by clicking on their links on the right sidebar and then going to Danni’s Dreams to link up your card.

Now, for the other challenges:

Fresh Batch – sketch

Lili of the Valley – animals

Stamp Something – butterflies, bugs and other winged things

Pile it On – watercolor (that ones really easy for me)

Creative Card Crew – girls just wanna have fun

My Time to Craft – floral frenzy

Wow! Seven challenges and I only tried for two!!! Well that’s about it for tonight!

Blessings,

Christine

What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday

WOYWW

Julia at Stamping Ground has come up with the great idea of showing everyone what's on your workdesk each week. Doesn’t that sound fun and it’ll kind of give a diary of what your working on. I’ll take my photos before I go to bed very early on Wednesday morning before I go to bed. I’m going to try really hard to do this every week.

So, here’s what I have. I had to take three pictures ‘cause I have a wide desk and I can’t get at an angle to get the whole thing.

09-07-29 (1)

This is what’s on the left side. A jar of blooms and other miscellaneous, my Cricut, my drink and some salt. What? Salt? I used it to make my paper for Flutter By Wednesday.

09-07-29 (2)

The middle is pretty clear. I finished my project tonight so everything is put away. On the left, my fav scissors and my Cricut mat with a pencil in the middle. On the right, this is where I always have a mess – my cup of water for watercolors, paper scraps (from the project I just finished) and a couple of glue runners.

09-07-29 (3)

The rest of the right, more paper covering up lots of other junk. I have a cute lazy susan containing my Prismas, my water color pencils, paint brushes and other miscellaneous tools. The little pink ruffled bowl contains misc. die cuts and painted images that I made by mistake or didn’t use on the final product. Ya’ know you have to save these things in case you’ll ever use them again.

You can see my printer on the left of the picture – covered with papers and completed cards (waiting to be photoed), as usual.

Hopefully this will all look different in about a month. That’s when I’ll get a chance to get my craft room all in order. Maybe I’ll get the job finished on a Tuesday so I can post pictures of it all clean and pristine. I think either way, I’ll post pictures. This room is going to be getting quite a transformation over the next several months.

Michael’s Sale on Cricut Carts

Just wanted to let anyone who doesn’t know that Michael’s has all their Cricut cartridges on sale for $40.00.  Even the new ones that just came out – Lyrical Letters, Life’s a Beach, United We Stand, etc.

Also, about my doctor appointment, he increased my dose of one of my meds and will continue to increase it until I’m taking 12 times more than I take now (if I can tolerate that much).  If that doesn’t work, he’ll try something else.  He said that this is the best bet because anything else would have more side affects or interfere with my other meds.

He also gave me a prescription for pain meds but the transplant team doesn’t want me to take it.  They are going to suggest an alternative.

That’s it for tonight!

Blessings,

Christine

Mini Blog Candy Winner

Oops, I almost forgot. The winner of my mini-blog candy is my fellow Bee Crafty team member, Deifen. Congratulations!

Deifen, please send me your mailing address and I will try to get it out to you this week.

I worked on some things today but it was only DT projects. I want to get everything done for this week and then I can play with whatever I’m in the mood for! I have a lot of little ideas running around in this head that need to come out!

I see the doc tomorrow. He’s the one I go to for the pain. I’m hoping he has a new idea up his sleeve!!! It would sure be nice to feel a little better. Especially the week of my niece’s wedding.

The pup is looking at me like it’s time to go to bed so I’m off to bed now. Nitey nite now!

Awards

Two of my blog buddies were nice enough to give me awards.  First, Stef of Glitterbabe Greetings gave me this award.  Thanks so much Stef!

blog_honest_award_thumb steph

“The Honest Scrap” award is not one to hold all to yourself but it must be shared!

1. First, the recipient has to tell 10 true things about themselves in their blog that no one else knows.

2. Second, the recipient has to pass along this prestigious award to 10 more bloggers.

3. Third, those 10 bloggers all have to be notified they have been given this award.

4. The 10 bloggers that receive this award should link back to the blog that awarded them “The Honest Scrap’ award.

Okay, so ten things you don’t (or may not) know about me.

