a tribute to one of my favourite people

A snobbish senior was my first impresion of her. Meeting her on the bus were just an exchange of smiles and nothing much. The year we had our SYF changed things. As we spent more time with each other during the practices, we grew closer. It was that particular day, on 15 April 05, we skipped band and we named that day our ' happiest day'. Corny as it may sound, we did have so much on that day that memories of that still makes us laugh and cherish each other more.

We motivated one another to work hard to achieve at least a silver for the SYF. But to our dismay, we only got bronze and most of us cried.

When they heard i was hospitalised, she initiaited the rest to visit me in the hospital. They were great poeple, visiting me and telling me to get well soon. And of course, we also had fun in the hospital playing with the hospital bed and filming her 'giving birth'.

After every band practice, we would have our 'foodtrip' which is stop over to tiong for a while to grab s cup of sweet talk or old chang kee. till now we're still doing it and our juniors are following suit.

In the year 2006 was when we grew closer, esp after that day we shared our secrets. We began to have more and more foodtrips. During our foodtrips, we met the black teeth old lady, we were there when the big big umbrella at bengawan solo fell, we accidentally jaywalked and embarassed ourselves, we dared each other to laugh loudly on a double decker bus. And many other crazy foodtrip outings.

We were already feeling sad that the sec fours will be stepping down on April, but instead, there were news that the sec fours will be offically stepping down on 18 aug so that they'll be able to play for the school's 50th anniversary.

We were so delighted, we decided to make a our own section's shirt and that we'll feel proud to wear it during the band camp. Band camp was just so memorable, we had so much especially on the last night. Zheng yi joined us in staying up all night and taking crazy pitctures and acting videos. He was also like our lao da, accompanying us everywhere we went that night, including the toilet. And oh, we also wanted to play captain's ball in the parade square at 4am in the morning, but alas, the ball was with one of the comittee members and we couldnt have it.

Coincidentally, many of us had stomach aches that night and to our dismay, we ran out of tissue paper! So, in the wee hours of the morning, we did our business in the teacher's toilet using their tissue. We never ran ouf toilet paper again that night.

During our practices for the 5oth anniversary dinner, we were like cherishing our last few practices together with them. We were dreading for the day they offcially step down. On one of the fridays, we had so much fun playing captain's ball with the other band members. And oh, we made arthur and habib popular. Thanks to sherlin's love for them. Haha! but habib suck and arthur is more sporty, he didn't get angry at all despite all the teasing. Then on our last full

dress rehearsal at the neptune, thanks to her, we took a lot of photos. On that day, we try do everything we had plan. To have everything in order before we go for the dinner and to take as much photos as we can.

When we were behind the curtain, before our perfomance, some of us cried. it was our last performance together as a whole band, and with our present sec fours.

i would just like to say that i wont have anyone like you, who leads the clarinetists, who brings so much laughter and fun esp during band practices, someone like you who makes my bill explode like how i make yours too. someone like you whom i could take 24/7 via phone, sms, and online. someone like you, who's a rocking great friend.

18th august

the 50th anniversary dinner

it's the day we've been practising for, waiting for and also, dreading for. 18th august, our school anniversary dinner & concert, our principal's birthday, han sin birthday and also, sadly, the last time we're performing with the sec fours. ah!

anyway, my day didnt start off very well. took a taxi to school and saw my fellow queenstownians wearing the cleaner shirt. oops, i mean quest celebrates 50th anniversary shirt. everyone was like wearing it! mr.lau's shirt was the most weirdest looking one, it's a long sleeve shirt. lessons were per normal, but i only brought one pen with me and my homework! i had lots of stuf to bring to school, the band uniform, the clother for the dinner, the shoes and acessories.

quest mugs, quest bears, thumbdrives, umbrelllas and quest stuff were sold during recess. and, there was a commotion during recess then when we were wakling up the stairs back to our classroom, a lot of malay guys were running up the stairs to 4th level making lots of noise. they said something like wanna fight and go find raied. being kpo, we also went up. there was a big crowd. so weiling, beth and i went to inform the level form teachers.

