I had hoped to get pics taken of the Quilts-On-A-Stick winners for today… unfortunately, it didn’t happen – but I am working on and off this weekend and that is on my to do list! It is family weekend at the University of MN, so we have a few things going on with Hannah including a Chili Cook off/tail gating before we head to the the UofM football game! It is supposed to rain… so keep your fingers crossed for me that it doesn’t!!! LOL! I took a couple afternoon’s off this week to spend time with her…. as I have 3 busy weeks coming up where the shop is open twice & I am flying out to a trade show in Houston! Gotta make times for my girls!!! We sure enjoyed hanging out, shopping & going out for supper! Good times!!!

Fall Into Autumn Online event ON NOW! $50 Giveaway

Welcome to our "Fall Into Autumn" Online Event!  Over the next 4 days, we will be offering you some NEW & festive fall designs in wool & cotton.  We will also be sharing some of our FAV fall recipes, fall adventures & decorating ideas with each of you.  Let's get started!

Happy FALL!

Here in Minnesota, we are blessed to experience all 4 seasons!  Of course FALL is my favorite!  I grew up amongst the oaks and the apple trees up North!  Oaks leaves and maple leaves are still my FAV leaves to date!  The maple leaves would change daily and they seemed to last the longest.

Since we lived out in the country, we spent a lot of time outside & being creative.  I can't tell you how many leaves I collected, and pressed between the Montgomery Wards catalogs to dry.  Each one was so perfect, yet unique in shape & size.  I can still remember how crisp & fragile they became.  And the smell... there is nothing like fresh fallen leaves... oh, the joys of fall!

Since we had acreage, leaves were a plenty and raking was a weekly event!  It was usually Great Grandma Lily & I out raking her hard.  She would get the most leaves, in the smallest area.  We had so much fun and used some old fashioned rakes that were not the easiest to use!  However, it didn't stop us from making huge piles of leaves for the neighbor kids & I to jump in and out of!  It was so fun!

My dad loved to plant and grow apple trees!  It was always so neat to see the fruit of his labor in the fall.  Now, with living in the cities, we have enjoyed going to our local area's apple orchards.  One of our favorite orchards is Aamodt's in Stillwater.  It is about a half hour away, is ranked the 3rd in the nation and is known for the best apple picking, hayrides & more.  It has been fun to go there over the years and create many fond memories with our daughters there.

Sicne we are talking about apples... I have a couple of apple recipes to share with you today!  The first one is simple, but tasty recipe.  It is Caramel Apple nachos!  I have served this at many parties.  I usually wait until the last minute to cut up the apples & dip them in lemon juice before I plate them.
I hope you enjoy it!

My next recipe is just perfect for using all those delicious apples you've picked up at the farmer's market or apple orchard!  It is Cinnamon Apple Bread.  I like to use the cinnamon mixture from Pampered Chef!  It is my FAV!

Before I share some of our NEW & EXCITING fall designs & goodies with you... I thought I would share a few ideas that you could do with your pumpkins!  I LOVE pumpkins!  I love all the different varieties, colors & shapes they come in!  Mixing & matching is always fun!  Of course, adding a little bittersweet & a mum here of there never hurts!

At the BASIN... fall is around every corner in the shop!  We have been working very hard to bring you some of the best designs of the season!  Here is a start... remember, we have 3 more days of fall fun coming up so we wanted to be sure to save some for each day!  We also have a Daily Giveaway going on too!  Each time  you order, your name will go into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate!  You can order as many times as you want through Saturday as we are giving away 4 gift certificates, 1 each day!

Here is a sneak peek of what you can find today on our website under "Shop Online" & "Fall Into Autumn Online Event"!  Be sure to head over to our website if you see anything you would like order while our items are in stock!

See you tomorrow for more fall goodness!

NEW FALL & Halloween Designs * Giveaway * Online & Shop Event info

Happy “LUCKY” Monday!  I am doing our normal “LUCKY” Friday post tonight, since I was a bit under the weather last week!  So… Monday it is!  Plus, we have a few NEW designs/kits that many of you are waiting for so I wanted to let you know the website is filled with NEW & RESTOCKED KITS!