1.  I’m not a true blonde but I was for 48 years!  I will always be blonde!  I was a true blonde in my profile photo!

2.  I grew up in Boise, Idaho, but I have lived in seven other cities since I was 18.  Now I’m back in Boise!

3.  My Father died when I was three months old but I got a new Father (my Mom remarried) that was the greatest man on earth.

4.  My Mother and I are the only two people in the family that do not have gray hair.  My sisters will kill me for saying this.  You can’t see their gray hair, if ya know what I mean (he-he).  I’m sure happy that I take after my Mom.

5.  I have a HUGE sweet tooth.  Especially for chocolate.

6.  I know some of you know this but it’s such and important part of my life.  I had a heart transplant on Sept. 7, 2007.

7.  In my previous life (before disability), I was a technical writer.

8.  When I was a child, I was very shy.  So shy that I didn’t like Santa Claus.  I wouldn’t even sit on his lap to tell him what I wanted for Christmas

9.  I’m having a hard time coming up with 10 things.  I’m counting this as one of them!!!

10.  I’ve been married twice but only divorced once.  However, I’m legally no longer married.

That was tough.

Now to pass it on to 10 people.

Sarah – a very talented artist.
Coralie – a beautiful woman with a beautiful blog
Nancy – a lovely lady who motivates me
Lisa – Another lovely lady who has helped motivate me to change my. creative space and to do a little scrapping. I haven’t made a new page yet but I’m gonna!
Rose - my sis…I hope she’s not mad at me!
Trisha – my niece.
Penny – she gives me so much inspiration.
Angie – a beautiful and talented crafter!
Georgia – a Modern Sugar Boulevard DT that I recently “met” that gives me encouragement.
Cassie – a fellow flutterbyer and Modern Sugar Boulevard DT that chose me to be guest DT. I was very honored to be GDT and learned so much by the experience.

Now to the other award given to me by Georgia from Paper Possibilities... Toadily Handmade!  I’ve only known her for a short time but she is fabulously talented.  Now I need to pick five people to pass this one on to.  I’m going to pick the same ladies from above.  I’m breaking the rules a bit but I don’t want to leave anyone out.

I’ll be around to each of your blogs tomorrow!!!

Blessings,

Christine

Retirement Cabin

retirement cabinMy Mother needs a retirement card for an old friend that is retiring from a lifelong career as a veterinarian.  When I saw this Squigglefly image I new that it would be great for his card.  Actually, I really want to go to where ever this cabin is.  It’s a beautiful scene!

Of course, I water colored it, added the computer generated sentiment and some dew drops and, it’s a card.  It wasn’t as easy as I make it sound.  It takes quite a lot of time to water color one of these scenes, but I love doing it.

When I was younger, I took a couple of water color classes and gave some paintings away and kept a couple but once the classes were over, I would try to paint but they just didn’t come out very good.  I’ve decided now that my whole problem is that I just can’t draw!  I think I’m doing a pretty good job with the water coloring part but if I had to draw this scene and then paint it, it would look like a storm passed through with trees leaning every which way and the cabin falling down!

In the last few months, I have purchased a number of stamps (digital and rubber) that will work very well with water coloring.  I haven’t gotten a chance to use some of them yet.  I’m going to get the DT cards ready for this week and then I can color some of the stamps I haven’t had a chance to use yet.  Once my niece gets married (Aug 8). I’ll have so much more time on my hands.  Actually, I don’t think I have much else to do for the wedding until a few days before.  I need to make some big bows, but that’s it.  I’m sure other things will come up though so I’ll be ready to help out whenever I can.

Well, that’s enough of my rambling.  I’m going to go make my Chirper card.  I have to wait until daytime to make my Bee Crafty Card because I will need to take some photos while I’m making it (hint-hint).

Blessings,

Christine

My Last Sugary Sweetness

Well, not really my last; but my last as guest dt. I’m sure I’ll continue to use their images often. The challenge this week at Modern Sugar Boulevard is to make a shaped card. I made an octagon shaped card using Welcome Home from the Life's Simple Pleasures collection.

img005I made this card a couple of weeks ago so I’m not sure what the DP is now. I colored the image with water color paints and added some flat back pearls to finish it off. Do you see the little birdie at the front of the scene. I colored him like a robin red breast. You can’t tell very well in the picture. I had to scan it because my camera battery was dead and I couldn’t find the charger!

