Sick Day

Jack was so good, he slept in the swing most of the day!

Finally.... some sleep!

Yesterday Emma had croup again.  This is the fifth time she has had it since June, so I am really sick of it!  The poor girl usually is fine when she goes to bed, and then wakes up in the night barely able to breathe.  It is so sad.  Anyway...this time I set up a tent, put the humidifier and a dvd player in it and Emma hung out in there for most of the day.  When she first woke up in the middle of the night she was hysterical, which makes her breathing even worse.  I tried to get her to eat a popsicle or ice cream or frozen orange juice (cold things can help make the breathing better) but she was too upset to have anything.  So I took her for a drive which sometimes calms her down, and the cold air is good for her too.  We went to a Mac's and got a slurpee, which she also wasn't too interested in.  She's only had a slurpee once before, this past summer with her cousins, the Boston Kelly's.  So I reminded her of that, and told her that Maren, Dallin, Spencer and Lauren all liked slurpees and that she should try it.  That convinced her.  I also helped her say a prayer asking to help calm her down and get feeling better.   In the morning when she was feeling a bit better, the first thing she said was "Mom, can you get up and get me ice cream?" and then " Where is Jesus?  He made me feel better."  It was too cute.  She also really enjoyed her "sippee" (that's what she thought the slurpee was called.)

What a sweetheart. I'm sad that she gets croup so much and that I wasn't any help this week. Poor sweetie and poor you.

I had no idea she was so sick again. Call me when this happens. I'd come and cuddle Jack. I can always leave the house at a moment's notice.
Jack and Emma are so adorable by the way. I love Jack's big-little yawn in halloween cloths.