Today I am giving away 12 kits of our NEW Fall Hexi Mat! over on our FB page!  This mat is filled with a few of my FAV fall things!  I loved how the pumpkin & sunflower played into the Hexi!  It’s always fun putting a creative spin on my designs!  The colors on the mat are perfect!  We coordinated it to go with the Sept Hexi Door Greeter & Fall Project that was featured in American Patchwork & Quilting!
Also on the web now. is the next CHALK IT UP! October Pattern & KIT!  I thought I loved the September one the most… but easily… this one is SPOOK-TAC-U-LAR!  I love it!  It was funny how this one came about.  I knew I wanted it Halloween themed and started with the words “Trick or Treat” and added the wool Halloween themed pieces at the bottom.  Next thing I knew… I did it the wrong size! LOL!  {It happens to the best of us!}  SEW… I ended up adding a bat to the top & a spider web between the words…and waa laaa…. It became the perfect size!  Looking back, I couldn’t imagine it without the bat on the top now!  So, don’t let the little “oopsies” get you down!

Sometimes, it ends up working out better than you had planned!

If you are doing the Bringing Home the Tree BOM, the final finishing kit is now available.  The best part, it includes the same fabrics we used on our quilt!  This should tie your blocks together and once you are done… our quilts should be “twinning”!!!  Thanks for all of you who have been doing this BOM!  We still are offering it for those who have recently joined in!
OK, I should jump in and share a little personal tidbit with you!  Many of you know I am a HUGE Matchbox 20/Rob Thomas fan!  My hubby & I have been enjoying following them around for years and try to book our vacation (and even teaching gigs) around their schedule!  We have loved every concert and have enjoyed some perks like front row seats, VIP packages {with no meet & greets ) etc... However, this past Saturday, we were VIPS & had the opportunity to experience a meet & greet, sound check and Q & A…. We also got to hang out with them {briefly} before we took our pics with the band AND….. then … BEST PART {besides hugs all around and actually meeting Rob & the band} … we were fortunate to be on the side stage with them during the whole concert!  It was SOOOO AWESOME!  This opportunity almost didn’t happen!  {I know, right!!!}  Right before we were going on stage, they had to evacuate over 13,000 people as it was an outdoor concert and a thunderstorm was moving in!  However, the show did go on, and George and I had the time of our lives! I can’t believe we got to experience what they experience every night on stage.  The energy, the music, the lights, the crowd & the moments they came over and sang/played for us was indescribable.  I am so grateful for this opportunity and can’t believe how cool and down to earth they were!  I could totally hang with them at any time!  😊 They are fricken AWESOME!!!!!!  {Hope you all don’t think I am crazy now!!! HAHAHA!}
Now that I shared my exciting news with you all… we can get back to business!!!  I know many of you know about our Quilts-On-A-Stick Contest, however… some are just finding out {due to advertising} and they wanted to still get their quilts entered, so I am extending the deadline.  {Or you run into a customer when getting your labs done at the clinic- and she tells me that she and her friend have theirs started, but need more time! LOL!  True story!  {You should have seen us when we thought each looked familiar!  I wasn’t expecting her to be in a white lab coat! LOL!  Plus, we live in the Twin Cities!  Small world!}  However, just make sure it gets to us by next Wednesday or you will miss entering, as the voting starts on Wednesday evening at our Wine & Cheese Early Bird Shopping event!  So, hurry!!!!  You still have time!