I cut the card out using the George cart with Cricut Design Studio. Using Design Studio you can “weld” images together which works perfect for making shaped cards. I haven’t purchased Design Studio yet. You can download a free trial copy at the Cricut website but you can only cut with the original cartridge that came with your machine. Since I have a baby Cricut, I can only use the George cartridge.

That’s about it for now. I have another card almost finished so I’ll be back in a few minutes with it!

Blessings,

Christine

Sugary Butterfly

reach_opt

This is my final card for the Modern Sugar Boulevard release.  They were having problems with their computer system yesterday and weren’t able to get the new images up but you can go take a look now.  Besides the images that they gave me to play with, they have several more great images. And there’s good news.  Because of the problems that they were having, they are offering 30% of this weekend.  Just go to the MSB blog and follow the link for the discount!

I used the Reach For It Mama image.  I printed the butterfly in three different sizes then colored them and cut them out.  I used watercolor paints to color both images and the sentiment is computer generated using a Fonts for Peas font.  The paper is DCWV Garden Party stack.  I added some brown jewels here and there for a final touch.  She has a necklace, bracelet and earrings on and I had tiny brown jewels to make her jewelry.

I spent today making note cards to put on the fans that we will be giving out at my niece’s wedding.  The fans will be a welcome gift if the weather holds out like it has been.  Its been the mid 90s clear up to 104 this past week.  It’s good that my brother’s back  yard is on the east side so we’ll have shade in the evening.

That’s it for tonight.  I’ll have my last MSB GDT card tomorrow.  It’s for the weekly challenge.

Blessings,

Christine

Sugary Bacon

As Guest Designer at Modern Sugar Boulevard, I was asked to make two projects with their images.  The Hippie Chick box and this card are my projects.

bring home the baconI mentioned when I posted the box, that she was my inner Hippie Chick.  Well, this is my inner house wife (he-he) which is quite a stretch because I’m not even a wife!  But I do have my kitchen decorated in 50s pink and turquoise.  I have a lot of old, vintage items in the kitchen.

Do you remember the commercial where the jingle was “She can bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan.”  I think it might have been for panty hose or for cigarettes.  Yes, there was a time when people wore panty hose and their were cigarette commercials on television.

Anyway, when this bacon and egg image came out in the first release for the month, the inspiration for this card hit with a bang.

I used prisma colors and OMS to color both images.  The DP is Cosmo Cricket-Girl Friday.  I layered three rows of Coats & Clark rick rack for the ribbon and made a lollipop blossom.  The sentiment is computer generated with a font from Fonts for Peas! I chalked everything to give it a little shabby look.

Oh, I looked it up and the commercial was for Enjoli perfume!

Christine

Sugary Camper

I have another card for you from the Modern Sugar Boulevard new release which you can now purchase at their store website.

growing up_optThis is the Growing Up image from MSB. Isn’t he the cutest guy you ever saw.

I colored him with water colors and used (oh, I hate it when I have to get up and see) the Debbie Mumm Travel matt stack and the little buttons I got at Walmart. I cut the camper and cirle with the Cricut Going Places cart.

The sentiment is computer generated using a font I got at Fonts for Peas. If it’s peas she wants for her fonts she can have all of mine. Just hand me your plate and I’ll scrape them off!!! Yuck! Anyway she has some very cute handwritten fonts that you can download and use for free!

That’s about it! I have one more post and then I hit the shower and get out of here. I’ve errands to run all day.

Blessings,

Christine

Sugary Hope

Wow, it’s Thursday and guess what?  You can now order the new digi images from Modern Sugar Boulevard!!!  And that also means I get to show you the cards and project I made with these images.

If you saw my previous post, you now know that I have a message board that has a calendar on it.  I made the August calendar header for a Chriper project.  I used the new Support Bracelet image from MSB to make the September calendar.

support braclet sept_opt

Now, I know what your thinking.

