"The fundamental mission of motherhood now is the same as it always was: to nurture, protect, and instruct children, to create a home environment that enables them to learn and grow, to help them develop a heart for God and his purposes, and to send them out into the world prepared to live both fully and meaningfully."

First days of school 2012 (1st grade/PreK-3)

The last week of August we geared up to meet our new teachers and get the school year underway.  We started by going up on a Monday night to meet AM's new teacher, Mrs. Smith, and drop off our school supplies.  She knew alot of the kids on the roll so we think it's gonna be a great year!

Clarky's school started the next day (Tuesday).  Since we're holding him back, he will do three years of preschool, but hey, who's counting?

He was so happy to go to real school just like Sissy!

We got to see cousin SC since she goes to the same school as Clark!

And the main reason we decided to send Clark to Noah's Ark preschool is because he could be in Kristiana's class!   She is one of my dearest and best friends, and it is such a blessing to know he's so well taken care of each day!  Not to mention Kristiana was Waco ISD's teacher of the year when she taught!!  She is wonderful!  Clarky is thriving in her class!

I was fighting back the tears as I left him.  I am so proud of him but can't believe how fast he's growing up.  :(  I just savor the days with my little boy!

Looking a little shell shocked, but never the less had a wonderful first day! :)

And the next day it was time for our big girl to start FIRST GRADE.  What??

She was so proud of her new outfit and bow that Gamma got her.  Had to rock the side ponytail!

She still looks so little here.  I'm so proud of my sweet girl!

Icing on the cake---she was seated right next to our across the street neighbor, Lucy.   Sweet friends!  We are so thankful for a great school with great teachers and administrators.

And Bubba had to have his picture taken too.

Mary Claire's dedication

In August we had the opportunity to dedicate Mary Claire to the Lord at our church.  We love her deeply with all of our hearts, but we know she is not ours, she is His.  This is the verse we chose for her and will continue to pray for her as she grows and changes:

Romans 15:13

" May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Yes, Mary Claire, we have hope!  Our lives are not meaningless if we know Jesus.  We pray you come to know Him as your Savior and grow in a personal relationship with Him one day.

An extra blessing was getting to stand beside our dear friends, the Woods, who were dedicating (giant) baby Brady.  He makes me miss my baby Clarky. :)  We also got to stand beside our friends, the Boyds (baby Brighton), as well as the Barretts (baby Zoe) from Sunday School.  So fun having friends with babies the same age!!

Who knows what AM and C were discussing during the prayer?
And here they are dancing.

Wow.  At this point I was sweating profusely.

I think Mary Claire was ready to hit the hay.  Of course she was a perfect angel as always!  Love this pic of our family of five.  Thank God every day for His blessings.
We also had Gigi, Papa, Gamma, Pepaw, Grandmommy, Granddaddy, Josh, Julia, Brooks, and Sarah Catherine there too, but we didn't take a picture!  shoot!  We've GOT to get better at that!

Stitches

Our first experience. Big SIGH.

Have to document this crazy story although at this point I don't know how I'll ever forget it!

This morning we had arranged to meet up with a new playgroup at the park in our neighborhood. I only knew one out of the four other girls coming so I was really unsure about how I was going to know who I was meeting! :)  I was looking forward to a calm, relaxing stroll up to the park, a fun playtime for Clark while Mary Claire and I sat on a blanket and chatted while meeting new friends, and then a calm relaxing stroll home.

NOT.

10:00  We head out with MC in stroller and Clark and I walking to the park

10:15  Arrive to the park, see my friend Jen.  Phew!  I found our group!  Meet all the sweet girls and their children.  Clark sees his friend, Russell, and darts off to go play with him.

