Just Because - Thinking of you Owl

Sussann, from the VDBC Creative Team, recently had some bumps with her computer and digital cutter. I am super happy to see she has it back in gear and working again.

This was her most recent card and it fits well with the Just Because theme of this week.

This is what Sussann had to say about her project.
"How cute is this owl?! This is part of a cutter file that was included in Chris Durnan's Quarterly Membership Club. I cut him out, pin-stitched and chalked the edges. I layered him on a torn and inked piece of patterned paper. I stamped the Thinkin' of you! sentiment on a torn, inked piece of cardstock and pop-dotted it on the card."

I really could never make it all happen without the VDBC creative team and awesome forum members.

Thank you Sussann !!

They are just awesome. I hope you enjoy the cute card.

Enjoy! Chris, Visual Designs by Chris

DCWV, Scraps, and a Just Because Card

Hello-

Patricia here, and this is the last day for the Just because card series.  Today, I made a simple card, utilizing my scraps again.   This time, the scraps come from the Performance Stack by DCWV.   I have been using this brand a lot lately, for several reasons:   you can get a lot of projects done from just one stack, especially if you use the 12 x12 stacks.  They are also trendy.  I still love the other brands like Bo Bunny, Basic Grey, and K and Co, but another reason why I like DCWV is durability.  The papers hold up to whatever project you are working on, from cards to mini books to simple scrapbook layouts.   The stacks are always on sale, especially at Joann's  .   Little known fact, DCWV makes the Recollections paper line for Michaels. This paper line is always one sale at Michaels.

Anyway, come on over to my blog, MDN Creates to here more about this card, and how to save a lot of money just by using your scraps, especially on cards.  You will be surprised. Please enter the monthly challenge list below.  You may win a wonderful prize. In the meantime, come back tomorrow for a new theme and to see Vicki's card.  I will talk to you later.

Welcome Back!

Carving your own stamps is fun!
Here is one of the cards I am featuring today that was made from stamps that I hand carved. Check out my blog to see the other cards

The trick is to carve small stamps that can be used together. For example, one leaf or one flower petal. You can then use the stamps in different combinations. When you carve your own stamps, there is virtually no waste, even the smallest scraps can be used.

Carved stamps are never perfect. That imperfection is what is so special about them. And guess what, all your stamps will work together! We each have our own unique style! So, find your style, and start carving!

BTW, always carve away from your hand, fingers or anything else that can be damaged or bleed :)

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for another card and inspiration from Christine Patton.

Until next time,
Laury

Bling, Bling!

Yeppers...lotsa glitter on this gal!

This is the Goldie Stamp from the Loralie Art Stamps that we carry in the store.

CARD RECIPE:
Stamped with Memento Ink on Detail Blending Paper. Used my Copics to color her in...using variations of pink and purple to make the stripes in her overalls. Added opaque white highlights, and some of my AtYou Spica Glitter pens on areas of the flower basked and overalls.

For the card base, I used Autumn Hay Petallics paper, which I stamped with the flower accent stamp that comes with Goldie. I stamped in a variety of reds and orange colors. I then heat set it, just to make sure it didn't smear. I then used my 1/2" Scor Tape, and put a strip of tape, then covered it with glitter. Then repeated this process, using various colors of glitter (light pink, dark pink, and light green.)

I then put small strips of the heart pattern paper from the Pastiche line by SEI. I had the little critter gems from my stash of Joann's embellishments, and the ribbon is one I picked up for a buck at hobby lobby. I used my bow template to make the bow!

Because I used glitter across the whole front of the page, I used the Scor tape to tack the gems, ribbon and stamped image down...as I needed it to be aggressive enough to stick to the glitter strips.

It turned out really cute...and has a LOT of bling!

Hello

I purchased some old books at a yard sale and have been using them as backgrounds to many cards and scrapbook pages.  The french book just seemed to work with these images that I cut out with my klick-n-kut machine.  Hope you like it.

Monogram Card

I made these for Christmas Presents one year, but it can be used for a anytime kind of present. Monogram cards are always useful, and great gifts, I used stampin up's border and scallop punch and I made another mat for the scallop with my klick-n-kut, but you can also use a bigger scallop punch.

Thanks for looking,

Fluer De Lis

I went to Hobby Lobby when they had a sale on cricut stuff so I got this fluer de lis folder, we are a scouting family and always have to send thank you's or Cards for Eagle Banquets, this embossing folder and file is wonderful for that, but it's also very masculine, you can use it for birthday, sympathy, etc. for the male in your life.

I do have this file available at paperthreads click on this link to purchase Fluer De Lis.

Thank you,

Jammin' to Music

Head to any school yard, before or after school, and you'll see the same common site...kids with headphones in their ears and their MP3 players jamming!  Sometimes I think they have it so loud that you can hear their music from a mile away!

Happy Garden Girl....

Sometimes you have to dig in deep and use up those scraps!  lately, I have been promising myself I would not buy new papers until I go through my scrap bins and get those piles down to half their size.  let me tell you, that means I could be making cards every day for a full year using my scraps before I allow myself to buy new paper!  Yes, my scraps piles are THAT large!

I store my scraps in plastic carts, and separate by color groups and then holiday, specialty (like vellum, flocked paper, mirror paper, etc), pattern, stripes (I use a lot of stripes!)  Anyway, we'll see if I can bring the pile of scraps to a more reasonable level!

This stamped image was fun to color....and I found some great scraps in my stash to go with her!