1.  What does a support bracelet have to do with September?

2.  What does a green bracelet mean?

3.  What does the red bracelet mean?

Well, I’ll answer them all in this post.

support bracelet calendar_optSeptember is a very special month for me.  Not only is my birthday on the 23rd (see the ice cream cone) but I had my heart transplant two years ago on the 7th, signified by the heart (clever huh?).

support braclet board_opt

The red bracelet, of course, signifies heart disease awareness and the green bracelet is for organ donation awareness.  When I received this image, I new exactly how I was going to use it.  I used the Doodler…Show Your Support Image from MSB in combination with the Support Bracelet image.  They are made to go together.

Normally, Doodler is holding an awareness ribbon that you can color for whatever you would like.  I cut that image away using Photo Shop and instead, attached an Organ Donation Awareness pin in its place.  I think I’ve given these pins to almost everyone I know.  They stopped offering them so now I’m hoarding the stash that I have.

I’ll give you the short version of my transplant story.  I was living in Utah awaiting my transplant when I went shopping at Wal-Mart for a pair of slippers that I could wear at the hospital when my phone rang.  I recognized the phone number as being from the University transplant team.  When she told me to come to the hospital because they had a heart for me, I about fainted right there in Wal-Mart.  Instead, I headed to the door as fast as I could (I wasn’t moving very fast at that point; I was pretty sick.) and headed home to get a ride to the hospital.  Once there, they couldn’t figure out what to do with me but they got it all figured out and after hurrying to wait, I got my new heart!  That was the best day of my life!

If you would like to hear more, go to this post.  That’s the longer version.

I’ll be be back in the morning with my cards.  I know it’s already a.m. but my morning usually starts at about 11:00.  What can I say, I’m a night owl!  I told you on Monday that I had been crafting all weekend to show you some lovelies.  I delivered as promised.  Five projects and I still have two more that I can’t post yet.

Well, for some reason, my TV just turned itself off and I can’t get it back on again.  I hope it didn’t die on me or something.  That would be horrible.  I guess that means I need to shut up!

Blessings,

Christine

Doodlecharm Calendar

THIS IS MY SIXTH AND FINAL POST OF THE DAY. Be sure to scroll down to see EVERYTHING ELSE!

I know this is a long post but stay tuned; I have a great hint about applying die cut letters to your projects!!!

At Chirper Challenge, on the weeks between challenges, we are highlighting specific cartridges. This week we are doing the Doodlebug Cartridge.

100_3314a

My project took on many convulsions before I finally came up with this. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this first!!!

100B3320 This calendar is part of a message center that I have in my kitchen. I think I’m going to move it to my craft room though. I think it will be a great place to put some inspiration.

The top is a piece of SEI cardstock with a piece of metal behind it; the middle is a white board with metal behind it and, of course, the bottom is a calendar. It is a blank calendar made of acetate. I also have the same SEI cardstock behind the calendar (with metal behind it).

I’ve had this for about a year and really hadn’t used it very much. When I decided to do this project, it had a hand scrawled “April” on it with “Happy Spring” written on the white board. I’m pretty sure that I' will now keep it updated since it’s so pretty! One of my Modern Sugar Boulevard sneaky peeks is the September header for this calendar. I’m sure there will be some Halloween and Fall challenges out there so I can make the October and November header.

Anyway, about my project. I cut the popsicle out with beige cardstock (like a popsicle stick) using the “ppscl” cut at 5-1/2”. I only have a baby Cricut so that’s as big as I could make it. Then I cut the “ppscl2” cut in pink cardstock. I didn’t think it looked much like a popsicle to me so I applied Versa Mark ink on the whole thing and embossed it with iridescent powder and stuck it onto the base. That’s when this whole thing started coming together.

100_3299 I looked through the Doodlecharms booklet and chose several other images to cut for magnets: a sun, 3 flowers, a sucker (from the Christmas candy), a heart, a lady bug, a slice of watermelon and an ice cream cone. I thought that would probably be enough to mark special days for now. Everything was sprayed with Glimmer Mist or Glitz Spritz (two different brands of basically the same thing) to make it shine. I highlighted the sucker with a white gel pen and added Stickles to the heart. I also put a little heart pearl in the center of the heart after this photo was taken. That’s enough magnets for now but I’ll definitely be needing some more.

100_3304

You know how just about everybody and their dog gives you magnets? I keep them all and hang them inside of my vintage 50s white metal pantry. Both doors are covered with magnets. Most of them from the many phonebooks that land on my doorstep.100_3294

I cut one of the magnets into pieces and used the red really sticky tape 100_3296(I don’t know the manufacturer) to apply pieces of the magnets to the die cuts. 100_3313I cut “Summertime” and “August” out using the Lyrical Letters cart.

