She lost it on the bus ride home from school. Her friend, Cara, came screaming off the bus saying "Liz, Liz, Lilly lost her tooth!"
Lilly then climbed off the bus holding her bloody tooth in her hand (gross).
She showed it to me and then dropped it on the road. Her friend picked up the tooth and put it back in Lilly's hand (double gross - why do kids think it's ok to touch bloody teeth?).
We went home and promptly put it under the pillow for a tooth fairy (wrapped in a paper towel). Lilly was very upset that she didn't have any tissues in her backpack. She insisted that we go to the store and buy her an individual pack of kleenex to keep in her bag for the next time she looses a tooth on the bus.
The tooth fairy came last night and left one dollar under her pillow.
Jim thought a dollar was too much.
Inflation.

Cute pictures of Lilly!! Teeth are gross, teeth falling out are even more gross. A dollar seems right, I think I got a quarter 20 years ago...

I always have the kids leave a note on the bathroom mirror then when the tooth fairy checks her hair she knows just where you are. Can't tell you how many times that has "saved us " over the years. AND yes a dollar is a small amount compared to ome kids. My guys are always thrilled with a dollar. Now a molar is worth more for future reference.
We do a dollar too, though if she would need some pulled for braces or something I think we would up it ;)
We left 2 dollars- just for the first tooth. (It was torture to convince Olivia to let us pull it out, so bribing needed to happen.) Olivia didn't earn hers until the last week of first grade. Lilly is getting major cool points at school for losing a tooth so early!
