Sketchy Fred in Flight

I have this problem - I have more stamps than time! It's pretty serious, but a good problem to have!

Fred Bear is a new character for MFT that was introduced last month and I hadn't had time to ink him up before now. I used some more Basic Grey Origins paper and a layout from Taylor's sketch challenge.

I distressed the edges of each square and stamped the sentiment directly onto the patterned paper. There's a bit of hemp thread tied around the sentiment square as well. From the moment I saw this stamp I knew that the fuzzy parts of his jacket were screaming for liquid applique. I also used an old washcloth with some blender solution dabbed on Fred himself for the fur texture and his goggles and nose are covered with clear glaze pen.

Pleated Sweet Birthday Girl

Hey friends!! I finally had a chance to play along with Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge. Loved her sketch and it was perfect for this little Pure Innocence girl. The patterned paper is from Stampin Up's Sweet Pea pack and the strip down the side is from My Mind's Eye. I pleated some ribbon and added a Doodlebug paper frill for the sketch elements. Those are glittered garnishes in the corners and there are some rhinestones on the flowers and the sentiment too.

Speaking of Pure Innocence - did you see the freeze frame Kim posted today?! Swoon!! I love that little girl in the bathtub! Can't wait for release day!

Sketchy Tree Swing!

Hey friends! Did you have a good weekend? I had a great one - purging, cleaning and organizing! I love getting rid of stuff that we don't use anymore! Now to tackle the yard work!

I did have time for a quick card. I still hadn't used this Pure Innocence stamp (Boy & Dog Tree Swing) from last month's release and it was perfect for this week's MFT challenge. I cheated a bit as we were to use a stamp with a tree - this one has a tree branch, that counts right?

I paired some denim paper with some Basic Grey Origins paper and twill. The layout is from Jen's sketch for you to try. I sponged and distressed most of the layers and stamped the sentiment on some twill and cut it into a banner shape.

Two of my fave Stampin Up demos are having an all day stamping event in a couple of weeks. I'm tickled that they asked me to do a technique demonstration (and a bit nervous too as I'm not a demo!). Sketchy Cooking and Cleaning!

This card is so appropriate to how I've been feeling these days!! I love this set from Darcie's and the sentiment is so true - I understand the concept of cooking and cleaning....just not how it applies to me. I have an itch to spring clean these days but so far am not being very successful!

I used Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl papers and Taylor's sketch challenge for the layout.

Birthday Princess

Hey friends! I haven't been posting because I haven't been stamping! I've had a very sore neck since Easter and haven't been able to sit and stamp. However, I had this image already done from the last MFT release and wanted to put it to good use. When I saw Mercy's sketch this week I knew I could use it!

This Pure Innocence Birthday Princess is stamped on a MFT Perfect Panel and I paper pieced her hat and dress with some Doodlebug paper. I paired it up with some Melon Mambo and Soft Suede cardstock. Like I mentioned, the layout is from Mercy's Tuesday sketch challenge.
I also made a little tealight cake to match my card. I found this idea in the Splitcoast Stampers gallery and was so tickled! I've been making quite a few of these rolled flowers lately and love how they turn out.

I get to show you Jolinne Sitting Pretty! She's just so gorgeous - reminds me a bit of my daughter (who loves hats and dresses!).

I stamped Jolinne on a MFT Perfect Panel and colored her with copics and cut her out. She's layered on some nesties and patterned paper from DCWV Nana's Nursery. I used some Doodlebug paper frills over the ribbon as well as in the corners and on Jolinne's hat. I also added some baby braddies in the middles of the flowers. I created a ribbon rose and added some die cut leaves. This card will be perfect for a birthday party my daughter is attending next week.

MFT Teasers - Clearly Sentimental About Babies

Today I have a project that uses Clearly Sentimental About Babies - a new set being released tonight by My Favorite Things. This is actually this month's Triple Scoop set, which means that you can't buy it yet, but you can get it free when you buy three full size sets (or six mini sets). It's full of all kinds of amazing sentiments, perfect for both the outsides and insides of cards.

I decided to make a little gift for a friend of mine who's expecting a baby girl. I used this template of Jody's and made a cupcake box.

I used some more Doodlebug paper and the matching Bazzill cardstock. I absolutely love this sentiment that I put on the lid of the box - it really resonates with me. I embellished with some K&Co. felt flowers.

