Late Spring Teatime Blues Reminder: "Give Thanks"

Today was cold, rainy, gray, and dreary
And, yes, it is Spring(almost officially Summer).
I have been unmotivated, emotional, and tired all day!!
Since it appeared that I wouldn't be up to doing much of anything productive, I decided to drink herbal tea from a new teacup, poured from a new teapot.

As I prepared my tea, I decided to grab some books I've been meaning to read, along with some old writing journals and a pen.

The drizzly lit sky gave little light through my window for me to read, but I made due with what was available.

The tea warmed my heart and body
As I read from my journals, I was reminded of the good times when I felt close to God and my family and difficult times when I didn't know if I would make it through another day!
Some of those days were full of emotion and heartache, the same feelings and disappointments that are felt today. It does seem that days with heartache will always be with me(with all of us)!
When I once again look out into the gloomy day, I'm hit with what I am told to do - the sign in my window is a giant reminder to me - "Give Thanks, No Matter What".
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."(1 Thes. 5:18)

The fake butterfly in my centerpiece also reminds me that new life is given to all who believe.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold. the new has come.(2 Cor. 5:17)
"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19)

There will be days like this, but even when I'm feeling down, I know what I am to do....what we all should do..."Give Thanks".

Enjoying the Beautiful Weather

The weather has been so nice lately!!
(Even though we are currently under a thunderstorm watch and temps are supposed to drop.)

Spring is Here (I Hope)

It's been awhile since I have written here at Cairn Cottage
Even though we had a pretty mild winter, spring seems to come very slowly to me. For weeks we have flip-flopped from cold/snow to sunny, warm days!

This week before Easter Sunday, I finally got some spring decor out and put together this planter.

Tea for Two: A couple of fairies drink some tea...

I found this teapot house at Meijer. As a "tea stuff" collector, it gave me inspiration for how to use some miniature tea items in the theme.

My miniature teapot and teacup ornaments fit in perfectly...

I planted some Viola in a children's teacup, as well as surrounding the scenery.

I'm hoping the "SPRING" wood sign gets everyone in the mood for the season!!

What kinds of things are you doing to get into the "Spring" mood? Planting flowers? Doing spring cleaning? Displaying spring decor?

Hopefully, Spring is here to stay!!

Easter Tea Table

Happy Easter Everyone!!
It’s hard to believe that the Easter season is upon us!! But, I am definitely ready…especially for Spring to arrive!! We’ve had a pretty cold and dreary winter. I had been planning on sharing my Easter tea table setting for a while, but once again, have just not found the time. So, today(the day before Easter Sunday), I decided to have a little tea and some desserts that I purchased at a local bakery
Because (to me) Easter is, first and foremost, about Christ's death on the cross and His ressurection from the grave, I wanted to emphasize this in my theme.

With a little moss covered styrofoam, some rocks and sticks, I made this simple centerpiece. (I first got the idea off of Pinterest, but made some changes to make it quick and simple to put together-about an hour to complete)
 Here is my pastel tablesetting.
Each place setting has a different teacup and matching plates.

Of course, I always have to share the lake view through my dining room window.

Today, I am serving three different desserts with my tea. In front- lemon tea cakes; to the left-mini cranberry scones; to the right-peanut butter no-bake cookies.
Tea is being served in a new white "Tl Mulino" teapot, I purchased a T.J. Maxx. I love that it is a large capacity (8 cups) teapot.
I also have my ceramic Easter bunnies and bird (not shown) back, as well as my egg cups. This year, instead of Easter eggs, I added some small flowers in the egg cups.

May you have a joyous Easter
and a happy Spring!!!

Blessings, Ann

Springing into Style

It's been quite a while since I've done an outfit post. It seems that spring is taking forever to get here, so I've not been wearing a lot of my spring wardrobe yet. Just today, I got around to packing up my winter sweaters and unpacking shorts, swimsuits, and tank tops. Hopefully, I'll soon be wearing them! Till then, I have a few new pieces that I can wear.

It looks like stripes and the colors peach/tangerine are what I'm drawn to this year. I didn't realize till I did this post that I really need to go spring shoe shopping, too. I have just a couple pairs of flats, which are great when boots are too warm and sandals/flip flops are too cool, yet.