WOOLSTOCK IS NEAR!  SIGN UP SOOOOON!  We are still getting sign ups with the adding room.  SEW if you are thinking about coming… let us know ASAP!  We have our menu’s planned, kits cut, treat bags ready, and want to make sure you get accounted for!  We are doing a CAMP theme… and everything is turning out so darn cute!  I am finalizing the COOL TSHIRTS tonight and will be placing my order tomorrow for them!   We are still getting in a TON of NEW goods in for it!  We received our shipment of our custom Buttermilk Basin project bags… LOVE!  Since last week, we also received over 100 bolts of NEW fabrics, TONS of NEW WOOL, we have also designed MANY new FALL projects etc.…  We will be working right up until the end to make this a GREAT EVENT &FUN SHOPPING EXPERINCE for you ALLLLLL!!!!!  At the very least… come shop at the Basin!
Sorry I was “Chatty Cathy”!  I just couldn’t wait to share all my news with you!  I hope you all have a great week!  And, be sure to keep posting your pics to our FB page!  Angela is now helping me get them shared!  You guys are so talented!  WE LOVE seeing your work!  Be sure to leave a comment on our FB page for a chance to win a kit!  Happy Stitching!

Happy, Happy, "LUCKY" Friday this Holiday weekend!! I am so glad to be back to give away some gorgeous WOOL Bundles, share some new designs/kits, and catch up with you this week!!!! I MISSED YOU ALL LAST WEEK!! {I will be giving away a dozen of the bundles, so make sure you comment as these will be great for your upcoming fall projects!!!!}

First off the wool bundles… each month we hand pick some of our FAV wool pieces & bundle them up just for you! You can either buy them each month or you can call us and set yourself up on autoship and have them shipped to your door each month! We have many customers that do this, and wanted to make sure everyone knows about this option!!!

Next… we have 1 of the NEW Hexi designs ready! If you haven't done any of our Hexi WORD Door Greeters yet - this is one you should consider doing! Our September design spells out the word FALL and it is a KEEPER! We love everything about his design! It captures the essence of fall!!! We have patterns & kits available on our website! We also have the final snowman block available for our Bringing Home the Tree BOM! Next month, we will release the finishing kit for the quilt. If you are on the fence about purchasing the kit - I would consider doing it soon.... as we are unsure if we have the time to repeat this as a BOM! As I mentioned in the video I shared earlier today, our kits are unlike any other kits you may purchase from somewhere else… our kits contain the same wool/cotton that we use in our designs or the next closest piece possible! We want you to feel confident when ordering our kits!

Do you LOVE HALLOWEEN like we do?  Then you won't want to miss out on our NEW & SPOOKTACULAR Haunting Pumpkins Halloween Quilt BOM!  This will be premiering at WOOLSTOCK & an exclusive to Buttermilk Basin!

At the shop… We are rocking it!  My two new gals are doing great! Diana has been here 2 weeks now & Jessica has 1 week under her belt! I have such big plans and am so lucky to have good help to move forward! Everyone is off to enjoy the Holiday weekend - so please note we are closed on Monday!

On the home front … my girls are growing up way to fast! We moved Hannah in her dorm room on Tuesday. She doesn't have a roommate. She had wanted one, but by the time they got to her, they were down to single rooms. At first she was a little bummed, but now that she is in - she loves it!!! It was a bittersweet moment… not going to lie.. this momma is emotional and there have been a few tears shed! Luckily, everything is going great for her and she is already making new friends! She is only 20 minutes away so in the big scheme of things, we are blessed to have her close!  We will be meeting up with her at the State Fair tonight! So excited!!!! Grace is set, too, for school! She is going in to 10th grade and has spent most of the summer dancing! I enjoyed watching her dance/cheer at the first football game last night! Nothing makes me more happy than knowing my girls are happy & enjoying themselves! I love my girls {and worry about them} soo much! I am sure many of you can relate!!!! Luckily, we have handwork to keep busy with, right?!!!

As always, thanks so very much for your support & encouragement both in my personal life & professional! You know I love sharing the ups & downs with you! That's what makes this journey so special! I hope you all have a fantastic & safe Holiday weekend!!! We have no plans… just hanging out together at home & at work!!! Life is good! Be sure to head over to our FB page and leave a comment for a chance to win a wool bundle! You are going to LOVE it!!!!! All my best… Stacy

Final Day of our Halloween Blog Hop! Buttermilk Basin...

