Hello Autumn: A Little Tree Embroidery Pattern

A few years ago I shared some little tree embroidery patterns, and a "Hello Spring" pattern featuring one of the trees.

Obviously I couldn't resist revisiting the design to create an autumnal version!

I've replaced "hello spring" with "hello autumn" (of course) and swapped out the flowers for some leaves and mushrooms.

Printed at 100% the design fits nicely in a 4 inch embroidery hoop. You could use it to make a seasonal decoration, or stitch it on a patchwork panel or another larger sewing project.

Here's how my finished spring embroidery turned out:

I embroidered my "hello spring" design mainly with backstitch, which would also work great for the autumn version. I used stranded embroidery thread (floss), stitching with three of the six strands from the skein.

After sewing the main lines of the tree, I added some extra lines of running stitch for more detail and general cuteness. I used the same shade of green throughout but you could use two or three different shades of brown and orange when you're sewing your autumnal tree, to represent the changing colours of the leaves. Scattered single stitches would also look great to fill up the canopy shape!

This pattern is for personal use only: you can use it to stitch as many trees as you want for yourself or as gifts, but please don't use it to make anything for sale. Thanks!

A PDF version of this pattern is available as part of my Patreon pattern library.

Ice Lollies: Summer Sampler Embroidery Patterns

Stitch a colourful ice lolly or two with a pair of embroidery patterns, now available on my Patreon!

There are two lolly designs to choose from - this classic lolly shape, and a rocket lolly.

Printed at 100% each lolly pattern fits nicely inside a 6 inch embroidery hoop. They're easy to sew and would be a great project to make with your kids or when you want to learn some new decorative stitches.

Use backstitch or your own favourite line stitch to embroider your chosen pattern...

... then get creative and fill in the different sections with fun stitches!

I used a full thickness (all six strands) of embroidery thread (floss) for the lolly outline, then two strands of thread for the details.

From top to bottom, I used: single scattered stitches, French knots, sheaf stitch, and chain stitch.

This pair of ice lolly embroidery patterns are now available in my Patreon pattern library.

Subscribers get access to a growing library of PDF patterns and tutorials, emails when a new project is added, and can cancel any time. Click here to check out my Patreon and to sign up!

FREE Felt Tampongate Ornament Tutorial & Happy Tampon Embroidery Pattern

This Coronation-inspired project definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea but the idea popped into my head and I simply could not resist making it!! Sorry!! :)

Sew a very silly, VERY CHEEKY ornament to celebrate the Coronation, the classic Royal scandal that was Tampongate, and the relationship between our King and Queen*

(*I think The Tampon Conversation is actually a very cute and funny example of how well suited they are for each other!)

As well as templates and instructions for sewing a Tampongate ornament, I've also included an embroidery pattern version of the design which fits neatly in a 3 inch embroidery hoop.

There's also an embroidery pattern of a cute little tampon on its own, and of course you can leave off the felt crown and just make a felt tampon ornament for any occasion!

Charles & Camilla Tampongate Felt Ornament

A little felt tampon ornament would be fun to stitch as a first period present, to fundraise to help women and girls in period poverty, or just to help promote more open and relaxed conversations around the topic of periods.

And the happy tampon pattern would look very cute stitched on a pouch for storing your period supplies!

Merry Corribobs! A Coronation Embroidery Pattern

Merry Corribobs Fun Coronation Embroidery Pattern

This slightly silly embroidery pattern is inspired by the British habit of saying things like “Hollibobs” instead of “Holidays”...

Recent examples include “The Panny D” (The Covid Pandemic), “The Platty Jubes” (The Platinum Jubilee), and “The Cozzie Livs” (The Cost of Living Crisis).

I saw someone using “the Corribobs” instead of “the Coronation” and… well, I just couldn’t resist embroidering it :)

This pattern is fun and easy to stitch, and I've included a guide to how I stitched my version.

It makes me giggle every time I see it and I hope it'll make you laugh, too!

Felt Crown Ornament Tutorial for the Coronation of King Charles III (& Coronation Embroidery Patterns!)

Sew a sparkly felt crown ornament to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III!

I've had so much fun sewing these little crowns, and I hope you guys will too. They'd be fun to sew over the Coronation weekend, or for your tree this Christmas as a memento of 2023.

The design is based on St Edward's Crown - part of the British Crown Jewels, and the crown which will be used at the exact moment of the King's coronation during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The printable PDF tutorial includes the templates and step-by-step instructions with lots of photos and helpful hints and tips.

It's now available as an instant download in my Etsy shop, and I've also added it to my Patreon pattern library.

If you don't want to sew your own crown but would love one as a keepsake you're in luck, as I'm selling the handmade ornaments too!

As well as the felt crowns tutorial I've shared some Coronation-themed embroidery patterns over on Patreon, which would also make great colouring pages (perfect for making some DIY decorations!).

