Dimsum food restaurant, Pulau Pinang

Friends always recommend that if I go to Penang island, a must go place for breakfast is

"Dimsum Food Restaurant".

It is very easy to locate it because it is near Komtar and just right opposite the tall UMNO building.

Friends and I traveled to the island via ferry. :)

Luckily before going to the Dimsum Food Restaurant, I did scout for route to the location. :)

It is a must-go restaurant when you are in Penang island.
They are famous in their Teochew Cendul.

It was great for me as they had opened a brand in Bagan Ajam, which is in mainland!
Very convenient for people like me who stays in mainland.
We do not need to go all the way to the island to taste the yummylicious cendul. :D

We sat down in the cozy restaurant.

Saturday!!!

Too bored staying in hostel.
Decided to hop to Penang island with the girls.

It was super long queue while waiting for the ferry.

Since we traveled by ferry, the closest mall from the jetty was KOMTAR!

"Eh.. Long time did't go Komtar dy. Let's go there larrr! "

We went for this shop, Fresh 鲜茶工坊 located in Komtar Walk, recommended by akean.

I ordered passion fruit green tea with coco & pearl, RM3.50

Consider cheap, kan?
Eh.. You can't get this price in a shopping mall leh.. With pearl some more...! Nata De Coco lagi...!

Just right outside the cafe, there was this function by suria.fm, Malaysia's Malay radio station.

We did not know who the malay singer is... But still... We went to the concourse to give support to take the free gifts ...

We hang around in Komtar to pass our time because I need to pass clothes to my buyer. =) Fast deal buyer.

I don't find the food here is nice.
A bit below average.
Friends also find that their chicken chops weren't taste that good.
But frankly, the price is cheap. =)
Chicken chop only cost RM7.

The stall was in a hawker shop, in a housing area.
The surrounding was hot.
We sweat while cutting our chops. LOL! =.=""

Now, we understand that, never fully trust a food review from the internet.

Nyonya Rice Dumpling (Nyonya Bak Chang)

Duanwu Festival (端午节） is coming.

Every year grandma will make our favourite--Nyonya Rice Dumpling (Nyonya Bak Chang)

Obviously, Nyonya Rice Dumpling is made by the Nyonya-s from Melaka.
But, my grandmother is not a Nyonya.
(I'm a pure Chinese okay~!! People always mistaken that ladies who were born in Melaka are "nyonya". )
I guess she learns it from her Nyonya friend long long long long ago. XD
Because I have been eating it since I was small.

Nyonya Rice Dumpling half of it is blue in color.
And thank God, the blue color is completely NATURAL coloring.
It is the coloring from "Blue Flower".
No artificial colours added.

This is another type of rice dumpling, made by my grandma too.
We call it "Kee" chang.
It's tasteless. You need to dip it with sugar, kaya when serving. ;)

When you visit to Penang, a must buy local food product to bring back will be Tau Sar Piah.

Among the various brands of Tau Sar Piah sold on Penang, I LOVE Ghee Hiang's the most!
Ghee Hiang's Tau Sar Piah already there since Year 1856!!!
It's already more than 150 years! O_O



Thinking of buying 1 box and share with friends???



NOPE!!! It is definitely not ENOUGH!!!
I can be assured that every bite is seriously flavorsome and delightfully delicious.