after recess was mother tongue lesson. i wanted to skip it since we'll be dismissed from class earlier and what's more i didnt bring my homework. but i went in the end, and teacher was rather pissed with the class cos of the homework.

after our early dismissal, quickly changed into band uniform, practised in the music room, went for lunch in the canteen. in the canteen, we sang han sin a happy birthday song. he was so funny, we sang louder for him and he hush us to keep quiet. and because of the card i made for him, my lp stick is now smashed! ahh! it looks gross actually. then we quickly, bought out stuff and instruments into the bus.

we proceeded to the big blacony area there and we practised our pieces. it was rather unique you know, all of us were standing and playing our instruments. then we went to the place outside the toilet there and took lots of photos like we did last friday during our full dress rehearsal. and the funniest thing was that we took photos in the guys toilet! and when we came out all giggling and laughing some guys were walking to the girls toilet thinking that it's the boys toilet theyre going since they saw us coming out of the boys toilet!

after our "photo taking session", we went to have our make up done. wah, that teacher dont allow us to have this and that. not happy, we got our very own make up artist to do our make up for us. thanks lydia! we were all sparkly and dolled up, we went to have our dinner upstairs. it wasnt really tummy filling, i only ate the rice cause it's sweet and sour fish. last night mom and dad made me eat a pomfret fish. if i dont eat they wont allow me to bring the camera. so of course, i ate it. yucks, eeww. my brother was in front of me laughing saying i should be in fear factor -.-" we then had a last practice on stage and tuned our instruments. soon everyone came and we were behind the curtains. we were all overwhelmed with emotions before the performance, like huimin said. huixuan cried! my fault, hehe! i kept saying " whoa it's our last performance together, so sad!" oh man. and then the trumpeters played fanfare to mark the arrival of the guest of honour, mr. gan kim yong. the curtains were pulled up and the trumpeters marched in. the hosts, the head prefect- chor hao and weiling introduced the band.

we played seagate overture and one moment in time for the last officially. after practising and playing seagate overture since january, all the memories with the clarinetists and the band anf of course mdm wu will be etched in my mind. i still remember mdm wu threatening to change the song piece at the very last minute. i kind of played some notes wrongly, but what the heck, it's over now! the plan was to stand up and mdm wu will bow if the crowds applause is contunously loud. but too bad, we didnt get too. after the curtains were closed, as quick as possible, we carried our instruments, files & stands to the lift area. there was a confusion on what to do. so we eventually ran upstairs to get our stuff and gave the sec 1 prefects our instruments and went to find hui xuan, stacey & jiawei. hugged them and ran upstairs again and changed into out outfits. it was funny, stuff were all over the room and all the girls were changing everywhere. then suddenly russell came in to change and we screamed.

had a lot of comments after i changed into my outfit. one of them was that i look a mother- a mother of the clarinetists! we walked to our table which is table number 50. what a lucky number, table 50 and the schools 50th anniversary. no wonder 18th august lah, mr lau's birthday. maybe he's 50 years old.

at the table, didnt really get to eat much of the 10 course dinner. most of the time we were running around taking pictures. it was like a major photo taking session! when the old boys, or maybe 'the quest band' not our band ah, like almost everyone were engrossed in their own stuff, or maybe eating.

the night ended with the auctions and the lucky draw. we didnt win anything, but were close to! didnt know how to come home from the neptune so i took a cab with huixuan who came back.

i'm gonna remember 18th august, for all the memorable stuff we did. pictures will be up soon. it's in my other sim card!

today rocked!
no matter how tired and sleepy i am, i must blog about it!

i woke up feeling really really sleepy and i just wished i could sleep a while more on my bed. anyways, michael and guorong got the cookies today! hahaha! michael! and guorong said fcuk so loudly when his name was mentioned. ah, i think chor hao needs to change his cookie line. it's getting boring. then zacharie was funny lah. we were up there on the second floor and he was saying '' wah, chor hao always take my line''.