There's a Coronation Crown Embroidery Pattern - the full design with the lettering "The Coronation of King Charles III, 6th May 2023", designed to fit in a 7 inch embroidery hoop, and the crown on its own if you'd like to just stitch that or add your own custom lettering.

I've also included a couple of pages with repeats of the crown design so you can easily print out lots of crowns for some group colouring-in sessions or to make a paper crown garland.

There's also a Cute Coronation Embroidery Pattern with a sweet little lion and unicorn. I've included the little union flag heart as a separate pattern, and repeated lots of times on the final page so you can easily print and make some DIY bunting. The heart would look fab stitched on felt to make a little ornament - just add the date of the Coronation on the back to turn it into a memento of the day.

Martin Lewis Portrait, Free Embroidery Pattern

Stitch a portrait of Martin Lewis with my latest free embroidery pattern!

I shared a free "WWMLD"  ("What Would Martin Lewis Do?") embroidery pattern last month, inspired by everyone’s favourite money-saving expert.

I love Martin Lewis and his no-nonsense advice about financial matters, and as bills and other prices have been sky-rocketing I've been thinking "What Would Martin Lewis Do?" a lot... and I just couldn't resist turning that into a craft project.

When I was sketching ideas for the pattern, I drew a little portrait of Martin because portraits are something I'm trying to challenge myself to do more of (gotta keep trying new things and stretching yourself creatively!)

I was quite pleased with how the sketch turned out and planned to share a pair of WWMLD patterns (one with simple text, the other this portrait version)... and then I had an attack of self doubt and decided the portrait was terrible and no-one would want to stitch it anyway so what was the point in sharing it - UGH!

And now...?

Well, I've decided that January Laura was being too hard on herself and needs to learn to share her work even if it's not "perfect" - because that's an important part of creative development.

And maybe people WILL want to stitch this (or just print it out and put it up on the wall) as a little reminder to make sensible financial choices, or to resist the urge to turn the heating up!

Feel the creative fear and do it anyway, right??

Happy stitching, pals xx

Spooky Stuff: A Halloween Embroidery Pattern

Spookiness is for life, not just for Halloween!!

Also... I might have promised to share this pattern back in the autumn... then got overwhelmed and not finished it until now... and then felt guilty about waiting for another autumn to roll around until I shared it.

SO: here you go, one cute and spooky embroidery pattern full of fun details to stitch however you fancy (and in whatever month of the year you want to!).

This design would also make a fab colouring sheet!

Team HRT! A Menopause Embroidery Pattern

I absolutely love it when people suggest possible variations for projects, or themes they'd love to see. Sometimes those ideas get tucked away for a rainy day and other times I simply have to sit down and work on them straight away.

Chatting about mental health last week and the magic of Taking Your Meds, a friend suggested that I design a Team HRT pattern for the many ladies battling their way through the menopause and its many difficult symptoms.

So when I added a Team Citalopram pattern this week, I had to design an HRT one too!

Just like mental health issues, the menopause is something it benefits us all to talk about more - to normalise it, to make sure people can get the support they need, and to help everyone feel less alone when dealing with all the ups and downs.

I think this would be a fun design to stitch for a friend as a gift, or together in a group while you swap stories!

The Team HRT pattern is now available as part of my Patreon pattern library.

Team Citalopram! A Mental Health Embroidery Pattern

When I shared my "Team Sertraline!" embroidery pattern last week I was blown away by the wonderful response from everyone.

There are clearly a lot of us in the SSRI boat right now and I'm glad to be a tiny part of making sure mental health issues get destigmatised and talked about more often (especially if that helps even one person reach out to a friend or their doctor if they're struggling!)

Several people commented to say they were in fact on "Team Citalopram", so obviously I had to update the design to to include the Citalopram gang :)

Cute Cat & Bunny Valentine's Day Embroidery Patterns

Stick your favourite romantic film on (or a playlist of classic love songs!) and get stitching this weekend with this pair of cute Valentine's Day projects, now available in my Patreon pattern library.

Choose from "You're Purrrrfect" and "You Make Me Hoppy", or stitch them both for double the fun.

These patterns were inspired by the pun-tastic Valentines Cards I shared last month.  I just couldn't resist seeing if they'd work as embroidery patterns... and I'm really pleased with how they turned out.

P.S. This is the first of a couple of posts I'll be sharing today - it's been a busy week here and I'm trying to catch up! xx

Team Sertraline! A Mental Health Embroidery Pattern

After designing a "Take Your Meds" pattern for my Patreon, I couldn't resist drawing this one... celebrating the magic of Sertraline, which has done WONDERS for my mental health and general well being in recent years.

I guess this is a bit of a niche design, but if you suffer from anxiety and/or depression and are on Team Sertraline I hope you'll enjoy stitching this xxx

Take Your Meds Embroidery Pattern

The latest embroidery pattern available on my Patreon is inspired by Self Care and the importance of remembering to do all the little things to look after yourself... like taking your medication!

I take tablets for my mental health (perhaps you do, too?), but this design totally works for anyone dealing with any ongoing or chronic health condition.