Welcome back to the FINAL day of our Halloween Blog Hop!  Before we begin, I would like to give a BIG THANKS to all the wonderful designers who worked with me to make this hop possible for YOU!  Remember, they don't have to do this... they choose to!

All the projects were so FUN!  It was also awesome to have a variety of projects from a stuffed black cat... to a stitched Halloween tag!  We can't forget all the wonderful wool projects either!!!  I sure hope you printed off the patterns and added them to your stash, in case you don't have time to make them this year!

If you recall, I am a huge fan of Halloween!  I have the best childhood memories of Halloween!  I grew up in the country & took the bus home.  The bus would drop us off at about 4:15... All of us neighbor kids would run home and get our costumes on and meet up shortly to go trick or treating together!  But... before we went anywhere, we had to make the 1st stop, up the hill, at both grandma's!  {I was blessed to grow up with them in our same yard!} They were soooo excited to see us all dressed up!  Lily had the little bags filled with candy, while Avis gave out king sized candy bars!  Then, us neighbor kids went  around to all the neighbors, before we headed into town to go trick or treating!  This was HUGE!  It was like hitting the jackpot!  Many times mom would drive us (as Halloween night tends to get cold here in MN) from block to block!  As we got older, they dropped us off and we walked for hours trick or treating!  It was just the best night of the year!

I also remember enjoying these seasonal cereals that only came out for a brief period of time!  My favorite was BOO BERRY!  When my daughters were younger, they too, enjoyed these cereals!  Which was your FAV?

Since we had a local dime store in town... we were also able to enjoy some unique candies.  I can just remember blowing these wax whistles like it was yesterday!  So fun!

Of course, Halloween would not be the same without the traditional pumpkin bucket to gather all your treats in!  I am actually surprised that they still make them these days!

We also got to experience and attend a lot of Halloween parties through 4-H, youth group & Women of Today.  We would ALWAYS make caramel apples with the sheets of caramel!!  I wonder if they still make these??  I still love a good caramel apple!

I also loved all the cute packaging and variations of candy we would receive!  These were always so cute and a "big hit" if we received these!!!

If you recall, I had mentioned I would share with you some of my Halloween costumes{that I remember} that I wore for Halloween!  My mom always made my costumes!  The biggest undertaking was making a SMURF costume!  Not only was it made out of fur, but you had to stuff the head to make sure it would stand up!  That costume was so hot to wear!  I can't tell you how many people borrowed that costume!  I was also a record one year!  Yep!  You read that right!  We stared with a hula hoop and then used black felt, I believe... and went from there!  That was a fun one to get on and off.  I can't believe mom just tackled any thing I sent her way!  She was awesome!  As I got older... I wore my great grandpa's striped bibbed overhauls and went as a bum.  I also had his hanker chief hanging out of the back pocket!  He died when I was little... so I think I always thought it was special to wear them!  Such good memories!  I hope this post stirred up a few good memories for you too!

So back to the HOP!  Here is my little old owl ornament that was originally a stitchery pattern.  It is so cute that we made it into a wool ornament!  He is quick and easy to make!  He can also be left out all year too!  We also have kits available for $6.95 or 3 kits in one pattern for $15.00.  We thought it would be cute to hang a few on a tree, too, so we gave you a good deal if you wanted to make more then 1!!!  You can click the link below the picture for the pattern... and click this link if you would like to order a kit!
Visit Website!

Before you go, I wanted to let you know that our next Mystery Block for our "Let it Snow" BOM and our next Vintage Truck thru the Year will be released on Friday!  So be sure to check back on our website for those!

I will wrap up the post with more EXCITING NEWS!  Many of you have been requesting to do our unique and amazing Christmas Blog hop again this year!  So we are happily meeting your needs!  We are starting the hop earlier this year so you have the opportunity to make the projects for yourself or as gifts to give!  We really are going to make this a great hop... so be sure to share the info with you friends and post the pic too, if you would like!!  Here it is!  Be ready for some Holiday Magic coming your way!!!  All my Best... Stacy
