Granny Circles?

Brown Owls last night and I was super excited to learn the art of the crochet. It was a super night and was so glad to get owling again. Apparently I have 2 left hooks, this took me a long time to grasp and I think it was no coincidence that Kirsty needed a wine at the end of the night. I have also had many failed knitting attempts too, so you know I have needle history here. Pip wrote out some great instructions so I couldn't blame that, I did try to blame my yarn and my hook, but I fear they were defenceless bystanders. I practiced like a demon when I got home and then at 2am this is what I had - a granny circle, but I finally got what I was doing. Tonight I found some time to have another go and look, it even has granny potential, so proud and I fear a little addicted. I LOVE Brown owls, so much crafty good stuff and good people - Perfect.

Two Birds with One Stone

I am not so lucky, I have entered a tonne of competitions, not a skerrick. Then I cracked it, I won these super cute birds from Her heart, My hands. Aren't they just Divine? She even made one for each of us one, with bugs on the one for Caleb and hearts for Poppy. I was soooo excited, and I even got the cutest little bloomers too and you know how much I love a bloomer! For Poppy that is, not me. Sophie is the sweetest, with the cutest little girls and cute little clothes too.

I been slack in my Brown owls blogging too. It was the last one for the year last night and I have really enjoyed it and am super grateful to Kirsty and Pip for all their hard work. I made a squirrel tea light the other week, more photos over here including a couple of me stitching a storm. It was also bug and pop owl, I love that sort of thing. I also won barrel draw and got a Kirsty special ring and again last night I won a cute Melly and Me pattern. The flood gates have open people, I am off to buy a lottery ticket, if you need me Santa and I will be holidaying in Japan, while the reindeer carrying all my fabric purchases.

Fabric that Gives a Hoot

I am paying homage to our lovely host Pip and Kirsty too today. I am off to the brown owls on Monday again, love hanging our with the crafty ladies! We are doing some sausage dogs as inspired by Brooke. What could be better than this fabulous purple owl number I swindled for $1 from Spotlight and this super cute Japanese dog fabric, lots of the sausage variety and a few poodles and french bull dogs, just because you can!

I was going to babble on longer but since I am joining in Blogtoberfest, posting every day in October, I gotta hold back. There is only so much witty material that I have to go around.

Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's a Mushroom

Here is my brown owls mushroom pin cushion, unfortunately I forgot my camera so I don't have everyone else's lovely contribution (you can find some here). Mine is a little retro mushie, Caleb found it this morning and said "Mum this is the coolest rocket ship ever." Oh Dear. I had such a great time I am off again to the next one and enjoyed meeting all the lovely ladies - Kirsty, Kerry, Sharon, Paula, Drewzel and Curly Pops to name a few.
I forgot to add the thing that makes me happy for today, my Mum and Dad are coming to visit from a place much warmer that here. There is nothing as good as Nana love, just ask Caleb.

We are making toadstool pincushions and I am taking some inspiration from this devine one, or at least pretty enough that a fairy might live under it. I am also looking forward to meeting some lovely people including Curly Pops, I love her blogging commitment and she is doing some great stuff and Box of Glory ( who seems like a real sweety). I think there are still some spots open so why not come along for some tea and craft and fun. YEAH!!! More Happiness (I think I will make it this weeks theme)

PS. I just love these felted birdies, but they go like hot cakes.
