Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge # 9 - The Sound of Music

Hi Everyone! Whoohoo! I created a card for Sankari and Brooke's Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #9 - The Sound of Music!! I've been wanting to play since they started their challenge blog! Well, I finally stuck to the plan and created this card. Sankari will be proud of me! LOL!

I posted my card on this blog site rather on Stampin Inspirations because there is absolutely no rubber stamping on this card. I had computer generated the sentiment and the dresses are scrapbook embellishments by Jolee's by You.

This week's challenge is to create a card based on the movie "The Sound of Music". Oooh, one of my favorite movies. I don't like to watch a movie more than once but "The Sound of Music" is an exception. I think I've watched this movie at least once every year since I first saw it as a child. Really! I guess because well, it's one of those movies that is shown on TV every year and we also have the DVD.

Although I love all the songs in the movie, one of my favorite is "So Long, Farewell" so my sentiment on my card is based on that song. It has sad undertone to the song but there's a sense of innocence to it from a child's point of view. I also love the song "Edelweiss". . .both sad but beautiful songs.

I created this card with the dresses because I really loved the pretty dresses that Maria and the girls wore and the dresses on my card reminded me of them. I wanted the card to be somewhat elegant so I kept the design colors at a minimal.

I would have preferred a different colored dress or color combo but these dress embellishments were the only ones I had.

Anyway. . .be sure to stop by and check out the challenges! They are really fun!!

Card Details:

Papers: SU Lovely Lilac (I think), Orchid Opulence, Glossy White Cardstock
Accessories; Jolee's By You scrapbook embellishments, Satin ribbon, Silver Metallic Cord, Blue Moon metal charm, SU Ticket Corner Punch, CB embossing folders

Noel Card

Hi Everyone!! Wow, it's been almost a week since I last posted on this site. I've been busy working on a few rubber stamping projects on my other blogs so i didn't have the time to create any scrappy projects but I decided to allot some time to create something for this blog!!

Hey. . .I've been a really good girl!! I haven't bought any designer paper for almost a month! No way! Yup!! I also haven't bought any new embellishment. Actually this chipboard images and alphabet was the last item I bought. It's a package of DCWV Chritmas chipboards.

I've noticed that I've been primarily making 5.5x5.5" square cards lately. It's because there's a larger area to add more things. Sometimes it's hard to fit embellishments like alphas and large images on a 4.25 x 5.5" card.

Do you see the silver cord? Well I wanted to create something different so I tied bows on the cord. . .they sorta look like flowers. I like it because it's something I've never done before.

Anyway. .. if I don't post on this blog. . .it's usually because I have obligations for my two other blogs like my stamp club and my design team obligations but I'll make an effort to squeeze in some time to make some scrappy projects!!

Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!!

Card Details:

Papers: My Minds Eye designer paper, SU Baroque Burgundy, Speckled White cardstock
Accessories: Fiskar Cloud Scissors, DCWV Christmas chipboards, Organdy ribbon, Silver cord

CASE'd My Own Card

Hi Everyone!! For the past cards I've posted, I thought something was odd about the quality of my pictures. . .sort of grainy. Well, on Friday, my daughter asked me to drop off her camera to school because she forgot to bring it (the exact same camera as mine) and I couldn't find it in her room. While in my craft room, I realized I had 2 cameras and lo' and behold, one of them was my daughter's camera. For the past few weeks, I was using her camera which is on a lower quality setting. Now it makes all the sense in the world. I couldn't figure out why the pictures looked the way they did and I was beginning to think it was blogger that was having a problem.

Anyway. . .now to my card! I actually CASE'd one of my old cards because I had a customer who wanted me to make the same card for her. Do you know I don't like recreating my cards because many times, I don't have the same materials so I usually don't agree to duplicate a card. Well, I agreed anyway. Luckily, I found similar materials that I could recreate the card.

Are you the same way? I rarely make duplicate cards. . .when I do, it's because I know I have the materials available to make more than one or two duplicate cards.

I also made another card that this person requested. . .again, I CASE'd a card I made months ago. This time, I didn't have any of the materials that were on my original card but I made it as close as possible as the original card. I'll post it next time.

