Guest of honour was the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang haji Ahmad bin Haji Jumat. The event chairman was the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Awang Haji Jemat bin Haji Ampal.

Youth Development Centre held a certificate presentation ceremony at its premises yesterday for a Short-term program for term 2007-2008 at the Centre in Tanah Jambu.
Amongst other aim of the ceremony, is to give a sense of self-confident as well as to encourage & motivate the recipients while supporting them in discovering their true potentials & abilities and also as an appreciation for them who have completed the course.
A total of 54 participants took part in various programme, 41 from the Asy-Syifa while 7 took part in a programme designed for retiring ABDB personnel & 6 others from the short programme.
Present as the guest of honour to hand over the certificates was the acting director of Youth and Sports department, Yang Mulia pengiran Haji Sabri bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad. He highlighted on the alarming rise in social ills amongst youths.

World Aids Day is annually observed on December 1. On this day, communities around the world honour & commemorate those lost to AIDS & those who continue to live with the effects of HIV / AIDS. World AIDS Day is also used to mark the achievements made, & the work still to be done in the fight against HIV / AIDS, raise money, increase awareness, fighting prejudice & improving education.
According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.2 million people living with HIV, including 2.5 million children. Around 95% of people infected live in developing nations.

Tomorrow Body shop will mark the World AIDS Day by collaborating with the Brunei AIDS council at the Malls atrium concourse in Gadong. Public are urged to wear anything red to show support & concerns towards combating this epidemic.

Our country will become host for the 6th BIMP-EAGA Friendship Games to be held from the 28th till the 30th of this month (November). With the theme of "Cooperation Through Sports", it is hope the games will foster frienship across the region. The participating countries includes our country Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and a team from Australia. The games are competed by athletes 21 years old & below. This i believe will give the opportunity for coming talents to shine & hone their skills on a higher level. Events are athletics, swimming, badminton, futsal, sepak takraw, pencak silat & tennis.

Tomorrow will be the International GIS Day. GIS Day is a grassroot event that reaches out to our community, to demonstrate the real-world applications & the importance of GIS in our world & business. GIS is the combination of Geography/Maps & Information Technology.
Geography is the study of location, acquiring spatial knowledge & using this knowledge to make an informed decisions. By combining the knowledge with information technology, we have a powerful tool that allows better decisions to be made. GIS is used everyday within business, planning, conservation, transportation, education, health & human services, government & many more industries to help make sure that today's resources are available for tomorrow's residents.
Are we celebrating it since this year is the 10th anniversary. I remember we did last year & marking it with some events held at Taman Soas.

1 retired staff of the Survey Department was celebrated in a ceremony this morning held at the Cadastre BM section. This ceremony was meant to express sincere gratitude and gratefulness of the department for the duty, responsibility and commitment the retiree have had served to the department and the country as a devoted and loyal public servant of the Government of His Majesty Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The ceremony began with the recital of surah Al-Fatihah followed by the Doa Selamat. Certificates of appreciation and souvenirs were presented by the Guest of Honour, Deputy SG, Awg Hj Ali Bakar Hj Kassim. Among others who attended this ceremony were the Senior Surveyors, Officers and staffs of the Survey Department.
This was followed with a presentation of donations contributed by the staff and personnel from the Survey Department to the intending haj pilgrims, Awang Hamidun Ismail & Mohd. Eddy Iswardi, who are going to perform the Haj this year. We wished them a safe journey & hoped they would achieve the 'Haji Mabrur', the highest level of haj a pilgrim could attained.
10 students accompanied by a senior lecturer from UBD's faculty of Arts & Social Science, Dr Kazimierz Becek, made an educational visit yesterday to Survey Department, particularly the Cadastre unit. A brief introduction was delivered to the visitors by Chief Technical Assistant Hj Masmin Hj Othman, who briefed them on the unit's mission & core values.
He explained to them the scope of Cadastre unit operations, such as registration and survey information, as well as Computation process and Point Data Base operation. They also heard an indepth overview on Survey Field Data process delivered by Hj Ariffin.
Dr Kazimierz Becek said that it was good for his students to have such visits so they can learn directly from the people involved in the industry. It is an added value to the undergraduates learning experience by exposing them to some of the elements of traversing and coordinates as well as map making.
The visit will also hoped to strengthened the industry-academic link & foster a mutually beneficial alliance.

The convention is divide into two sessions i.e. the closed & open session. The closed session was held from 8-23 last September. Meanwhile for the closed session, it runs for 3 days from today till the 5th November. Todays session sees a total of 10 teams presenting their projects.

Nikki atau nama sebenar nya Nikhaszahar bin Ibrahim adalah seorang pelukis jalanan berpengalaman melukis untuk majalah Gila-gila serta Ujang.
