More Joy?

On a day marred by rain and ill fortune, one horse made the day worthwhile.  From memory there was only a couple of races where it was either raining only very lightly or not at all, and thank goodness, in the latter's case, that one race was More Joyous in the Canterbury Stakes.  This is a serious racehorse.  She strolled to the line, Nash didn't even ride her out, and in the process took out her 13th win from 16 starts.  Her 3 defeats came about through (1) a buckjumping display when her saddle slipped right back in the Silver Slipper Stakes, (2) a rare unplaced effort in the Golden Sipper, when she'd probably gone over the top, and (3) when monstered by the great So You Think in the 2010 WS Cox Plate.

The rain returned after the mighty mare's race, and then the unthinkable happened, with my D3s giving a fatal error for the race finish of the Coolmore Classic, meaning that not a frame was fired.  It was the end to a fairly miserable day, the wonder mare aside.  In a repeat of Derby Day last Spring I again had water cascading down my face which drew sympathy from the crowd huddled under the small amount of cover that Rosehill offers as I battled through to get my other camera as I put the failed one aside in disgust.
