More Park Fun at MDS Monday

Time for another sketch over at MDS Monday! This week I'm the hostess and I've got a simple little card sketch for you. 

I'm trying very hard to get caught up on my 2013 pages in hopes of printing them off before Christmas... so I ended up making a page, not a card.

We don't travel much, and although we do fun 'special' things now and then, I often forget to take my camera with me (I know, a horrible confession for a scrapbooker!), so my pages have always kind of been an ode to the everyday. This was one of our trips to discover a new park!

Christmas Time for Dynamic Duos

Well, this is it! This is my last week as a member of the fabulous Design Team over at Dynamic Duos. I just want to say a huge thank you to Anne-Marie and Lesley for having me on the team for the past 6 months; and as well to all the lovely ladies I've had the opportunity to get to know and craft with! It's been a blast.

For my last project, I decided to make a Christmas card.

I used the new Special Season stamp set for this one. In fact, I actually used the whole set, and no other sets! It's very rare that I do this. Usually I pull from a couple sets at a time, so it was fun to ink it all up at once :)

The tree is stamped in Perfect Plum on the background panel and then again on a scrap of Whisper White in Wisteria Wonder. Popped a mat onto it and layered it over the darker tree. Using my two-way gluepen, I added some Gold Stampin' Glitter.

The pinecones and sentiment were embossing in gold. I just love this set, and can see myself using it a lot for my Christmas cards this year!

A fun little box for The Friday Mashup!

I'm a little late getting my post up today, but maybe it's because I was trying to prolong the inevitable...!

This is the last week with some of the fabulous DT members at The Friday Mashup; I want to say a huge 'thank you' to Amy, Liliana and Amanda, who have all taught me so much and made me try things I never would have! Amy for her gorgeous layers and always to-die-for bows, Amanda for her cool techniques and thinking outside the box, and Liliana who is queen of the cool backgrounds! We'll miss you ladies. xo

Going out with a bang, Amy has a fab colour combo and a cake theme this week.

While I was crafting at a lovely friend's house, I saw this great box she made sitting on her table. I had to try one for myself. Wouldn't it be perfect for a sweet little birthday gift inside? I'm thinking some jewelry?

Halloween @ Dynamic Duos!

Well, it's just about that time... We've been planning our "family" costume for quite some time now. Hunter wants to be the Mad Hatter and I couldn't be more thrilled! Alice in Wonderland has always been my favourite story - I have a million copies of the book, and in high school even started illustrating my own version of it (that project is still yet to be completed! haha).

So, to set the mood a little, I made this wee little halloween luminary for the boys room for this week's Dynamic Duos challenge. Nothing too creepy, as I want them to be able to sleep still, but just to get them in the spirit.

The boot was stamped and embossed on vellum. I made a super simple box and cut a window from one side. The pumpkins were punched and drawn on, and the 'grass' is burlap ribbon.

The colours this week are Tangerine Tango and Basic Black, with a dessert option of a halloween theme.

Leaves are Falling at The Friday Mashup!

Well, thanksgiving has come and gone and it was an awesome weekend! But now, the weather is getting colder and the leaves are falling... So we're celebrating fall this week at The Friday Mashup with a great challenge from Lili.

I finally broke down and bought the Gold foil paper. Still not sure how to use it, but I'm getting there ;)

At first I had embossed the whole panel gold panel with the woodgrain embossing folder, but I found that it ripped and showed the white behind, so I opted for the Modern Mosaic instead. I didn't want to waste the woodgrain, so I punched some mosaics out with it and popped them up on the panel.

The leaves are two-tone with Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze.

Happy Monday and Happy Thanksgiving (to my Canadian friends!)

We had a great dinner with my husband's family on Saturday, and then had a very non-traditional dinner with our friends last night. Today is all about relaxing.

Today at MDS Monday we have a new sketch from Beth. I turned the card sketch into a scrap page to show off the yummy apple pie I had made. Believe it or not, this is my first time using the Sweater Weather DSP!

I have grown so much, and learned so much in the last few years from all the wonderful people I have met and all the all the creations I have seen. It's appropriate that this post falls on Thanksgiving weekend, as I'm SO thankful to have finally gotten the courage up to start this great adventure :)

Lots of Love for Dynamic Duos

I just loved the colours of this week's Dynamic Duos challenge; Calypso Coral and So Saffron. I wanted to make something a little different than I normally do... Different in that I don't make a lot of 'love' cards ;)

I used the I Am Me DSP, which I love so much. It's got some great subtle patterns in with the fun colours and graphics of the 'busier' papers. 

I did some faux stitching along the edge and used the Best of Love stamp set for the heart. I think finished it off with a few Calypso Coral buttons and there you have it :)

It's getting spooky around here!

Good Friday morning, friends!

I'm so looking forward to Thanksgiving this weekend... I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve! I just love this holiday. So with Thanksgiving just around the corner, it seems slightly odd that I'm skipping over it today and showing you a Halloween card!

This week at The Friday Mashup, Amanda has a fabulous sketch for us and has asked us to make it spooky! I don't have a lot spooky, so I had to make due with what I had.

I punched out the two different sized butterflies and then reinserted them into the Fancy Flower punch to 'chop' off the bottom.

For the background, I wanted to give the illusion of mist, so I made sure to pour the embossing powder over the panel quickly after I did the brayering. It turns out it looks a bit like snow instead of mist ;)

Castle Play for MDS Monday

Oh no! I have been away on business and thought I had scheduled this post. As it turns out, I hadn't. Please forgive my tardiness in getting this out to you.

It's time for a new scrap layout over at MDS Monday! Holly has a fab sketch and the added challenge of a neutral page with a pop of colour.

A little while back I posted a 2-page layout for my son's birthday party. This is for the same son, the same birthday, but this is the actual day :) We got him a super fun castle, and him and his brother played with it for hours! It was so wonderful to see them on either side of the castle playing with each other.

A rustic birthday at Dynamic Duos!

This week at Dynamic Duos we have an absolutely fabulous colour combo - perfect for fall... or masculine... or anything really ;)

It has been forever (and a day!) since I last used Apothecary Art, so I whipped it out for this simple and rustic birthday card.

The background panel is embossed with the woodgrain embossing folder, and I tied a little knot with some linen thread on the end of the burlap to give it a little something extra.

The image was cut out with the label framelits, and I framed it by cutting a second frame the same size as the original and cutting it in half. I just wanted to give a little pop of colour behind the sentiment without putting on another frame altogether.

Finished off with a little popped up banner, et voila!

Today would have been my grandmother's 91st birthday. This is the first "major" occasion since she passed away in May, and I'm missing her a lot today. I knew this challenge would go 'live' on her birthday, so this card was in honour of her. I'm also using her Apple Pie recipe today to bring to an early Thanksgiving dinner we're having with my family :)

All tore up at The Friday Mashup

Good morning!

It's time for anew challenge at The Friday Mashup and this week I am your hostess!

Today, we're all about paper! First, we want you to rip some! Then we want you to cut something out. Both ends of the spectrum this week :)

I used the colours from ColourQ this week. They are just so fun and bright!

My paper ripping is done on the Pumpkin Pie Core'dinations paper, and I fussy cut out that darling little Sea Horse. I've run out completely or Whisper White cardstock, so I opted for some fun canvas today :)