100_3300

Now, I have a little trick that I came up with all by myself. Somehow I didn’t get a picture of the first step but you can see what I mean by the photo from the second step.

I place a piece of purple low tack painters tape (I got at Wal-Mart) on my workspace. I tape each end down with another little piece of tape. Then I line all the letters up on the piece of tape, backward and upside down from what I want them to appear on the finished project. I then apply adhesive on to each letter using a glue pen. When the glue dries it remains tacky and becomes temporary. Then I can pick up the tape with the letters attached and make sure that they are where I want them to be.

100_3301 After I have everything the way I want it, I apply glue a couple of letters at a time and apply them to the project. If you do too many letters at a time, the glue will dry before you get them on the project.

Does that make any since at all? It sounds very time consuming but it really isn’t. It really helps to take the time to make sure your project looks more professional.100_3309

With the “August,” I applied it while the glue was temporary. That way, if I choose, I can use it for another summer month!

100_3313

Here’s a close up of the finished project. Like I said, I’ve had this board for a long time and it feels good now that its all decorated and pretty!

Well, I guess that’s enough! Quite a long winded post, huh.

By the way, it is still very HOT in my neck of the woods. It was 104 today and its supposed to “cool down” to the upper 90s. Uhgggg! I need to go to the store but I’m waiting until later so it might be cooler. Last time I did that it was still 98. At least by the time the sun is going down and it feels cooler!

Oh, I almost forgot. Here’s my Chloe while I was messing with my camera while loading these pictures.

100_3411 I cut all her hair off a couple of weeks ago. Ya, I did it all by myself. You can tell because it’s so uneven!!! I don’t have the heart to pull those scissors out in front of her again! She doesn’t like it but she’s a good girl and puts up with me.

Blessings,

Christine

JustRite Shabby

THIS IS MY FIFTH POST OF THE DAY. Be sure to scroll down to see my Fluttery By Wednesday card.

For those of you looking for my Chirper Challenge post, I’ll be back later tonight with it. Sorry, I forgot to do it. :-(

Can you believe it! I’m back to making more than DT cards and able to enter a few challenges. The last couple of weeks I didn’t even have time to see if my DT cards met any other challenges. I {heart} doing challenges.

When I saw the Card Positioning System challenge this week I knew I would be taking part. In my Flutterby post earlier today, I talked about JustRite Stampers. They are sponsoring the CPS challenge this week and they have a huge prize. I know I’ll be competing against everyone for this but I WANT IT!!!

7-25CPS

Anyway, the sketch was simple but I changed it up a little to fit my needs. I flipped it upside down and added the lace trim.

Just Right Shabby

I went with the shabby chic look. I only have two sets of JustRite Stampers that I got at Archivers and I really need some more. You’ll see the other set when I show you (probably tomorrow) the thank you gift for my nieces wedding.

Anyway, the really cool thing about Just Right Stampers is that you can make them into just about anything you want. The outside border and the inside sentiment are different “inserts”. I have 3 or 4 borders and three sentiments. I also have monogram initials as well as damask borders for the monogram. You can also buy several sizes of letters that you can spell out to make a border or even on the inside. You can really make them personal. I have a big wish list on their store website. No, I don’t work for them and I’m not on their design them, I just love the concept of their stamps.

Ok, after that commercial break, I’ll tell you about my card. The DP is from the DCWV Old World stack and the lace is from my Mother’s crafty stash. She keeps giving me things that are so much fun to use. This lace is probably over 30 years old. I don’t remember it being on one of my dresses but it was probably on one of my sisters’. It should be a really simple card but, because I don’t own a distresser tool thingy, I did it all with the side of scissors and my craft knife. I even got a little cut on my finger. Don’t be sad for me; I didn’t even feel it until I saw the blood! I hand pleated the lace using my tape runner and my fingers. They’re a little sticky now!. That’s about it!!!