As well as stitching this design (which fits neatly into a 5 inch embroidery hoop) you could use it as a colouring page - maybe even have a little colouring session with your pals?

Take your meds. Take care of yourself xxx

Spring Birds Embroidery Patterns

I've got another spring-themed embroidery pattern to share over on my Patreon this week: folk-inspired birds!

This is actually a little set of patterns. I had so much fun designing the spring birds pattern that I couldn't resist adding some extras.

There are a couple of simpler versions of the embroidery design - smaller and much quicker to stitch, perfect for a quick crafty fix or sewing to give as a gift.

I've also included templates you can use to make little felt birds to applique in the centre of a small embroidery hoop, or anywhere else you feel just really needs a cute felt bird.

What Would Martin Lewis Do? Free Embroidery Pattern

This free embroidery pattern is an homage to everyone’s favourite money-saving expert, who has become one of the loudest voices campaigning for support during the cost of living crisis and sharing lots of useful information during this tricky time.

I love Martin Lewis and his no-nonsense advice about financial matters, and as bills and other prices have been sky-rocketing I've started to think to myself "What Would Martin Lewis Do?"... so, obviously, I had to turn that thought into a craft project because that's just who I am as a person.

I can’t promise you’ll become a wise money-saving guru after stitching this, but I hope it’ll make you smile all the same!

Printed at 100% the design will fit neatly into a 5 inch embroidery hoop, but you may wish to use a larger hoop when stitching it.

This pattern is for personal use only: you can use it to stitch as many  as you want for yourself or as gifts, but please don't make any for sale. Thanks xx

Tulips: Spring Flower Embroidery Patterns

Hello friends!

I've been busy behind the scenes this month working on lots of loveliness to share with my Patreon subscribers and here on my blog over the coming year, I'm so excited to get started!

The first new addition to my Patreon pattern library? A pair of tulip embroidery patterns.

These floral designs would look great framed in 5 inch embroidery hoops, or sewn onto a small sewing project.

I've designed them to match another set of spring flower patterns which are also available over on my Patreon: daffodils & narcissi.

A Liz Truss Embroidery Pattern + A Pack of Tory "Grow The Pie" Seeds

Commemorate the resignation of Britain's shortest-serving Prime Minister with this pair of Liz Truss embroidery patterns (or colouring pages, if you'd rather get your pens out than a needle and thread!) - now available in my shop and over on my Patreon.

A few weeks ago I spent the evening sketching just for the sake of it, and because Liz Truss had been in the news so much I set myself the challenge of drawing her. I've not attempted many portraits before, so I thought this would be quite fun and I was rather pleased with the result.

Obviously my crafter's brain immediately yelled "YOU SHOULD TURN THIS INTO AN EMBROIDERY PATTERN!!!" and once I'd thought that thought I simply couldn't resist.

Then when I was working on the Liz Truss pattern I was thinking about possible wording for the banner. Maybe "Pork Markets!!", or "Grow the Pie!"...? And naturally this ended up with me sketching a pack of Tory Pie Seeds, which also simply had to get turned into a pattern.

I can't really explain why any of this happened (my boyfriend thinks this whole project is absolutely bananas, and he's probably right) but I'm trying to nurture sparks of inspiration and go with the flow at the moment, making more time to make things things "Just Because".

I enjoyed stitching these, and I'm delighted with how they turned out. They make me laugh and I hope you'll enjoy them, too.

Click here to find the Liz Truss embroidery patterns on my Patreon!

Becoming a Patron gets you access to a growing archive of crafty patterns, and email updates whenever I add something new. I'm so grateful for everyone who signs up to support my creative projects

P.S. I think Liz has been a disaster but you disagree we can still be friends and I have no plans to pivot to angry political content xxx

Magical Stars Embroidery Patterns

After sharing a super-detailed free Halloween embroidery pattern last week, here's another simpler pattern for you!

Like last week's design, this was inspired by my favourite line from the classic Halloween film Hocus Pocus.

This starry pattern was the first idea I sketched when I first started thinking about a Hocus Pocus -themed pattern. I ended up going in a different direction but couldn't let go of this idea... so I thought why not share this one too? The more patterns the merrier, right??

This starry design will fit neatly in 6 inch embroidery hoop, and would be great to stitch with backstitch and French knots.

You could stitch the stars in white on a dark background to create a night sky effect, or use bright colours for a magic spell vibe.

You'll find a free version of this pattern at the bottom of this post, but I've also shared a hi-res PDF version over on my Patreon... and I've shared another starry embroidery pattern with my Patreon subscribers, too!

This customisable pattern is exclusive to my Patreon subscribers

It has a border of stars and dots, with a blank space in the centre for you to add a quotation you love or any other text you fancy. So many possibilities!

Subscribe for a small monthly fee and you'll get access to a growing library of PDF patterns and tutorials, with an email whenever I add a new project. You can cancel any time.
