Jammin' at MDS Monday

It's hard to find the appropriate salutation for a Monday morning...! ;)

This week at MDS Monday, we have a fab card sketch from Rochelle with the addd challenge of using an embellishment we don't normally use.

I've been wanting to scrap these pictures of my boys jamming on the back deck back in July, but just never had the right 'feeling'. Rochelle's card sketch ended up being perfect!

As my 'never used' embellishment, I chose Washi Tape. Sometimes I make my own Washi Tape in MDS, but it's very rare that I use a Washi Tape embellishment.

A birthday celebration!

Hi!

I'm stopping in real quick today to share a little spread I made for my boy's 2nd birthday earlier this month.

We had a construction theme, and we kept the party pretty small/simple, but we didn't skimp on the 'tiny details' :)

I used the MDS kit "bday Under Construction" to make a lot of the decorations, and of course the pages themselves.

Monochromatic Birthday wishes for Dynamic Duos

Hello!

Sorry for the late post of my Dynamic Duos card this week. On top of computer problems today, we've also had a little case of the "Flash Flu"... Inexplicably, almost everyone in the family got super sick, but only for a very short period of time! My oldest son literally looked grey at one point. Pretty terrifying!

I digress...

The colour combo this week is Blushing Bride and Primrose Petals. Lovely combination of pinks!

I used the chevron background stamp to add some interest to the back, and my very favourite flower stamp Stippled Blossoms. I finished it off with some Smoky Slate/Basic Grey accents.

Grateful For...

This week at The Friday Mashup we have a fun challenge from Erica. She has some inspiration for us from her mom!

I have been going back and forth in time so much lately with my scrap pages that I would give the Delorian a run for it's money!

Keeping with the theme of family and fall/harvest, I've scrapped a trip we took with out nephew to Saunder's Farm. It's always a fun place to go in the fall. In fact, we might be going there again very soon :)

Going back in time at MDS Monday

Hello! Today I'm going back in time to scrap a page from January 2012. I'm trying to finish up my 2012 scrapbook, and unfortunately I don't have tons of photos for January-March. JackJack was just wee, and Hunter was 3... Unfortunately, my hands were usually to full to have a camera in them.

But then I look back and think "Oh, why didn't I get more pictures of these handsome men!". Alas, I'll make due with what I have, and the memories too :)

I kept this page super simple.

These pictures were from a trip outside to play at the park in the snow. Jackson was bundled up sleeping in the stroller while Hunter was sliding and making snow castles.

Celebratory Stars for Dynamic Duos!

Well, it's a rainy, lazy Saturday here in Ottawa and we've got big plans to clean, clean, clean! Fun, eh? ;)

I'm taking a quick break to share with you my very CAS card for Dynamic Duos this week!

We're mixing up Crumb Cake and Basic Black with a yummy dessert option of heat embossing!

I reached for the Simply Stars set and my Black embossing powder. I freehanded a fun little border, et voila! It's that easy :)

A fun little card for a congratulations or birthday celebration!

Harvest Paper Piecing at The Friday Mashup!

Wow! What a week. Super excited that it is Friday!

This week at the Friday Mashup, Lisa has a great challenge for us; Fall/harvest theme (which you all know I love) and Paper-Piecing (which you all know I love)! haha.

Needless to say, it was a no-brainer for me.

I'm cashing in my 'think-outside-the-box' card for this week and counting the wheat as my harvest food ;)

The acorn, ribbon around the wheat and the log are all pieced from the Sweater Weather DSP. I love the effect that paper piecing gives.

I punched out the image with the 2-1/2 Circle punch and bordered it with a decorative label. Believe it or not, I resisted the urge to add burlap!

1. Create a project with a "Fall/Harvest Food Theme (Preserves, Apples, Pumpkins, etc)."
2. Create a project using "Paper Piecing"

Christmas Cardinal for MDS Monday!

Good morning!

It's a new challenge at MDS Monday and Joan has a fabulous card sketch with the added challenge of having an image spill over your desired area. I mixed things up a bit for this challenge and used the sketch on the front, and the spill-over on the inside. Have a look-see:

Front

I colours the Cardinal with the colouring tool and was pretty happy with how it turned out. The card as a whole though could use some tweaking I think, but I'm going to have to let it simmer for a bit and see what comes to mind :)

Inside

I wanted to have a very faint image on the inside of the card, so I took the opacity way down.

Happy Thanksgiving for Dynamic Duos!

Oh my! So sorry for my late post today - I was smack dab in the middle of a super fun birthday party for my sweet baby Jack! 

This week at the Dynamic Duos we have a sweet colour combo - So Saffron and Pistachio Pudding.