during assembly, mr.lau introduced the china exchange students. i didnt even know there were gonna be china exchange students coming until i saw the singapore china exchange banner. mdm yani came back during poa lesson, and like for the first time in months, our poa class was quiet. when mr lee was teaching the class was chaotic. but he's really funny, all his expressions and actions. then during d& t lessons, the china exchange students came and visit us in the workshop while we were doing our theory. wah we felt like an exhibtion. so many of them came know. then michael and kenneth were funny. they're pathetic. kenneth's really dramatic can. haha! and oh! erny and calvin were surprised that im taking d&t. at first, im surprised at myself at why i chose it. when i was in lower sec, i didnt put much emphasis on tha subject cause i thought i wont be taking it and we'll be taking f&n anyway. hah! and beginning of the year, many were surprised too. "eh, you take d&t ah? weird lah you" i also thought of changing subjects like from d&t to art or f&n. for a reason was, d&t was a difficult subject at first and secondly, im the only girl in my class taking it.

met up with the clarinetists to have lunch after school. we were like treasuring our time together now that today was like our last day practice with the sec 4s main band. still have next friday lah, but next week the final practice will be held at the neptune itself. practiced seagate till the cina exchange students came i the music room to see us. we greeted them in chinese know, instead of english! we played beach boys and one moment in time. funny lah. while i was playing beach boys, got lots of sailva in my mouthpiece and reed already then i was like playing and sputtering saliva at the same time. haha! a bit gross. ah, now i remember. the other day when kaiying and i were on the bus stop we saw this man. he stuck the vics inhaler into his nose. yes, into his nose and he was walking around the bus stop. gross can, he must be showing off his gooey boogy to everyone. eeeks!

after the china students left, we persuade mdm woo to let us have a break and we had a liitle nice friendly chat with her eh. we asked her go for the 5oth anniversary dinner. she refused again. then she was taking out her tissue from her breast pocket again. this tim, i bothered to ask. " mdm woo, you take out your tissue from your breat pocket is it?" we laughed and she started laughing too! she said to kaiying " sometimes i want to scold you also cannot scold, you lah, you make me laugh".

then we went to the library to discuss for the dinner on that day. woohoo! i'm getting excited. ho yeung and mel are going and hopefully many more too! we went back to the msic room late. then it was time for the sec 4s and mdm woo to leave. we then were asked if we wanna do sectionals, clean instruments or play games. of course, we chose to play games rather than playing sectinals or cleaning instruments. then we went to the place behind the canteen and had our game of capatin's ball there.

before our game started, we were so noisy on deciding who'll be in our teams. we wanted arthur in our team and we'll play against habib! we hate habib now. he sucks can. i admit i always tease him and stuff lah. but he scolded me vulgarities. so now, whenever we see him, we say eeee. then we started playing. it was super fun okay. my team was the clarinetists , zhang wang, arthur , germaine, yueting , hardi, kunxiu, zhi yong vs han sin, li zhong , ho yeung , mel ,sed and many more lah!

captain's ball with the band people was so fun. and i pushed, or rather 'bulldozed' lots of people and snatched the ball. so fun. and the funny thing was that whenever habib got the ball, we'll say eeeeee and laugh and laugh. arthur was good at shooting the ball and ervin can run fast okay. and i bumped into habib many times! also kaiying and i were close to touching the ball then we bumped into each other and fell down. she hurt her knee. hope your knee is not bleeding anymore yeah.

went to tiong with gabriel and pearlyn and shuqi came along too. bus 33 was super crowded but we still squeezed in, gabriel and i were in front of the bus. when we came to the junction of the road, we waved to a man we don't know. hahaha! it was crazy and the man was muttering something. went to get our sweetalk and squidhaed then took the bus with kaiying. oh man, im gonna miss days like these.

i'm back finally after ages!

july has been a busy week and i think i'm gonna be more busy now that's it's august. we've got national day coming and the 5oth anniversary. lots of rehearsals and tests and projects has been keeping me busy. hope that my hectic schedule will help me lose weight. haha! i fell unknowingly fell asleep during d&t lesson today. good thing mr.khoo didnt see, zul was blocking me. i seriously need sleep!

been troubled lately and i've never felt this way before this year. it's like im not myself anymore especially after the camp. i miss my old self. it's like everybody' changing and i dont feel myself anymore.

anyway, we clarinetists are going for the dinner after performing for the first item. hope our band committee members can join us too. the more the merrier!