Card Details:
Papers: DCWV designer paper
Accessories: Ribbon (Michaels), Heidi Swapp heart chipboard, Fiskar scallop border punch, JoAnn metal/vellum tag, JoAnn heart brads

Paper Craft Magazine Inspired Card

Hi Everyone! This card was inspired by a card I saw in the Paper Crafts December issue. Do you still buy magazines? I still do but I rarely see a card in the magazines that inspire me. I buy the magazines because I sometimes look at them before I go to bed or if I'm somewhere that requires me to wait, like the doctor's office, etc. I like to look through the magazines to kill time. I do have a laptop that I could probably bring to bed but it's too cumbersome to do that.

I created that circle border using Fiskar's Circle border punch. I'm not sure the name of the exact design. Fiskar now sells an oval border punch. I almost bought it today but decided that I need to use my circle ones first before buying a new punch.

Can you believe it but it took me 2o minutes to look for a sentiment that matched my card's color. Argggh! I should have just created a sentiment on my computer but I have a lot of sticker sentiments, it's a matter of looking for the right one.

I adhered the sticker on to a metal label embellishment made by Colorbok and attached it to my card using Making Memories daisy brads.

Nothing much else to discuss about this card. Hope you all have a fabulous week!!

Card Details:

Papers: My Minds Eye designer paper, SU Always Artichoke, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Making Memories Sticker sentiment, Grosgrain ribbon, Prima flower, Making Memories daisy brads, Colorbok metal label, Fiskar Circle Border Punch

A Fall Christmas Card

Hi Everyone! Every heard of such a thing? "A Fall Christmas Card"? Who said Christmas cards have to be green and red or gold or silver or blue? How about browns and oranges? I was just using up some of my scrap papers and wanted to do something different.

Anyway, nothing much to the card other than laying out the designer papers and adding a few embellishments. This was a quickie card again. I love these quickie cards. Card making shouldn't have to take hours to make. My limit is 1 hour. I try not to go beyond an hour when I make cards because anythng longer than that, I start to think feel the card needs to be framed and preserved. LOL!

This is a close of the card. Do you see the sentiment? Well, it's computer generated.

Anyway, nothing much else to say about this card.

Card Details:

Papers: DCWV designer paper, SU Really Rust, More Mustard
Accessories: Fiskar Border punch, Satin ribbon, Prima Flower

Happy Thanksgiving Card

Hi Everyone!! I'm sorry I've been MIA for the past week! I've been busy preparing kits for my Stampin Club and getting them mailed out so I had to take a creative break. Well, I'm back!! I'm still working on Thanksgiving and holiday cards.

I bought a package of K&Co Fall die cuts and I'm just trying to use them up or at least reduce them. To help in the process, I made a card using the cornucopia die cut. Nothing much else to the card.

I'm thinking starting the beginning of the new year that I'm going to reduce my blogging time. I spend more time blogging than I do creating! LOL! There's so many things I want to do and create but time seem to be so limited. I try to squeeze as much of my "free" time to craft but for some reason, this time seem to be getting shorter and shorter.
I also want to concentrate on losing weight. Sitting down blogging and crafting well, is very sedentary and I think contributes to my inability to lose weight. I want to lose at least 20 pounds. Arggh!! I've been trying to lose this 20 pounds for years and can't seem to do it.
Anyway, back to my card. . .the picture to the right is a double ribbon bow. I just took two ribbons and created the bow together like one big bow.

This brad is from the Target $1 bin. I think it's such a cute brad and perfect for this Thanksgiving card. It's amazing what you can find in the $1 bins. You just gotta dig through them.
Anyway, I'll work on another holiday card. Maybe Halloween. . .
Hope y'all have a fabulous day!!
Card Details:
Papers: SU Really Rust, More Mustard, Deja View designer paper
Accessories: Photo corner punch, Target brad, K&Co Thankgsiving die cuts, SU 1/4 Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon, Organdy ribbon

Another Fall Thank You Card

Hello Everyone!! Gosh, time is flying by so quickly. I can't believe it's almost the weekend again. Just another Fall card. I really like this DP. . .it can be for any occasion. It has a pretty pattern.

