It's been a great year that we have shared with our 6th Age buddies. We have made cards for them, created craft projects and learned what it means to be respectful with them. They have brightened our day and the girls are so tender and genuine with them. We printed pictures of each girl with their buddy, then they made and delivered a card to their buddy to thank them for a great year and wish them well in 7th Age! Hopefully, these connections will continue. Thank you 6th Agers for letting us share your year with you!

Making Bird Feeders for Earth Week!
Yesterday, the girls helped their 6th Age buddy make a Earth friendly bird feeder during our Earth Week activities. They tied a string around a pine cone, then smeared sunflower butter all over the pine cone. Together, they rolled the pine cone in bird seed before finishing it off with a pretty bow (Of course!). The 6th Agers took them home to hang in a tree! Then we all enjoyed the beautiful sunshine with a little recess!

Teaching Respect
Last Wednesday, the girls wrote scripts about showing respect or disrespect for their 6th Age buddies. We met our buddies in the gazebo, where the girls acted out their scripts, and then asked the 6th Agers to determine if what they saw was respect or disrespect. If it was disrepect, we brainstormed together how the 'actors' could have shown more respect. Then, of course, we celebrated their success in correcting answering our questions with COOKIES! :-) Each girl gave their buddy a chocolate bunny and wished them a happy weekend.

Will You Be My Valentine?
Yesterday, during study hall, the 8th grade big sisters invited us to decorate cookies with them for Valentines day. Icing was heaped on, sprinkles were poured on, and the cookies were devoured! We returned the kind gesture today, by surprising our 8th grade big sisters with lollipop valentines that we taped to their lockers. The girls had been working on Valentines for their 6th Age buddies and 8th grade big sisters for a week, whenever we could sneak it in.
We journeyed over to the lower school at the start of school to deliver our 6th Age buddy valentines. And what is valentines with out a party? So, we partied it up and the girls shared their secret valentine gift with each other during our flex period! Pictures galore below!

Sharing Stories with 6th Age
The girls researched a children's book author for their October book report, and then chose one of the author's books to read to their 6th Age buddy. Since it was such a BEAUTIFUL day outside today, Mrs. DeLorbe and I thought it would be great to have the girls read to their buddy in the gazebo and Molly's Garden. It made for great pictures!