Again, I'm hitting up the Fall/Thanksgiving cards. Is there anything any better?!  I'm still madly in love with the Magnificent Maple stamp, and of course the burlap ribbon! The background was done by stamping with a clear block in So Saffron. I used the wicked fun Chevron Punch for some extra details behind the sentiment.

Sympathy for the Friday Mashup

Good Friday morning, friends!

This week at The Friday Mashup we have a very special challenge for you. I will let you pop on over and read it for yourself, and I highly encourage you to do so. Thank you Heidi, for a very meaningful and touching challenge this week.

I have made a set of 6 sympathy cards using the Simply Sketched set. They are very simple, but that was the intention. I have done two each of Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette and So Saffron, with Gold embossing.

I tried to find a local infant loss community group in my area to donate this set to, but came up empty-handed. As an alternative, I will be donating these cards to the Richmond Legion (Branch 625), as I have many family connections with this branch and they are very committed to community. I know for a fact that these will get used. The entire Legion community has been there for my family over and over again in the past few years, most recently for support after my grandpa passed away (in 2010) and then my grandmother this May. Both my grandparents were members and were very involved. Now, I still have cousins and aunts/uncles who are involved.

Here is the challenge for you this week:

1. Create a "Thinking of you or condolence card."
2. Create a card/cards and "Donate it to a Charity or Organization of your choice."
3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Thinking of you/Condolence Card and donate it to H.A.N.D.S via Heidi."

Lego Party

Hello!

Time for your digital fix of the day :) Heidi has a super fab scrap layout for us this week at MDS Monday and I took the opportunity to make a page for our little boys 5th birthday party last month.

We had a Lego theme (which really just meant a lot of primary colours and circles!) and it was so much fun. We had set up a photo booth with different masks and lego heads, and everyone participated and had their photos taken - it was so much fun to see the kids all putting on different faces!

I used these pictures in the film strips that run across the page.

For the lego pieces, I used a square punch for the base and circle punches for the 'nobs'. I coloured them the same colour as the block and added a heavy drop shadow. I considered finding the Lego font and adding the name to all the nobs, like real Lego, but I opted for keeping my sanity instead :)

Coffee and Friends at the Dynamic Duos

Happy Saturday, friends!

It's time for a brand new challenge at Dynamic Duos and this week we have a fabulous colour combo for you; Old Olive and Pacific Point. 

I was feeling like I hadn't used the wonderful Perfect Blend set in WAY too long, so that was my go-to for this challenge. I threw in Early Espresso for my neutral this week to give it a bit of 'edge' ;)

I embossed a piece of Pacific Point Core'dinations paper with the Argyle EF and sanded it down to give texture. I then used the Off the Grid stamp to give a little extra something to the panel for the coffee cup (mmmmcoffeeeee). I wanted to use the Washi Tape from the holiday catalogue, so I ripped some off and used it to 'attach' my panel. I finished it off with some White Candy Dots, et Voila!

Halloween Washi Tape!

It's all about the Washi Tape over at The Friday Mashup this week! Holly has a great challenge for us to use Washi Tape and make some notecards (3 x 3).

Now, I'm going to be completely honest, I'm not typically a Halloween fan... I hate being scared! hahaha. Now that I have kids though, I have come to embrace at least part of it. They just look so darned cute all dressed up! 

So, here I am, taking the plunge and creating Halloween cards :)

The Mummy was made using the Crumb Cake Washi Tape from the This and That set - once I tore all the edges, I rolled them up slightly with my thumb and then sponged with some Chocolate Chip. 

Frankenstein's hair is done using the Washi Tape from the Witches Brew set in the Holiday Catalogue. 

The spider web was from the Halloween Painter's Tray kit from last year. I used a little button as the spider's body and ran some of the orange chevron Washi Tape behind the sentiment.

1. Create a project with "Washi Tape"
2. Create a "set of 3x3 Quick Note Cards"
3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Set of 3x3 Note Cards using some Washi Tape"

Sent with Love for MDS Monday

Time for a new challenge at MDS Monday! This week, we have a card sketch from Holly. When I was making this card, I was missing a lot of people... I was missing my mom (the very best in the world!), I missed my dear friend who went home to visit her family for a few weeks, and I was missing my sweet grandma.

Since then though, I've spent many wonderful evenings with my dear friend, AND I got a call from my mom last night telling me she had just arrived in town for a surprise visit!! Colour me happy :) I also went through a very therapeutic exercise of reminiscing while looking at some photos of my grandma.

All in all, I'm in a much better place now when I'm posting this than I was when I was making it. I'm going to have to print off a few of these bad boys to have on hand for the next time! haha