Blessings,

Christine

THIS IS MY FOURTH POST OF THE DAY. Be sure to scroll down to see my Fluttery By Wednesday card.

compuater I have my comments set up so that I will be notified by email each time one of my lovely blogger friends comments on my blog. Mostly because I want to know when each and every one of you write something for me. I LOVE YOUR COMMENTS!

Well, lately (and I don’t know how long-at least a week) I haven’t been receiving all of the emails for each comment. I don’t know if it’s a blogger issue or an email issue but it’s very frustrating. Does anyone else have this issue?

So, I’m trying to figure this out. First thing I’m going to do is set up a new email address to use for my blog. Did I mention I was a computer tester in a previous life? I guess this is me testing blogger issues; they should be paying me!!! Hopefully that will resolve it. If not I’ll go from there.

Anyway, to the point of this post.

1. Is anyone else having issues with blogger not sending emails; and,

2. I’m sorry if I missed any comments. I will be keeping track of all comments in the future.

Blessings,

Christine

Sugar Hippie Chic

THIS IS MY THIRD POST OF THE DAY. Be sure to scroll down to see my Fluttery By Wednesday card.

I’m having a mini giveaway, check it out here.

This post was edited because I found the link to the box tutorial on the Scor Pal site!

I think this is going to be Modern Sugar Boulevard Day. I just noticed that the MSB blog has posted one of my GDT projects. Now I get to show it off to all of you.

hippi chic_optI have wanted this image since I first saw it on MSB. This girl is definitely my inner hippie. Only a few years ago, I drove a Volkswagen bus with HIPPIVAN on the license plates. I wanted FLWRPR but it was taken. I wish I still had it. It was great for camping. When we were camping, everyone called it “The Condo.” Sooooo much fun!

Everything about this box was fun, fun, fun. Of course, I used Modern Sugar Boulevard’s Precious Hippie Chic and I water colored her in my fav colors. I used to own some jeans like these in the 70s.

I got the instructions for the box on the Scor-Pal website. I downloaded the instructions so I can send them to anyone who would like them. I made the bottom part of the box from pink cardstock and the top is made from some tie die looking cardstock from my stash. I think the dp is DCWV but I can’t remember which stack. I cut the flower with the flower2 image from the Cricut Doodlebug cart. I added a Basic Grey button in the middle and finished off with some tiny buttons I got at Wal-Mart.

The little pom-pom fringe is by MulitCraft Imports that I got at Craft Warehouse. I’ve had it for awhile but now that I’ve used it, I NEED more!!! I’ll be headed over there tomorrow to get some more in every color. I hope they haven’t sold out of it yet!!!

Craft Warehouse is on the other side of town but I don’t mind heading over there because that’s the perfect excuse to go to Iceberg.

iceberg shakes

They have awesome food. I always order a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a raspberry chocolate shake. Mmmmmmm! Are you jealous?

You can get these new digi stamps tomorrow in the store.  I’m so happy that I was able to take part in this new release.  I especially love the image I showed yesterday!  By the way, I’ll be posting all three of my projects (notice I said projects, not cards hint-hint) tomorrow.

Tilda’s Scene

I’m having a mini giveaway, check it out here.

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for Flutterby Wednesday

Heather set a two part challenge this week.  1.  Create a scene on your whole card front as that seems to be her favorite way to make cards.   2.  Use no patterned paper or very very little patterned paper in your scene.

I didn’t quite follow these instructions.  I made a scene for Tilda by chalking the clouds and grass.  I even put a little yellow in between the clouds for the sun.

09-07-22_opt

I actually really like how this card turned out but I forgot about the part to put the scene on the whole front.

09-07-22 side_optI took a side shot so you could see all the dimension.  I added foam squares to the background image, some more on Tilda and two foam squares on top of each other on the sentiment.  I water colored Tilda, the buttons are Basic Grey, I cut the background image with nesties.  The sentiment is from Just Rite Stampers.  I love them.  I only have the basic set and a few other pieces but I’ll definitely be getting more.  I could do a whole post on what Just Rite Stampers are all about, but go check out their blog see for yourself.  I think I’m going to get hooked!!!

I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday.  I looked through my list and it fits some other challenges as well.

Everybody Art – dots and stripes

Roses on Paper – summer

Dutch Dare – dies and punches

I have one more card to put together tonight and then I’m going to start again and do it right this time.  I’ll probably get it posted tomorrow!  Hey, maybe I can get into some more challenges by making the scene card.  Who knows!!!

