I have always wanted to learn to etch glass. There are so many possibilities for home and office decor that I believe I could write a book about it. There's only one problem: I have always hated the mess, odor and possible side-effects of the etching creams I've used in the past, so I haven't played with it very much. Well, those days have ended, my friends. My first project with B&B Etching Products, Inc.'s etchall TM  Reusable Glass Mirror Etching Creme  turned out so good that nothing made of glass is safe at my house. I want to etch every surface, which  is made less expensive than the older versions of etching cream because it is reusable. It says so right on the label and it's true. I was able to return 90 percent of the used cream to the bottle for future projects. I used a stencil, which I created with a punch and etchmask TM vinyl, for my first etchall TM project. I am very pleased with the results. You could also use a stencil cut

Welcome to a middle-of-the-month blog challenge on the Designer Crafts Connection! This time, we're playing wi th Smoothfoam ™ , one of my new favorite surfaces. Smoothfoam™ is sturdy, resists chipping and crushing, paintable (no tedious prep work!), waxable, stampable - everything you want in a foam product. On top of that, it can be adhered with just about any adhesive, including glue guns. You can get out that dinosaur glue gun from the "olden days" when that was all that we had available, and not worry about whether you are using high heat or low. Both work fine on Smoothfoam™ (but you still need to keep it off your fingers). This stuff can be cut or carved as well. Be sure to click on the Designer Crafts Connection logo to the left to see what some great designers have done with Smoothfoam™. You can win the Smoothfoam™  Kit to make me! As you hop through the designer blogs, comment on your favorite projects. Each time you comment you'll be ent

Back in July I created this piece for the Summer Craft and Hobby Association show using Westcott scissors and trimmers, Duck Brand X-Factor Duck Tape and Velcro fasteners. One thing that made it so easy for me was the new Duck Tape sheets (These are available at Target) which make covering a larger area pretty simple. The frame contains a quote about animals, and there is an additional removable frame on the band, which wraps around the larger piece. You can replace either image very quickly, and the larger opening holds an 8" x 10" photo. The smaller is approximately 3" x 4", although I can't imagine why you would want to replace the small photo. That is my pup Pete, The Speckle-butted Monster, who is now 13, one year older than the life expectancy for a Dalmation. Pete had a stroke last week that affected his gait and balance, but he is much better now and bouncing around with his buddy Sam, the Wonder Lab. You can own this one-of-a-kind frame and make a
