Mademoiselle and Bon Appetite Kaisercraft Collections and a Sad Farewell

Hi everyone,

When I opened my parcel of Kaisercraft goodies, I instantly fell in love with the 'Mademoiselle' collection.  The soft pinks and creams with the vintage theme are a perfect match for my shabby chic style, so I decided to create 2 layouts and a thank you card with this gorgeous range.

 “Cherish”

For this layout I wanted to create a soft and dreamy feel, by using the creamy coloured pp's which I combined with hints of pink.  My background was stencilled with the pretty Damask Quarters Template and texture paste and whilst the medium was wet I sprinkled with some shabby embossing powder and heat set.

The gorgeous large flourishes decorative die (one of my all time favs) goes beautifully with this shabby chic feminine collection.

“Time Has a Wonderful Way of Showing Us What Really Matters” 

 To create my background, I have used the lovely crackle template and accented the masking with microbeads for added texture.  

I love to mix my Kaisermists to create new colours, and have made a soft pink and soft brown by mixing my Kaisermists with a touch of white.  I combined white with candy to create a pastel pink, and white with coffee to create a soft brown.  I sprayed my background with water then applied the soft pink mist with a brush to create a watercolour effect.  Once dry, I flicked over with white and soft brown mist.

How pretty is the new detailed doily decorative die!! I teamed it with fussy cut flowers and butterflies to frame my photo.

“Garden Fresh”

Trying to find photos to go with the 'Bon Appetit' collection, I came across these old pics of Brittany with her Aunty Jen picking greens and veges from the vege patch for our dinner.  Whilst we were on holidays, she took great delight in venturing out every day to forage in the garden.

The green leafy botanical pp's caught my eye and teamed with the lovely woodgrain pp went beautifully with my photos.

I used Kaisermists toned down with a bit of water to paint my vege collectables.

Altered Notebook “Recipes”

My daughter is constantly asking me to write out her favourite family recipes. so I decided to create a quick and easy little Recipe Notebook to record them in and keep for that time in the not too distant future when she leaves the family nest.  I just purchased an inexpensive notebook which I covered, then used the cute little tabs and stickers from the 12x12 sticker sheet to decorate.

Kaisercraft DT - June Creations with Boho Dreams and Just Landed

Hi everyone, Cathy here sharing my creations for Kaisercraft today, with this month’s newly released collections – the fun and funky ‘Boho Dreams’ and the fabulous travel themed ‘Just Landed’ range.

First up is ‘Boho Chic’ and I have created a layout and 2 cards with this Collection, using a fresh and crisp white background to accent the pretty mint green and peach papers from this gorgeous range.

“Chase Your Dreams”

My beautiful Brittany has recently updated her look by chopping off all her luscious locks.  I have to admit, I was a bit upset at the thought of her cutting off her gorgeous hair, but it does suit her! A new look, to coincide with the new direction and changes in her life at the moment.

I love combining peach and mint green together, and when accented with white, you create a lovely fresh and crisp feel.  To create a bit of dimension I tore and layered my pp’s, then added some stamped elements, which I softened by flicking over with Apple and Peach Kaisermist.

I am totally in love with the Large Flourishes Decorative Die… just perfect to create a touch of greenery to add to your flower clusters!!

I have created 2 pretty cards with matching envelopes, again using the peach, mint green and white colour combo.

“Kind Heart”

OMG how gorgeous are the feather elements in this range… to die for!!  I tied a length of the Natural String around the feathers from the 12x12 Sticker Sheet and knotted the ends.  I then added a couple of the fussy cut feathers from the Dreamcatcher pp to the ends to create the illusion of movement.

“Always in my Heart”

I was drawn to the boho girl in the pack of matching Collectables and decided to use her to create my 2^nd card.  To make her pop I backed her with the tag from new Thank You Tag Decorative Die which I topped with a Natural String bow.

I have also used the new Tiny Hearts Embossing Folder which I sanded back to accent the hearts and tie in with the sentiment on my card.  The boho girl is actually holding a camera, so to keep to the heart theme, I backed the wooden Heart Flourish with pp and covered the camera… isn’t she just so sweet!!

My son Luke recently went overseas to Japan and I have been meaning to scrap some of his holiday pics, so when the ‘Just Landed’ collection showed up in my parcel of goodies, I was thrilled!

“Big City Fun"

I love a black and white colour combo, but couldn’t resist adding a hint of fun colour to the Subway pp, by colouring in the station stops with gel pens in a few vibrant primary colours.  Keep a look out for the release of new Kaisercraft Gel Pens in July.  They will come in a set of 48 gorgeous colours, packs of 12 colours or single pens, so you can choose the colours you would use most!!

Kaisercraft DT - Sea Breeze and Cottage Rose Collections

Hi Cathy here sharing my creations with this month’s gorgeous new Collections from Kaisercraft – Cottage Rose and Sea Breeze. 

I am loving the Cottage Rose collection, which has a pretty shabby chic feel with beautiful floral, damask and weatherboard patterned papers… just a gorgeous collection all around!!

“Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful”

For this layout I went to town with fussy cut flowers from the beautiful ‘Floral Bouquet’ pp, which I layered with a few Collectables and stickers from the 12x12 Sticker Sheet, creating a pretty cluster to surround my photo.

“Wedding Day” - Altered 8”x10” Frame

The papers from the Cottage Rose collection have a lovely old-world dreaminess to them, and just perfect for creating an altered frame to showcase a wedding photo. The new glitter cardstock adds a lovely touch of sparkle to the main flower cluster… so many gorgeous colours to choose from!! I diecut the Berry Vine Decorative Die from the pistachio glitter cardstock.  Looks so much prettier in real life!

I have to admit that teal is one of my all-time favourite colours, so when I clapped my eyes on the Sea Breeze collection, I was in love!!  Beautiful flowers mixed in with a lovely variety of pretty patterned papers and contrasting black and white to make the teal colours pop and you have a collection which is a pure delight!!

”Happiness"

OMG how gorgeous is the Speciality Ripple Gloss Paper from the Sea Breeze Collection!!  Pull out a couple of co-ordinating mists and you have a stunning background created in an instant!!  I chose to combine the Turquoise with the Wisteria Kaisermists to create a luscious contrast against the white background, then flicked over this with the Winter Grey Kaisermist to create a little more depth, and a touch of sparkle with some lilac rhinestones.

For my title I diecut the happiness word from the new release Decorative Die Word Set  – Happiness in violet Weave Cardstock to make it pop and tie in with the wisteria Kaisermist.

”Special Memory”

I chose to use the other gorgeous Specialty Diecut paper from this range to create my second layout, as I loved the weatherboard teamed with the pretty blooms… no need to pull out my scissors for fussy cutting here, as I used some of the beautiful blooms from the Collectables.

I love to distress and grunge up my creations, as it adds a layer of texture and dimension, so for this layout I cut random slits in the Specialty Paper and distressed the edges so that you can see the pretty background paper peeking through.  The Paper Blooms were given distressed finish by flicking with a touch of turquoise Kaisermist, then dipping the edges of the flower in gesso and sprinkling the wet gesso with aged embossing powder… hard to see in the pictures, but it looks really pretty and very shabby chic. 

One of the other techniques I love to use to create a distressed/shabby look, is to sand the edges of my papers and photos to expose the white core using one of my favourite tools – the Kaisercraft Sanding Block!!  I love the illusion of dimension this creates on my layouts.