If you would like to play along with the Flutterby Wednesday challenge, you can go check out all of the other lovely DT blogs by clicking on their links on the right sidebar and then going to Danni’s Dreams to link up your card.

I have another Modern Sugar Boulevard sneaky peak for you on the next post, except you will probably have read that first. (he-he)

Sugar Gate

I’m having a mini giveaway, check it out here.

I scheduled this post for yesterday but just realized it hadn’t worked. Sorry!

This weeks challenge at Modern Sugar Boulevard is a sketch challenge with a twist.july 15th sketch

The twist is to only use purple (any shade) with black and white. I colored the In the Flower Garden image in black and white and then colored the flowers in shades of lavender.

lavendar flowersI love the Life’s Simple Pleasures line of of stamps from MSB.

I used the Core’dinations Black Magic cardstock. I love using this stuff!!! I embossed it with my Cuttlebug and then sanded it to bring the lavendar out. I triple matted the image with lavendar, black and then lavendar again. I added some lavendar Dew Drops (you can’t see them very well) and some ribbon and wa-la, it’s a card!!!

It, has been HOT, HOT, HOT here. It was 103 degrees today. Ugh. I really don’t mind sitting in the house and crafting the day away, but poor Chloe. She doesn’t get much play time.

Stay tuned this week because I’ve got lots in store!!! I’ll be crafting all weekend in preparation.

I’m out’a here to take Chloe out to throw her ball around! That’s her favorite thing to do!

Blessings,

Christine

Bee Floatin’ the River

I’m having a mini giveaway, check it out here.

 floatin image

Have you seen the new summer images at Bee Crafty? They are oh so cute!!! I’m not sure if I’ve seen them all yet, but the ones I’ve seen are adorable. I had so much fun coloring Summer Ducky!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Where I live. in Boise, Idaho, we have a somewhat calm river that runs through the middle of town, the Boise River. During the summer time, on any warm/hot afternoon, you will see people floating down the river in a variety of implements -- rafts, tubes, you name it!!! I bet their were traffic jams this week with the temps near or above 100 Fahrenheit!

Floating the River This little girl looks like she's ready to float down the Boise River. I've never floated the river. Maybe one of these days. But since I've gone 52 years without doing it, I doubt I will!

I colored her with Prismas and OMS. The DP came from a RAK and the flower is from my stash. The sentiment is Hero Arts (I think) and the little swirl and the brads are from Oriental Trading.

Now, head on over to Bee Crafty and see all of the other adorable summer time images and what each of the lovely DT members made! Every two weeks we have a challenge and you can use any digi image to enter. The challenge this time is Summer Time and I’m sure you’ll want to get one of these cute images to use in your creation!

Christine

Button Mushroom -- Crafty Muse Challenge

I’m having a mini giveaway, check it out here.

crafty muse due 7-15

The challenge at Crafty Muse this week is to use this picture as inspiration.  All I can say is Yummy!

When I saw this picture, I knew what image I wanted to use -- Mushroom House.

100_3234I tried several things for this card but I just didn’t have the correct mediums to color it with.  I first tried coloring with Prismas and OMS and it’s really hard to put that huge area of saturated color with pencils.  I have Bic and Sharpie markers in every color but they bled through the paper and didn’t give me crisp lines.  I knew that I would have issues with color saturation for watercolors so I decided to paper piece!  After that decision, easy peasy.

100_3233

I printed the image on the reverse side of two colors of paper from the DP from the DCWV Green paper stack and the cut them out.  I also printed one on white cardstock, cut out the windows and colored them with Prismas.

I think the buttons add a whimsical touch to the mushroom (get it, button mushroom?).  I added a little rick rack and a couple more buttons from by big white button bottle.

I used the Sketch Saturday sketch.  After making the card I had a lookie see of all the challenges and it also fits.  Raspberry Ribbons is is circles and Paper Play is favorite candy (of course, chocolate).

So come one over to Crafty Muse and play along.  You don’t have to use a Crafty Muse image but, why not, they’re so much fun to work with!  Plus, if you do, you’ll receive two entries for a chance to win!

Blessings,

Christine