10:30   I hear wailing.  Wait.  That's Clark.  Where is he?  He's at the top of the jungle gym!  His mouth is bleeding!  ahhh!  I grab him, try to calm him down, and see the gash on his lip.  Still bleeding.  It's now all over me too.  I walk back up to the hill to my friends I've just met ten minutes ago, and everyone is so nice and brings me wipes!  Amanda says she has a close friend (David) that is the head ER surgeon at Hillcrest.  He's at home today, and she's sure he wouldn't mind if we called him.  Do I take him to Urgent Care?  the hospital?  nowhere?  David texts back and says he wants to look at it.  Bring him to his house.  ok.  I've never met him.  And it's his day off!  Amanda says she'll caravan over there with me so it's not awkward.  (Ha!  little did I know!)

10:45   I start to go to my car.  Oh wait. We walked.  It is now super hot.  I'm sweating profusely, MC's crying, and I feel terrible having to make my son walk home with a gashed lip!  :(

11:00 We get home, I drag everybody in the back door and head straight for the garage, but the garage door won't open.  Nothing's happening when I push the button.  Wait---the power's out??!!  Are.you.kidding.me.  I call Amanda and tell her I can't get out.  She says try the red emergency pull cord.  Oh yeah!  After fumbling around in the dark, I manage to pull it and push up the garage door.  (children crying, MC starving--needs a bottle)  I hurriedly make a bottle, feed her, and burst into tears.

11:30  After many calls to Sean, he finally makes it home.  At this point David has called me since he heard through Amanda that I couldn't get out of my garage and says he'll just come to my house after he picks up his kids from school.

12:15  David makes it to my house, looks at it, decides he can do it here, then goes back to his truck to get his supplies.  We tell him to please let his kids and their friend come in to play.

12:30  David sets up shop on the dining room table.  We lay Clark on the changing pad, Sean and I (do our best to) pin him down, and David starts giving him the numbing solution.  (shots!) :(  Terrible.  Clark is writhing, flailing, screaming.  I cry.  I apologize.  I'm sweating.  Mary is crying.  The kids are crying.  David's son who's potty training has an accident.  I leave the scene to go find him some underwear and shorts to wear.  He and Clark are different sizes so I don't have much to offer.

1:00  David finishes up, and Clark is a basket case.  We thank David profusely, are amazed he would do that for us, and help him load up all of his kids.  He drives away.  I stand there completely wiped out.  Sean goes back to work.  Clark (thank God) goes down for a nap.  So does Mary.  I thank God for sending David to help us avoid a $1000 ER bill and a day of waiting to be seen.  I procede to text all of my close friends that know David and his wife (Dana) and tell them that he's wonderful, and I need to meet her since he has now operated on Clark on my dining room table, and their son has worn home Clark's underwear and random pajama bottoms.

Really looking forward to meeting Dana, and dreading the next time someone needs stitches...

Farm visit

Just before school started we decided to take a quick trip down to the farm and visit with the Wallis crew.
It is SO beautiful on the farm that you just can't help but take some scenery shots!

While MC was napping we took some big kid rides on the mule.

MC talked to Grandma
I caught AnnMarie doing some wind dancing/singing.

Little cowgirl

Daddy gave AM a little driving lesson.

Beauty!

Summer portraits

This summer my friend and photographer, Jennifer, took some pictures of members' kids for portraits to hang on the walls of our new children's building.
What a blessing it was for us to be able to get six year, three year, and almost 6 months pictures for free! Thank you, First Woodway! :)
My heart. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

My beautiful firstborn is growing up fast...
:(  So proud of her!
Gets his Mama with that sweet face every time

And the icing on our family cake

Mary Claire is 6 months!

We are halfway to a year!  Time.is.flying.
This little angel brightens up our household so much.  She is the one we all can't wait to greet in the morning, and the one we all fight over holding all day long.  Sweet, sweet baby.

Mrs. Holly sent her this tutu and top when she was born so we thought it was time to have a photo shoot!  (That's a six month sticker I stuck on just in time!)

Enough, Mommy?!

Then we decided to take it outside.

AnnMarie had a similar top and tutu that she wanted to dress up in as well so we got some sister shots!

Just can't get enough of our little doll.
My friend, Jennifer, took some pictures for our new church building and this is one she snapped of MC.

Just playin in her room

We had a going away party for the Kennedys, and MC wished them well!  (Although Mommy is still very sad about it.) :(
