Indian FTR1200

Indian did what we have all been dreaming about, they showed an Indian Street Tracker "concept", the FTR1200 at Eicma 2017. I think it looks even better than the race only version with this updated tail peace. The headlight construction is brilliant, damn this thing is sexy. Best street tracker concept I've seen so far. The response so far has been so extremely positive, I think it's just a matter of time before they will show us a production version. It probably won't have the carbon stuff all over and the rsd wheels. Let's hope they keep the 19" front and rear, that would be a game changer. If they will make a 750cc version, I promise I will sell everything I have to get one of these! A FTR Sixty like they did with the Scout would also be good enough for me, haha! :)

Now stop teasing us and build the damn thing Indian!!!

Alta Motors Redshift ST Street Tracker Concept

Alta just made this very nice concept street tracker. Looking at the rider pic it seems to be crazy low in the front, looks wrong somehow, but the rest of the bike super fresh. Great lines, love the frame, wheels, tyres, cool bike!

Victory Ignition motor

Victory presented a new "concept bike" at Eicma a few days ago. I would not call this bike a concept bike in the traditional sense. Victory asked Swiss custom builder Urls Erbacher to deliver a concept bike. The fact that he used a of the shelf MT-03 head light is not very original to say the least. It's much more of a cruiser than most people hoped for but still it's a very good looking bike with nice lines.

The most interesting thing about this custom is the engine. The weird thing is that it's a not the same engine from the pikes peak bike that Roland Sands build for Victory some months ago. Check what I found when I compared the pictures. The Indian Scout, the Vicory Pikes Peak and the Victory Ignition have 3 different engines. But if you look closely they are almost exactly the same, all the main elements are in exactly the same spot. Is this one Polaris engine with 3 engine covers, what do you think?

Victory will be unveiling the full platform in stages, next step is next month at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in New York.

Jeff Palhegyi Design - Yamaha DT-07

Jeff Palhegyi build a stunning concept bike for Yamaha USA
You might remember the dirt tracker Jeff Palhegyi Design built from scratch from a Yamaha Star Bolt. Check it here
This time Yamaha asked him to build a concept bike using the MT-07.
It's still a concept but I think chances are Yamaha or Jeff Palhegyi Design will start making race kits for pro riders soon.

Husqvarna 401 Svartpilen

The Svartpilen is my favorite of the 2 concept bikes.
So many cool deatils on this little thing. WANT!

A little background on the bikes found on Deristricted:

"In 1955 Husqvarna introduced a revolutionary motorycle. While other manufacturers insisted on going larger and heavier, Husqvarna went lighter, smaller and..faster. The SilverPilen or “Silver Arrow” was a special motorcycle. It was a combination of a compact high output motor in a state of the art featherweight chassis. Husqvarna then utilized the talents of Sixten Saxon, a legendary Swedish industrial designer, to pen the beautiful shape of the Silver Pilen. Both the chassis and the appearance went on to directly inspire the furious red and chrome bombers that later dominated the off-road racing scene.

Almost sixty years later, Husqvarna is reinventing the concept of a small lightweight premium motorcycle. Once again, a high performance engine is housed in a lightweight compact chassis. The Avant garde aesthetics are the result of a partnership with another legendary designer, Gerald Kiska. The 401 Vit Pilen “White arrow in Swedish,” and the 401 Svart pilen “ black arrow” are today’s Husqvarnas. They are not recollections of the past, but rather future interpretations of what defines a modern motorcycle.

“It wasn’t our goal to do a “retrograde” design. When we looked at the 55’ Pilen, it wasn’t so much a source of visual inspiration as it was philosophical. I wanted to “cook” so to speak, using some of the same ingredients, but I wasn’t interested in copying the recipe. Purity, simplicity of form, economy of line, all the fundamentals of Husqvarna design language, doesn’t matter if it was 60 years ago, or now…the same mentality remains,” says senior designer, Björn Shuster.

Sporting upside down WP forks, lightweight trellis frames, powerful brakes,17 in wheels with modern rubber, and a powerful 400cc engine, the 401s are anything but antiquated. The pure forms and clean design enable a degree of versatility that is not often found on contemporary motorcycles. The Contrast between the Svart Pilen and the Vit Pilen showcases not only the visual variation, but also the functional intent that can be achieved on these bikes.
“A lot of modern machinery has become so hyper focused that it is difficult for the customer to inject a little of his/her own style into the bike, we wanted to create a platform that offers you a little more freedom. You want to run tall bars and run a high pipe for some fire road fun? Or perhaps you want a little more weight over the front end at your next trackday with the clip-ons? Maybe you just prefer one stance to another, it’s up to you!” says Björn."