Since I need to ship this gift, I obviously don't want to send a real cupcake. So I created some cupcakes out of baby socks. It took six pairs of socks to make these four cupcakes. I altered Jody's template slightly to make my insert fit 4 mini cupcakes, instead of 1 full sized.

MFT Teasers - Jolinne!

Are you ready for some new Jolinne images? There are two new ones this month from My Favorite Things and they are both so pretty!

For my card today I've used Jolinne Sweet Spring (being released Wed. night). I picked up this Memory Box Frond 6x6 pad of patterned paper and thought it was perfect for Jolinne. I paper pieced her dress with one pattern and used a couple others for the sky and ground. This card is actually a slider card - as you pull the insert out to the right, Jolinne dances across the ground. Here's the card closed:

I found the tutorial for this type of card here and I think it's fabulous! I used another pattern of the same paper for the insert of the card (I love the way the flower blooms as you pull it out!). Isn't that a pretty font for the sentiment? This set comes with accessory images and some great sentiments.

MFT Teasers - Pure Innocence!

I hate to be biased, but I just love these Pure Innocence images by MFT and there are 4 being released on Wed. night (3 sweet girls and 1 boy & his dog). I have one project to show you today and a couple more completed for the release party. Come and check them out Wednesday night from 8-10pm in the MFT forum on Splitcoast Stampers.

I created a little gift ensemble with some yummy Doodlebug paper that I've been hoarding.

My kids love ice cream sundaes, but they're kind of funny about them cause they only like vanilla ice cream and sprinkles. No chocolate sauce, whipped cream, or any other toppings! So we always have lots of sprinkles on hand. I made this little holder and tucked a couple bottle of sprinkles in it. I found the template here.
Here's a view of the tops - I punched some decorative tops for the bottles.
And here's the matching card. I used various Doodlebug papers and arranged them patchwork style - which also fits into this week's MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge (full details here). I added some ribbon and glittered garnishes, as well as some Doodlebug letters.

MFT Teasers - Hello Millie!

Welcome to Day 2 of MFT Teasers for April! Today MFT is giving you peeks of two new characters. I have a card with Millie the Mouse. She's illustrated by Christie Beckwith (who illustrates Who's That Girl and Flopsey) and she is cute!!

I thought I'd give you a quick tutorial of how I like to do my flocking. Before I found this method, I had been using my Quickie Glue Pen. It gave pretty good coverage, but this method gives amazing coverage. Hope you'll hang in with me 'cause this post is picture heavy! You can skip straight to the bottom for my card.

For Millie, I'm using Caramel Latte Fun Flock and the first thing I need to do is find some cardstock that is close to the same colour. Here I've paired it with Stampin Up's Close to Cocoa.

You only need a piece of cardstock big enough for your image (ooh look - there's Millie!).
Then you need some double sided sticky sheets. I had this on hand, but I also love this stuff that Jody sells, or I know that Stampin Up has some as well.
Cut a piece to the size of your cardstock and adhere one side of the sticky sheet to said piece of cardstock.
Remove the backing from the other side of the sticky sheet and dump your flock over top.
Press, press, press!! Press hard and rub the flock into the adhesive (note to self - get a manicure! Yeah right!).
Tap off the excess flock. You'll need to rub it lightly to get off the loose stuff. This is what it looks like at this point.
Stamp your image onto the fuzzy cardstock. Make sure you're using a juicy ink pad.
I cut my mouse body out. When I do this (even with simple paper piecing) I like to line the edges of the image with a black pen to cover the edges and further define the image.
Here she is on my card. I coloured her nose with a pink prismacolor pencil and went over her mouth with a black glaze pen.
Here's my finished card! I used some Stampin Up Sweet pea paper and pierced the dashed lines for some dimension. I layered some ribbon and fun trim and coloured some rhinestones with an orange copic marker to match.

MFT Teasers - Thanks a Bot!

Welcome to the first day of MFT Teasers for the April release! Today we're previewing A Bunch of Bots. This set includes the cutest bots and the sentiments are fabulous!

For this card I decided to go monochromatic. Lots of shades of grey and silver. I used some old Basic Grey paper and stamped my image in versamark and embossed with silver embossing powder. I love the way the background panel turned out - I used In the Background and stamped it the same way - versamark and silver embossing powder. I coloured my 'bot' in with grey copics and shaded him with a white prismacolor pencil to make him pop.