I decided to play with a little considering I bought a lot them when they were on sale. Again, I have issues. Sale. . .don't even say that word to me. I will spend every bit of play money I have if you even mention a sale. I won't buy just one or two of the sale item, I'll buy 10 of them. Like yeah! How many lace do you need, Maria?

Fortunately, it works out really well with this card because the lace has a "scallop" look to it so it matches the scallop cut of the DP.

Do you see the button? Well, how can you miss it. . .it's so darn big! LOL! I bought a bag of buttons at a garage sale and all of them were still in their packages. Whoohoo! It was a steal.

Anyway, just having fun with the DP and the fall colors!!

Hope y'all are having a wonderful day!!

Thank You Fall Color Card

Hiya Everyone!! Just a quicky card I made. . .I have butt loads of Fall designer papers and I really need to start using them. I sometimes wonder what is wrong with me. I have a paper fetish it seems. . . .I can't resist buying designer papers whether I need them or not.

I don't know. . .they just look so pretty. I can't help myself. Unfortunately, I have a lifetime worth of papers and I probably will never use them all.

Okay. . .this is going to sound a bit lame but I had told my husband and kids . . .jokingly. . .that if something ever happens to me, I need them to sell all my craft stuff on Ebay so they can get some money to pay for their college tuition or down payment on their cars. LOL!!

I told them that in no uncertain terms that they sell them at a garage sale or throw them away; otherwise, I'll come and haunt them if they do. Too funny.

Anyway, nothing much to this card so I won't talk about it.

Paper: SU Tangerie Tango, Deja View designer paper, Bazzil cardstock, DCWV designer paper

Negative Side of Yesterday's Card

Hello Friends! Thought you were looking at the same card from yesterday's post, huh! Well they do look alike but they are different. I used basically similar materials but for the second card, I used the "negative" part of the scallop oval shape from yesterday's card.

I am one who does not like to waste. . . anything. If I can create something with scraps, I'll use every little piece. . .that explains why my scrap pile is HUGE! I don't throw away anything.

I have a special affection for my craft materials. I once told my husband that if we ever got a divorce. . .just let me keep my scrap and stamp stuff and he can have everything else! LOL! Too funny! He can have the furniture and all our material belongings as long as I get to keep my crafting stuff.

He thought I was hilarious. . .but he did promise that he would never take away my stuff. When I tell people about my conversation with my husband. . .they laugh too! I don't know what is so funny about it. . .I mean other women will ask to keep their clothes, shoes, and jewelries. . .well. . .it's the same thing. . . I don't care for those sort of stuff. . .well, except for my Coach and Dooney and Bourke bags - I'll keep those. LOL!

How shamefully materialistic! Aren't we all to some degree?

Anyway, back to my card. . .just the same stuff as yesterday's card. Nothing much to it . I again added beads to the butterfly and dressed up my Prima flower. This time I added a metal hardware. I was just having fun with embellishments. . .which I shamefully have a lot of ! Argghh!

Hope y'all are having a fabulous weekend!!

Taking a Break from Halloween Cards

Hi Everyone!! Just taking a break from Halloween cards and projects! I decided to do something non-holiday. The ribbon looks a bit huge on this card but oh, well! I didn't have another green ribbon that matched so I had to use this one.

I don't use my CB embossing folders enough. I think I bought a few several months ago and still haven't used them. Me and sales. . .I buy a bunch of stuff then don't use them.

Anyway. . .just a little detail about this card. . . .can you see the beads on the butterfly? I'm really diggin' beads nowadays. They're so fun to use.

I CB embossed the cardstock then rubbed a bit of ink over it then cut a scallop shape with my Nestabilities Classic Scallop Oval die.

I added a rhinestone brad on to the prima flower. I love those rhinestone brads. It really makes the Primas look so pretty. I made another card using the negative side of the oval scallop. I'll post it tomorrow.

Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend!!

Card Details:

Paper: SU Certainly Celery, Sky Blue, DCWV Eastern designer paper, Primas, Joann rhinestone brads, Nestabilities Classic Oval Scallop die, Marvy butterfly punch, micro beads (unknown), K&Co sticker, CB embossing folder, Offray Ribbon
